Or use this direct link to the online consumer data correction form,
http://support.carfax.com/c_datarequest
After the form is filled out, the customer will receive personalized service from a member of our Product Support team within the next few business days who will detail the next step in the process - including any information that may be needed for updating the CARFAX ReportThen, if the record is found to be in error then it will be corrected as soon as possible

CARFAX receives electronically-submitted data records from our data sources, and loads these records directly into its Vehicle History Report database as they are received. Because CARFAX does not receive any paper documents or perform any data entry, an error made by a data source may
occasionally display on a CARFAX Vehicle History Report. If there is an error on the customers CARFAX Report, we have a process to fix it. The customer can fill out the online consumer data correction form here: http://support.carfax.com/c_datarequestAfter the form is filled out, the customer will receive personalized service from a member of our Product Support team within the next few business days who will detail the next step in the process - including any information that may be needed for updating the CARFAX Report. Then, if the record is found to be in error then it will be corrected as soon as possible

The complainant response asks two questions, first related to the timing of the display of the damage record, and second related to the source of the information. To address the first question:Not all sources of vehicle history information report to CARFAX CARFAX must seek out sources of vehicle history information and encourage those sources to agree to work with us Once a source agrees to report records to CARFAX, sources typically provide an archive of older records, and not just the most recent records That is what happened in this case The CARFAX Report states that this is always a possibility and never guarantees any vehicle to be free from damage or other problems When no damage records have been reported to CARFAX, the CARFAX Report states:* No accidents / Damage Report to CARFAX* This CARFAX Vehicle History Report is based only on information supplied to CARFAX and available as of [the moment the CARFAX Report is run]Other information about this [vehicle], including problems, may not have been reported to CARFAXUse this report as one important tool, along with a vehicle inspection and test drive, to make a better decision about buying your next used car.* Not all accidents / issues are reported to CARFAXThe CARFAX Report outlines the CARFAX Buyback Guarantee, stating that only DMV-issued title problems, including Salvage, Junk and Rebuilt, are covered by the CARFAX Buyback Guarantee No other information is covered. To address the second question:CARFAX cannot release details of the source information because it is confidential I am sorry there is not a different way to say this; we simply cannot release any details about the damage record. In conclusion, if the complainant has access to information that clarifies the extent of the damage, CARFAX is more than happy to review this information and make any adjustments possible to the damage record on the CARFAX Report To do this, we require a Data Research Request form using the following link, along with a copy of any documents that can be provided https://support.carfax.com/c_datarequest

I am rejecting this response because:
I ask for a refund no matter what respondent states in their rambling unclear response. The only thing that is clear is the "No Risk!-Guarantee" And "100% Satisfaction"The Carfax website is deceptive by design and calculated to confuse consumers.Only Reports have been run and no more will be run.I expect Carfax to honor their Guarantee and issue a refund immediately.I will seek other help in getting Carfax to comply if they feel the need to dishonor my timely request

Date: Wed, Feb 10, at 8:PMSubject: RE: You have a new message from the Revdex.com of Metro Washington DC & Eastern Pennsylvania complaint #***.To: "***@myRevdex.com.org" *** ***, The customer states several times that the CARFAX website clearly shows that the
unlimited plan is unlimited using the U.Slicense plate, and I am not sure how he draws the conclusion that this somehow means that it is unlimited by VIN However, and regardless, the customer was issued a full refund on 1/20/and was notified of this the same day via email. Respectfully,

On 7/25/2017, CARFAX emailed the customer the following response:Good Morning ***, Thank you for contacting CARFAX. I'm sorry for the long wait - we’ve been unexpectedly busier than normalYour patience is appreciated! I apologize for any inconvenience you have experienced while
using our serviceI have refunded your account for the $difference and you should see this in your statements within 3-business days. Please let me know if I could be of any further serviceI hope you have a wonderful day!

CARFAX does not receive paper copies of documents, only electronically-submitted database files An accident was reported to CARFAX for the customer's vehicle by a police department In order to verify the accuracy of the police department's record, we have ordered a paper copy of the
police report Once it arrives, a CARFAX Resolution Manager will contact the customer and discuss the results

The customer purchased the Unlimited CARFAX ReportsThe order page lists the plan as "Unlimited CARFAX Reports / only $/ Unlimited Reports by U.SLicense Plate / Valid for days" and also states this on the order page under the Customer Agreement, to which the customer read and accepted
before placing their order As a gesture of goodwill, the customer was given an additional fifteen CARFAX Reports to run by VIN

The apron and rail are structural components, therefore, these repairs were structural

The service facility was having a technical issue pulling up the vehicle in their records However, they were able to access the records using the repair order numbers, which we provided to the customer

It appears that the customer ceased receiving our emails and I would suggest she check her spam/junk folder We sent the below emails on 9/28/at 5:PM, and 10/07/at 4:PM Additionally, we also have a copy of the police report issued by the police department, so we know the
police department is able to locate the accident and the customer will have to work with the police department to obtain a copy ---09/28/2015---Hi Janet, I just spoke with a representative for the *** *** and confirmed the accident in question is on fileThe representative was able to locate the police report with case number *** and DPS case number 1500769424. According to the Police Accident Report # ***, there was an impact with the vehicle however no damage was observed by the officer The CARFAX Report states that there was an accident, but the vehicle was not damaged Unless the police report is amended to state there was no accident, CARFAX must continue reporting the Police Accident Report as it was reported by the police department

I am rejecting this response because:How many times will we have to rehash this? Everyone agrees that my car was not involved in the accident - even Carfax at this point. They have been supplied with a corrected police report (if they made the effort to request it)The issue is that they refused to look into the error at the time I brought it to their attention, and it cost me roughly 5,dollars in value on my car
Regards,
*** ***

The police officer indicated that the damage to the vehicle was extensive. The repair order does show a lot of work needed to be done for the car, and not all cosmetic. The repair order does not show that the police report is incorrect. If the police report is incorrect, it must be
corrected by the police department before the CARFAX Report can be updated

I am rejecting this response because:This is obviously a boilerplate response. The fact remains, Carmax represented to me that it was a "clean" undamaged car, which turns out to be incorrect. Who is in a better position to rectify this error? A large corporation who sells millions of cars, or the consumer?I am not asserting fraud, breach of contract, or anything like thatI am suggesting that as a major national car seller with a valuable reputation to protect, you ought to do something to compensate your customer in this situation. Do something - anything - to help make this right, as opposed to telling the customer "it's your problem, sorry". Meet me in the middle in some way
