Do not do business with BMO Harris Bank. They cannot be trusted.
For several years I have had a commercial line of credit from BMO Harris Bank. It was sold to me as a great way to remodel and furnish a small commercial space I was purchasing with a commercial mortgage from Harris Bank. I have made every payment on the line of credit and the commercial mortgage on time for several years. I considered myself a model small business customer.
Since then, I’ve had friendly and professional annual reviews with a myriad of different Relationship Managers who never raised any concerns about my financials or the status of the line. In fact, I had just completed a review and commercial mortgage renewal in February 2015.
Just 4 months later, in June 2015, I was contacted by my new and 6th Relationship Manager. There was an abrupt change of tone and I found him to be extremely rude. He hinted in our very first conversation that they could term out my loan. I was so put off by his lack of customer service skills and harassment that I asked to speak to his manager. He replied "I regret you feel harassed and in the mean time recommend you retain counsel as soon as possible".
I reached out to his manager about my strange experience. We had a long phone conversation about the poor customer service I had received and why he was requesting my financials so soon after an early 2015 review. I explained that I wanted to keep everything as is and planned to sell the space and pay down the line by early 2017. I even told him I could afford to make larger payments in the mean time if it would ease the situation. I was never told that there was a time limit on the equity line. No other relationship manager mentioned it to me prior to 2015. He insisted I send my financials and that perhaps they could offer me even better terms. He promised to give me options.
At my request, he reassigned me to my 7th Relationship Manager, who was very polite and professional. But after reviewing the financials I provided to him, he called in late November to let me know they would be terming it out…taking my $200 per month payment to $700+ per month. He told me it was not because of my financials. It was because my business had changed from a sole proprietorship to an S corp. But this happened many years ago, not long after taking out the line. Previous relationship managers were aware and never raised this issue. It seemed they had found their excuse to churn the loan, make more money and triple my payment.
They actually suggested I check with [redacted]e to see if I could get a new line with them. I told them that I would start working on that but also exploring my legal rights.
I feel very mistreated by BMO Harris and cannot believe this blatant greed. Why would BMO Harris betray a good customer like me? Why would thy cut ties and send me to a competitor? Because they don’t like the deal they sold me several years ago? It’s not enough interest now? They need to make their sales numbers?
My perception of BMO Harris has forever changed. I am planning to tell everyone I know about this negative experience including my social media following. I also plan to file a complaint with the Federal Reserve and Revdex.com and seek legal representation.

We took out an auto loan in January 2013. We have made all of the payments on time. We retired in April 2016, sold our home and decided to be debt free, so I called and got a pay off amount and was told the amount be good until May 5, 2016. I mailed a cashiers check for the amount I was told and they received the payment. Three weeks later we received a letter that we were behind in our payments! I called, they stated that I did send them the proper amount, that we were short by $434.00! Come to find out they applied the amount to the principal! I have called them 11 times trying to get this resolved, they have only called me twice! I keep getting promises that they need listen to the tape for the day that I called for a pay off. How long does that take??? I will never use this company again!

Rude. Horrible customer service.

Complaint: 11104030
I am rejecting this response because:
BMO is not addressing the issue.  During the time this was taking place, my wife and I had a lot going on.  My wife's grandparents were in and out of the hospital and my mom was just diagnosed with cancer and began chemo treatments.  Our time was focused on our family.  I think BMO should be more sympathetic to their customers and try to understand the facts and circumstances of why the complaint was filed so late.  Instead they are only sticking to the company line of x number of days.  It is truly disappointing.
Like I stated previously, ** Bank worked tirelessly with me when fraudulent transactions were made.  Even though it didn't fit their x number of days policy, they went above and beyond to replace the missing money and BMO should do the same.
I have gone over all of the transactions and have done my due diligence to figure out the fraud.  I think BMO should reimburse our HSA $2,000 was fraudulent transactions.
Sincerely,
Tim [redacted]

I am filing a complaint against BMO Harris in regards to harassing phone calls from their collections department. I have spoke with collections on numerous occasions regarding making payment arrangements etc and my request the collections department to cease and decease on calling has been ignored. I do not recommend getting a mortgage or any loan through BMO Harris they are incompetent you can speak with one representative and they will call back as if the previous CSR has not remarked your account to a previous conversation that has taken place.

Bmo harris wrote me a check for a matured CD. When I went back to cash the check I was told I had to take it to some other bank since I was no longer a customer. They wrote the check but refused to cash it. They even suggested I go to currency exchange to cash it. I continue to be disappointed with BMO Harris and their impersonal policys. I will never bank with them nor refer them to anyone.
