I was signed up without my consent by this company and was sent an email notifying me that I would be required to opt out if I do not want to do business with them. I have a *** account and never requested that I be automatically enrolled in any ESCO without my consent. *** notified me I have been removed from some list where you can be forcibly made a customer of an ESCO, but I never asked to be on such list. I never agreed to open an account with this company, and they never earned my business. Upon further review, it appears I may have provided my email at one point and never followed through opening an account because I had no interest in doing so. I did not make an informed decision that it would benefit me to do obtain energy from Arcadia Power. They have engaged in fraudulent practices by taking a dormant account that was not fully signed up and forcibly signing it up through a supposed *** program.

I was sent an email telling me I would have to opt out, but do not remember ever seeing it in my inbox (it went to a different inbox than that which I use for my *** account). Then a couple weeks later I received a surprise notification from *** telling me my service provider was switched. I informed *** I never asked for this, and *** told me that they would take me off the list. I was provided with no resolution, and now, received in the mail, information about the new fees I will be required to pay for "doing business" with Arcadia Power unless I opt out within 3 days. The April 9 email, which looked like spam or a phishing attempt, said they are changing their terms and conditions going into effect April 8. I never signed up so had no reason to think this would apply to me. A separate email on April 9 said I had until April 10 to opt out (again going to an inbox I don't use for *** bills).

Thank you for bringing ***’s complaint to our attention. Arcadia Power takes all complaints about our platform extremely seriously and have already reached out via email to hopefully address in detail and hopefully resolve any concerns.
Upon receiving the initial email from ***, we started the process of returning him to ConEd as his electricity supplier. As we do for all members who wish to not participate in Price Alerts, we will cover any charges associated with this switch. Also, his account with us has been canceled per his request and he will no longer be an Arcadia Power member.
Please know that we would be happy to refund ***, however Arcadia Power has not issued any charges directly as *** never enrolled directly in our Bill Pay program. Also, the rate of energy he paid for on your utility bill is lower than what his rate was previously. If he for any reason find that this is not the case, we have reached out and offered a refund for the difference.
Should *** or the Revdex.com wish to discuss this further, we can be contacted at .

I will just add that *** told me that this was an illegal “slam” practice. I had to waste my time. I also did not know whether it was *** or Arcadia that I had to contact. I understand that Arcadia is a startup and am somewhat sympathetic knowing small business owners myself . However, they need to follow the law. This is an unfair and deceptive practice and they are conceding here not because of this complaint but because they do not want the New York regulator coming after them. If they want to do this or they need to wait for he law to change. If it does change, consumers will likely have protections to prevent this from happening. I will refile this if what they promised does not occur.

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Regards

On April 23 2018 Arcadia Power stole $ 1400 from my checking account by overcharging and then debiting my account for $ 1563.54 for a $ 163.54 bill. They have yet to return the funds they stole from my account

Thank you for bringing ***’s complaint to our attention. Arcadia Power takes all complaints about our platform extremely seriously and hopefully we can explain where there was cause for concern and what we’ve done to remediate the issue. On April 23, *** emailed Arcadia Power that we had overcharged him $1,400 above the amount necessary of $163.54. Arcadia Power responded immediately via both email and phone on that day to express our concern and started our refund process. On 4/26, when the payment settled, we refunded the $1400 and requested ‘Faster Funding’ through our bank to ensure *** would receive his money as quickly as possible. *** also informed us that the withdraw caused him to incur a bank overdraft, we began an additional refund for $98 on 4/24 to cover any fees that this withdraw had caused. As the refund is being processed as an ACH payment it can take 7-10 business days for the funds to process through his bank, our records show both transactions of $1,400 and $98 will reflect in his bank account on 5/1/2018. Please see attached screenshot of the amounts being refunded. It is important to note that members of our Customer Experience Team, Billing Team, and our Management Team have been in consistent contact by phone and email through this process with *** to keep him informed of the refund amount, process, and timeline and to offer any possible resolution including a three-way call with *** and his bank. Even after this complaint, our team is at the ready to support *** whenever he needs. We are committed to a positive experience for all of our members and are putting in a better system of check and balances to prevent any future overdrafts. Should *** or the Revdex.com wish to discuss this further, we can be contacted at ***.

I partly signed up for their Price Alert service, but never completed the application. I got emails encouraging me to complete the sign up process but never did. Then suddenly my local energy supply was switched to them! This is a sham and you should stay far away from this company.

I am very pleased that Arcadia Power allows me to contribute to clean energy. It is easy to transition from my previous power company. Their service is quite responsive.

I've been a customer for about two yeats and I've never had a problem. The change over from Georgia Power was seamless. As promised, there is very little increase in my utility bill, and I love knowing I'm supporting green energy.

They use deceptive practices to get you to sign up. Customer service repeatedly lied or ignored me about the sign up gift, often taking days to answer if they even bothered. I sent a request to cancel and immediately received a response asking why, but they again did not fulfill my request. Just remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Arcadia advertised a 'free' *** home mini device when signing up for their premium service. I promptly signed up for the service, excited about the prospect of the device. I was told (and I have records of) that the device would be shipped "the 2nd or 3rd week of February". I inquired several times with customer service hearing that "my name is on the next list for shipment" and I've not received the device, any update, any update from the shipper, or any other information.

For heavily advertising a device they claimed would ship, they've not been responsive, helpful, or informative about what's going on. I've since closed my account, but this is false advertising.

Thank you for alerting us to this issue, we have reached out through email to ensure the promotions is sent.

The *** Home Mini was ordered and is shown as successfully delivered on ***s website. I have attached a screenshot and the tracking number is: ***.

Please feel free to reach out to us at [email protected] for any further clarification or questions about this matter.

The company website advertises itself as "A+ Accredited" with the Revdex.com, but they're A-, per the Revdex.com website. https://www.arcadiapower.com/about-us/

We expect this to be updated shortly. We pride ourselves on our Revdex.com accreditation and we hope that we'll be back to our A+ rating as soon as possible. All the best, Amelia

Arcadispower’s website is extremely misleading, claiming it will provide residential renewable energy, and that energy used would be deducted from other (existing) energy bills. They advise discounting auto payments from primary electric utility, that they would handle bills. There is initially a check to see if their “service” is available in your local area. I have lots of screenshots of Arcadia power.com. When signing up for the “service”, I didn’t @ first finish filling out the form. I was actively perished, by email (maybe calls?) to finish form to enroll.

I am all for-and would prefer to have-alternative/renewable energy. I was delighted that I was using some. It would be great to simply help financially support it, but I am not in a position to do so. Payments were automatically taken from my bank account. I (finally) looked at the bills, since August, and discovered that my electric bills did not reflect a change or savings.

I asked for a refund of pmts: 14.50/month x 7 months: $99.05. I was referred to billing, who sent an email denying my request.

I’m sorry to do this; I admire their intention, but I do want my money refunded as well as more succinct and specific information.

Thank you!

Again, I support alternative/renewable energy - but can do so only if taking advantage of it.

Date: Thu, Apr 5, 2018 at 4:04 PMSubject: Revdex.com Complaint IDTo: ***Hi ***, My name is Amelia M and I'm the Customer Experience Manager at Arcadia Power, I wanted to reach out about the complaint from ***. I'm so sorry we didn't get back to you sooner, we try to be very responsive to all Revdex.com complaints and are ensuring we get all complaints directed to me as soon as possible moving forward.I looked over *** account and I believe the confusion comes from she signed up to our Evergreen Membership which is an additional cost as opposed to our 50% Membership which is free. Our 50% Membership is available to most people so a fair amount of our advertising is for those members. Unfortunately, not all utilities are compatible with our 50% Membership so we created our Evergreen Membership so people can still support clean energy with Arcadia Power at a small additional cost. We understand that this may be confusing for our Evergreen Members and do our best to ensure the signup process is clear and informative. For your reference here is our FAQ answer dedicated our our Evergreen Members explaining why they cannot sign up for Free. I've also included a screenshot of her welcome email where we say she is enrolling in our 100% Evergreen Membership and that we will withdraw a monthly payment. As *** was an active member from July through February we cannot issue a refund for the 7 months of billing. Had this been a first statement we would have been much more likely to accommodate a member who was confused about their account but after 7 months we assume she would have noticed the charges and been aware of the billing process. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions about this complaint. I am happy to answer any questions. All the best, Amelia

I have had a free Arcadia account for about a year and I love it. Honestly I usually don't even notice that I have it--my bills get paid automatically through Arcadia, and they cost exactly the same as they would if I were paying the power company directly. There's even a chart on my Arcadia account showing how many renewable watts I've used and how much carbon dioxide waste I've prevented. It's really neat!

I was actually really confused about how I, as a free customer, was helping at all, so I contacted Arcadia and was told about RECs, or Renewable Energy Certificates. Basically, Arcadia uses its profits to purchase RECs, which are like proof of using renewable energy. This, in turn, supports renewable energy sources by making renewable energy more in-demand. Simply paying your bill through Arcadia helps the company grow, and having a paid account helps even more. I'll do that as soon as my finances are a little more in order.

I just signed up with Arcadia Power for 100% clean energy. For some reason I thought it would cost me a bit more to go with clean energy, but as it turns out I saved $20 this month, and couldn't be happier.
When I signed up, I had a slight problem logging in -- my mistake, not theirs. I was able to get someone on the phone right away, and they helped me sort it out. Great customer service.

They do not keep their promises. Seems very shaddy to me.
