[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the responseIf no reason is received your complaint will be closed Administratively Resolved] Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because:Once again the business is misrepresenting(1) this is my first complaint to the Revdex.com and the advisement of my credit card company; (2) At the direction of Cross State I submitted a claim for the missing piece of furniture and damaged counter top with photos (of which the company was notified immediately, along with the other issues); (3) there was a substantial time lag between when the furniture was picked up and when it was delivered A time lag for which I was charged Let me reiterate that I have been seeking remedy regarding this matter for a year This company used intimidation and misleading advertising to extort funds Regards, [redacted]

9/8/14To Whom it May Concern:CrossState Moving and Storage is in receipt of your letters dated 8/18/in regards to a consumer claim that was made by the above-identified client, [redacted] , regarding a move that was carried out by cross State moving. The movers have to be friendly and courteous to our clientsMaybe the customer misinterpreted his intentions and we apologize for that none the lessWe charge by the hour and as a professional moving company, have to make sure that items are secured before going on to the truckWe have a minimum which we charge, after that minimum is passed, additional hours are charged at the agreed regular rate that we provided the customerIt is not our company's issue to pay for charges the building charges the person who is moving outWe also do not guarantee, that the move will take a certain amount as each move is different and we cannot possible know how long a move will takeThis is why a minimum is charged, and additional hours are charged as neededWe will not refund anything at this time, as the charges on the contract are what the foreman and the crew spent at the location to complete the move.Sincerely,Cross State Moving

8/12/14Dear [redacted] :This letter is in response to the complaint of David CJackson which was submitted on 8/12/ID # [redacted] The move with [redacted] was scheduled with our company for an afternoon moveUnfortunately, on the day of the move, the crew which was supposed to come to his location got stuck with another job, which the client has misinformed us in regards to the size and scope of the job which took much longer than expectedThis was told to the customer as soon as we found out and recommended him to find another mover, as we tried our best to come up to a solution but had no other trucks or crews available to assist with his moveCross State Moving does reserve the right to cancel any move (as on the estimate, which [redacted] received)We do not rereimburse for lost time at work and searching for a new companyThe cost of the move, would have been the same with cross state moving as we charge by the hour and according to the price [redacted] paid was not a small job eitherWe do apologize for any inconvenience; however we cannot offer [redacted] any solution, even nowWe will offer [redacted] a $Credit to use with us towards his next move.Cross State Moving, LLCThank You, Cross State Moving Management

5/8/15Dear [redacted] :This letter is in response to the complaint of [redacted] [redacted] hired a professional moving company to move his items locallyHe came to a marketing coupon that we had on [redacted] that specifies the cost and the number of hours, number of crew members, allotted for this couponUpon reservation, and on the estimate, we stress that we work on an hourly rate and charge according to the final number of hours the job will takeThe minimum hours of this particular coupon was for a two men crew hours of moving time, a travel time fee/truck fuel fee of $which is $and any additional hours are charged at $139/hour for a two men crewPacking supplies are not included in the quote and are an additional cost should there be any need to pack or wrap any fragile or delicate furnitureThe quote and all of our charges are spelled out on his order of service which he in fact received via email, by phone and signed on the day of the move as wellAs far as the tardiness of the crew, we have an estimated arrival time for our crews to arrive at the customer's location, he did have a 2-4pm arrival time but this is an estimated arrival time and is not guaranteedSince he was an afternoon move, the company cannot be responsible for any late arrival because of traffic and previous moves could take longer to completeHowever, the office did inform him that the crew is behind his original estimated time of arrivalObviously, the fact that he bought a new house has no bearing on the price he paid, and is an exaggeration of the complaint for reasons we are not sure to be honest...In regards to his claim that he was helping the crew unload and unwrap blankets, he did that to speed up the move, which he is paying for labor on an hourly rate, no one asked for him to do it, but it was on his own behalf so he can save time and money on his move. There is no refund, as all of the charges were correct on [redacted] 's billRegardsThank You,Cross State Moving Management

7/17/ Dear [redacted] ***:This letter is in response to the complaint of [redacted] which was submitted on 7/17/ID # [redacted] This was a local move which we charge by the hourThe minimum charge for this move is 4hours of labor and a travel time fee of one hour, each additional hours are charged at the hourly rate of $139/hrThe movers are hard workers and are professional movers and they do have to be careful with the items moved, so no damages occur (so she will not have something else to complain about...), the customer knew that this is for hours and that additional hours are charged at the regular hourly rateTapes are used to secure blankets which are used to secure the wooden items that the customer is moving, again, so no damage occurs to the itemsShe did sign the material price list before and knew that we charge additionally for any materials used during the moveThe policy of the company is to receive payment before unloading the truck and her refusal to pay for the service, as to our policy is to take it to the warehouse until payment is received (this is a business, and just because you don’t feel like paying for something doesn’t give you the right not to pay for services performedWe will not offer this customer any credit, as she was charged correctly by the crew.Thank You, Cross State Moving Management

I am in the Navy and had extenuating circumstances that forced me to use an outside moving company to move to W [redacted] State from M [redacted] After I spoke with the representative and he asked me what I was shipping, he quoted me at $2,before taxAfter the movers came and packed my belongings, the representative called me back and told me my shipment was "heavier than we expected and estimated." After this he sends me an updated invoice informing me that I now owe an additional $2,Keep in mind that they only packed half of my belongings and I packed the other halfThe movers took my shipment from my house on the 12th of MarchAfter my arrival to W [redacted] , I had to call the Cross State Moving representative several times to find out why my shipment had not arrived yetHe proceeds to tell me there is "A day window that they have to get there and will call you hours before their arrival." My shipment was supposed to arrive between the 20th of March and the 10th of AprilAfter the 9th of April came around, I, once again, called the representative who now tells me I have to pay another $on top of everything else so the truck can take the ferry onto the islandNot only was this unnecessary, but the ferry only costs $one-way for a moving truckI was told if I didn't pay the additional $500.00, they would not give me my belongingsMy shipment arrived on the 12th of April and not only did I not receive a 24-hour notice of my shipment, they showed up four hours after they told me they would be thereIn retrospect, Cross State Moving turned out to be rude, disrespectful, a company of crooks, and completely disregarded customer service and satisfactionIf you need to move AT ALL, DO NOT USE CROSS STATE MOVING

As with previous complaints This company doubles the price AFTER they have your stuff in a truck and refuses to unload the truck UNTIL after you pay them Under NO circumstances should you use this company

11/24/2014*** *** hired our company to provide moving services for 11/09/He hired cross state moving to move a one bedroom apartmentHe inquired about a coupon special that we have with groupon which gave him a two men crew and two hours of move time, the coupon does not include a
one hour travel time fee of $and does not include any packing suppliesWe gave them the coupon minimum rates for a crew to come out to the location which is based on a person move at the hourly rate of $140/hr with a hour minimum labortime and a one time travel time fee of hour at $139, any additional hours beyond the minimum are charged at the hourly rate of $139/hrThis is shown Clearly on the order of service, which was provided to him over the phone when making the reservation and prior to that by email when he has made the reservation, and finally on the date of the move where he executed this and signed it as wellThe Coupon was purchased through groupon (coupon #***) as you will see further the deduction of hours or $for that coupon valueUpon arrival at the home the crew started working and stared at 8:30PM and finished at 12:00AM for a total labor hours of plus the $travel time feeThe movers used packing supplies that totaled $and was not included in this moveThe total came to $697.5, after the $discount of the voucher/coupon, he was left to pay $which the customer elected to pay by CC which we typically charge a processing fee of 3% or $to a grand total of $He paid these with a Credit CardWe have all the documentation attached and explanation ofHis scheduled move was for the afternoon, which is an estimated arrivalThe dispatch office and the driver have been in touch with him throughout the time to inform them of the delayWe do not guarantee arrival time for our afternoon moves, because at times morning moves do take longer than requested and thus taking longerThe movers did show up and completed his move in a timely manner as requestedNo credit will be issued to this customer.Cross state management

I am rejecting this response because:-
I have hired multiple professional moving
companies in the past for local and long-distance moves.-
With
previous professional movers, disassembly was not required for my furniture or
dining room table; only the bed was disassembledPrevious movers were also able
to move the furniture in and out of elevators, doors, and stairs with no issue
Cross State, did not try to access the elevators or doors prior to disassembly
at the old or new building.-
Almost every article of furniture was wrapped with
an extensive amount of padding and tapeWith my previous professional movers, none
used so many blankets on as many furniture pieces with such an excessive amount
of tape-
My family had prepared and was ready to pay the
Cross State movers in cashWe would not have had to use the credit card if the
move had been completed in a reasonable amount of timeWe even budgeted an
additional hours of contingency time to avoid the additional 3% credit card charge.-
We do not mind small talk with the movers, as we
have done this with other professional movers in English and SpanishWe even
provide Gatorade between move sites as a courtesyOur issue was we felt like
we were being mocked, insulted, or joked about for our finances or how much our
move would cost.-
I reiterate, my wife received a quote of $165/hr
via phoneWhen I called back to confirm the next week, I received a quote for
$185/hrI informed the manager of the discrepancy and he reduced the rate to
$175/hrThat does not seem to reflect availability or supply/demand, but
rather preference since the reservation was booked nearly months in advanceOn
the move date, I noticed that every hour after the first three hours (which
were included with the special), went back to the standard rate of $This rate
switch was not made clear prior to the move.-
Cross State movers should state clearly and
specifically in their estimate/contract that time will be taken to fold
blankets during the move dayAt no time prior to the move, not on the website or
when the movers arrive, did they inform us of this aspect of their workWe were
never informed that folding blankets would be charged as part of our move time
-
We did not run out time on our move. We chose not to spend any further time for
the move since we were already significantly over the time we allotted for
payment, and did not want to expend any further resources to have the movers
reassemble or situate our belongs in the new locationTherefore, my family removed
tape, unwrapped the furniture padding, and reassembled and situated the
furniture to prevent any further time delays
Just to restate some items that were not address:
-
The movers pressed the elevator button up then down
at same time to slow pace, but the freight elevators at both buildings were
reserved.-
We repeatedly asked how long the move would take
and if Cross State movers could increase their pace because we reserved the loading
dock at the new building for hoursCross State caused us to miss our mo
window at our new building which was scheduled from 8am-12pmThey didn’t
arrive until 1pmWe were fortunate we did not have to vacate the loading dock
to make way for those who had originally reserved the dock from 12-4pm.-
My family and I felt very disappointed that the
owner/supervisor was not willing to work with us when we called to inform him
the move was taking exponentially longer than we expected.-
This was the first time we have ever had to pay
movers before the job was completed

I reject Cross State Moving LLC offer for several
reasons. First people do not need a moving
company except when they move. I do not
plan on moving anytime soon. And if I
was to move Cross State Moving LLC is
the last company I would trust to move me; therefore a credit from them is meaningless. Second, the right to cancel is giving the customer ample time to find another
company. Cross State Moving LLC was
scheduled to perform pick up services at pm.
We contacted them at pm to
confirm they were still coming and were told the mover s are finishing up the
job before us and will be there soon. At
pm we call again and were told the same thing. Not until pm did this company inform us
there was a problem. This was not a cancellation; it was a
business decision not to honor our agreement and not to honor the contract . Third,
Cross State Moving LLC has a history (complaints in three years) so any type
of credit with them just sets me up for
further issues.
When hiring a moving company one does not anticipate the
company will back out at the last minute.
If Cross State Moving could not honor their agreement they should has Informed
me with enough time to make other arrangements.
We contacted with them a week before the move and was told everything
was on track. If Cross State Moving had
kept its part of the agreement and we
did not pay; there are many legal measures the company could take against me. This could include garnishing my pay and
causing severe damage to my credit. What
action does the consumer have to hold Cross State Moving LLC’s feet to the fire
when they decide not to honor their contractual agreement? Their decision caused undue stress,
inconvenience and cost. They cannot ease
the stress they caused but they can honor the contract by paying the bill

I am rejecting this response because:I was not told any of this information until after my belongings had been packed. There was no way to get them back unless I paid their incorrect feeThe claim that the 'estimate' was the *** fee was false. My original quote included three men, not twoThe quote from the Cross State Company was 147.00$. The *** cost was 259.00$. Those two prices are not the same at all. Their explanation is unacceptable, even if the estimate was slightly wrongOn the Invoice estimate it even includes the *** :
