Advanced Background Checks Reviews (221)

Review: I called asking this company why they haven't removed my information that they have posted. I wrote a letter, filled out their form and printed a copy of the web page listing all my information. I expressed that this information was putting my family in danger, and the man on the phone said I need to resubmit my information and there was nothing else he could do for me and told me if I wanted to talk to some else who cared I could call back. He said he couldn't transfer the call and then he hung up on me .Desired Settlement: I would like all my information removed as soon as possible. I will need to take legal action if they refuse to remove my information as promised they would on their opt-out option on their website. My family is at serious risk.

We have reviewed our files and found that we processed your opt out request on 1/29/2014. Searching today we are unable to find a listing matching the information provided on this complaint. If you are still seeing your information on search results, please provide the URL or contact our Customer Care department to walk a supervisor through where the information can still be found.

We confirmed that your information is suppressed as of today; however, anytime you publicly report your information to companies and organizations, this information may be updated in public record databases and therefore will return results when doing a search for public record files. If you see your name appear on our site again you will need to notify us so we can remove it. We are one of hundreds of websites that provide this information.

Thank you,

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Sincerely,

Review: I had opted out of having my personal information displayed online, for privacy reasons. And was happy to see that my info was not displayed. But now I'm finding that it's all showing up in the "cache" URL: [redacted] This company needs to make sure they clear the cache too, so the customer's info is completely removed. There is no point deleting my info, but maintaining the cache. Thanks, [redacted]Desired Settlement: I want this company to clear the cache that's still showing my personal details online.

Business

Response:

Unfortunately, we do not have the capability to remove links on [redacted], [redacted] or any other search engine. The information you are still seeing on these sites is probably from an indexed API feed. Overtime (days, weeks, months) the link will stop appearing, however, we do not have access to remove the link from other websites. We are only able to remove your profile information from our site. We apologize we could not be of more help in this matter. If you see your name appear directly on our site, please notify us so we can remove it.

Consumer

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to my concern. The business must make sure that they remove my link from their site, as they have assured. and if there is anything else they can do from their side, they must take necessary steps.I am ok provided they take the above steps..Thank You[redacted]

Consumer

Response:

I am re-posting my previous complaint regarding display of personal information online by Advanced Background Checks without my consent. A few years ago I had opted out of having my address and age information displayed online, all the other sites promptly removed the info, but advanced Background Checks is the ONLY site that still displays my confidential/ public info and it comes up on google searches. The URL in question is :- [redacted].The Cache shows up all the personal info, though the link is de-activated.I logged a complaint to Revdex.com earlier this month, and ABC replied that they will remove this link from their site, and I accepted the resolution based on this assurance. But now I'm finding, nothing has been done. I guess they have NOT removed my link for their site.Well, I plan to pursue this matter very seriously, and take serious action if required. I want ABC to REMOVE the link before I accept any resolution on this.[redacted]

Business

Response:

We have reviewed our site and found no listings matching the information you provided on this complaint appearing on AdvancedBackgroundChecks.com. If you are seeing a listing that does match your information appearing directly on our site please provide the full URL where it appears. Again, we do not have the capability to remove links from [redacted] search results. You will need to contact them to remove links from their site.

Review: This website is attributing email addresses that do not belong to me to a record of mine that should be deleted. For example if my email address was [email protected], searching for it would pointed to my record, which displays my address. But every other email beginning with johndoe@ also pulls up my record. For instance, [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], and [email protected], all point to my record. None of these emails belong to me and never have belonged to me and there are no public records that have these email addresses listed as being mine. There is a bug within the website that is falsely attributing these emails to me.Desired Settlement: Remove all of my records from the website and remove all other identifiers that direct the search to my records. Fix the code within your systems and servers so these false positives do not appear.

Business

Response:

As we have discussed over the phone multiple times our IT department is aware of this issue and is actively working to remove your these email results. Again, you will need to allow more time for this to fully take effect online.

Review: They posted my parents contact information as my information on a public page. They refuse to take it down after several emails.

They are requiring that I send in my current correct contact information before they delete the incorrect information.

They are also requiring that I send in this information via post which is ridiculous. The whole world accepts emails as valid forms of communication. This isn't a legal process that requires original signatures. Desired Settlement: I want them to delete this page

All of the information on our website is from public record databases. Every person aged 18 and older can have a public record. This information is collected on a County, City, State, and Federal level, and can also come from reporting information during normal every day activities such as grocery store club cards, magazine subscriptions, voter registration, warranty cards, even fishing licenses, and forms you fill out when browsing the internet. There are thousands of ways this information gets reported.

We are not required to remove any information from our website; however, we offer the option to as a courtesy. We are not refusing to remove your information. We will remove this information from being searched on our site once we receive your letter. It is very helpful to include a printout of the records you wish to have suppressed so we know which listing you are referring to.

Review: The company failed to remove my personal information from publication on the internet despite their "Opt-Out" program and agreement to do so.

Advanced Background Checks is publishing highly personal and detailed historical information about me on the internet that facilitates, aids and abets identify theft, of which I have recently been a victim. I have submitted a written request to the company to remove all information about that they make available in response to a search, and they have to date failed and refused to remove my personal information. I have NEVER given this company permission to assemble and publish highly detailed historical private information.Desired Settlement: I am asking that the Revdex.com assist me in requiring Advanced Background Checks to remove or block all of my records from being shown in all of the company's (Advanced Background Check's and all of its affiliated entities') search results.

Opt-out requests are processed in the order in which they are received. Sometimes requests can take longer than normal based on an increase in the volume of requests received. We apologize for the inconvenience, and we are working to process your request.

This business is deliberately refusing to immediately remove sensitive, incorrect information they have published which causing me harassment. Their policy of refusing to act immediately, insisting that a letter be sent US mail (then be processed at some point) rather than act immediately upon a phone call complaint, or accept email or fax from the complaining party, is unacceptable. This company has MY personal information, including MY email address listed under my EX husband's name. We are currently in very contentious litigation. This is a nightmare. There are both safety and security issues at issue in this case.

Review: I googled my name to see if one of my papers has been published and was horrified to see that advancedbackgroundchecks.com lists all of the addresses I've had for the last 20 years. I understand they collect public data but it's unsettling that my personal information (and others') is easily found online. I emailed then on the June 20, 2014 requesting that my information be removed from the website but I've gotten no response from this company and my information is still public. Please help!Desired Settlement: I need my personal information removed from their website.

Review: I would like my personal information removed from Advanced Background Checks' website.

Aainst my better judgment, in accordance with instructions provided by Advanced Background Checks, I mailed in a letter requesting my information be removed from their site. I called this morning and was told it was not received and when I said it was a violation of privacy she was condescendingly responded with, "It is public information, M'am., Have you registered to vote?" I do not want my personal address, previous addresses, telephone number and cell phone number available to the general public. This leaves anyone in this situation wide open to fraud. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Best regards,

[redacted]Desired Settlement: I would like my personal information removed from their site immediately and permanently.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to my concern, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

I signed up for a trial after clicking through to get a report for someone with whom I lost touch. But then, after doing that, it presented me with a list of matches for the person, that were different from before, many of which said "Sponsored by Xxxx" where X was some other background search company. The one they had originally showed me, and which I thought was paying access for, clicked through to BeenVerified.com, which then goes through a ridiculous progress bar meter trying to get you to think how much hard work they are doing for you, then themselves wanted money from me. What a scam this all is. At least I was able to easily cancel my trial membership, so hopefully I won't be billed.

Review: This company has published my personal information on their website, after calling and speaking with a supervisor who assured me my informaiton would be removed once I submitted my opt request, the information is still available online for the world to see. I've sent this request twice!Desired Settlement: Remove my personal information: name, age, address, birthday, birth city from their website and their partners websites.

Review: Hello,There is a website located in Sacramento, CA that will not remove my personal information from their website, unless I provide them with my date of birth and addresses for the past 20 years. They claim all the information is from public sources, yet they have my cell phone number listed, which is private. I do not want to provide them with additional information (i.e. date of birth, etc.) in order to have my information removed, that is simply not smart or justified. I feel their "opt-out" program is simply another way to get more of my private information. I have sent them multiple emails requesting removal of my information from their website, but they refuse to do so unless I fill out their form and mail it to them; again, this form requests even more of my personal information.Below is the contact information they provided in their emails which refused my opt-out request via email. It is interesting that they list an address that is different than what they have provided the Revdex.com.Opt-Out/AdvancedBackgroundChecks.com1915 21st StreetSacramento, CA95811Here is the address information you have for them at the Advanced Background Checks 1821 Q St Sacramento CA 95811I also called them multiple times at their customer service number, and they also told me I had to fill out the form requiring additional private information, before I can opt out. Here is that contact info and phone number:AdvancedBackgroundChecks Customer [email protected]###-###-####I have been receiving all sorts of unwanted commercial calls on my cell phone number lately, (again, which is a private number), and I think this website is the source. They should respect my right to be removed from their website, but refuse to do so. This is not only wrong, but presents safety and identity theft concerns for me and my family. I would really appreciate your help with this significant issue.Thank you.Desired Settlement: I want all of my information removed from their website, immediately.Thank you for your help with this matter.

Again, you will need to send this removal request via mail. We do not accept opt out requests via email, phone, fax or Revdex.com complaints.

Consumer

Response:

I am rejecting this response because:

They asked me to provide additional information in order to be removed from their website. I feel that exposes me to further risk of identity theft, and it also provides them with addition information that they could verify and sell to others. Specifically, they asked for my birthday and my addresses for the last 20 years. This is an obviously increases my risk of identitiy theft. I do not want to provide them with any additional information in order to be removed from their website. I only want to provide them with my name and address. I want them to remove all of my information from their website, which includes private informantion, namely my cell phone number. These information sites are a growing problem in the United States, and these people have no right to ask a citizen for additional information, just to be removed from their database.

I would really appreciate your help in resolving this matter and gettting my private information off their website.

Thank you for your assistance.

By the way - The response they sent you was the exact response they sent me two times, and also told me on the phone. There is no way someone should have to provide more information in order to be removed.

Business

Response:

We feel we have already addressed these concerns. We simply ask you to identify what information you would like removed and need this in order to identify you among everyone else in the United States. Again it is acceptable to only include a printout of the records already on the site you that wish to have suppressed if you are uncomfortable providing more information.

Consumer

Response:

Thank you for your help. I will contact the company, per the response they sent you, and see if they follow through with my request. If they do not, I will let you know.

Thanks again,

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to my concern, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Review: Very misleading and confusing sign up for service that includes a "free 3-day unlimited use". The process to use that easily creates a subscription. The pricing information on their website when you sign up for a free trial is incompleeete and confusing. I have a law degree and know how to read the fine print. The offer on this site for an "unlimited 3-day free trial" and then 3 levels of subscription are unclear. It appears that you need to select a level of service (1-time, monthly or annual) that you will be billed for after the free trial. You then enter your information under the "Free Trial" box. When I looked up a second person, supposedly covered under my "unlimited 3-day trial", a box popped up saying "special offer right now, $19.95 for unlimited one-year" so I signed up for that. They billed me for the $14.95 one-time look up during my "free trial" and then the $19.95 for the "unlimited 1-year subscription". I called to get a refund on the $14.95 charge citing my sign up for the "unlimited 1-year they refused.Desired Settlement: I want a refund of my $14.95 one-time use charge. They also billed me for the $19.95 "special" for a one-year unlimited subscription. That is OK because that is what I thought I was signing up for.

Business

Response:

Our records show you have already been assisted with this matter. We received and replied to your Revdex.com complaint #[redacted] with the[redacted]. On our response we informed you the charge of $14.95 would be refunded. The refund was processed on 5/7/2014 and usually takes no more than ten business days to show on your statement.

We have reviewed our files and found that on 4/23/2014 the product you selected online was a single $14.95 background report and not the free trial membership. This is why, directly after your purchase, you were eligible for a discounted membership at $19.95 per year. Per our Terms of Use all charges are final but we have refunded $14.95 for the upgrade. If you have any questions or concerns going forward we recommend contacting our Customer Care directly. Communicating through the Revdex.com may be causing some confusion.

Review: I came across a website that has published all my personal information since I was born. Where I live, my age, my full name, all my former addresses even when I was born and what worries me the most is that it has my home phone number that my husband and I pay additional to keep it private.I called the business and they want me to give them my DATE OF BIRTH in order to remove my information, which I refuse to. That is a security question that no one should have access to.Below is the link to my information and I want it removed immediately without having to provide my data of birth: [redacted]. There is not even a subscription necessary to get this information, you just click and get all my information. Please contact them and have my information removed and add a complaint about this. All you have to do to retrieve this information is click on a link from Google. That is INSANE.Desired Settlement: The only resolution is to remove all my information from this website as I never provided any permission to post it. I am not on Facebook for a reason and on LinkedIn I make my information private. I would also a complaint filed against this company for putting my information out to the public. Fraud is a huge concern and with my entire life history (all my residences) listed, it would be fairly easy to commit fraud against me.

Business

Response:

Initial Business Response

As of 10/25/2013 we no can longer locate your information on Advanced Background Checks. The listing was previously displayed at the URL below but now does not come up in search results.

Upon further review today we are still not able to locate your listing on the AdvancedBackgroundChecks.com. Please provide a link to the page where you are still seeing your information.

Any search engines like Google or Bing will need to update their search results to remove links to listings that have been removed. Also keep in mind that anytime you publicly report your information to companies and organizations, this information may be updated in public record databases and therefore will return results when doing a search for public record files. If you see your name appear on our site you will need to notify us so we can remove it. We are one of hundreds of websites that provide this information

Final Consumer Response

They have STILL have not removed the link from Google and ALL other search engines. As indicated in my initial complaint I have contacted Google and I have no authority to remove their advertisement. ONLY the Advanced Background Checks company can remove the link and they MUST reach out to Google promptly and to ALL other search engines to remove their false link / false advertisement. The Google search engine staff explained it will be removed immediately upon their companies' (Advanced Background Checks company) request submission in to Google and to ALL other search engines.

Importantly, at this point, it is also false advertising as the information should no longer should exist on their website, therefore, they should not advertise they have it for sale. As a potential buyer can NOT buy it, it is false advertising on the part of the Advanced Background Checks company. It must be removed promptly by the Advanced Background Checks company and to do so the Advanced Background Checks company must contact all search engines whom they are associated with and request and immediate permanent removal of all my personal information as requested in writing last month.

Final Business Response

Advanced Background Checks is not responsible for what Google or any other search engine displays on their website. Our responsibility was to remove your public profile. We have fulfilled this request and your information can no longer be found on AdvancedBackgroundChecks.com.

You are correct that before this removal request we were supplying this information to search engines and advertisements. This has since stopped. We are no longer supplying the information to any search engines or advertisements. Over time the search results and advertisements displayed on other sites will refresh and stop appearing. This might take search engines or advertising companies some time to update. Please allow more time. If it is not changed in a matter of months you would have to contact those outside entities to update and remove the dead links.

Review: I am calling to complain about a company advancedbackgroundchecks.com. They have incorrect information listed particularly a wrong e-mail address on their data collection website. I have never used that e-mail nor that carrier for e-mail. I have instructed them to immediately suppress all information about me immediately from their website in writing today by C/RRR. It is also disturbing that they use multiple addresses for their businesses.

Opt-Out/AdvancedBackgroundChecks.com POB 189040 - Sacramento CA [redacted] The number you provided ###-###-#### provided the above address when I called today so this is the address I used.

Opt-Out/AdvancedBackgroundChecks.com - second address per their response on your website [redacted] Opt-Out/AdvancedBackgroundChecks.com - third address that Richard had in his file. [redacted] I did not wish to use their form or provide the information they request which requires you to include more personal information including date of birth, any places I ever lived or variations of my name. It is ridiculous to have to provide additional information that they might not yet have. Instead I included the printout of my information as they suggested as a solution in one of your other Revdex.com complaints posts.

According to your Revdex.com website there have been many other complaints. This company's name also seems to be a play on Advanced Background Check, Inc. (singular check not plural) out of Ohio which is a company with a better reputation. They obviously simply perpetuate or compile erroneous information from "public" sites without checking validity.Desired Settlement: Your assistance in making sure that this company suppresses my information is appreciated. As the number of complaints increases this company might warrant review by your State's Attorney General's office.

I just received your letters both dated September 10, 2014, the second letter included the message from the business lodged the complaint against: Opt-OutAdvancedBackgroundChecks.com

I very much appreciate your help in getting this issue resolved so promptly.

Sincerely yours,

- I am forced to send in more personal info via mail to remove an email address? Are you kidding me?

What a bunch of crooks.

Business

Response:

We feel we have already addressed these concerns. Again we only accept opt out requests via mail and a print-out of the page where the information appears will not provide more information if you are uncomfortable.

Consumer

Response:

I am rejecting this response because:

An opt-out request should be made available via your website. I have never heard of someone having to mail in info to opt-out of something they never even opted in. This is ludicrous.

Review: I contacted the website on 11/11/15 and advised they do not have my permission to disclose my full name, age, and complete address on their website. They sent me a link to fill out in order to opt out. I promptly filled out the online form and submitted my information. It's 11/25/15 and my information is still displayed on their site.Desired Settlement: Remove my personal information immediately. Why is it so difficult to remove a person's info upon request? Once you've been notified, there should be no reason for you to continue to display my information to the public. I will be sending you a cease and desist notice in writing. Once again, YOU DO NOT HAVE PERSMISSION TO DISCLOSE MY PERSONAL INFORMATION IN YOUR WEBSITE. I don't care if you obtained my information from a public record database, you were notified to remove it.
