We have been long-time customers and also were members of their Advantage Club which provides 2x/year maintenance, tune ups, filter changes etc It seemed each time we had them out, we were told of extensive repairs which needed immediate attention and of course were very costly
After attending to our furnaces on our latest winter pre-check, we were informed our main floor furnace was leaking carbon monoxide and had to be shut-off and disconnected, We were told our heat exchanger has been compromised, grommets have split and oil was leaking from blower motorThey recommended we replace the furnace immediately even if exchanger part is covered by warrantyIn addition, we were told this year old furnace which came with our multi-million dollar home was of sub-par quality and we needed to upgrade
This left us a bit suspect since everything our builder installed/provided has been top-quality and thus far nothing has needed to be replaced After getting a 2nd and 3rd opinion, both technicians independently deteced zero ppm emitting after running the furnace and could find no damage to the exchanger or evidence of oil leakingBoth performed exhaustive tests and found everything to be operating efficiently Also, they both told us the furnace was of very high-quality, in great condition and should last 20+ years and certainly did not need to be replaced This has left a bad taste in our mouth and wonder how much money we have unnecessarily spent over the years After seeing other similar stories online about ABC and we will not be a customer any longer

I called ABC regarding what I thought was an electrical issue with my dishwasher, Ryan *was sent to my houseTurns out I was wrong, but mentioned to Ryan *that I had a closet light that wouldn't workRyan *looked at it and he and his trainee fixed it and had the light working within minutesRyan *was very personable and thoroughOn a scale of to I give Ryan *20!

I have used them for years based on the kindness of the individuals they hire to come out to fix things but today enough was enoughMember of their Gold club or whatever it is called and got charged $and told had carbon monoxide leaking into my homeThe guy about left but went back in and eventually told us we need a new furnaceKeeping in mind this is less than years old and purchased from them! Get 2nd opinion before I have to reinvest and lo and behold no carbon monoxide and no replacement neededThe blower fan looked like it had never been cleanedSo now have to have it properly cleaned and will use this new individual from now on

My tub wasn't daring quickly as it should. It's a push button plug. I tried to remove by myself but was unable. ABC came out and removed the plug quickly and told my that the drain was clogged and would cost $396 to rod out. When I asked why so much his reply was that the "are a big company with a large overhead. They only profit about 2%". What kind of answer is that??!! I also asked if he would check the bathroom sink as I had an occasional leak. Not sure what he did, but now it leaked all the time. He also insulted my decor. I have brass facutes and his comment was that I should change because brass is from the 70's. I'm so disappointed. Being a single woman, it's hard enough to find someone who isn't going to rip you off.

Had a water leak in an upstairs bathroom during the night causing damage to carpeting and ceiling below. Plumber came ASAP and repaired the leak at 2:30 am, was professional and courteous.

A problem causing loss of home electricity was identified and fixed by Jeff W on his first visit. He also recommended replacing the electrical panel, which was rusting badly and could be the source of additional problems in the future. After discussing several options, and the cost of each, a decision was made, and Jeff W returned the next day to do the work. Jeff W was extremely courteous, professional, tidy, and completed the work on time.

Eric A. did some major electrical work for me over a 2 day period. He was very professional and helpful. Very conscientious in making sure the job was done right and company was very prompt in providing the service.

ABC's technician, Ryan B did a very good job diagnosing potential electrical issues in our house and fixed everything in a timely manner. He provided good explanations and was very polite/service oriented.

Just had the new electrician tech do our 6-month furnace check-up, everything turned out great. Tim was very helpful and knowledgeable about the different things I did not understand about the furnace, also gave information regarding a possible humidifier (have to check with my sister - it's her house!)

I would hire him in a second

I have filed a complaint about ABC for fraud with the Illinois Attorney General. I have come here to warn others about this group.

1) The company's sales people are trained to convince you to buy a product (AC/Unit, water purifier, tankless water heater, etc., etc.) even if one isn't needed. I contacted ABC Plumbing, Heating, Cooling and Electric as I was having problems with my hot water tank and some various other items that needed to be fixed around the house. Three times they came to my house and each time they recommended I buy a product. My house was only 11 years old at the time.
2) They vastly overcharge for their services and products as compared to market rates.
3) Their work is shoddy and they don't stand by it. When I had problems early on with the water purification they sold me they avoided the conversation. This clearly illustrated to me that this was a highly dubious company and one I should not be involved with.
4) They sell propriety products that only a small group of plumbers are allowed to work on them as the manufacturer will not sell any non-official plumber their proprietary parts. At no time in the sales process will you be told that you are stuck with ABC for life.
If you are considering this company I strongly recommend that you don't use them. If you currently are stuck with them I recommend contacting the Illinois Attorney General for resolution.

I then contacted ABC and they sent out a supervisor (he did not give me his card). The supervisor said that since another plumber had touched the unit that my warranty was voided. I told him that the person only changed a small valve and that the original valve was still here. Also, I was not aware that if another plumber touched the unit that it canceled my warranty. In addition, I was never informed that I was buying a proprietary system that only ABC and a few other plumbers are allowed to work on. I also shared that since they fraudulently recommend products over repairs so that their customers pay more that I did not want to contact them. During the discussion he eventually admitted that they are taught to sell products because "that's how we make our money". I agree with him about their deceptive business practices because I had them come out to my home 3 times and each time they recommended that I buy a very costly product (tankless water heater, A/C unit and the water purification system). My home and all of the utilities in it were only 10 - 12 years old at the time.

should not have charged the additional $469.00. We will refund this charge, but I cannot issue a refund for any other fees. Since the $802 is less than you would have spent had he only charged for the other work. Adam did quote the original price before beginning any work and the price of $802 was approved. I am sorry about the error of charging an additional $469.00. I am happy to issue the refund as soon as we receive your response. They came out for a quote extend gas line for outdoor BBQ grill. The line had to go around 10 ft from house and the kitchen bordered same outside wall the gas line would be extended from. I was never told a quote was not a free service. Also the quote was an order of magnitude higher than expected. I felt like the person was not interested in the work and just gave an extremely high quote to collect a fee and leave. The person wasn't even prepared to do the work they were giving a quote for even though I was told when I scheduled the appointment that it wouldn't be a big deal to do both.

a flat rate price book so that each customer pays exactly the same price for the excellent service they receive. I apologize that Mr. [redacted] was unhappy with the service he received. A refund for the $59.00 was issued on 6/10/14 by the customer service manager when she heard about the issue from our CSR.

I filed the complaint because I hadn't heard back from ABC in regards to my concern. Had they called me back and told me they issued a refund I may not have filed the complaint. Refund hasn't been received yet but i'll check the mail.

I reached out to Mr. [redacted] by phone, and agreed to refund the $59.00 service that he paid.
