I received a letter with no reference to the business in the mail I am struggling with my student loan, so I wanted to see what options were out there Once calling the number on the letter, I was directed to the FSA ID website to retrieve my ID I did not have my ID prior to my phone call because the government loans worked with and under PIN's when I was in school I was sent an email from Docuprep to make this process easy I was then given a link from a separate email, directed by the representative, to upload my loan data in a text file and another link to enter my FSA ID into I was told that this was necessary to work with the Department of Education and look at options to save me money When I told the representative that I was uncomfortable with giving my information away (while reading the legalese that was attached to the ID entry website) the representative became very agitated and defensive saying "Did I ask you to give me your ID information?" I told him that I did not, but explained to him that he did give me a website titled "Student Assistance Portal " that asks me for this information I read to him the caution on the legalese regarding giving away your private information and that the government does not encourage it He said that was like checking a box when you purchase something online and acted all together uninformed of what the legalese even said At this point, the pressure increased and I was told that they were only trying to help me, and if I wanted to stop now that he had other calls to take I kindly told him that I had his information in an email if I decided to move forward and obliged on his request to take other phone calls I was promptly hung up on It goes without saying that it was a poor experience, it had a shady feel to it, and I will never contact another loan assistance company again

Like the other negative reviewers, I also rec'd a FINAL NOTICE in the mail, which prompted me to check it out. The part with the official government web address is what got me, so I thought it might be official. I created the FSA ID and called the number on the letter. I should have known better, as there wasn't an official business name on the letter. Anyway, I called and spoke with Samuel Valesquez and he walked me through the process of sharing my loan info with them online, which seemed pretty strange since the letter made it seem like they are affiliated with the US government, and if so, then they should have ALREADY had access to my loan amount, etc. But I didn't listen to my gut and shared it anyway. The red flags started popping up big time when he asked for my driver's license number, two references, employeretc. I started thinking this sounds like a credit application. He wanted all of that information without even telling me how this process would benefit me! When he started talking about an underwriter, my gut kicked in big time. Something felt all the way off. Underwriting is what they do when you're buying a car and I just knew the pitch for money was coming. I never got to that point, because he asked for my social security number and that's where I drew the line. Even when I call in to gov lines, they only ask for the last 4. I told him I didn't feel comfortable giving that info out. He said that any time you call in to a 'government' line they ask for that info, which I know to be untrue. I persisted in resisting sharing that info. He said there's no need for us to continue and to call back when I'm ready to give my social. Needless to say, I won't be calling back. I just wanted to add my two cents to the other reviewers advice. Follow your gut, and if it seems fishy, run like hell.

I was trying to find a way to get rid of my student loans or at the very least make things more manageable. I was told by a friend of mine to call document preparation center to assist me getting into one of these government programs that allows for forgiveness. My "adviser" [redacted]I believe that was his name) was extremely nice and very patient with me. He walked me through all the programs that I qualified for and we ended up enrolling into the Income Based Repayment program that is going to allow for forgiveness at the end of the program. My balance is over $60,000 and my lender wanted over $745 from me so to get into this program and have a payment that is now $12 is absolutely amazing. I can not thank [redacted] or Document Preparation Center enough for helping me through the whole thing. THANK YOUTHANK YOUTHANK YOUTHANK YOUTHANK YOUTHANK YOU

Docuprep Center is charging a fee for something you can do free by going to www.studentaid.ed.gov.
They want you to submit agreement forms to them while you're on the phone by using electronic signature with an opportunity to read what you're signing after the fact. They present themselves as a solution to help you, but you can do exactly what they're offering without them or their fees.
While I can't say it's a scam, it's pretty darn close.

We at Docuprep Center always strive to help our clients to achieve financial relief towards paying-off  their student loans. Our sincerest apologies for the complications that happened during the consolidation process.  A refund will be issued as per our satisfaction guarantee policy.

Clients account officer.

I got a notice in the mail about help with consolidating my student loans and whatnot. It had a suspicious "FINAL NOTICE" at the top, which seemed weird since I have never received a previous notice and didn't owe money to them… but I didn't listen to my gut. I called and started the application. I found it odd the way they handled the call. I got transferred from one specialist to the next going through the application process, gave away too much information, and then when I got to the final step; something didn't feel right. I questioned it, and cancelled my application. I proceeded to receive at least 4 calls in a row from the company. I finally answered the last one, asked the guy questions like why they were wanting to charge me $900 (legitimately) to fill out a form that I could do myself and whatnot. He was very smooth, I'll admit, and was pushy. I got suckered in to finishing the application. They send an email for you to physically sign documents to send back to them. I looked up their company in more detail, and found out that similar scams were in existence. I don't know why I didn't listen to my gut the first time. I called their helpline, and immediately cancelled everything. Requested a cancellation notice for proof, and asked to be not called ever again. Of course, I received another call from them an hour later. I didn't answer it, but I did answer the second one 3 hours later. The guy who was walking me through the application was on the line, and seemed pissed (beyond his customer-service voice and rhetoric). He was wondering why I cancelled a second time even though I actually processed the application the last time around. I told him it didn't feel right, I was sorry for wasting their time, and to never call me again. Unfortunately, I've given them a lot of personal information. Hopefully, this is a good teaching lesson for other people and none of this comes back to haunt me.
