This company is a bunch of scammers looking to collect fees from innocent people who paid their taxes to prove to them that they paid their taxes. They garnished my wages, WITHOUT ANY NOTICE about exactly when the garnishment would start or how much they were going to take out my wages so that I could prepare financially for the loss of income, nor did they ask permission from me to do so. I've provided them with my W2's, evidence that they taxes they are claiming are due were in fact paid (3 years ago may I add, if there was a discrepancy with my return 3 years ago, why is it just now coming to light? makes me very suspicious of them). Now that they have the evidence they need, they tell me that they can't give me any specifics on when a refund will be issued. They said it "depends on the workload" and that refund checks are only issued at the end of the month. They said if it is not processed this month, it could be processed next month and the refund check issued at the end of next month - but they can't give any guarantees that it will be issued at that point because "it depends on the workload". I wasn't given notice on when or how much money was going to be garnished from my paychecks. Now that this money was STOLEN from my paychecks, I have bills that I'm not able to pay - sending those bills into collections. This is my livelihood these scam artists are messing with. I proved that I paid my taxes that they decided on a whim to claim I didn't pay, they should issue an immediate refund of the money they took from me without my permission to do so.

Review: Repeated and continued mailings and phone calls for supposed delinquent tax, after proof of original payment provided in addition to receipts provided and verification of payment by local tax collectors.Desired Settlement: Investigation of Berkheimers for questionable illegitimate collections and collection practices.

Review: Itt seems the State of Pennsylvania has contracted this company for collection of local taxes...this was kept very under the radar and in fact this company says they sent notification and tax forms in October 2011 (nobody expects tax forms in October and even IF sent went largely unnoticed as they hide behide state law saying they were sent making me responsible... I contend the fact they were sent or at the very least distinguishable as factual tax documents from a government agency...especially in October given that tax forms and earning statements are normally sent in January.)

My employer did inform me that local taxes were going to be withheld starting in 2012 but no mention was made of this going private so given that I owed zero dollars and zero cents in taxes to the municipality and actually was due a refund of less than a dollar I for once thought government bureaucracy finally got something right. Imagine my change in feeling upon receiving a notice I have to pay a penalty for being delinquent in filing a tax form. I pay my taxes...and I received nothing from this company saying I needed to file with them and I want not only this fees waived but restraints on private companies who (if you follow their chain of endevors) are simply deviate collectors without conscience.

I am not looking for personal gain but AM looking for bringing to justice companies who look to profit from people who have done nothing wrong and use the cover of twisting government to do so. This company is a perfect example as they perpetuate this fraud in collecting taxes as they do not obey proper tax information code in January information providence or assimulation.Desired Settlement: This company follow proper tax collection etiquette or be gone.

Tax information must be sent during the proper time frame being after the end of any calendar year and before January 31 of the following year (for those who need a road map...sent after yeaarly records are in so after the first week of January but no later than January 31.)

Mailings must not only be sent in that time frame but clearly marked "IMPORTANT TAX DOCUMENTATION" and the name of the municipality would be helpful on the mailing as they are making quite a bit of money from this they should mke it easier for people to differentiate proper tax documents from the junk mail.

Hell...they should pay me for these simple scraps of logic.

Very truly yours,

Review: On several occasion I have asked for proof of 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 taxes they say is owed. in 2007 with out telling me the amount owed they took 850.00 out of check, When I call and ask for verification I'm told this is owed and thats it. I was also told on 8-1-13 when speaking to them I owe [redacted] school tax. These are 2 different schools and are not same. Then when asked where to send proof that local tax is taken out of check no one returns calls. Since I was told I was being charged for that and proof that local taxes are payroll deducted.Desired Settlement: I want proof and proof that they included what is payroll deducted. And then if no money owed a refund and apology and better management of tax paying dollars

I am rejecting this response because: all I want is the physical proof of what taxes is supposedly owed and Berkheimers has failed to provide that documentation that I requested. I have tried calling and they dont want to provide. Please send me the place to file a complaint that does over see Berkheimers

Review: This "business" continuously sends notification of past due earned income taxes plus late fees for me, my husband, and my two daughters. Our daughters have not resided nor worked in this area since the year 2000. I have sent letters (of which I have copies) to them about their not being in our house and letters explaining no tax is due from me and my husband. I have been retired since 1999. My husband paid his earned income tax of which I have sent them proof, but to no avail. Nobody in that tax office cares. They remain indifferent to my communications. In their notification letters, this "business" has statements with a mild threatening tone (at least that is what I interpret it to be) e.g. This is the third time, etc. My husband and I need some assurance from them that the harrassment will stop. We owe nothing to Berkheimer Associates--the correspondence comes from Berkheimer Tax Administrators PO Box 251 Lehigh Valley, PA 18002-5146. I told my husband this morning, that this is the last straw--that I have to file with the Revdex.com a complaint about their poor record keeping, lack of communication (except to collect money they're not entitled to inaddition to all kinds of late fees). While I checked on the web today, I could not believe the number of complaints already filed against them. I may have to contact our local township to think twice about giving Berkheimer Associates the contract for collection. It is frustrating when no one responds to us save for the nasty collection letters.Desired Settlement: This "business" must update their records, must respond to individuals in a humanly manner, must not ignore correspondence from innocent taxppayers, and must rephrase their wordage in their letters. By the way I telephoned them and the last time, the rep said to simply mark Retired and send the form back to them. I did just that. Lo and behold, I received another past due notice. Once again, it appears no one in those offices care. It's so upsetting when I find four white envelopes in the mail box from Berkheimer--one for me, one for my husband, and one each of our two daughters. I know it's the same request for money plus fees which none of us owe.

The purpose of this Revdex.com complaint is to have this "business" STOP sending these notices to me, my husband and our two daughters since we owe them and our township nothing.

Review: On June 28th 2013 Berkheimer garnished my wages in the amount of $169.17. I made a call and found out that they took money out of my paycheck for taxes from 2009 that they had as not being paid. Yet I have never received any notice they were going to garnish my wages. I knew I had paid. I was able to get a copy of the cancel check from my back and prove that my taxes were paid. I faxed over what I was told they needed and was told it would be reviewed and my money would be sent back. Last week end of July I called to check on the status and was told that its "still in line to be reviewed". Called again today August 5th 2013 and was told they same thing. Was also told that it takes 6-8 weeks to review according to them. I think that is ABSOUTLY crazy. It should not take that long to review something expecially when its something as simple as my item is. As a single mom who lives paycheck to paycheck taking that kind of money out of my paycheck in error and take this long to return is unexceptable. I have had to scrap by the last 5 weeks to make up for this money being missing and they dont care at all. Something needs to change on their end it should not take that long to reivew issues.Desired Settlement: Change your process on how items are reviewed and the turn around time.

Review: I was contacted by Berkheimer in a letter dated 1/2/13 about unpaid taxes to the [redacted] School District for Real Estate Taxes. I informed Berkheimer on 1/4/13 that the taxes were indeed paid and I had my mortgage company fax them a copy of the cancelled check on 1/4/13. I spoke to a gentleman named [redacted] at Berkheimer and told him the Check #[redacted] was sent to out made payable and paid the bill in full to the [redacted] School District on 7/25/12 in the amount of $3,075.08 and cashed on 8/14/12. [redacted] informed me on the phone that this would satisfy the issue. Today I received a certified letter from [redacted] Law Associates claiming the taxes have still not been paid. Berkheimer was supposed to handle this and they have been sent all the information that should satisfy this issue. I, [redacted] & [redacted] have sent the information to Berkheimer. Now I am being threatened to be sued because of unpaid taxes that were in fact paid. I have done all that was asked of me and then some to take care of this situation. It is now Berkheimer's responsibility to make this situation right.Desired Settlement: I would like this taken care of so I am no longer receiving harassing letters about unpaid taxes that are in fact paid. Berkheimer needs to fix this situation as soon as possible. I have sent them all the information already. Why has this not been taken care of???

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:

It's been 4 months since I've sent all the information to Berkheimer to settle this. This should be very simple. A check was issued 7/25/12 & cashed 8/14/12. Why is this even an issue? It was paid in full & on time. Do you want to know how many times Berkheimer has contacted me to tell me they're going to resolve this? ZERO! I have sent them a copy of the front & back of the cashed check on 4 occasions. In the time it took their attorney to fire off his response they could've simply researched this and fixed it. Berkheimer has failed to explain why this has not been taken care of. I'd love to believe that this will be handled but it's been 4 months since they've sent their 1st letter and still I sit here today without this being resolved. It's very simple Taxes were due & I have paid said taxes and have shown proof that they were paid! Why has this not been handled??? No one from Berkheimer has even attempted to contact me. Why not? I've seen no intention on Berkheimer's end to rectify this situation. [redacted] or anyone that would like to fix this can call me @ [redacted]. I'd love to know why this hasn't been handled yet. There's no reason I should be receiving letters from [redacted] Law Associates threatening litigation for taxes that were paid more than 8 months ago! If [redacted] would like to explain why this is still not fixed I'd love to hear from him.

Regards,

We pay our taxes through Berkheimer associates. We sent a check at the beginning of September to pay our school tax early. They lost our check. We sent another and after 2 weeks, it had not been processed. I called to ask if I paid online, would I be assured that they would not cash our check. They said I would not have to worry about that. I paid online and the next day the found our check and cashed it as well, totaling over $9000, leaving our account -$700. We called right away and I was assured someone would call me back the next day so we could resolve it. No one called so we had to file an investigation and dispute with our bank.

Review: Today I received 4 “pre collection letters” from Berkheimer for local per capita tax. Account #s [redacted]) and [redacted]) were both paid online today. A letter was sent to the [redacted] in July addressing the fact that at that time I had received 4 letters for the per capita tax with copies of the letters received and inquiring as to which one I should pay…. At this time I selected the one which I believed correct, the additional 2 accounts [redacted] ([redacted]) and [redacted] ([redacted]) were not paid as I believe they are erroneous accounts.

I would like these accounts deleted as I believe the last 4 of the social security numbers attached to the account ([redacted] and [redacted] respectively) have no known association to me.

Additionally on September 27, 2013 I received notice from the same company that I had failed to pay Earned Income Tax for 2012. I had contacted them providing information and documentation that showed I had filed and paid EIC for 2012, this they did rectify. My issue is their repeated creation of false accounts in my name and address and expecting that it is my responsibility to correct mistakes in their database. I am not employed by them to perform this task, nor do I pay taxes to fund such a inefficient operation out to collect fees inappropriately, like charging double at the checkout and only paying on those who challenge. My employer pays me in excess of $50.00/hr for services contracted, if they wish my services for which they have no contract that is my going rate. My obligations with respect to taxes is to pay those which are due, and file appropriately, NOT to fix their database.Desired Settlement: Any further database inaccuracies for which I receive billing will be deemed intentional and the appropriate legal processes followed for which they will become responsible for payment of my time and my attorney fees. Three errors with respect to one taxpayer is beyond reasonable. They need appropriate checks and balances with respect to their databases.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

The business has stated to me via e-mail that the erronious accounts have been deleted.

Review: I received two bills and a 2012 tax form in the mail this week from berkeimer tax administrator. One bill was for my school per capita taxes for 2013 and the other was a collections bill from berkeimer for my school per capita taxes for 2012 the third was a earned income tax return for 2012. I called the company located in [redacted], Pa (###-###-####) to figure out why I was being bill for 2012 since I moved into my current residence at the end of the 2012 year. The young lady on the phone explained to me if you live in [redacted] county for 1 day you have to pay the full years tax. Which was fine with me however, I couldn't understand why I had to pay a $12.50 cost Pre-collection letter penalty on top of the tax when this was the first I had seen the bill. The lady told me I had to pay the penalty because the bill was late. I asked to talk with a manager and she said, "ok." then the phone call was disconnected. I called back a few minutes later since nobody called me back even though I gave them my phone number in case we got disconnected. I talked to another lady. I again explained to her my concerns and asked for an explanation when she began to talk very loudly and attacking. Telling me I received a bill six months ago and there was nothing they could do about the billing. I again asked her how the bills could be late if I just received them two of the three say original notice and all the outside envelopes were stamped by the post office with (zip [redacted] $000.40 Aug 23 2013). The lady then tried to tell me that my post office was the problem. At this point I could not believe I was talking with an actual tax administrator. So I went over the bills saying I would send a check in for their desired amount and would file my return online. She then told me if I file my return online since it is late there would be penalty fines attached to it. I then asked if there was a manager I could speak with because their had to be some kind of confusion between me and the lady. She then told me there was no manager on staff at that time so there was nothing she could do for me. Even though just a few minutes prior the young lady I was talking with before her tried to transfer me to a manager. Her ignorance and lack of customer service was extremely poor for somebody who has been hired to handle such delicate information for the commonwealth of pennsylvania. I ended the conversation telling her I was going to report the conversation to the Revdex.com and she laughed and said, "fine." I then tried to call my local office in [redacted], PA at (###-###-####) several times after the this conversation and the line is continuously busy with nobody to speak with.Desired Settlement: I would like the amount of 12.50 refunded back to me with a apology.

More importantly I would like to see the associated at berkheimer tax administrator go through sensitivity training and proper phone etiquette when handling customer service problems. Especially when subcontracting for the state of Pennsylvania

Review: I contacted (via email) Berkheimer on 2/27 because my 2/28 paycheck was being garnished and I had never received notice. They responded on 2/28 and told me that it was an error on their part, that it was a wrongful garnishment and I didn't actually owe any money. My paycheck was garnished $111.59. After further contact, they told me that they would reimburse the money, but not until the end of March, and then it would take an additional 10-14 days to receive the check. They told me that they sent a cancellation notice to my employer. It is not 3/7 and I can see (via my online paystub) that my 3/15 paycheck is garnished again, this time for $29.53. I've contacted them repeatedly re: the fact that it was THEIR error and my paycheck was wrongfully garnished, and now I'm forced to wait approximately 45 days for the reimbursement. They refuse to refund it any sooner. I have email documentation to back up everything I've stated.Desired Settlement: I understand that they have a refund policy, but in this instance it was an error on THEIR part. They took money that I did not owe, and now I have to wait 45 days for it. It should have been refunded immediately. They should be held accountable for the fact that they should have verified the information before they (incorrectly) garnished my wages.

Review: This is a tax service that operates by charging a fee to file taxes. They mailed me "Important Tax Information," Which I had to read a few times to discover it was spam. The issue is that this mailing never explicitly states that this is a service that charges a fee for filing your taxes. All of the literature looks like it could have come from the government and DEMANDS my tax info instead of requesting it. As I'm sure you are aware, these forms are requesting my social security number and all sorts of personal information required to submit a tax return. How am I or, my main concern, others expected to know that this is even a legitimate company when I/we are contacted in such a manner. After reading the whole document it does state that you have to send them a check with different charges base on what returns you have to file for. Still this is just plain wrong, they have purposefully made the documents official looking, and confusing.

Also it is a little concerning a company, such as this one, has my name and address. But those are just the times we live in.Desired Settlement: The company should notify all who filled out this tax return that they are a service that charges a fee before processing their tax return (and charging for it).
