Hour recently rais our annual renewal fee by 444.85% It was supposed to have been a lifetime agreement The company does not stand by the sales promises they make to their clients

I ride my bike miles to the 24/in Santa Cruz, Cato do my work out and get a shower before riding my bike back miles to care for the lady who lives next doorWhen I get there I find out the men's locker area is closed so the female cleaner can clean thereThey pay so little they couldn't keep the male attendantI will now be taking care of a very nice little old lady smelling like boIf they are going to have a female clean they need to advertise the hours that the 24/men's locker is not going to be a 24/I am looking for another gym that will pay their cleaning staff enough to keep themI can not drive do to epilepsy so it is a big deal to me to have to ride back to the gym againThe 24/in Santa Cruz is rather pathetic, don't get a membership here

When I joined Hour Fitness in December of 2008, the sales rep stated that since I prepaid for years, my "lifetime" renewal membership would be $for as long as I was a member However, in December of my membership renewal is $I feel this was a deceptive sales promotion or new management is refusing to honor my contract

Hour Fitness ripped me off!! I cancelled my (3-person, family) membership because they were going to impose a "per person" price increaseThey kept charging my account for my other family members - i.eonly cancelled mineThey would not honor the cancellation for my other family members until this morning when I called them on itI asked what was in their call notes and they said "the customer decided to cancel - no reason given"I explained that we had gone back and forth several times; then asked if they had a history of my contact with themThey said they only keep a few months of historySuper disappointed

I've been a loyal customer of hour fitness for years, since I signed a promotional agreement at their Sacramento club I paid a large sum up front, so that I can have a low annual renewal fee I worked out religiously until I had to stop when I became pregnant and stayed home with my infant for the first year I was ready to return to the gym only to find out that when I logged in, my membership had been canceled I called and they told me that I didn't pay a bill that was due in September and that I had until Dec to pay it They never sent me an email or a letter that I had a bill due and that my membership would expire if I didn't pay It isn't stated in my original contract from that I have a day period to pay the bill or else I risk cancellation The representative stated that even so that it wasn't in the original contract, that's now their policy I am very upset by this because there was no way of me knowing any of this or that I had a bill to pay, unless I walked in to a gym sometime between Sept and Dec and was physically told that I have bill to pay, as this was how I found out in the past that a bill was do The customer service was terrible and they tried to sell me a new membership agreement I just want my contract to be honored and that they should have sent a letter to me telling me that my membership would expire if I didn't pay There was NO communication And if I knew that this was going to happen in 2005, I would have NOT signed up for the promotional deal because somehow I'm suppose to remember on a yearly basis that I have a bill to pay This is just ludicrous and feels illegal what they're doing

This people are BAD!!!! they will do whatever to earn your business, but then they will give you the roundabout when you want to cancel First, I was told to cancel on the last day of the contract by calling the local fitness center Second, on the last day of the contract, I called to cancel and then I was informed that I had to come in in person Well, then I walk in to cancelThey give me a cancelation note and I recieve an email saying that I am cancelled Except my credit card still charged for one more month becaue I cancel minutes after the automatic charge went in Then I am told, in reality to cancel you need to call the nation calling center I called, the person says I have only one optionsince I already paid for an extra month, I can continue to use the fitness center WTH! they won't issue a refund I have called my bank to disallow them to continue to charge meDO not do any business with hour fitness, they are nasty

hour fitness is a decent gym, defiantly not worth the price but if it's close to you eh it's not badThe only problem is when you decide you dont want to be a member anymore they don't let you quit, they keep charging you
I quit my membership in December because I broke my tibia and fibula and would not be able to go any more as I couldn't walk anymoreEverything was fine until right now in January when I noticed a charge from la fitnessConfused I called them up only to find out that hour fitness had sold them my billing information in November and after further review of my bank account I found that hr had resumed charging in June of La fitness was 100% sympathetic and refunded what they had taken immediately, but when I called they told me that there was a freeze and it was never canceled and told me I was lucky because it was a free freeze haha yeah free that ended up costing me Long story short they would not own up to their fraudulent charges and refused to refund meThe only thing I got from the person I talked to was that her name was *** and that she was a floor supervisor no last name and no employee number and she stated there was no one higher up that I could talk to she was the "highest up" in hour fitness

I first added to my friend's membership and was paying $a month, with an annual fee, and no commitment
Then one day I found out there was actually another option that if you only go to one location, the monthly charge was $less ($30/month)
So I went to this location in City of Industry and the sales person told me that to "switch plan" to a different option there is a feeI did not want to pay for any "fee" especially when I first enrolled I was not told that there is another option that could have cost me $5/month less, and I have already paid $more than I should have.( I already had 6months membership by that time)
the sales person suggested that I can cancel my current plan and add back one month later to the new plan with $30/month
I agreedI canceled my plan and came back month later, and talked to the same sales personHe signed me up as a new member with a year contract which I do not want, what I wanted was to add onto someone's membership with no commitment and paying $30/month
After I realized he signed me up with something I do not want, I went back to the salesperson and told him it was a mistakeHe simply told me: you signed on the paper
It was so difficult to explain the whole thing again to him, and finally he looked up the plan I wanted, and surprisingly, he told me the price for that plan (add on to someone's membership and only choose location to go) would be $or $45/month or something...(about $dollar more than it was month ago)
Which means in this month, they changed their plan options and prices, and now adding onto someone's membership will cost you more than start a new plan yourself with contractWhich means, they are trying to make people sign up for 1-year contracts
And at that time I realized that I'll have to pay the Annual fee again with any new plan I sign up, which means I'll pay the annual fee twice a year just because I want to switch to a different plan
I was super disappointed with this complicated situation and I talked to the manager named Bridgette (as I remember)She simply told me she could not do anything to help me
After all this happened, I decided I will never come back againSo I need to first cancel the wrong membership the guy signed me up!
Then I was told that only a Manager can cancel the membership, and that time there was no manager onsite
I was on the 3rd day of the membership and I've only got days to cancel for freeSo I really just want to CANCEL the membershipI asked a receptionist to call other nearby locations to see if they have an onsite managerAfter like phone calls the receptionist finally found one location in West Covina, and she wrote down the address for meAnd the address turned out to me Wrong
I was smart enough to google find the CORRECT address and drove 30minutes to the other location to just CANCEL my membership!
All this experience just told me that this company just want people to sign up for membership and do not want to or make any ways to help with the problem people haveI will not spend a penny in this company ever again

Dear Hour Fitness Management:
I am filing this formal complaint regarding the poor management at Hour Fitness, Irvine, CA that caused me to cancel my membership that I’ve had since
After years of being with Hour Fitness, I had no choice but to leave and join LA Fitness this past August because of poor management There were a lot of accusations being spread against a great and talented Zumba instructor in the Irvine gym locations by other instructors and a few members That instructor was forced to resign from Hour Fitness This was very disturbing to many of her dedicated followers Approximately students have left Hour Fitness since August to follow this talented instructor at LA Fitness A few tried to remain in Hour Fitness classes but the instructors who were involved in the accusations made it too uncomfortable for many to continue
The reason I got very disappointed and upset was that specifically the district manager, Aimee M, did not conduct a meeting with Hour’s Human Resources Department and the Zumba instructors involved, namely, Konnor N, Graciela A, Bianca A and Connie S Instead of confronting the situation with a meeting so that the truth could have led to good and acceptable resolutions, M uplifted those making the accusations and continued to let the defamation of this instructor’s character continue in classes across Orange County
M did not act to make the Hour Zumba environment safe and happy for all of us; in fact, she personally threatened those who were trying to come forward with the truth Had she held a meeting with the instructors involved who were making the accusations, then we would not have lost that great talented Zumba instructor and we would not have felt unwelcome in the other instructors’ classes M’ fosters toxic environments where talent cannot bubble to the top and where members do not feel safe and happy
Aimee M was an irresponsible leader and very poor Hour Fitness community liaison By jumping to conclusions and playing favoritism, she created a very unsafe and toxic environment that I could no longer be a part of She was extremely unprofessional and very unfair in her treatment to many members and to the talented instructor who was defamed M does not possess the qualities and attributes of a leader, especially a leader who holds a bit of many people’s weekly happiness and safety in her hands
Being a Hour member since 1993, I have never seen this kind of divisive drama and poor management in any of the other Hour gyms I’ve attended in CA, Texas, and Florida where I have lived across the years I would seriously recommend that the district manager Aimee M have her management skills carefully evaluated
At her level of district manager she has the responsibility to be a fair leader and quickly address any conflicts, put a stop to accusations, and give instructors fair opportunities to be heard when they are being defamed Instead she gave those falsehoods a voice and an outlet at the corporate level that led to a lot of pain for many members and a very talented instructor I can’t be part of an organization that allows such poor treatment to others
Regards

After years with Hour Fitness at a locked annual price, the price increased by 100% in one year With no notice or explanation of the price increase, I am shocked I understand the need to increase the price, but such a dramatic increase leads me to believe they have not been making wise business choices and are at risk of following in the footsteps of Bally's Fitness They did similar increases before the doors closed

I resigned up with hour fitness for convenience Soon after I signed up again I had paid for personal training with a specific trainer "***" because of his credentials in dealing with injuries: my acl, mcl, pcl are torn on my right knee My injuries have caused me to build a fear of working out in the event of another injury possibility Even though I was apprehensive about paying a large sum of money I knew with him I would be safer, so I paid The day after I paid about dollars for this trainer, he was transferred to NY I live in NJ not NY so convenience is definitely not a factor After this ordeal I attempted to go in to cancel everything from the membership to the training I just had purchased and spoke to Shaza who I believe is the asst operations manager, she then advised me it would be taken care of after she received the ok Days went by and nothing was taken care of I have called and left at least messages to receive my refund The last time I showed up at the gym I was told that my messages have been hand delivered to TJ who I believe is the fitness manager and he just blew them off, not even reaching out to me one time So today happens and once again I'm sent into a circle of non-compliance I'm a professional and nothing about this situation is professional at all Leaving problems unresolved and "passing the buck" doesn't make situations go away I will be filing a complaint with the state and also contact the corporate offices to resolve my matter

As a member for the past several years, I'm am totally disassissfied with the Hour Kendall gym in Florida located at the Shops in Town and CountryThere are a group of five treadmills by the women's restroom, that have been in need of replacement for at least a yearThese treadmills are the only ones with a 30% inclineOf the 5, there is an issue with each oneOne had a repair sign for several months, and after a yelp review, I noticed it was temporarily fixed, but there is a rip in floor pad that can cause a trip and fall injuryThe next machine has had an "out of order" sign for several monthsThe 3rd machine has no inclineIt is stuck at -3%And the last work, but are just gross because they are rusted and missing the heart rate plates on the handlesPlease stop "repairing" these machines and just replace them with new ones please! These machines are the only reason I have not switched to the LA Fitness down the streetIn addition to this, there are other things wrong with this gymWater in the fountains is warm, weights are never racked, of the paper towel dispensers, are usually empty Instructors in group exercise sometimes do not show up and memebers are not told until they complain at he deskI have worked out at 24s in Pembroke Pines, Plantation, and even Cutler Bay The Kendall location is the absolute worstIf things do not improve at this location, I will be forced to leaveI have reported these things to the front desk several times, nothing has ever been done

I purchased two memberships over years ago Today I received my daughter's bill and it went from the usual $a year to $The mailed bill stated that there was an increase in my membership duesSo much for that "lifetime" membership! I was told, verbal contract, when I purchased the membership that even though section 3(c) gives the rights to increase my dues, that this would never be done with the lifetime membershipThis held true for me for years until this yearI too paid the ridiculous increase so to have my renewalI agree with another reviewer who stated "Here is what I don't understand nor do I feel this is good practice by In section 3(c) it states that on the monthly membership, they were capped at a 3% increaseWhy was my membership not subject to the same rules?" Not a reasonable increase greater than 100% at one timeI hope not expect some ridiculous increase every year! I assume they are making up for not increasing memberships every yearIf so they will loose a longtime customer! They should honor (grandfather) what they know that the sales person stated upon initial membership, i.eno increase in dues for the "lifetime membership." With enough customer complaints future customers should be aware of deceptive practices in membership sales

Schemme!!! Schemme!!! stay awayPay attention o the annual fee that they will never mention to you and make sure to request a copy of your contract before you sign it, They will no offer or show it to you
The manager will treat you like garbage and refer you to the contract that you signed

Hello,
I signed up with hours for years now and was told that If I cancel fees
would not applyWell, I tried to cancel and they told me that I would incur
feesSo, I did not cancel my membershipThe reason I tried to cancel was after
my surgery and a long road back to recovery, I decided to get a trainer so I
paid almost $for sessionsWell, the 1st session were stretches which
irritated the area of my surgerySo, I cancelled the next session but they said
that I needed to cancel within hours to prevent being chargedWell, I did
call within that hoursHowever, when signed up with the trainer she never
told me this informationThere was no receipt and no paperwork as to the rules
of the service I was gettingI asked for a refund because I was not physical
ready to continue these sessions, but the Manager *** simply said NO! Now I am afraid to cancel because of the fees I will have to pay
Signed frustrated with hours fitness!

Very long hold times! Very hard to reach anyone unless you are signing upMember services is unhelpful and can't reach anyone without holding for minutes at a timeVery disappointed considering how much they chargeI'm currently still on hold as I write the review and emailed them as well and no response backRidiculous!

Today at 1:PM
A friend and I went to the Meyerland 24Hour Fitness in Houston, Texas the other day We were lifting weights and minding our own business The club's manager we think *** *** told us to rack the weights used by some other person We told him that we did not use those weights *** insisted that we rack the weights, then some little chihuahua named *** came over to say he is going to call the police and will escalate things to have our memberships revoked I pulled out my phone to start recording *** knocked the phone out of my hand and *** said if you touch *** we will call the police and have you arrested We picked up my phone and left These two lovers need to be fired

I work out at a minimally equipped Hour FitnessI chose this club because it was convenient and had the equipment I wanted to use (bumper plates, crossfit cage, etc.)I signed up for $a month with a 12mo commitment and a $annual feeThe gym recently removed that equipment
My problem is with the dismal customer service provided when I called member servicesI politely explained the situation and asked if I could cancel my membership with minimal to no fees because my gym removed that equipment I originally signed up for to use and moved it to a different location across townI understand that I signed a commitment form, but the conditions drastically changed and my measly $a month couldn't possibly mean much to this company
The first kid I talked to was nice enough (***?), even though he called me by the wrong name two or three timesHe transferred me to "***", who told me his position was "manager"This guy was extremely unprofessional from the start, jumping down my throat immediately like I was personally attacking him by asking to cancel my membershipHe rudely told me "this is where it stops", "I can't do anything", "you have two options, finish the membership or cancel for the termination fee," all spoken with a rude, aggressive toneObviously not a lot of help
I understand business is business, but this behavior is unacceptable from a member services "manager" that had me put on hold for half an hour to essentially tell me shove itVery disappointing

This gym promised a clean environment for which to exercise inThere are gnats spawning in their pool and there is mold in the grout all over the shower roomA majority of their cardio equipment is falling apartThe front desk people are nice but everything else is seriously lacking
