Complaint:
I am rejecting this response because:Answer I was told by Tim *** that my install time would be week regardless on what cci states.Answer When I received a call about the install date an attempt was made to upsell the awning, not multiple attempts.Answer My signed contract states that on end of the foundation 3' off grade concrete blocks were filled with concreteThat means that you were aware of the blocks.Answer My foundation block are 40' on center and 41' end to endAnother lie.Answer There were no modifications made the base of the awningThe base plate holes were drilled prior to delivery as I was present for the entire installAnother lie.Answer I do not believe that I was doing business with a independent dealer being that my signed contract and paid invoice all say cci and the address matches that of cci. If it was a independent dealer maybe cci need to do a better job choosing who represents cci

I am rejecting this response because: I originally purchased a 2 vehicle carport.   I specifically told their authorized dealership representative it was for 2 vehicles specifically trucks.  As a consumer, not in the engineer profession, and picking out the building spec's I was provided the building came with all the walls which as a consumer that would include the wall that was eliminated in my purchase.  If there was a problem and I had been notified, by either Carolina Carports or their authorized dealer,  then this could have been corrected prior to all these charges being incurred.  Consumers should have the right to get what was presented when purchasing products.  Not these deceptive practices

As stated, CCI continues to attempt delivery and service in these areas during the winter months, weather permitting. We monitor the weather in each area and do our best to project potential delivery dates, which was this case with this order. We do sincerely apologize, however, as a matter of policy and contract, CCI is not in a position to refund this down payment. Sincerely,Heather S[redacted] CCI - General Manager

We are in receipt of the complaint being filed by Mr. [redacted] and have researched the complaint in order to respond. Mr. [redacted] was originally scheduled for 9/13/2016. The contractor contacted CCI regarding a family emergency and was unable to complete entire load. This is not a favorable...

situation for the contractor as they only get paid if they install. We have contacted the customer regarding delivery for 9/17/2016 and applied a discount for their inconvenience. We hope this is sufficient to close this matter with regards to CCI.  Sincerely, Heather S[redacted]CCI - General Manager

I am in receipt of the complaint being filed by Mr. [redacted] On November 1st. 2017, Mr. [redacted] placed an order with Long Mountain Sales, an independent dealer located in Virginia. The customer ordered and signed a contract for a True Burgundy roof. On February 5th, 2018 the unit was...

installed. On February 6th, 2018, the dealer contacted CCI stating that the customer's wife reported that the wrong color roof was installed. CCI requested that photos of the roof be sent. On February 8th, 2018, CCI received photos of the roof. CCI was unable to determine from the photos if the color was correct or incorrect due to the lighting. CCI agreed to send a contractor, prepared with True Burgundy panels, to inspect the unit and replace the roof if necessary. Upon arrival on April 10th, 2018, the contractor compared the existing roof to the True Burgundy panels he was prepared with and determined that the colors were identical. The existing roof is in fact True Burgundy. On April 11th, CCI spoke with the customer to discuss the fact that the unit was installed with the correct color. The customer then indicated that they actually wanted Vintage Burgundy. We explained that we had installed the order correctly as it was placed. The panels on the unit are considered used and cannot be resold as new panels. In order to change the color or the roof, the customer would need to pay for the new panels, the labor and the return trip fee. The material was quoted at $567 ($3.00 per linear foot), the return trip fee is $200 and the labor is $350. The total is $1117.00 plus tax on the materials. The customer was upset stating that they could purchase a new unit for that price. The unit they purchased originally is a top only unit, essentially they are requesting a new unit. CCI will not be able to replace the panels at no charge nor will we be able to refund the price of the unit. I have worked to reduce the cost of changing the panels by allowing a credit for the used panels and speaking with a contractor to reduce the labor fee. We can change the panels for the following cost:Materials = $567.00 (plus tax)Labor = $250.00Return Trip Fee = $200.00Used Material Credit = -$189.00The total cost would be $828.00 plus tax on the materials. We hope that the information provided is sufficient to close this matter. CCI has met its obligations and executed the contract as ordered. This has been physically verified. In the spirit of customer service, we are willing to reduce our normal costs to provide the service requested. Should you have any additional concerns or questions regarding this matter, please feel free to reach out.  Sincerely,Heather [redacted]CCI - General Manager

We are in receipt of the complaint being filed by [redacted]. CCI has this customer listed under [redacted]. We do sincerely apologize for delays in the delivery. This unit was completed in a satisfactory manner on December 9, 2016. There has been a courtesy discount applied to the order for...

the inconvenience. CCI is unable to offer additional discounts to the order as the circumstances surrounding the delays were beyond our control.

I am in receipt of the complaint being filed by Mr. [redacted].  Mr. [redacted] purchased a unit in June of 2017. He noticed CCI that he was ready for delivery on 9/13/2017. We have experienced delays in our northern states.  We contacted Mr. [redacted] on 12/19/2017 to notify him that we...

would be working on a schedule date after the new year. To date, deliver has been delayed due to weather. Mr. [redacted]'s order is in a route for delivery once weather clears. We have applied a courtesy discount of $300 to the order.  Have a great day.  Heather [redacted]CCI General Manager

I am rejecting this response because: During my conversation with Carolina Carports (prior to me submitting the Revdex.com complaint), they gave an estimate from $1250 - $2000, and now they are quoting $2450.  Why is the quote now in excess from the original quote?  Are they fully closing in the ends? Are they partially closing in the ends?  Please explain why the jump to $2450 for the quote.  Why am I not allowed a second option? Had we been informed at the beginning , I would have had two options and now I am only given one.   Please explain:1. Why the increase in cost of $2450 versus original quote of $1250 to $2000?2. Why are we not given a 2nd option?3. Why were we not informed in the beginning of the additional movement?

Mr. [redacted] purchased his unit on July 22, 2016. CCI attempted to contact Mr. [redacted] on August 31st, 2016 for a delivery of September 9th, 2016. Mr. [redacted] did not return the call until September 7th, 2016 at which point the truck load was already full. Mr. [redacted] was placed on the next...

truck to the area and unfortunately the contractor was unable to complete Mr. [redacted] job.Mr. [redacted] is confirmed for a truck route for Nov. 10th/11th. Sincerely,Heather S[redacted]General Manager

I am in receipt of the complaint being filed by Mrs. Holly [redacted] Mrs. [redacted] purchased a unit from SOS Distributors on 10/31/2016. The order included 2-10x10 Garage Doors to be installed on the side. The door spacing was specified as being 5' from the corner on the 41' long side with 4'6-1/2''...

in between the doors. CCI manufactured and shipped the unit as instructed. On 12/16/2016 at 2:54pm, our customer service representative spoke with the customer to arrange delivery for 1/5/2017. On 1/5/2017, the contractor arrived on site. Mrs. [redacted] was not home but there was a gentleman on site that was overseeing the construction. The contractor noted that the concrete was not poured correctly. He spoke with the customer over the phone and notified the customer that the concrete was incorrect. He offered to install the unit as is or the customer could schedule a new date, he would return with the measurements and the customer would need to pay a return trip fee. The customer advised the contractor to proceed and stated that she would have the concrete fixed afterwards. After the contractor completed the job and left the job site, the customer began contacting him on his cell phone. She was attempting to charge the contractor for the costs of concrete "repairs" which were actually poured incorrect by the concrete contractor. In the meantime, the customer continue to withhold the balance for the building as well, which was constructed properly and CCI continued to bill the customer for the structure. During the collections process, the customer refused to pay for the unit. CCI continued to bill as the unit was constructed correctly. Since the customer was insisting that the concrete was not an issue, CCI agreed to send a division manager to inspect the unit once more. We sent our MS Division manager to the site. The division manager was able to confirm the exact details provided by the original contractor, the building is manufactured and constructed correctly, the issue is the concrete. After the inspection, we spoke with the customer again and also began emailing with the customer. We have advised repeatedly the concerns she has presented cannot be validated but we too are eager to get this resolved. The customer was advised that CCI was willing, as a courtesy, to offer a $600.00 discount if payment was made by Feb. 1st, 2018. As of yesterday, the customer stated that she would make payment after speaking with the Revdex.com. CCI has spent exhaustive amounts of time working with the customer, contractor, sending additional representatives to the site and reviewing this file. The original contractor, the photos provided by the customer and the accounts of the division manager are all identical and indicate a failure on the part of the concrete contractor. Since we are eager to get this resolved, we are willing to honor the offer previously presented.  Sincerely, Heather [redacted]CCI General Manager

Revdex.com:I have discussed the situation with the business. I do not agree with their business practices in regard to contractors charging whatever they want to once they are on site installing the structure. I have agree to pay an additional $97.80 even though I do not think it is owed but I do not want my credit rating affected by  it paying the amount. I will never recommend this company to anyone because of their poor business practices.Thank you for your assistance in this matter. They would not even talk with me until you got involved.

I have taken the opportunity to review the issues surrounding this complaint in order to respond in the accurate and complete manner. Mr. [redacted] was originally scheduled on June 30th. His delivery was delayed due to a mechanical failure with the contractors truck. CCI was closed the following...

week for annual vacation. Mr. [redacted] was given a delivery date of July 12th with a different contractor. Upon arrival in the area on July 11th, the contractor experienced difficulties with a structure due to customer requested changes on site which forced his return to the shop to pick up additional materials and resulted in a delay to July 13th. On July 13th, the contractor was on schedule as planned. In route, his brakes seized on his trailer resulting in an issue with his axle as well. CCI was in the process of locating a repair shop when Mr. [redacted] called in for an update. The contractor was unable to proceed with his route and will be placing his trailer in a repair facility. Mr. [redacted]'s issue was elevated to management. He spoke with Angie, a customer service manager, regarding his delays. Angie apologized and placed him on the next available truck for July 18th. Mr. [redacted] was also issued a discount and an upgrade for his troubles. Mr. [redacted] was agreeable to the date, discount and upgrade. Should additional information be required, please feel free to contact me direct.  Sincerely, Heather S[redacted]CCI - General Manager

This correspondence appears to be from David at the county. I am assuming David [redacted]. Carolina Carports Inc. has been in contact and communicating with Jim [redacted] the Sr. Plans Examiner at the county. Those emails have also been shared and forwarded to David [redacted]. We have presented options which have been rejected. In fact, we have an email directly from David stating that his suggestion was that CCI hire a professional engineer despite the fact that the plans that they have in hand are from a professional engineer. The engineered drawings were utilized in the pulling of the permit. The building is built by the plans. If the inspector or plans examiner had a issue with the plans provided by the engineer, they should not have issued the permit. The permit issued was based on the current plans which the building is executed by. The building is built to spec. A county cannot come back after the fact and state that they are not satisfied with the construction of a structure which is built according to the plans that were initially submitted. CCI is continuing to work on this. The engineer is in the process of writing a PE letter with another suggestion which will hopefully be satisfactory to the county. In addition, we have been in contact with the customer as recently as February 7th regarding the activity on our end.

I am in receipt of your complaint regarding delivery of your door. Unfortunately, CCI is unable to guarantee a time frame for drop offs or addition orders due to a number of circumstances. We certainly attempt to give delivery estimates, however, that may vary. For example, garage door drop...

offs or additions can present issues due to space availability on the truck. As noted, contractors are sent by when they are in the area working, which means, they already have a full load on their trailers. The trailers can only haul a certain number of doors at a time. Additionally, a single door, loaded and re-loaded a number of times presents concern for damages to the door. Currently, we do have your order marked for drop off. We have a route on August 3rd/4th which appears will support the delivery. The ladies in customer service will contact you 2-3 days in advance of delivery. In the meantime, you may direct any inquiries to myself or Leonarda, our lead customer service for South Carolina. Sincerely,Heather [redacted]CCI - General Manager
