CARFAX received a copy of the corrected police report on 7/23/at 10:AM, and by 10:AM the same day notified the customer via email that the CARFAX Report had been updated

The CARFAX Report was reviewed and there are no odometer discrepancies listedTo look into this further, the VIN has to be submitted into researchTo submit the VIN into research, the owner of the vehicle has to complete the online consumer data correction form authorizing CARFAX to research the vehicle
Here is the direct link to the online consumer data correction form: http://support.carfax.com/c_datarequest

I'm sorry, but without documentation to backup the complainant's claims, we must continue to report what we received from the data source

On September 4, 2015, CARFAX emailed the customer the following:CARFAX receives information from tens of thousands of sources and loads that information directly into CARFAX's databaseThe CARFAX Vehicle History Report searches that database for vehicle history records available to be displayed
Since not all sources report information to us, not all information, including problems, is can be reported when a CARFAX Report is runIn this case, those service facilities had not yet agreed to report their records to us when you ran the CARFAX Report before buying the vehicleThose records were not reported to us until and 2015. Because CARFAX is aware that not all sources report to us, we state on every CARFAX Report that not all information, including problems, is reported to us; that we can only report what is reported to us by our sources at the moment a CARFAX Report is run; and therefore that the CARFAX Report is one of many available tools, including a pre-purchase vehicle inspection and test drive. CARFAX does receive all DMV-issued branded titlesBranded titles may include the Not Actual Mileage title brand, and we guarantee that this vehicle has never been issued a Not Actual Mileage title brand by a DMVHowever, this case does not involved a DMV-issued branded title, and therefore your situation is not eligible for the CARFAX Buyback Guarantee. With billions of vehicle history records reported from over 92,sources, a CARFAX Report is a great resource in the used car buying process - but as every CARFAX Report states, not everything is reported to us at that moment

The plan purchased by the customer states on the order page that it is Unlimited by U.SLicense Plate for daysCARFAX does not advertise or offer an unlimited by VIN plan Our records show that this matter was resolved directly with the customer on June 6, 2016, via email

I am rejecting this response because:Contacted *** *** (*** *** **, Hartford, CT 06120) which inherited all the service records from *** *** *** (Hartford, CT ###-###-####) who originally sold and serviced the car and spoke with service managerHe indicated that the car had the following service dates and indicated mileage [which Carfax did not include]:June 2005/18,884;2009/29K (And that at the last service, the customer was given a loaner car under warranty.).That's 18,miles documented after years (6k/yr), and; 29K after 7years (4.25k/yr).But according to Carfax and the erroneously reported services at Manhattan's Bethesda Auto we are supposed to believe that two short years later, the car had been driven an additional 80,miles (40K/yr) and by another 50K miles (25k/yr).The odometer now indicates 40,and the car shows like new.Have had a professional mechanic (*** *** ***,
*** *** Avenue,
Piermont,
NY
Phone: ###-###-####) go over this car and report that its condition corresponds with 40k
Clearly, mistakes were made. Please correct this report as soon as possible.Sincerely,

Mr***,The source of the record has not provided us with a correction request, and therefore the odometer reading remains on the CARFAX Report at this time.Best regards,Vince L

CARFAX emailed the customer on September 16, 2015, indicating that our research concluded and we removed the incorrect records

Date: Sun, Feb 25, at 5:PMSubject: FW: You have a new message from the Revdex.com of Metro
Washington DC & Eastern Pennsylvania complaint #***.To: "***@myRevdex.com.org" *** ***,As the complainant states, the vehicle was listed on the police report, and therefore CARFAX accurately reported the information from the police report (and apparently the insurance company). If the vehicle was listed in error, it was clearly the error of the police department, not CARFAX. We did verify the accident with the source, contrary to the complainant's claim that no action was taken, which is also confirmed by the fact that the complaint also confirmed that his vehicle was listed on the police report.Best regards,Vince L

I am rejecting this response because: Carfax has failed to reveal the SOURCE and SPECIFIC DAMAGE to my car as I have requested.Carfax continues to talk in circles regarding this claimAttached are statements made by Carfax stating the insurance company would not release information to them, however they maintain thier information is reported by the SOURCE.Carfax is asking me to provide information to them for information on the appraisalWhy is this? They claim to have the information from the SOURCE!I refer to Carfax emails dated 8-21-2015, 9:18am and 8-21-2015, 12:32pm where they contradict their information. I will through the Freedom of Information Act request ALL information regarding this matter that Carfax claims to haveI also plan to write to my Congressman and ask the Congresmans to investigate the arbitrary way in which they conduct their very questionable business. The Revdex.com needs to take a more proactive role in maters such as this that affect the general public, not simply act as a messaging forwarding service

Date: Thu, Sep 14, at 12:PMSubject: RE: You have a new message from the Revdex.com of Metro Washington DC & Eastern Pennsylvania complaint #***.To: "***@myRevdex.com.org" *** ***, We resolved this directly with the customer via email on 8/21/by confirming
the customer was not charged and did receive the CARFAX Report. Best regards, Vince L

Date: Mon, Dec 18, at 4:PMSubject: RE: You have a new message from the Revdex.com of Metro Washington DC & Eastern Pennsylvania complaint #***.To: "***@myRevdex.com.org" *** ***, I apologize for the delayed response.Structural damage was reported to CARFAX and
verified by the data source, and therefore must remain on the CARFAX Report. The customer provided the repair order showing repairs to the center pillar and the rocker panel. These are both repairs to structural components. The document also codes these are structural components with the of 07. Per industry standards, repairs to structural components including pillars and rocker panels, are considered structural damage. The repair order does not refute the source’s reporting and verification of structural damage, and in fact confirms it. Therefore, the structural damage is correctly displaying on the CARFAX Report and cannot be removed.Best regards,Vince L

The South Dakota had issued a "Damage Disclosure" title on this vehicle around the time the vehicle was totaled by the insurance company The damage disclosure displayed on the CARFAX Report Due to age, South Dakota stopped reporting the damage disclosure which is how the vehicle was
able to receive a clean title, but CARFAX continued to report the prior damage disclosure In 2013, a new source began reporting total loss information to CARFAX, which is why the total loss was not reported to CARFAX in Every CARFAX Report states that it can only report the information reported to CARFAX at that time, that other information including problems may not yet have been reported, and therefore the CARFAX Report should be used as a tool along with a pre-purchase inspection and test drive to assess the condition and value of the vehicle CARFAX did report the damage disclosure title, recommend a pre-purchase vehicle inspection, and gave notice that other information, including problems, has not yet been reported CARFAX was not unable to report the total loss prior to because it had not yet been reported to CARFAX Because CARFAX did not miss a branded title, and because it adequately disclosed its limitations, it cannot offer any compensation
