Review: I have subscribed to House Beautiful in the past, but decided not to renew, due to the cost. I have a $38.00 bank debit for a House Beautiful renewal. I've called three times, asking for it to be removed. An automated voice system is all I'm able to reach. The charge showed up 03-**-2014 - according to my account summary, the renewal date was 04-**-2014. I can't get a, "live person," to help me. I've tried canceling online throught my account, but it reads, "you subscribed through an authorized agent. Your magazine will be canceled, but contact the agent directly for a refund." I'm confused. I don't know who the authorized agent is, I did not renew the subscription. So, I didn't cancel the issues. Any and all help is appreciated.Desired Settlement: I want them to reverse the charge on my bank account. Here's the details of the transaction:

Review: They have a cheap way and false way of trying to get a subscription. About a month past I received notification that I had not paid for my subscription and my credit was in jeopardy with their company. I wrote back attaching their notice stating I never requested their magazine and to take me off their mailing list . Today I received an other bill stating my account was now delinquent. They probably fool some individuals using this method to get a subscription but I am not falling for it and it needs to be stopped.Desired Settlement: I would also like to have my name removed from their mailing with written confirmation,

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.

Sincerely,

Review: Last year, I made a ONE TIME payment online. Friday, I saw that Redbook Magazine had debited my checking account for $24.97. When I called back to dispute it, a representative directed me to a page where fine print apparently told me in 2014 that I would be automatically billed again. (I have no idea if this is the same page I saw last year, but doubt it, as I would not have continued.) There was no option to opt out. I work in customer service and deal with autopay issues frequently, and it is my understanding that customers must give consent to be billed automatically. Aside from the fact that I did not give my consent and want my $24.97 refunded (and will never do business with this magazine due to what I believe are shady business practices), I believe that the way they are automatically billing customers is at best, unethical, and at worst, illegal.Desired Settlement: I want my $24. 97 refunded immediately and confirmation that Redbook (or any Hearst Magazine) will never again access my accounts. I would also like to know if the way they are automatically billing customers is, in fact, legal. Additionally, I would like to see a record of my transaction from August 2014 where I supposedly gave this consent.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[Your Answer Here]

I have received my refund and am satisfied with that. I would like for the Hearst Corporation to justify taking this money without my authorization by showing me where I consented to "automatic renewal." I would never have done that. Thank you,[redacted]?

In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

Sincerely,

Review: My wife ([redacted]) was a subscriber of Oprah Magazine but let the subscription expire as she no longer wanted the magazine. The magazine continues to be delivered with bills telling her the account is past due - even when she cancelled her subscription. They reference an agreement that we entered into but when my wife originally signed up she agreed to a certain number if issues for a set dollar amount - that was the agreement. They continue to send issues and letters stating that the account is past due and that they extended us the privilege of paying later. My wife does not want the magazine and will not pay for it - but after numerous attempts to convey this they continue to send bills and magazine. This seems like a scam, bait and switch, and unethical. Please make them stop!Desired Settlement: My wife does not want the magazine and we will not be paying for what we did not order. Please make them stop!

Review: I currently subscribe to Food Network Magazine. I was offered a "free" gift subscription for a friend, so I signed a friend up for the magazine. On 7/**/14, I was sent a Gift Order Summary confirmation asking to renew the gift subscription for $18.00. I cancelled the gift subscription on the same day I received the renewal letter.

On 8/**/14, I received an invoice for the gift subscription stating that an $18.00 payment was now due for the gift subscription. I called their customer service department that same day and spoke to [redacted]. She said that she would cancel the subscription, and no payment was due. The subscription would end January 2015.

On 10/*/14, I received a second invoice for the gift subscription stating that a payment of $18.00 is now past due. This is for a subscription that I have now attempted to cancel twice. This is turning into harassment now. I should not have to take time out of my day to deal with the ineptitude of this company.

PLEASE CANCEL THE GIFT SUBSCRIPTIONDesired Settlement: Cancel gift subscription for [redacted] under account [redacted]

Review: On November **, 2013, I purchased a Town & Country gift subscription for my mother. Per the notice I received, subscription delivery was to begin January 2014 and include 10 issues, running through November of 2014, with June/July as one issue.

Since this purchase MANY accounting errors by Hearst have occurred:

*Through June 2014, T&C's subscription department mercilessly hounded my mother to make a payment for this gift that I already purchased, and threatened to take her alleged "debt" to collections. She repeatedly wrote to their subscriptions department notifying them that she had a gift subscription already purchased by me, but to no avail. She continued to receive bills and threats.

*On June *, to stop T&C's incessant hounding of her, she mailed them a check for $25.00. She is already current through November 2014 with the subscription I purchased, so now she should be current through May 2017.

*Then, on July 12, I received an email from T&C that I owe $9.97 to renew her gift subscription, stating payment is now due, despite the fact that her subscription that I already purchased extends through November 2014 and she has paid for additional issues.

So let's review.

*I paid for a gift subscription through November of 2014.

*My mother paid an additional $25 in June 2014, equivalent to 2.5 years, which should extend her subscription from November 2014 through May 2017. (Subscription rates are $10 for 1 year and 10 issues, with June/July being a joint issue, or $20 for 2 years.)

*And now I am being billed for a new gift subscription, essentially triple billing us.

These billing mistakes are egregious and inexcusable.

My expectations/requests of T&C are as follows. Please:

*Apologize for the egregious billing/accounting errors and threats made by staff, as well as for the frustration they have caused my mother and me.

*Assure that my mother's account summary reflects that her subscription is current through May 2017, and do not hound her again for payment.

*Do NOT send me another auto-renewal for her gift subscription.

*Remove the $9.97 outstanding gift balance from my account summary.

*Correct your billing practices so that neither I nor anyone else has to waste time addressing these issues.

I appreciate T&C's prompt attention to these matters. Because my mother has repeatedly tried to work with Town & Country/Hearst, I am complaining to the Revdex.com. I tried to email this complaint to T&C, but their online form for emails would not allow me to send the entirety of my complaint (or even half of my complaint) and T&C does not publish its actual email address.

Per Revdex.com instructions, I have removed account numbers and names.Desired Settlement: My expectations/requests are as follows. Please:

*Apologize for the egregious billing/accounting errors and threats made by your staff to my mother, as well as for the frustration T&C's actions have caused my mother and me.

*Assure that my mother's account summary reflects that her subscription is current through May 2017 and do not hound her again for payment.

*Do NOT send me another auto-renewal for her gift subscription.

*Remove the $9.97 outstanding gift balance from my account summary.

*Correct your billing practices so that neither I nor anyone else has to waste time addressing these issues.

Review: I have faithfully received O Magazine for the last couple of years. However, due to health issues and money constraints, I notified the magazine on three separate occasions that I did NOT want to renew my subscription this year. However, despite my notifications, I kept receiving dunning notices -- the last one being from credit and collections.I have not received the magazine in a while and assumed that it was because my subscription had been stopped, as requested. Review: I received an invoice from Good Housekeeping requesting that I send a payment for a 1 year subscription that I did not request.

Good Housekeeping magazine has a practice of trying force subscription on consumers. Their Subscription Services Department sent me a statement that indicated that I had requested a subscription and that I be billed later for payment. They also stated that my good standing with them was at risk.

I had a 1 year subscription from 7-*-13 to 6-*-2014 and it has expired. I do not wish to renew.Desired Settlement: I am requesting that Good Housekeeping write a letter of apology for the practice and also a letter stating that I do not owe them anything.

Review: The Hearst Company keeps sending out letters demanding payment. Howeevr according to the Food Network site I am all paid up on my current subscription. Also when I look up Heart Magazines online I get a different site then the one in the letter. My thought is this Hearst is a real company but these letters demanding payment are from an imposter company. Like I already stated I pay all my bills online and I know that I am up to date. I would be happy to mail the letter I received to the Revdex.com if requested.Desired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Other (requires explanation)

I simply want this "fake" company to stop sending me "fake invoices". I have never sent them payment or information by mail or their site they request in the letter. I simply want the information out there of what I feel is a scam and to have them stop sending me anything.

Review: "O, The Oprah Magazine" is sending a bill for a subscription to my 5 year old daughter. They offer no phone number on the bill or website. My daughter [redacted] was gifted a subscription to "O, The Oprah Magazine" by a family member we are no longer in contact with. We never signed up or agreed to anything, the magazines just come here and get recycled.

We received an invoice dated 5/**/2015 for $19.97 for a so called "delinquent account" #[redacted]. We have no agreement or contract with "O" and furthermore this bill has been sent to a minor. The company offers no means to contact them to resolve billing issues. Unacceptable.Desired Settlement: 1. Written confirmation that the bill has been written off and the account cancelled.

3. Written confirmation that you will not mail anything to my home in my daughter's name or mine, other than a response to this complaint.

Review: Dear Revdex.com, I order and pay in advance ONLY for my magazine subscriptions. I NEVER agree to being billed nor do I ever consent to being automatically renewed. By doing this, I try to avoid scams by magazines that try to continue subscriptions I never authorized.I placed a 1 year order for House Beautiful and paid the full cost of $7.97 in advance for it. I kept the original order form to prove this rate. The form advised House Beautiful Magazine would be sent after payment was received. It was and I received the magazine. I did not renew it. I just received a notice from this company-saying it is from their "Credit and Collections" Dept. and giving me a web address to pay them a total due of $14.17. I do not owe this money. I paid for one year and never authorized renewal. This should be simple to correct except they have nowhere on the website to make contact with them-only pay, order new magazines, or renew. There is no Customer Service phone number. I took the time to fill out the form on their website asking for correction, and them I hit 'send'.( The Form did not send with message"We are experiencing system issues".) I am hoping you can help me since I dealt with this same outfit a few years ago over a Readers Digest Magazine. It took me many months and much stress to resolve it. They tried the same scam.I would very much like to receive written notice that I never did and do not owe money for this magazine beyond the issues I already paid for and received. In addition I would like to cancel the other two magazine Oprah Magazine and Redbook Magazine (also pre-paid in full) that they also have under my account #[redacted] since I expect them to do the same with these magazines: that is attempt continue them and bill me indefinitely. I tried to cancel these subscriptions online today and the automated form said that I could not since they were a "bundle". This is RIDICULOUS! They are already paid for! I want no refunds and want to only be free of them and hope that you can help. Thanks
