My name is listed on website under bankruptcy and I demand it be removed

DocketBird Response • Jul 02, 2020

Cases can be removed from DocketBird by using our free removal tool. It is available at https://www.docketbird.com/help

Docketbird is a business that allows attorneys, etc. to find court information easily with a Google search by name. They charge a $59.99 fee to have this removed, which is a terrible way for them to further humiliate the individual, especially filing for bankruptcy due to financial hardship and asking for money when the person is trying to rebuild financially. I am seeking to have Docketbird stop this public information immediately.

DocketBird Response • Jun 24, 2020

We would be happy to resolve this issue. The customer needs to email our customer support at [email protected], and should say in her email that this is a Revdex.com matter.

I paid to have my case removed from docketbird records with the guarantee that they would remove the information from internet search records. While my name no longer appears on the page it used to, the page where it used to appear is still the first search result when googling my full name. I contacted them and asked them to remove my full name from the cache/index/meta data so I am no longer associated with the case, they again agreed to remove the information causing their company to be associated with my name. Again, they did not deliver. It’s been months since I have paid for a service that they haven’t completed.

I tried emailing like instructed and they had no idea what I was talking about or how to resolve the complaint. They referred me to a link so I’m still being sent in circles. I haven’t been offered an actual solution.

DocketBird Response • Jul 02, 2020

We have reached out to the customer via email to try to resolve her complaint.

My name and bankruptcy is on their website. I know that bankruptcy is public record but I did not give them authorization to post my bankruptcy. They are also asking for money to have it removed or fill out paperwork and have a notary sign it and mail it in to them to have it removed. I'm not sure if what they are doing is even legal. I want my information removed from their website.

We have removed the case from DocketBird. Here is the old link: ***

We'd also like to explain why this case was on DocketBird. DocketBird is a service that enables lawyers, law schools, libraries, and members of the public to follow court cases and access court documents. All records on DocketBird are public records.

Of course, we understand that sometimes people do not want DocketBird to publish court records pertaining to them. So we do not charge a fee to remove cases; it is completely free.

We hope this solution is satisfactory!

We have removed the case from DocketBird, and also submitted an expedited request to Google to re-index the page. This should resolve the concerns.

This company, which is located in Washington, bought my personal information which I never agreed to and then wants me to jump thru hoops in order to have it removed. I am NOT doing all of these numerous steps to have my personal information removed which then on their end takes months to remove. Why should I? It was never their place or right to do so and invades my privacy!

Hi, I'd like to respond to these types of complaints, but I need someone from the Revdex.com to contact me about becoming an Accredited Member. I called you guys two weeks ago about this and was assured someone would call me back, but that has not happened yet. Thanks!

We have submitted an expedited request to Google, to remove this page. Please give Google a few days to process the request. It should be complete by Tuesday evening.

I went online (https://www.docketbird.com/cancel) and filled in the necessary information to cancel the subscription. The online form states no account is found, but I continue to be billed each month. I have contacted Docketbird to cancel my subscription via their instant message tool (on March 28th) and no one every responded. A copy is below. I'm not sure who operates this company as I can find no email or number to call them.

I was billed twice on March 13th ($25/month) for the Docket Bird service. I tried to cancel and the cancellation page says it can't find my subscription. When I select the billing page it shows I'm getting billed, but only one charge shows. I want to cancel ALL active subscriptions and be refunded for the overbilling in March. My email is: [email address removed].

Thank you,
Jake

DocketBird Response • Jun 09, 2020

We have cancelled the customer's subscription as he requested, and we have also refunded him for his March payment. He should give his bank a few days to post the refund. We hope this resolves the customer's concerns.

I paid to have my case removed from your site and I got a message saying that the site was unable to remove because someone else is paying to view my case. However you've already charged me the money to remove my personal information off your site. Please remove my personal information or return my money otherwise I will report you as scammers and I will take legal action.

DocketBird Response • Jun 04, 2020

The customer is incorrect. He was not charged anything. Rather, the charge was cancelled. Attached is a screenshot from our payment processor. Customer should call his bank to confirm.

Public bankruptcy records are searchable through *** and the DocketBird is extorting money to remove the *** result. It is public record but there are correct ways to request that information and only if it's relevant to you, it shouldn't appear on a search engine. The methods to remove the information are unacceptable. I am not going to (for free) provide this untrusted website my signature and ID, or (for $59.99) pay an extortion fee.

My information being provided on *** is detrimental to my safety, not just my ego if someone finds it.

I had to filed chapter 13 due to a divorce. Docketbird has my bankruptcy as publicly advertised as such. I'm aware that a bankruptcy is public information, but I shouldn't have to pay $59.99 to have my name removed from their website advertising to then entire world that I filed bankruptcy. You can actually enter my name on Google and the fourth "hit" advertises my bankruptcy through Docket Bird.

Because I interact with potential clients on a day-to-day basis for my job and it will absolutely effect my Reputation, I had no other choice but to pay the $59.99, which they advertised, would be immediately removed off of Google.

It has now been over a week, my names still appears on a search on Google on Docket Bird as an "Chapter 13 Bankruptcy." I have tried to contact them 4 times now with no response.

I would like DocketBird to remove my name from their database and refund me the $59.99. If it's not removed, next stop will be to my Lawyer to file a formal complaint and take the next steps.

DocketBird has published information about me on their website without my knowledge or permission. I am trying to get it removed from their website immediately. Following directions to 'remove', DocketBird tells me it will cost me $59.99 to remove me from their site. The other option is to request a paper form via US mail, notarize, 6-8 weeks to process, etc. It is coming up on a google search for my name and this is NOT OK! This is affecting my ability to find work. I am asking them to cease and desist...NOW.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:

They claim that they will remove personal information for free if we jump through their hoops by snail mail, notary, 'only partial removal guarantee with a wait time for processing of 6 – 8 weeks', etc. I began this process in March and am no closer to getting resolution. In fact it's worse now, the only thing that providing my email address to them did was put me on their spam mail list offering me 'discounts' in their extortion to remove my info from their site. Now, clicking the link to remove my info only results in circular messaging and/or an error/'not found' page (see attached).

I am requesting immediate erasure under the “Privacy Act” to have my personal and private information Permanently Redacted (OPT-OUT). Please remove any and all mention of my name from their website PERMANENTLY. I also request that the reference to my identity be hidden in internet search engines by adopting all technological measures, such as the use of robots.txt codes or noindex instructions, etc., so that the website of the newspaper archive In which the information appears, cannot be indexed by Internet search engines.

There are numerous complaints against this business for the same issue. Please SHUT THEM DOWN!

I urge anyone out there reading this to file a complaint with their state's Attorney General. Anyone in NY can do so here:

We would be happy to help you. Please just complete and mail in the attached form. It's free.

DocketBird is extorting me for money and more importantly time to have my information remove from their website. I understand bankruptcies are public but I did not consent to have it posted on their website. I feel and believe I am being blackmail, in violation of Privacy act, extorted, scammed etc. My information should be taken down without me having to send information of verification or pay so they can can make a profit. I cannot trust this is a legitimate website. If this was important to show the world to whoever google your name then it should come from the court system not a possible fraudulent website that unethically uses your information.

Your case has been removed from DocketBird. You can confirm here:

***

I hope this resolves your concerns.

In March and May 2019 I purchased individual case files from docketbird. I have since been charged $9.99 fee for a case update, that I did not sign up for. I've sent numerous requests to their team and leadership to cancel my service and refund the funds taken from my account, but have not received any feedback from the company; and I continue to be billed for the service. I want to be clear I did not sign up for the monitoring service, only bought individual case updates, and would like this monthly monitoring service cancelled immediately and I demand a full refund for amounts removed from my account!

I am rejecting this response because: this response does not answer the issue of being charged for a service that I did not request become a monthly deduction. I purchased one time documents, but was charged for months of a service, which is even more egregious as I requested to cease the service multiple times. This response assumes I am a person that does not want their content on Docketbird, which is incorrect. I want to get a full refund for erroneous charges to my debit card.

Sincerely

DocketBird Response • Oct 14, 2020

Hello,

We already issued two courtesy refunds for this account, despite the fact that you agreed to our subscription terms. We cannot issue further refunds, because you signed up for the subscription, and evidently also did not look at your credit card statement for many months.

I paid $3.99 to download one document and they charged me $3.99 and an additional $9.99 without my authorization. I have tried calling (no way to even speak to a human) and emailing with no response. Had to end up disputing the charge with my bank.

Had requested the removal of my name in two occasions using their free mail option without any luck: *** .

They are a scam! They took my money and never removed the case. This company should be ashamed of themselves for posting people’s cases and then charging them money to take it down. Beware and spread the word on Docket Bird. They are online criminals!!
