Greystar Management Services Reviews (117)

The management company has violated the lease by not returning my security deposit within the fourteen day period defined in the leaseThey have also violated Section 33-of the Arizona Residential Landlord and Tenant ActI have left multiple messages and gone into the leasing office locationNo attempts have been made to reply to me through phone, mail or emailSadly, there is no recourse for me that doesn't require a substantial monetary investment

Horrible management. My daughter and her husband lived in a new complex managed by Greystar in the Denver area. They moved out after a year due to complaints about management, maintenance and billing issues. Today I received a call from a collection agency ( I cosigned) saying they owed 98.00 in utilities, cleaning fees etc. I asked why we didn't receive notice from Greystar after the move out. They said they sent a notice to some address in a city we had never heard of. They have always had my address and phone number. I resolved the issue so it wouldn't get on a credit score but disputed the charges. Greystar is inept and I would never recommend anyone to move into one of their properties.

Since I moved into an apartment at Biltmore On The Lake which is a property ran by Greystar I have only been treated like dirtI had my garage disposal break, invested with roaches, infested with beetles, and I have holes all over my apartment because of a leaking pipe that it now is going on a month without them even putting in their best effort to get it fixedEverytime I go to the office the property manager rolls her eyes the whole conversation and just tells me that they will fix it when they canIve been sprayed every week since moving in to this apartment with also being bombed twice and I still have a roach issueThe come from holes in the walls they refuse to patch (here before me), vents, drains, my dishwasher, my refrigerator, pretty much everywhereThe bugs have crawled on my year old, myself, and my infant and they still dont careOn top of all this the a/c goes out from 5-days at a time and the wont replace the chill that desperately needs it I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE

The experience that I had with a [redacted] was not an experience that I would wish on anyone They show a model of their apartment that is for lease and then have you sign the lease before showing you the actual apartment and the area where the apartment is located (claiming it is being worked on) Once I sign the lease and was ready to move in the location of the apartment was in the back and the area was not kept up like the area in the front and where the model was located Once in the apartment (what a disappointment)here are a few items to share with you; front door had area where bugs can crawl into apartment, sticky floor, leaking under cabinet, bathtub had pink stains and handle broke, bathroom sink stopper was not working, lots of unhealthy and unsafe issues

September 10,
We are sorry to hear that Mr* *** is unhappy with the enforcement of our delinquent rent policies at Tempe Park PlaceRent is due on the first of each month and late on the secondAs a courtesy we do not charge a late fee until the 4th of each month Once
rent is late, we also require the resident to pay their rent with verified funds We typically waive these requirements the first time the rent in delinquent as a courtesy This allows us to remind the resident about the need to pay their rent when due to avoid late fees and the requirement to pay with verified fundsThis is strictly a one-time courtesy that Mr* *** already received earlier this year We have to be very aware of Fair Housing Rules and when residents pay their rent late, they are assessed a late fee and they are required to bring in verified funds
We strive to always provide the best living experience for all of our residents and we appreciate any and all feedback If Mr *** would like to discuss any aspect of his lease agreement, condition of his apartment home or service requests I would invite him to come into the leasing and management office to discuss furtherThe team members of Tempe Park Place truly do care about providing the best living experience possible for our residents

Very poorly run community with rude & inefficient management out to get customers $$$:
My apartment was broken into and my dog was found roaming the garageThere was no security footage availableManagement claims the cameras in the garages & entrances are defective
Many other breaks in & robberies & nothing was done to enhance security
I moved out a month before my lease expiration & handed back the apartment early after getting the carpets professionally cleanedThey did not do a walk through and then deducted $$ for carpet cleaning as well as replacement of blinds from my security deposit
I had to personally go and collect my refund after numerous follow ups almost days after the lease expiration datethey gave a defective check that neither of my banks accepted
I go and return the check to Asst Manager Jonida Kolo who said I would receive a new check within the 1st week of AugustI document this in emailI send follow up emails asking for status & she says ..' the accounting department needs to re-issue the check vs the leading officeIts 13th August as I write this review & I don't have my check & no commitment of when I can get it

My son rented an apartment at *** *** ***, managed/owned by Greystar, located in Lynwood, WA, and locally managed by *** *** *** His lease term was from January 15, to January 14, I was a guarantor on the leaseHe gave his move-out notice on November 3, which stated he would not be renewing lease for the next year At that time, the front desk agent gave him a move-out inspection date of January 12, between the hours of 9:00am and 12:00pm My son asked if he should shampoo the carpets because the lease did not specify shampooing carpets under #–CLEANING (see below) and he was told by the agent not to shampoo the carpet- they took care of that after he moved out The agent failed to mention that we would be billed for it! The carpet was vacuumed thoroughly and was in good condition at move out#CLEANINGYou must thoroughly clean the apartment, including doors, windows, furniture, bathrooms, kitchen appliances, patios, balconies, carports, and storage roomsYou must follow move-out cleaning instructions if they have been provided If you don’t clean adequately, you will be liable for reasonable cleaning chargesWe both thoroughly cleaned the apartment to pristine condition – the way it was upon move inWe waited on January 12th for the inspection and the only one to come by was the maintenance man to check for any major repairs to be done He commented on how great the apartment looked but said he did not do inspectionsWhen we turned in keys in the office at 12:30, we asked for someone to come up and inspect apartment because no one had shown up, and we were refused Why did they make us sit there for hours and waste our time? They deprived us the right of a move out inspection and the opportunity to correct any potential problems such as changing their mind in regards to shampooing the carpetThe charges in dispute are:
Professional standard apartment cleaning $The apartment was thoroughly cleaned and in pristine condition as per the lease agreementI have photos to prove itCarpet cleaning and repair ( full dye and carpet stretching) $The lease under #said nothing in regards to shampooing carpet and we were told not to shampoo carpets It would have not been an issue to shampoo carpets and if the inspection took place and we had been advised to do it at that time, we had a full days on lease to make carpet sparkle as wellCarpet was in good condition at move out and only light soiling in high traffic areasThe claim carpet had to be dyed and stretched is not true I have photos to prove it condition of carpet I also requested proof from Greystar to back up these claims of damage as well as information on the carpet itself (type, age, installation, past tenant repairs on it) but have not received anything from Greystar except the invoice from the carpet companyRent was paid on time for the year and there is no dispute on that A refundable $security deposit was paid at time of move in The final balance billed for the utilities was $131.52, and after deducting the $refundable deposit, leaves a balance due of $in which I wrote a check and mailed with the invoice to Greystar on February 2, They have never cashed the checkWe have communicated with Greystar by certified mail times, by phone twice, and email once in trying to solve this situation They told me either it gets paid or it goes on both of our credit reports which it has In reading various review sites and talking to someone we know who also had this issue when they moved out, this is a reoccurring tenant complaint with Greystar properties Bill the tenants for any cost in apartment turnover, plus repairs, and then because the amount will be under $500, the tenant will most likely pay it to not have a negative report on their credit or the hassle of fighting it That is a perfect example of extortionWhen I helped my other son clean and move out of his apartment in Flagstaff, the management came over without having appointment, said it looked greatI was beginning to shampooing carpet this time to be safe, and they told me to stop and not to do it I told them about the problem I was having with Greystar and was told Greystar has properties in Flagstaff, and have a bad reputation in the community for the doing the same thing!

I have lived in this apartment building since they first opened almost years agoIt was called the Millennium at the timeThe building was maintained regularly and the hallways were always clean and vacuumed weeklyNow it is managed by Greystar and the property has gone to crapThe carpeting in the hallways are stained and littered with dog urine and fecesThat goes for the elevators as wellThose little puddles in the corner of the elevator are from dogsHaving to tip toe through a maze of feces and urine every day is disgusting and frustratingThis place has become a nightmareWhen I first moved in most of the residents were professionalsSince Greystar took over, they changed the name from Millenium to MotifThey completely stopped maintaining the building and vacuuming the hallways When I approached them about it they said that it wasn't in their budget Sorry but that is no excuseYou are in the wrong business if you own an apartment building and didn't budget for maintaining and cleaning the propertyWhen you pay $on a two bedroom apartment you should have high expectations, and the Motif fails to deliverThe apartment building has become the ghetto and the presence of the police their every week supports my claimIn fact one of the police officers specifically told me that they get called to this apartment building more than any other in the area A number of the residents are drug dealers and prostitutesIn fact there have been several drug busts over the last couple of monthsManagement lets anybody and everybody Live here without any screening processThe number of men coming into the building to visit prostitutes is astounding I could not express enough how disgusted I am that what I thought was a beautiful apartment building got run down so quickly I failed to mention that there are rats and cockroaches throughout the buildingHow can a building so new be infested so quickly I know they have rat traps at some of the doorway but some of the rats actually make it inside which is really disgustingDefinitely not a safe place which is apparent by the number cqr and apartments that have been broken into recentlyThis is definitely not a safe place for anyoneI am truly disgusted and cannot wait to get out of my leasePlease do yourself a favor and do not consider moving into this apartment buildingLike the majority of the yelp reviews say, you will be very, very disappointed

This company has recently robbed me off my deposit I would not do business with this company as it relates to their park central location management is unprofessional and incompetent

We have resided at different apartment complexes that have been taken over by Greystar Management and it has been the worst rental experience we have ever had The clientele has diminished, it is impossible to get a return call from management, the office staff is completely rude, we are supposed to have a gated community and our gates still don't work, we also pay for on-site security and to date we do not have a security guard as originally stated in our amenities Our rent has also increased each year and we have been at our property since the property first opened Bottom line this rental outfit sucks!

THIS REVIEW IS TO HELP OTHERS ONLY!!!! If you see the name Greystar connected to the place you want to live in.... RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN!!! It is the worst company ever. I should have researched this company before I moved into a place. LESSON LEARNED!! When something goes wrong they blame it on you! They do not listen to anyone. They have the worst employees and treat the tenants like peasants. I have lived in so many different apartment complexes and never had any issues until I lived in a Greystar managed building. I actually had the unfortunate pleasure of speaking to a very high up individual in the company and they turned it around on me when they were the ones to blame. It was such a simple fix and a HUGE safety issue. Instead of fixing problems or facing them Greystar runs and hides. They are cowards and cannot own up to their mistakes. Its frankly pathetic!! I never asked to have something horrible happen and when I asked for help they turned so fast on me. The only reason I am writing this review is to help others see that this company will ruin you and hurt you in anyway possible. I finally came to terms with the horrible treatment and stopped letting them hurt me. I am speaking to a legal consultant to help me ever since Greystar did not help me with a safety issue. Now that this safety issue is continuing to get worse I have more than enough emails, recordings, police records, pictures, videos and documents to back up my story. I even found out terrible things that this company was doing. I was neglected by this company. I finally got more people to speak up and talk to my "help". These individuals have even more proof and information to add to my case. This is a pathetic version of a company. WE ARE STANDING TOGETHER NOW... YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE TURNED YOUR BACKS ON US GREYSTAR!

Also in the lease we sign there are rules such as no more than two pets (everyone has more but when I needed a service dog they told me to get rid of one of my two cats... Illegal much?? ADA states that a service dog is not an animal.... Is), no businesses out of the apartment (Happy ending massages are occurring out of my building), no drugs or illegal activity (hard drugs are being sold and used in the building), no one can live with you without being on the lease (felonies are living here under the radar), etc. All of these are broken and no one ever follows up. There are drug dealers in my building along with a guy who is PIMPING his girlfriend out. There is a guy here who is NOT on the lease that has several warrants out for his arrest, attempted manslaughter, felonies like is christmas, tried killing his girlfriend in the building, got arrested and came right back to live here when HE IS NOT ON THE LEASE.

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: I still have not received my refund check with was allegedly overnighted on 12/4/14. Also, I contacted the apartment offices and management for weeks/months without a response. I demand an update on the status of my refund. It is only because I have been too busy to file the necessary paperwork that this has not led to a suit in small claims court. This is criminal and I am completely fed up.

To Whom It
May Concern,
The delay in refunding [redacted] deposit was due to a previous NSF check noted on his account. This caused the process to be reversed so we could research and refund the correct amount. I spoke to the [redacted] on the 30th, and ensured him the...

refund would be processed and returned to him as soon as possible.  [redacted] should be in receipt of his refund at this point. If he has not received the check, please have him call the [redacted] office so we can research and resolve.

Thank you,

We rented a one bedroom apartment at Bailey farm, Bothell WA for a 4 months lease. All of our furnitures are in storage till we move in our new home. We lived in this apartment for 3 months with only 1 air mattress and 1 cat. Before we moved out, we cleaned everything including the kitchen appliance, bathroom, laundry room, we also steam cleaned and shampooed the carpet. Since it's a short lease and no furniture at all, there's no damage, and we made sure the apartment looks as good as we moved in when we hand in the keys. Four weeks later, we received a bill from greystar, not only they kept all our deposit but also they asked for additional charges as apartment cleaning, painting Etc. We lived there for 3months with no furniture, all the walls are spotless, painting is not necessary at all. We contacted greystar for picture proof of apartment damage and receipt of services they claimed, none of those are provided. Not only to say the apartment is as new as we moved in, but also according to WA state law, landlords can only keep deposit money up to 14 days after the lease ended. Renters are not responsible for normal wear tear charges. On Revdex.com, this company is rated as F, with 31 claims in 3 years, 22 of them are related to untruthful charges. We filed a claims and had no response from them at all.

In regards to complaint # [redacted], we offer the following: When a new resident moves into the community they have a choice; they can either pay a...

refundable security deposit of $500.00 or purchase a surety bond from [redacted] for $87.50. This surety bond represents the $500.  It is important to understand when a lease is signed by more than one person, each person is fully responsible for all terms in the lease agreement. When the apartment was vacated, there was damage to the carpet and the apartment was left dirty. A breakdown for the damage is as follows:·        $56.10 -  Cleaning of apartment·        $40.80  - Replace stove drip pans·        $ 494.70  - Stains and damages to the carpet This resulted in a balance due of $591.60. The residents were sent a Move Out Statement detailing these charges to their last known address. The property also put in a claim with [redacted] for $500. There are two claims associated with this account: 1)      [redacted] posted a claim with [redacted],  Inc. for $137.40, this includes the $91.60 from the original amount owed and $45.80 for the collection agency fee. The lease agreement allows management to recapture the fee they are charged by the collection agency for collection efforts. 2)      [redacted] – posted their own claim to recapture the $500 they had to pay [redacted] for these damages. Once an account has been assigned to the collection agency, the Management Agent relinquishes all rights and control to the claim.  Any further communication needs to be directed to [redacted], inc. as they now have all the documentation in their possession.   Thank you
