I had a new furnace and a new roof vent jack installed on Jan/22/the furnace install was fine, I was walking in my yard the next day when I found a shingle from my roof laying on my yard, I got a little suspicious and upon further investigation of the vent jack that was installed on the roof I discovered that they installed the vent jack flashing on top of the shingles and then they covered the whole vent jack flashing and about eight inches up the pipe with what looks like about a gallon of tar.The proper way to install the flashing is to slide it under at least two rows of shingles above the pipe.,I called Great Dane heating and air conditioning about the situation and asked them to send out an inspector to look at it, but instead sent out the original furnace installer and he told me that was the only way to install the vent pipe because it was in one pieceI don't know what to do, this job cost me almost $dollars and I always thought the customer came first but I guess,

We regret that Mr. [redacted] did not understand why the roof jack for his new manufactured home furnace was installed in the manor it was.  A manufactured home roof jack is a UL approved product that comes with the flashing already press welded to it, which means the product cannot be...

altered.   The flashing does not come apart from the roof jack that will enable it to be installed with it under the shingle tabs on an existing roof.  The pre-existing roof jack had the shingles over the flashing because the roof had been replaced prior to the furnace being replaced which enabled the roofers to lay the shingle tabs over the roof jack flashing.  Because this was installed after the roof was laid, the flashing is sealed with sealant on both sides of the flashing after it is seated to the roof.  We did have our technician revisit the job to confirm that the roof jack was sealed from the elements.
