My mother was a resident of Brookdale Lake Mary Florida for over years & we spent well over $100,000, the care was sub par & moved her out due to the fact we had run out of money & Brookdale had a year plus waiting list for medicaid recipients, at the end of her time with Brookdale we received a bill for $that turned into after months $& since then my mother has passed & now Brookdale has turned myself into collections & I'm not even the financial POA & has ruined my credit rating, this seems to me excessive & greedy of there behalf & not what my mother would have wanted to happen to one of her children, I would stay away from this facility

Taking too much time to be refunded for a 'deposit' check given to facility for expected use of a memory care roomDeposit check was given to facility on the 27th of January, Formal notice that expected room was no longer desired and request for disposition of deposit monies was given to facility on February 12, Bank records reveal that deposit check was debited on Feb17, To date, no definitive time frame has been received as to the disposition of the return of the deposit monies; $Notice has been received that my request, 'has been processed,' and that, 'This request will be handled through our corporate office.' As of Feb25, no monies have been received as well as any further communications of the disposition of the monies from the service provider

Brookdale Vancouver Washington took money from deceased father's bank account and acknowledge they owe us a refund but won't return the money
My Father lived at the Brookdale facility in Vancouver Washington for years My Dad went into hospice with a terminal pulminary embolism on 2/21/ We told Brookdale that he would not be coming back to his apartment We asked Brookdale not to bill for the following month and they said (Joann...the manager) that they wouldn't My Dad passed away on 2/27/ Brookdale withdrew $from my Dad's bank account on 3/1/ Since I am the executor of my Dad's estate I have requested a refund for the wrongful withdraw Brookdale sent me a letter acknowledging the they owe my Father's estate $after the previous months service fees and days rent after the 1st of the month But no check We have made several calls to the facility book-keeper (Debbie) and have just received the run-around (she was in training, couldn't log on her

They charged us twice for one month stay of $

On Fri, Jan5, 2018, Emergency room called me to come get my dad A steel door at Brookdale in Durham, NC had slammed shut during a fire drill and knocked him down After being bandaged and stitched, ER called Brookdale to come & retrieve him, but was put on hold and then hung up on When ER called back, Brookdale would not answer the phone So hospital called me
Skin was torn off both arms Thumbnail was torn off at the root Blood was on his clothes
I drove him back to Brook*** at pm The door was locked Nobody was at the front desk Or anywhere A Brookdale employee happened to arrive to drop off another resident, and we slipped in when she opened the door
But Dad was still locked out of his room And there was nobody anywhere around that could help us Dad waited in a chair while I walked up and down the halls on each floor looking for somebody who worked there
Finally a worker showed up with a key and a wheelchair
Let's review all the ways Brook Dale dropped the ball:
Metal door slams shut automatically when there's a fire drill
(Even if somebody's walking through the doorway.)
Did not call Dad's family when he was taken by ambulance
Would not answer the phone when they knew it was a request for medical transport
Front door locked and nobody around to open it
Nobody around inside to unlock resident's room

We've been waiting and arguing with staff since Sept about the $2000+ refund due
Dad moved into the facility in July of He was transferred out on or about Sept 6th and into hospice where he passed on Sept 9th 2016...his rent was paid to Brookdale on the 6th I have been in contact with Megan at Brookdale North/Tucson countless times and been assured on multiple occasions that the paperwork is finished, files and a check would be in route so that I can finish the family estate In January I was told, again, it was complete but would require days at the most to be paid and that she was placing an "Expedite" note on it due to the extended time we had been waiting already I never got a check, and called on March to see what the problem is I was not able to get a hold of Megan but was told she would call back ASAP...today, April 5th I called and spoke with Megan and she informed me the paperwork was not done but that she would get with the new directo

Brookdale Senior Living is a greedy, profit-driven sham of a companyThey pretend to be oh so caring for the elderly, but do not be fooledThey care about only one thing, and that is profitsI wish I could give zero starsI'm sure they must pay their workers peanuts, and for most of them it reflects in their attitudesThey are slow, lazy and surlyYou can tell they just want their shift to end and go homeMy uncle was a resident of one of their so called "communities" for over yearsEvery year the rates increased and they always found ways to tack on addition feesThey tack on a "personal service rate" plus you pay extra for "personal solutions"After he exhausted all of his funds (over $600,000) and was eligible for Medicaid, we were told there are zero Medicaid beds available in their memory care wingWe ended up moving him to a nursing home that accepts MedicaidThe nursing home did an exam on him upon arrival, and his feet we disgustingThere was crud between his toes that indicated his feet hadn't been properly washed in who knows how longThe also had unopened cases of incontinence supplies in his closet, which tells me they either over order supplies or he wasn't being changed as often as he should have beenI honestly don't know how these thieves can go to bed at night with a clear conscienceI only wish that they receive that same level of care they give when they get oldDo yourself and your loved ones a favor and look somewhere else than this terrible lying money hungry corporate monster

My mother, *** ** ***, lived at Brookdale Assisted Living, *** *** from January **to May 2, **18, with the official move-out date of June 30, **
She was in the hospital starting the morning of May 2, **and never returned to Brookdale Her bank account was charged $for May Personal Care charges and we would like days of this refunded ($875)We gave our day notice to vacate Brookdale Senior Living on June 1st, **informing in the letter that she would not be returning to Brookdale and would therefore not be using/needing any personal care for the month of June Her bank account was charged $for June personal care charges on June 5, **as of today, 8/13/18, we have not received any refund for either month

On Jun 04, 2017, I had an extensive ankle fusion on my right ankle and also five, very large medical screws inserted into my right ankle to try and keep it in placeI was sent there for two months of alleged physical therapy but the two months I was there I did not receive one single incident of any physical therapy whatsoever on that right ankle and then I was discharged without consultation of my surgeon or Breanna H*** who was my P.Aat the facilityIndeed , she was "shocked" and "stunned" about my discharge without any consultationNow, four months later I am still crippled and I cannot either stand or walk at allWe are beginning litigation against Brookdale , its Director and the head of their physical therapy department
In communications to Medicare, Brookdale admitted they never had any physical therapy plan for me which stunned but certainly appeared to me to be trueAll my "therapy" was only to stand repeatedly on my left leg and twice a day lift barbells repeatedly exercising my upper arms onlyI complained but was repeatedly told they were trying to "rebuild your upper body."
Positively, head nurse of the floor, Gloria, was dedicated and professional as was the nursing staff and the food was nutricious and deliciousBecause of these few positive services and only if Brookdale designed and daily implemented an aggressive physical therapy plan on my right ankle only, I would consider giving them another chance to daily prove they all will professionally restore my ability to stand and walk on my own, Otherwise, we feel this medical malpractice and patient abandonment will have to be litigated and professionally complained about The two months I was there in June and July absolutely no right ankle therapy! Brookdale started charging our mother for minute things to where the service fee went up over $in one month At the same time they were also raising her base rate When this first started we had a meeting and another cap was set They said they would work with us and even help our mom get into one of their medicaid beds so that she could continue to live in a place she now considered her home They said that since she has been there for so long that she would always have a place there and they would work with us and her budget so that she could stay That was all a lie They went back on their word and kept increasing her charges by thousands of dollars It is very apparent that this company does not care at all about their residents, only about moneyOur mother is aging and disabled and is now forced to find a new place to

I have read the reviews and they seem to repeat the experience that I have had with Brookdale They are inconsiderate and down right rude to the residents talking to them like they are iesThey are downright liars(April Jolly and Beth) They took my sister-in-laws cats while she was at the doctor( she pays extra to be able to have pets) They(Beth) told the police officer that was called that April had them and she was at home The officer asked if she would bring them to a location of her choice so that they could be picked up and relocated Beth told the officer that she would but April never called and then said that they were at the animal sheltchecked but they were not there She later said that a worker came and picked them up which was a lie as the animal shelter that she said they were taken to denied that that was done April had asked Rebecca S*** for the kitten and she was declined I feel that the kitten is at her house but she doesn't have the decency to tell Rebecca where they actually are She was also promised that they would have outings and activities but so far they haven't done anything for the residents The staff have given her a hard time about everything that they possible can and won't give her medicine in a timely manner If you care about your relative I advise never to put them at Brookdale They will be mistreated
