I love everything you do for the community!

Arnold's was contracted to complete a complete tear off and install new roof in April 2017 (est. date) but failed to provide quality workmanship.
Signed contract 4/18/17 with promise to have complete in 4-6 weeks, after many attempts to contact company with run around and transfer person to person and broken promises, project begins in early July. Upon completion of project, we noticed some visible flaws on the front of our house and with the gutters. Upon further inspection we found that the job was not completed with good workmanship as there were many visual flaws, previously leaking boards not replaced, cracked beams, etc. We reached out to company to have these issues addressed. After more run around and passing person to person the company repaired some but not all of the issues. After further investigation we found more issues when we had other roofing companies and contractors take a look at our roof and attic space. We provided Arnold's with these reports to try to come to an agreement on repairing their poor quality work. By mid 2018 we had dealt with just about everyone in the company including owner ***. As consumers we have declined signing any paperwork stating that the project is complete because it is not completed to our standards. Arnold's has now put a Lien on our home and refuses to acknowledge the issues that we have brought forth or communicate properly with us to satisfactorily complete the project.

Desired Outcome

Arnold's to acknowledge the flaws in their work and find a mutually agreed upon resolution by company and customer. Arnold's is not a trusted provider to complete the work. Compensation for the 1.5+ years of issues.

Currently the owner is involved in this project and they are working on a resolution.

Arnold?s is quick to respond and provides great service and advice. I recommend them highly and will continue to turn to them for all my roofing needs!

Great to work with.

I tried to give NO stars but apparently I can't do that.
I hardly know where to begin... I selected Arnold's Home Improvement because it seemed like a down to earth, family owned business. To be sure, I checked their Revdex.com rating and saw they were rated A+. What more did I need to know, right?? Now my question is: Who, and how much, did they have to pay for their A+ rating???

I signed a contract for a kitchen and bath renovation in October 2017. It is now November 2018 and they have yet to order even a single component of my kitchen materials. Not one. However, they claim they have 3 different sets of my bathroom materials??? If they have 3 separate sets of my bathroom materials, why, in the past year, did NO ONE call me to schedule the install?

After a year of waiting and calling, a subcontractor finally showed up 6 weeks ago to start the bathroom install. As soon as he got out of the truck he said, "This isn't going to happen today. They gave me the wrong materials." He left and no one from Arnold's even called to explain or apologize or to reschedule the install. I called Arnold's 2 weeks later to find out why I wasn't rescheduled - so they rescheduled me. This install was subsequently cancelled. I was rescheduled again. The day of the install (a Monday), no one showed up so I called Arnolds (clearly annoyed) and was told the subcontractor 'had some problems on the last job so he was running over' and "he didn't bother to call [Arnold's] on Friday to tell us he wouldn't be able to start [my] job as planned". Why had no one bothered to call me the previous Friday to inform me? By now I was truly *** and I was told it was MY fault because I had 'made changes' to my design. Yes, yes I did. So WHY weren't my 'changes' submitted, processed and ordered and WHY didn't I receive a phone call saying, "Great news, your materials are here so let's get you on the schedule"????? Remember, it has been OVER a YEAR. I asked to speak to a supervisor who advised me the subcontractor 'was sick' and had to take time off work to recover from bronchitis. I was getting all kinds of different excuses depending on who I talked to. Everyone was blaming 'circumstances' while also blaming some unknown office worker that they had fired. I asked the supervisor, "Why, after more than a year, have my kitchen materials not even been ordered?" Well, he wasn't sure but, he PROMISED all materials would be ordered by the end of the day and they would get me on the schedule for the kitchen install ASAP. Now I'm thinking, 'If you are able to promise it *** all be ordered TODAY, now that I'm mad as hell, why couldn't it have been ordered 365 days ago'?
Anyway, on Monday, the day MY install was to begin, they were AGAIN telling me there would be a delay - until Wednesday, and the job would be finished by Saturday. ***??? I was originally told it would be a 2 day job; I only have one bathroom! By now I am livid - with Arnold's and myself. At work that night, I started getting sick and I had to leave early to go home to take another dose of my blood pressure medicine. Thirteen months of waiting and now 12 hours of fuming over Arnold's complete and utter incompetence and unprofessionalism was now impacting my health.
On Wednesday, the subcontractor shows up. After less than an hour he says to me, "Um, did anyone at Arnold's talk to you about lead abatement?" Turns out, because I have an older home, I have lead which requires specialized handling and clean-up. And no, Arnold's never mentioned it. Now the job won't be done until next week. By the way, when I woke up Tuesday morning, I called the supervisor at Arnold's and cancelled my entire kitchen project. The anxiety, frustration and rage caused by Arnold's isn't worth having a heart attack over. Never again. I have started the process of finding a new contractor for my kitchen.
The really interesting thing is: Suddenly, I can't swing a cat without hitting someone with a similar Arnold's horror story. How the Revdex.com gave them an A+ is beyond me. But note: There are 44 total reviews - and 34 'complaints'. That's over 75%.

Failure to provide service within time frame specified in contrct.
Made $2407.00 payment on 5/31/18 to initiate work on two separate bathrooms. The company gave us a start date of 13-17 weeks. As of 11/7 we are at 23 weeks and counting. We have made attempts to reach out to the general manager *** through email and phone without response. In the last contact from the company on 9/24 we were told the material would be released from the manufacturer within 3-4 weeks and we would be contacted again. We are now 3 weeks past that period without explanation. Arnolds is a HORRIBLE company to do business with.

Desired Outcome

A substantial discount or full refund and we will take our business to a credible contractor.

We have been in constant contact with this customer regarding their bathroom project delays via email and by phone. If we need to submit proof of those emails please let me know. The customer now wants $1,000 off their bill or they want to cancel their contract. The materials were released from the factory on 11/20 and the customer was well aware of that and was okay with the time frame at that point. Our production manager called and emailed to set up a start date but the customer was in Arizona on vacation at the time and was not prepared to start their project. Our production manager told the customer to give us a call when they return from Arizona and we would get the job scheduled. They came back from Arizona and called and stated that they needed $1,000 off their project or they are going to cancel. Their contract states there is a 30% cancellation fee which works out to $2,407. We have time and materials invested in this job as well. We are currently waiting on the customers response.

I'm so grateful for the team from the first connection with the initial meeting, to the measurements and labor team. Everyone was kind and answered all my questions and concerns that I had.I can't thank them enough for bringing back the joy of loving my home again.

Thank you for choosing Arnolds! Your new siding is beautiful, we are so happy we could help!

Had a roof put on in May finished the roof in Sept.Have many issues, leaking, driveway broken, wrong material color Still not finished. Put a lien $
So many issues, I had leaks because they didn't cover the roof when they left and it rained they used the wrong drip edge Had a mess everywhere I stepped on a nail sticking up on the replacement sheet. They didn't put all the replacement sheets on. I have a concave hole and cracks in my driveway from the the truck with the shingles. A lot of issues with them coming and fixing no shows no calls. They just painted the inside ceiling and it bleed through. They had to come back and remove shingles in Sept and replace the wood they didn't do in the first place. It now looks like a patch job. So my 2 day roof turned into a nightmare that still is not finished and now they put a Lien for payment that is for more money than the contract that I was financing.. I had asked to speak to the owner on several occasions and he never acknowledge us.

Desired Outcome

I would like my driveway taken care of and for them to finish the job and take the Lien off my house and be reputable and call us or stop by. See the pictures and conversations that I have. Plus we have not been given anything to sign for completion.

We apologize for the inconveniences that you may have been caused. Many of the complaints listed in the above-mentioned paragraph have been addressed and corrected. We value each of our customers and strive to deliver great customer service as well as a quality job. It is clear that we missed the mark on this one.
Our project manager has been out to the home several times and our drywaller has an additional appointment with the customer November 11, 2018 to go over and correct those issues. The driveway issue is being worked on currently. As far as the lien on the customers home, that was placed for non-payment of her account, this is done to protect ourselves as a contractor. As soon as her account is paid in full, the lien will be released.

Customer Response • Nov 13, 2018

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
You truly did miss the ***. As far as the issues go. You have tried to fix them. I do have a drywall person coming. You can still see where the stain marks where they painted x2 over leaks. Point being this project started May 10th and ALL
Is still not resolved. I was informed by 2 project mgrs my driveway would not be taken care of now you have stated here you are working on it. What does that mean? I have an approval for financing through Arnolds. I have never received one thing regarding any moneys. So the Lien should of never been out in place. I feel we should be compensated for all the time taken off work, all the no call no shows and for 6 months of inconvenience for now 6 months of waiting and still not finished as of today.

Excellent customer service! Would definitely use them again!

I notified the company that I am selling my home and no longer need their services. I asked to cancel my order and a full refund of what I have paid.
I was told that to cancel the order, I would only receive $1200 of the $3500 I had put towards the total. I had been making payments, as the company agreed to take payments until 3/4 of the amount was paid, and they would order the supplies. The company states that they deduct 30% of the total amount from the refund for providing me with an estimate. That is all they did, was provide an estimate. I am elderly and living on social security alone. I cannot afford to lose the money that was paid into this roof. All I am asking for is the total amount refunded. I am trying to get rid of the house as I have a lot of things wrong with it. Can you please help me? Thank you

Desired Outcome

I am asking for my total refund. Not with 30% taken out from the company, as they only provided me with an estimate.

The customer signed her contract on March 5, which included a three day right to rescind, which gave her until March 8th at midnight to cancel their contract with no penalty. We then set up in house financing for her which is not something we normally offer. On March 13th we went out to her home and did the final remeasure on the project and on March 15th her permit was pulled, paid for and materials ordered. Once she had ¾ of her bill paid the project was to start. Her daughter contacted the office on September 20th and stated she wanted to cancel the project. We explained that the contract states if you cancel after the rescission date you will be responsible for 30% of the contract. She explained her situation and she was given an option of 30% or $1875 as her contract states or half of the roof done, because she had paid for half the job. She said she would give us a call back. We never received a call, the only correspondence that we received was this complaint on the Revdex.com site. We have done everything we could to try and accommodate this customer, but we still have a business to run at the end of the day and have to cover our expenses that we incurred preparing for this project.

Arnold?s Home Improvement is an awesome company. They take great pride in their work which shows in the work that they do. I love the fact that they give back to their community with the Ugly Roof Contest and the Free Veterans Roof that they do each year.

I contracted with this company in July 2016 for vinyl siding, gutters, down spouts, doors and hand rails. Work was begun in April 2017 and is still not completed as of today October 1, 2018. We have had to deal with e:mails not returned, phone calls not returned, incompetent workers, and now on the 4th supervisor to say the work will be completed this month. The handrails that were installed are completely worthless and are dangerous. We have to have another company come out and correct this mess. While vinyl siding was being installed we had to notify the company they were using two different types of siding and two different colors. "Oh we didn't think you would notice" was the reply. I would never recommend them to anyone unless you don't mind inferior workmanship and unprofessionalism.

Once we filed this complaint with Revdex.com Arnold's finally came and semi-completed the work on our property in late October, 2018. In November, 2018 without final billing or notification from them they placed a lien on our property. We came to a settlement on June 6, 2019 and we paid Arnold's $8,500 as final payment with the proviso that they will immediately release the lien on our property. They have cashed our check, we have a bank copy, and are now dragging if not outright refusing to release the lien on our property. Jason Arnold has no idea what the definition of honorable is because he certainly isn't. We have a signed letter from them agreeing to the payment and release of lien but apparently their signature means nothing.

Arnold's Home Improvements were outstanding and very professional. The crew that did our new roof were so friendly and very hard working. Our neighbors even commented how nice and polite they were and how thorough they were keeping the yard clean and picking up after themselves. Our new roof looks great and we are extreamly please with how its look on our home. I highly recommend them, outstanding crew. Thank you so much for a job well done.

Wonderful job done in a timely manner, everyone I talked to was very friendly and professional. I will recommend them.

Safety minded, proffesional job. I will hire them for future jobs. Thanks Guys for a job well done...

Arnold's performed contracted work at my home. Several things are falling apart. I have attempted to contact them and they will not return calls.
Arnold's performed home improvements six years ago. We paid cash around $20,000 for their service. Their is an outlet on the back patio that a plug cannot be inserted into and does not work. The front porch and steps are rotting and falling apart, with nails exposed. I had to pay Modern Floors and a plumber to replace the tile job in the bathroom they put in. The time was stained from a leaking toilet that was sealed properly. I have attempted to call their office and left several messages. The only response I get when I call is their staff says they are too busy to get back to me. I also found out after the work for our home was completed, he was told to finish the job that day before he left, because he was being fired. Their original estimator Babette was also fired for giving us false information on what could be done with our renovation.

Desired Outcome

I want repairs and reimbursement for the defective workmanship.

Installation issues with roof installed by Arnold's after 5 months. No response after 3 business days. Many issues prior to roof completion.
I signed a contract on 10-28-17 for a complete roof tear down and install (including some plywood replacement), and new gutters. This limited summary will be difficult as there are dozens of problems I have had with this job. I have the required details in written notes, pictures, texts and e-mails. At the start, Arnold's was a no-show twice for installation. Project manager never provided updates, and status updates were basically "we'll have to call you back" (which rarely happened). The roof job took 3 non-consecutive days (due to weather) and was complete 12-16-17. Crew did not perform daily trash/nail clean-up, it took numerous weekend hours of my time to clean all the debris. I had to call after a month had passed to ask when the gutters would be installed (the front fascia board was left exposed this entire time), when the damages to soffit and siding would be repaired, when would the nails be picked up, and to report a leak at a chimney. The gutters were finally installed on 1-31-18, and the leak repaired 2-9-18. Throughout February, I had my eye on several "buckled" places on the roof, noted other workmanship issues with the gutters, documented numerous interior ceiling nail-pops, and picked up nails. On 3-1-18 there was a heavy rainfall, and a large leak developed at a ventilation fan requiring a bucket. After calling to report it and getting the usual run-around, I asked for the owner (J***)/manager (B***) e-mail. A lengthy letter was written to both summarizing the many issues with the job. B did meet with me to go over everything, scheduled a repair on the interior ceilings, and said that J would contact me by 3-19-18 regarding price reduction on the job. He said that the buckles in the roof required removing shingles, removing the creases in the underlayment, and laying new shingles. The person who performed the ceiling repair didn't have all necessary equipment to do the job, and left plaster smears on several walls. When I still hadn't been contacted as promised, I left very generic negative reviews on the popular websites about Arnold's. D arrived 3-26-18 without notification and did a quick repair on two buckled sections, new shingles not installed. On 4-3-18 I met with B and J. The overall tone of the meeting was "please give us another chance" on another project. NO WAY. They were not pleased on my negative reviews and wanted sympathy for how that would hurt future business. I stressed that I simply wanted a price reduction, and added that I was in a position stuck a roof that I knew will have continual issues covered by a warranty from a company I had zero faith in the ability to repair. I was offered a 4% price reduction and refused that as it didn't even cover my lost waged due to missed appointments and time cleaning up debris. A further price miniscule price reduction was offered, in the end I paid the amount I felt was fair for the job.
Now to the reason I am filing the complaint. Since the temperatures have risen, I have had time to look at the roof/gutters in more detail. There is not one roof section that doesn't have buckling. Shingles are loose. Shingles have pulled back from the chalk-line in the valleys. Water getting behind soffit in one area. The roof still has soft spots, which implied all bad plywood wasn't replaced. The buckling is either from creased/bubbled underlayment/ice guard that wasn't secured properly or improperly installed plywood. It needs completely torn down and redone. I sent an email to J/B*** with pictures asking for either the roof replaced and installed correctly or a full refund. Three business days have passed with no response.

Desired Outcome

It is clear that Arnold's has serious workmanship and customer service issues, and at this point I don't trust them to tear down the roof and install it correctly. I want a complete refund for the roof installation so that it can be completed by a competent company.

Per consumers response on 6-06-18, the dispute appears to be resolved.

I had a very good experience with Arnolds. They remolded my master bathroom and added a backsplash to my kitchen. They entire staff was polite and professional. They even sent a delicious cookie recipe with the ingredients. Would highly recommend this company.
