Founders Insurance Company Reviews (99)

The *** vehicle is a *** ***. Our insured struck the passenger side of the vehicle. The vehicle was determined to be a total loss, but in this case the vehicle had unrelated prior damage that exceeded the value of the vehicle. The vehicle is in very poor
condition and has over 200,miles. An offer of basic transportation has been extended and rejected. We mailed out the offer letter and forms in case Ms*** changes her mind. We regret that we cannot offer more as the valuation of the vehicle is less than the prior damage, not caused by this accident. If Ms*** wishes to accept the total loss settlement she may contact us and return the paperwork

Please be advised that the complainant in this matter is not our consumer but rather a third party claimant pursuing a claim for damages against our insured's policy. Upon our notice of this loss, the handling adjuster immediately began an investigation into this matter. A coverage
issue was identified as the driver of our insured vehicle was not listed as an authorized driver on our insured's policy. Accordingly, a coverage investigation commenced. At the conclusion of our investigation, it was determined that coverage would be afforded for this loss. Accordingly, the handling adjuster attempted to contact the complainant on October 27, to discuss settlement of this matter. Unfortunately, a message had to be left for a return call. Correspondence was mailed to the complainant extending an offer of settlement and we look forward to the complainant's reply. Should you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact me

We are receipt of the complaint filed by Ms***. Our insured
reported the loss to us. During the initial part of the claim we received an attorney letter of representation letter for Ms***When we contacted the attorney we were advised that Ms*** was going through her own carrier for her damages. The attorney was handling her injury claim. On 2/4/Ms*** contacted us and confirmed that she had filed her claim with her company Unique Insurance and they had sent an appraiser to inspect her vehicle damages. We await subrogation supports. If anything further is needed please contact us. Thank you. Sincerely,

The complainant in this matter had pursued a claim under the collision portion of her policy with Founders
Insurance CompanyHer vehicle was inspected and after the complainant advised of her choice of repair shops, payment was processed on May 27,
The complainant returned to the repair facility a short time later and advised of a noise coming from her vehicleThe shop investigated the source of the noise and diagnosed the problem as a damaged sway bar linkThe shop further advised that this damage was not related to the accident but was a result of mechanical failure due to wear and tearAs mechanical failure due to wear and tear is not covered under the complainant's policy, Founders Insurance Company regrets that we are unable to pay for this additional damageThe complainant was contacted and our position regarding this issue was explained

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2014/06/23) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I told founders when I had the original estimate that I heard a noise after the accident happened asked also once I take my car in if additional damage would be covered founders stated that if that was the case the repair shop would supplement the estimated amount I told the repair facility upon dropping my vehicle off that I heard a noise not after that statement is incorrect and typical answer from this jack leg company this company has bad business practice it's a matter of time before karma takes place for founders I am moving on and taking my business to a more respected company

I have been trying to deal with this company since 5/20/because one of their clients struck meIt is now 8/15/and I'm still without a vehicle and every time I call I get a voicemail and NO ONE calls me backI am beyond frustrated and appalled by their lack of integrity and their unprofessional acts or inaction for that matterI wouldn't recommend this company to anyone for any type of insurance needs

Please be advised that the complainant in this matter is not our consumer but rather a third party claimant pursuing a claim for property damage against our insured's policy. Upon our notice of this loss, the handling adjuster immediately began an investigation into this matter. This
loss was reported to Founders Insurance Company on March 1, by the complainant. In order to proceed forward with our investigation, a statement was needed from our insured. This was further necessitated as there was no police report filed for this accident. Unfortunately, our initial attempts to contact our insured were unsuccessful. Our attempts to contact our insured continued.
Upon securing the necessary statement from our insured, the handling adjuster attempted to contact the complainant on April 20, to discuss settlement of this matter. Unfortunately a message had to be left for a return call. No further contact has been received from the complainant to date. The handling adjuster made an addition attempt to contact the complainant on May 4, and an additional message was left for a return call. Founders Insurance Company currently awaits further contact from the complainant

I am rejecting this response because:
We were finally contacted by Founders Insurance, and they did make an offer on the vehicle of $200. Our insurance company had also sent a claims adjuster weeks ago, and they valued the car at $950, nearly times what Founders offered. As with the dozens of other complaints about the company, it seems that Founders Insurance is painfully slow in processing claims, expecting the claimant to take an absurdly low offer after waiting for weeks on end for a resolution. In my case, the supervisor I spoke too specifically said she was happy that my insurance company would give me a better settlement. They assume that I'll take the substantially higher payment from my reputable and trustworthy insurance company rather than fight this pathetic excuse for a business and risk weeks or months of further dispute. Pathetic
Sincerely,

The Complainant is a first party insured who reported a loss to us on March 16, 2015, which occurred on March...

15th. He reported that he hit a median wall with the left front of his vehicle. Arrangements were made to have his vehicle towed to a recommended shop where an estimate was written to repair his vehicle. In the meantime, the handling adjuster made atte4mpts to contact him to discuss getting his vehicle repaired. Despite leaving messages for him and sending him correspondence, the adjuster was not able to reach him until April 21, 2015. This put in motion the repairs to his vehicle, and the repairs were completed by the second week of May. After completing the repairs, the Complainant delayed picking up his vehicle from the shop. On July 24th an adjuster responded to a message he left, and he informed the adjuster that there was additional damage to the rear suspension of his
vehicle. The vehicle was inspected for this damage by a Founders Insurance Company appraiser, and it was determined that this damage was not related. It should be noted that the Complainant was driving the same vehicle when he was involved in an accident on November 4, 2014, and the impact was to the left rear of his vehicle. However, there was no coverage for this loss, as his policy had cancelled for non-payment, and the damage was never repaired During a conversation I had with the Complainant he inquired about a dispute resolution, and he was informed of the appraisal clause in his policy. A letter was also sent to him outlining the process. We are presently waiting for him to name his appraiser and have his appraiser contact our appraiser.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2015/09/03) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The first thing is I spoke to the adjuster the first week that it happened and for about 3 or 4 weeks I tried to reach her with no response. She then called me while I was at work and I couldnt answer but I called her back within 10 minutes and she didnt answer after that it took me another week or two to hear back from her. This same senerio happened again after I talk to her this previous time but this time I called her for over a month and then my wife began to call only to find out that carol no longer worked for the company and my file was just sitting on her desk. My wife then got in touch with Arthur [redacted] who then sent us our rental reimbursement with was very low considering my file sat there for over a month and trying reach Carol was very hard the previous month. We do have the email sent to Arthur about our claim and Carol no longer working for the company. You can check her resignation date to verify the time lapse. The shop that I took the car to their shop and they are saying the car is not drivable. When I had the accident I was driving the car and whatever snap must have popped lose when the car went up in the air. I am in the process of getting my speed camera or red light camera tickets to show I was driving that car during the time frame. The shop told me off the record that Mr [redacted] is trying not to pay because I admitted that the body work was on me and I didnt want them to fix it and that was before the shop said no they was not talking about the body work it is rods broken under the car that is damaged. Yes I haven't picked up my car yet because the shop is asking for storage fees that I have to come up with a month after getting married because of founders not handling me or my claim right on top of the almost $3000 that I had to spend on a rental car because of this. I do have a shop that is going to take a look at the car once I get it out. The accident that

Our position remains that the rear suspension damage is not related to this loss. This is based on an inspection by one of our staff appraiser's. It is more likely that this damage is the result of the accident the Complainant was involved in on November 4, 2014 wherein there was a direct impact to the left rear of the Complainant's vehicle. That loss was not covered because the Complainant's policy was not in effect at the time. The Complainant inquired about arbitrating this case, and he was informed of the appraisal clause in his policy, which is designed to remedy our dispute. We have followed up with a letter detailing how the appraisal clause works. We are presently waiting for him to name his appraiser and for his appraiser to contact our appraiser. To our knowledge, the Complainant's vehicle is still located at a recommended shop where the related damage was repaired by mid May. It is our understanding that the Complainant was somewhat unresponsive to the shop in making arrangements to pay his deductible and pick up his car. This is not a shop owned by Founders Insurance Company, but a separate entity. We do not control their business decisions.

Dear Sir or Madam,
We regret that the claim remains open as the investigation of coverage and liability is not yet completed.  Our insured has not yet responded to us and his cooperation is needed to resolve a coverage issue.  At this time we urge Mr. [redacted] to involve his...

carrier and allow them to subrogate us if coverage and liability is later in order and accepted.  We regret that we are unable to resolve the claim at this time.

Dear Sir or Madam,

Thank you for your letter dated  4/6/16.
We regret that there is no coverage for the loss.  We were unable to resolve a pending coverage issue due to our insured's lack of cooperation.  We have denied coverage due to violation of the policy condition.  Ms. [redacted] was advised previously to contact her carrier for assistance and resolution of her claim.
Thank you for bringing this matter to your attention and providing us an opportunity to responding to Ms. [redacted] complaint.

Sincerely,

Founders client hit me and another car in August while she was on something. Even with police reports and three witness they did not want to pay. They finally paid after me trying to call and email eveyday. They have never to this day accepted a call. The other person that was hit is having the same issues with them. I'm still waiting on them to pay my car rental bill and I will never stop emailing and calling until they do. Horrible company and I would not recommend to anyone! I think they just hope you will give up and go away.

Complaint: 11589126
I am rejecting this response because:
As an insurance company, it is their job to require their clients to cooperate in matters such as these. If their client does not cooperate, that is their problem, not mine! The vehicle is insured under their company, therefore they should be responsible for fixing damages done to my vehicle regardless of who was driving it, considering the vehicle insured under them was 100% at fault! That's a problem they need to take up with their client, I shouldn't have to suffer because he won't cooperate! And Of course the client isn't going to cooperate because his son, whom has many tickets, was the driver! That's why the vehicle wasn't insured in his sons name to begin with! This is fraudulent practice when all an insurance company has to do to deny a claim is say their client isn't cooperating!!!!
Sincerely,
Sarah [redacted]

Founders Insurance does not operate honorably. If you have a potential claim with them, GET YOURSELF AN ATTORNEY! Here is why I say that:
On September 30th,2015, Founders Insurance client William J Hughes caused a four car accident (including me and my minivan). All four vehicles had to be towed. I ended up with a trip to the hospital for neck and back pain from the "whiplash".
Most reputable insurance companies work to give you a rental car and get your vehicle repaired asap. Not Founders Insurance. Mr. Hughes was cited on scene for "failure to yield" yet Founders took over three weeks just to determine liability (see claim # [redacted]). They dragged the process out for over two months and two different Claim Reps. They would go weeks without returning our calls. They haggled over covering the rental car bills (insisting we should have to accept a compact car - that they will only pay up to that rate. I told them that would be okay except I wasn't driving a compact car and that a small vehicle was unsuitable for the needs of me and my family. Founders also forced me to go through my own insurance company for the repairs (which isn't right either) and now refuse to compensate me fairly for the pain, suffering, lost wages, and numerous inconveniences I endured throughout the entire ordeal.
Do yourself a favor. Avoid this company at all costs if possible. If you do have a claim with them, hire an attorney to assist you.

Upon our notice of this loss, the handling adjuster immediately began an investigation into this matter. A...

coverage issue was identified as there was a lapse in coverage from June 23, 2015 until July 13, 2015 at 10:16 AM when the policy was reinstated. The complainant reported a single vehicle loss that occurred on July 14, 2015. As there was no police report filed, the complainants file was referred to our Special Investigation Unit for assistance in proving the reported date of loss. The complainant has provided a tow receipt however, when attempting to contact them to verify the information on the receipt, the phone number is not valid and according to the State of Illinois, the business has been dissolved. Our Special Investigation Unit will be visiting the address of the tow company in an attempt to verify the date of loss and bring this matter to a close. The complainant will be contacted once our investigation into coverage for this matter is complete and advised accordingly. Should you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me.

This insurance company is no good. No one ever gets back to you . Everyone has a bad attitude. I talked to a claims person that tried to tell me basically I was lying about not having a key hole on my passenger door. I have Mr Daniel handling my case and his manager responded after a week telling me he needed the motorist report. Even tho the person that hit me already told them it was their fault. Then I has a lady name Eva in the claims department she doesn't answer her phone . Then when I call the claims operator she has a attitude and she I asked her to get me a manage she gave me Matt I told her no because he never answers his phone either. So I called the operator back and she had a attitude once she knew it was me calling back then without confirming it with me sent me to another managers phone who also didn't answer the phone. I am without a car I have a job have to go to school and have a child and they want to move as slow as possible I hate this company and hope people with it go somewhere else. I also have this insurance as well and will be finding a different one.

Please be advised that the complainant in this [redacted]er is not our consumer but rather a third party claimant pursuing a claim against our insured's policy.  Upon our notice of...

this loss, the handling adjuster immediately began an investigation into this [redacted]er.  Our investigation into the facts surrounding this loss revealed that our insured was the proximate cause of this loss. An inspection of the third party’s vehicle determined it was a total loss on October 31, 2016. The adjuster obtained authority to transfer the file to the total loss adjuster. The total loss adjuster made an offer on November 16th which was accepted. The title was received on November 21st and payment issued the same day. Should you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me.

Please be advised that the handling adjuster has forwarded the claim to the total loss department. ...

The total loss adjuster will contact the complainant regarding settlement offer was extended.  Upon acceptance the adjuster will contact the vehicle lien holder to obtain the necessary documents.  Forms for settlement will be issued and must be returned to include a power of attorney form.  Upon our receipt of the lien holder documents and the properly executed power of attorney, payment will be processed.  Founders Insurance Company does again extend our apologies to the complainant for any inconvenience during this claim process.  Should you have any additional questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.
