Signature/Economy Car Rentals is the worst car rental company I've rented from, and I've rented from many
I once had a car rental company in West Palm Beach decline to rent me a car (at first) due to an issue with my credit card or documents I had a rental car company in Orlando tell me they had no cars to rent me because people hadn't brought cars back However, this company takes the trophy on being the most aggravating, upcharging company I've had the displeasure of dealing with
They are SUPER low rated on line (just above star) They must make money by sheer volume of people, because at least 20% of people there the day I was there canceled their reservations and said forget it I actually used stronger language, and the rep cancelled my reservation for being rude I did give her a sincere apology, because I should not have lost my temper, and Diana was forgiving and subsequently helpful, to her credit They don't tell you, outright, that they will not let you rent without PROOF of insurance, IN HAND, from your insurance company that shows comp and collision coverage or else you buy their insurance for $20-$per dayThey also don't tell you that they are going to put a hold on your card for whatever your insurance deductible is ($minimum hold to $1000) They don't tell you that, if you show a FL driver's license, you're limited to miles per day They don't tell you all this--until you're standing there--so that they can upcharge you or put you in a situation where you'll incur charges to offset the initially-very-appealing rate, which is now at least double And if you didn't have a high credit limit on your credit card, you've now just burned up your vacation spending just securing a car that was supposed to cost $but has $1000-$in holds and upcharges
Also, just getting picked up from the airport was a nightmare I watched other car rental shuttles come and go multiple times while we and others waited minutes for the shuttle, and another hours at the rental car facility
PAY MORE TO GO WITH A REPUTABLE PLACE!

WORST COMPANY!!! I'm not surprised to see all the same posts and I really wished I had read them before! Long wait for shuttleLonger wait in line to get carTOTAL SCAM having to show proof of insurance or buy theirs in order to get car! Advised this is not on their confirmation itinerary and is a SCAM to make money!! Now fighting with them to get a refund which of course they are denying!

Insurance policies that are borderline scams, purchase extra insurance that will double or triple quoted rental rate or have holds placed on credit card of up to $2000-$dollarsPoorly maintained vehicles and poor customer service

I had a great experience with this establishmentThe shuttle that picked me was quick, and the driver was friendlyMy only concern was that my confimation didn't specifically state that the agency was not in the airport
Upon arriving at the counter, they asked if I wanted to upgrade to a convertible, and I simply declinedI also declined the insurance, but I did opt for the toll transponder option which was great

I recently booked travel through *** and Economy / Signature Car Rentals was listed as a provider partner so I booked a car rentalWhen I arrived to pick to the vehicle there was a push to up-charge every rental option When I declined the company's rental insurance and instead opted to use my own insurance I was told that I would need to place a $deposit / hold on my credit card I usually would have declined such a request, but since I was in FL to visit my dying parent in hospice time was of the utmost urgencyDuring my car "inspection" I identified at least a dozen kicks, dents, etcto the person conducting the process because they were not indicted on the checkout sheet He assured me that they were aware of all of the issues associated with the car and only indicated critical issues on the form I drove off the lot with the car but immediately got a sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach I knew they were unethical and decided not to do business with themI called the company's # within ten minutes of getting the vehicle and said that id like to cancel the agreement They said they did not give refunds and that there was nothing they could or would do to assist I asked to speak with a manager and they said he would not be in until 3:even though it was 8:in the morning I also called *** and filed a complaintI brought the car back when the manager was there and returned it They told me that I would forfeit my $and I told them it was an acceptable loss to get out of business with themThat's when things got really interesting Upon cheof the vehicle they "found" an issue with the vehicles windshieldI explained that the car had never left my possession and that any issue with the car was there when I picked up the car When I pointed out that none of the other dozen plus knicks, dings, etcwere indicated on the checkout sheet and asked to see the person who completed the inspection, they said that didn't know who completed the process because he failed to sign the form They said they were keeping my $depositWhen I protested they presented another "option" They tried to get me to sign an accident report and said that if I did they would give me my $back As we were talking another customer overheard and shared that they just tried to do the same thing to her I refused to sign anything and called the Orange County Sherriff's department to file a police reportThe deputy came out and tried to mediate the situationThey also tried to fast talk him but he saw through their efforts He could not adjudicate the issue because it is civil in nature, however he noted all of the irregularities and their "fraudulent nature" in the police reportA civil case is now pending In the meantime they have not only posted the $rental fee plus the $deposit to my credit card, they have also posted an additional $mystery feeNo one at the agency has been cooperative When I called to pursue additional recourse through their customer service I was told that the company is headquartered in Costa Rica and gave me an e-mail address I asked for the international phone number but they said that one was not availableThis is fraud at it's most basic level!!!!

miss lead at rental with no transponder offered for toll plaza now i'm being told that I need to pay $for each unpaid = $for two $tolls

This company strong armed everyone in line to buy insurance I declined and was required to put a $1,deposit down for the car rental The day after my rental return I checked my credit card and they overcharged me by 44% I am currently in process of disputing the charge on my cc They give the cheapest quotes to corral people into their off airport location As you are trapped at there location and stuck with their strongarm tactics into purchasing insurance that cost more than the rental itself The rental was quoted at $20/day online and the insurance was quoted at the counter at $23/day DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY They are a scam!

I should have turned around and went back to the airport, but my family and I were too tiredNow I am stuck with the aftermathHere are my issues with my experience with Signature/Economy Rent A Car in chronological order:
Hard to find where Economy shuttle was picking up at the airport (it was not labeled even though all other rental agencies shuttle location was labeled) and took at least minutes to get a shuttle once we found the right spot
When we got to rental agency (off airport):
aRental counter very tall and off-puttingShorter people would have a hard time just seeing over the counter
bI was told I had to show 'written proof' of my own insurance, otherwise I would have to buy theirsMy family and I were tired, so we paid the extra $15/day to get their lowest level of liability, which covers nothing ($deductible)
cProcess of actually picking up the car was very confusingEmployees all speak Spanish to one another so you feel very alienated and hard to get information
dIt was dark in the area where the car inspection happened
eThe rental on my *** itinerary listed that my Amount Due at pickup - which was supposed to include taxes and fees, was supposed to be $Instead it was $Yes, more than doubleIt included the worthless liability I was brow-beaten into taking
I only really needed the car for days of my day trip, but had decided to keep for the whole time because it was going to be so cheap, to save myself the hassle of returning it earlySo during the rental I wanted to return the car early since the price had actually increased to much, and I found out there is no early termination - I was stuck for the whole time even
Now the really crazy part, and in my mind, criminal, partWhen I returned the car, they pointed out a very small ping in the windshield that I had not noticedNot sure if it was there or not when I picked it upI don't remember getting a ping in the windshield, but it could have happened while I had the carGiving them the benefit of a doubt, I told them we could file with my insuranceThey said I owed the whole amount then - $I said no and called my insurance company - who told me not to pay them anything thereThey told me I had no choice and would not take me to the airport until I paid and if I tried to get alternate transportation they would put me on a 'no fly' list, so I wouldn't be able to get on my flightThat sounded ludicrous to me, but we were getting close to flight time, my daughter was getting very upset (it was just myself and her) and I was honestly pretty unnerved at the whole processThe woman next to us at the counter was swearing up a storm because she did not have written proof of insurance, so they were telling her she needed to buy insuranceSo, I signed their papers, got the ride to the airport, and then called my credit card to dispute the $chargeWhat a nightmareI am still on edge from the experience

People, PLEASE, PLEASE READ! It was a horrible, horrible experienceIt almost ruined my whole vacation because of this Signature/Economy Rent A Car place
It happened to me exactly like most of the people here have experiencedI wish I had read these reviews before I rented the car here I chose this rental place because it was among the cheapest choices listed on *** website It was quoted $230/week for a full-size car from 12/19/to 12/26/with all taxes and fees My family of landed in Orlando airport and found out that this place wasn't at the airport After calling them and getting the instructions as to how to take their shuttle to their location, I was waiting for half
hour before their shuttle showed up (Blane), it took around 5-10mins to get to their location After waiting in line for 30mins, a young and very rude lady called me up, she told me that I need to buy insurance from them I told her that I would like to use my own car insurance instead, she then told me I need to have a hard copy of the declaration page of my
insurance (who would carry that?), I told her that I didn't have it with me but I have the policy on my phone or I could log in my account and show her my policy, she told me NO, I need to have the physical copy of the insurance, otherwise I have to buy their insurance I told her, well I used my American Express card and they also cover the insurance for me, she said
well, I still have to buy the liability insurance because the card does not cover the liability, otherwise I can't get the car off the lot I then asked her what is the cheapest insurance that I can get for liability, she said $20/day which is $140/week What a rip-off insurance ..., $20/day just for liability I was so mad ..., the insurance cost almost as much as renting a car
I angrily told her if I could talk to her manager, to which she said, my manager is not here, but I have the supervisor here however he would tell you the same thing, I said well I need to talk to him anyway, she said ok, she then turned to the right and asked the guy next to him, can you come here for a second? the guy came and said well, it is what it is because this is the holiday season the rate is higher than the summer ..., I said why the *** are the insurance rates different depending on the seasons ?they both then gave me a bunch of ** reasons
finally she told me well, you can go back to the airport if you want ...I was so mad ..., it was around 10PM, I almost decided to go back to the airport but I was not sure if they would take us back to the airport with their shuttle (I later read some reviews that they wouldn't allow you to take their shuttle back to the airport, you would have take the taxi if you decline to go through with the reservation) I had no choice but to go through the process, she then asked me to sign on some electronic pad that I can't see anything, finally she gave me the receipt that showed the charges of $412/week whereas the quote from the internet was $230/week (They also charged $for the deposit that won't show on the receipt) ..., she also tried to trick me into buying the sunpass for $35/week for the tolls and I knew that there were no tolls around except for a toll on the route for $so I declined the sunpass offer I then waited for another 20mins to get the car ..., they gave me the nissan altima with miles on it and it was out of alignment
*** I was so mad about the insurance and the car, I forgot to pay the toll on my way out of the car rental place and went through the sunpass lane ...I heard that I would be charged another $for the toll violation from the car rental place ..., Oh my god, what a nightmare ..., I have rented cars in a lot of places but never had to go through such a pain before the vacation
By the way, I called *** and asked why the quote I got from them was $and with the insurance of $140, it should be around 370, why I got charged $412, the *** then
called the Signature car rental, they told *** that the quote from the internet didn't include airport fee, road tax ..., whatever
I wonder if there are enough complains against this car rental place, *** would drop it from their search result ..., I did mention that to that *** rep, she said she will
talk to her manager about it
PEOPLE, PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE

HORRIFIC and that's putting it mildlyWe arrived at 7pm and didn't leave until 2am on New Year's EveYou have over cars parked on top of each other in various lots some marked some not, in no apparent order and on top of each other with the keys left in the car and the doors unlockedYou have no idea where any of these cars are parkedManagement and many of your staff were very rude and basically could care less about all the families you left strandedIt was only because of one sympathetic employee that my car was foundIt took us minutes driving and walking up down several very poorly lit lots before I found my carSome of the lots are not even paved and are covered in strawA few of us as a last resort, called the police and when they arrived they said they come to your business for the same reason at least once a weekYour staff offered no explanation, no compensationWhatever business model you are using, it does not workYour greed will end up biting you in the ***ANYONE THAT READS THIS, DO NOT PARK YOUR CAR HERESPEND THE EXTRA MONEY AND GO TO A REPUTABLE PARK AND FLY LOCATION

Never, ever do business with this companyWhat a big mistake!

Think twice before using Economy Rent a Car aka Signature Rent a CarI rented thru Travelocity and chose them for a total of $for daysWhen I got to the counter, the amount doubled to over $
They use shady business practices to force people into using their own WAY OVER PRICED insurance, which costs more per day than the car rentalsAt the counter they tell you they ONLY ACCEPT A PRINTED COPY OF YOUR INSURANCE COVERAGE as proof of insurance, and if you do not have the print-out then you must use thier policies that start at $25/day for the cheapest one
Later, if you complain enough, they tell you that you could have used your phone app (I have Gieco, which has an app that shows coverage) and the people at the counter should have suggested it, but if you already left theres nothing they can do to help you

This car rental company should be named "scams are us"
We had $deposit hold on our credit card since that is the deductible on our personal car insurance policy We were told upon returning the car that the $deposit was credited back and it was not So now my husband has to dispute the credit and spend valuable time sorting out nonsense
We picked up the car with 1/tank of gas and were expected to return it with a full tank
They tried to sell us a pass for the toll roads in the amount of $and when we declined we were basically told we were ignorant For the week we had the car we spent about $on tolls

I too was lied to regarding the fees I was going to incur using this company I was told to bring my personal car insurance policy for proof of insurance so I wouldn't have to buy theirs They declined my full coverage insurance and was going to charge me $25/day for insurance I declined and was just about to go back to airport so they just grabbed another number out of the air of $15/day additional I was tired, frustrated and just wanted to get to my destination so I agreed I have NEVER had a company misrepresent their insurance demands as this company did I was not the only upset customer at the counter that night either Then I get a dirty car with NO gas in it Literally; I started it up and the gas warning light came on to get gas The dash gave me a mile range to get gas I prayed all the way to the closest gas station that I would make it there The windshield was so dirty; I had to pull over and purchase window cleaner and paper towels so I could see properly I ended up paying over 80% more than my reservation quote If this operation was located at the airport; I would have definitely not rented the car

What a nightmare After hours waiting in line to pick up the car that was reserved for $and I had my insurance card with me The would not let me take the car without the declaration of liability and charged another 150$ Total now $This was a rip off and I would never rent again from themIt appeared they were doing this to all the customers I've never had to travel with my insurance policyTotal misrepresentation They should be put out of business

Got a spot there for my son for three days so he could get to and from the airport on his own Not knowing better he left some cash in his glove box and it was stolen when he picked it up Also in three days when he picked it up the dirt on the car was so deep he had to go to a gas station just to wash the windows enough to see out of them I have no idea where they parked it but it went there clean and in three days was coated in a sticky sandI tried to talk to a manager and the staff went dumb I guess there are no managers or they are in hiding When I finally told them about the theft they showed me a pre printed ticket with the advisor that they are not responsible for whatever their valets steal from your car It appears this is a common problem thereCustomer service is a joke
I will never leave my car there again and if you do make sure you don't leave a house key with your keys as they seem the type to visit your home while you are away

Overcharged , lied to , hit with several hidden chargesrented a Nissan Versa( base model )The care had dents a scratches everywhere! I was charged $for one week

Terrible company they will lie and cheat you out of your money. They try and force you to take their insurance claiming you do not have proof of insurance coverage, current ID cards will not work even if you have your full policy they will claim it doesn't say coverage for loss of use, hasn't been a problem with any other RAC. If you still refuse they will tell you that they have removed it but it hasn't been. Car was dirty missing one floor mat, battery in key bob was dead. They also try to trick you into taking a toll transponder telling you there are toll roads everywhere and it will save you money, it doesn't very few toll roads you have to use and they are inexpensive
