Indigo Park Canada Inc. Calgary branch Reviews (%countItem)

I was visiting my doctor and printed a tag as I always do and placed on my dash. When I came out of my doctors office I saw the Indigo driving away. I approached the indigo driver to show him my ticket that was on my dash and he was annoyed. He then took my ticket which showed my licence plate and the hours I was allowed to be parked there and he said he would take care of it. Now months later I have gotten a letter in the mail saying I owe $110 or it is going to collections!!! I have been calling Indigo for weeks and no one is calling me back! what disgusting customer service and a money grab!

I parked in the Northgate Mall parking lot on Saturday where I have been parking since 1974 and never before received a ticket. On Saturday I received a $65.00 ticket, we were in the Mall for less than two hours. I called Indigo on Saturday and again today and was informed that as of June 2018 this is now the rule and there are signs. I informed the young lady that after parking there for 40 plus years and seeing signs everywhere I wasn't really paying a lot of attention to them. I have not been there since June, no mercy, no grace. This is crazy, I cannot afford $65.00, I have proof I was in the mall and not somewhere else, but not even a one-time warning. The true loser will be Northgate mall as I will never shop there again.

We paid to park, but put in the wrong license plate We changed it on the app but it did not register with the session. We got a parking ticket.
On Friday November 30th we paid to park at Indigo parking lot 82. We arrived around 7:00pm, downloaded the app on our phone and created a vehicle profile using the license plate ***. Before paying, my husband realized he used license plate and changed it to ***. Then he paid $5.00 to park. We then went to our party.

At 10:30 we arrived back at our vehicle and found a parking violation notice on the vehicle. I immediately called Indigo and left a message about the mix up.

The parking notice was # ***

I called 6 more times between Dec 3rd and Dec 6th and they finally called back on Thursday Dec 6th at 11:15. I explained the problem again to the operator and she said that I would have had to pay for a new parking session because their app does not allow for corrections to be made to a paid for parking session. She has offered to reduce the parking ticket to $25 as long as we pay before Dec 14th. If we do not pay by then the price will go to $85 and then be sent to collections.

I think this is unfair practice. I informed them immediately of the error and left a message. We can see on the app that a new and correct license plate was added at the time of purchase and the system they are using does not allow for customers to fix simple errors they make.

I received a parking ticket by this company in May 2018. I Phoned them the next to tell them I had proof of payment. I talked to *** at the collections division and she told me to e-mail the proof of payment to her e-mail address which I did (my email was successfully sent). In November I received again a non-payment notice (price doubled). I phoned them, left numerous messages to ***. After few days she phoned me and ask to e-mail her again the documents which I did. Next one of her colleague *** phoned me and ask me to send the documents to his e-mail address which I did. I also sent a copy of proof of payment and copy of my emails through canada posts registered mail on November 19. The mail was delivered on November 23. Today December 5, I received again a notice of non-payment.

If there were any options, I would give this parking company 0 star. This is a horrible company that is solely interested to give you a ticket anyway. Their practice is unethical ***. We all should move forward to take legal actions against this phoney company. Their motive is just simply making money by giving you some violation tickets which is absolutely ridiculous in most of the cases. You will find tickets within just 5 minutes after you park which means their trained staffs always monitor via cameras and wait for the right moment. They gave us parking ticket in a free parking lot just because we forgot to register within first 5 minutes which we eventually did after that. They don't allow people some time to breathe and then get their precious permit. We informed them to dispute their so called ticket in court; but, they were so stubborn and sent this to the another fishy debt collection company *** All the reviews online prove how worse the company is. Perhaps, in my life, it is the most pathetic company I've ever dealt with. We will seek legal assistance against these dishonest people.

Absolutely terrible. Poor business practices. Poorly trained staff. Unethical and nasty customer service in their call centre.

It's really important to always keep and save your receipts from the machines in Indigo's lots. Or avoid their lots all together.

I've recieved my second ticket from these guys left on my vehicle only 4 minutes after I purchased 120 minutes of time at a premium price of $26.00. 2 hours was the least amount of time available even though I only needed 40 minutes. With 116 minutes remaining, their meter jockey issued me a ticket for $65.00 (which rises to $85.00) if not paid in 10 days.

I called to politely bring this to their attention before my time even expired. Their voicemail promises a call back 'at their earliest convenience'. Of course that would be not at all.

Again, I call. But in an effort to reach I live person I select option 2 for monthly parking passes. On this line, they answer first ring. So they do have staff, but primarily only staff who are interested in selling, not staff that are interested in resolving errors. I explain the situation. She tells me she cannot help me- it's not her department. I understand, but request a manager she laughs and says 'well no, that's not gonna happen mmmkay?' She clearly enjoys her job most when she can aggravate already frusterated consumers.

Basically, this company is going to ticket your vehicle whether you purchase meter time or not. And if you choose to call them on ticketing you during purchased time, they will make it incredibly inconvenient to resolve, so inconvenient that you are almost better off investing your energy into just paying the ticket. They will laugh at your concern. And they choose to price their parking service ridiculously high by comparison of the competition so definitely shop around. Save time, save frustration, and save yourself money by parking anywhere but with indigo.

I parked at an Avis car rental location that uses an Indigo lot, and which has an agreement allowing them to keep as many vehicles there as they need to. I was given a notice to put on my dash while I rented a larger vehicle for a road trip.

Well, months later I get mail about an overdue ticket. Presumably, the ticket written by their rep blew off of my car while I was away. Indigo's rep said on the phone that there was no notice on the dash and that I parked in the wrong part of the lot, both of which are not true. They offer to reduce the amount but won't admit fault, which is curious isn't it? If the ticket is valid then shouldn't the full amount be due? If the ticket was issued in error, then shouldn't the entire amount be written off? This "reduced fee" approach is just another sales tactic to pressure stressed out people to pay.

I spoke with a manager at Avis. This happens to their customers all the time and there's little they can do about it.

The section on complains in Indigo's terms of services reads, in its entirety:

" Section 9 - Complaints

Any request for information or clarification and any possible complaints must be addressed to the Site www.INDIGOpark.ca under the Contact Us heading.

Any request pertaining to a Parking Lot is transmitted directly to the manager of the Parking Lot concerned."

That's it. There isn't even a suggestion of a process to appeal an error. Once Indigo decides you owe them money, rightly or wrongly, that decision is attached to your license plate forever. You don't have to pay, their "tickets" don't constitute debt and cannot be sold to a collections agency without a court order. But you are left to dread the company causing you grief on every future occasion when you need to park.

It's truly wonderful how half of Calgary's parking lots are managed by a dishonest, abusive, and unaccountable corporate monstrosity. But it's clearly a successful business model, since Indigo lots have multiplied across the city in the last decade. Indigo should be expropriated by the city and their lots made into public parking.

Indigo Parking are trying to charge me for a free parking lot where I was a legitimate customer at a restaurant.
Indigo Parking Ticket/Notice # ***
Issue Date: ***
Issue Time: ***
Location: ***
Violation: The licence plate of this vehicle has not been registered
Balance Due: $65

I recently received a past due notice (August 28th, 2018) for a parking "fine". The letter was dated August 7th but I had just returned from vacation on August 28th when I received it in the mail. I was confused how I received a parking ticket when I was away but it was actually for August 25, 2017 and not 2018. I called Indigo to get more information on the ticket when I found out it was from a year ago. The agent on the phone said I did not enter my license plate in the system when I received the ticket. I was told it was left on my windshield but there was no ticket on my car when I came back to my car after taking my girlfriend, niece and nephew to *** for lunch. I had them email me all of the information they had from that day. They sent me an email with a copy of the ticket and a picture of my vehicle with the ticket on my car. I was parked right beside the *** and did not see any signs for entering my license plate for parking. I have never been to that mall parking lot before. My only concern was to make sure my niece and nephew were safe from cars so I was not looking for any signs. As I parked right out front of the restaurant, I don't believe there were any signs close by.

Anyway, I emailed Indigo with a credit card statement showing that I had lunch at *** on August 25, 2017 and I did not see any signs for the "free" parking. The past due amount was originally $110 because it was late but they knocked it down to the original $65 after I pleaded my case by providing credit card back up. I would have contacted Indigo immediately if I would have seen the ticket on my windshield that day. I would have had no reason to throw it away since I was a legitimate customer that day.

Indigo had the nerve to say in their email that "We consider this matter closed and will not be accepting further discussion on this fine.". I told them I did not consider the matter closed as I believed I shouldn't have to pay even $65 for "free" parking when I was an actual customer at the *** and already paid $90 for lunch. I had no reason to look for any sign for parking since I was parked right out front of the restaurant. Like I said, I haven't been to that mall before and would have no reason to think I would have to enter my license plate number to park. I have never been to a mall before where this was necessary.

Indio did not seem to care that I was an actual customer. I feel as if they are taking advantage of actual customers and have no empathy towards anyone. They use bully scare tactics to people, threatening them with collections and having their credit impacted. They told me I had until September 26th to pay their "fine". I have already received a Notice of Authorization to forward file to legal counsel with request to file suit from *** collection agency with a date of authorization of September 18, 2018. Again, threatening legal action if not paid by September 28, 2018.

I told them in my email that I did not agree with their decision or reasoning and that I would be fighting them on this "fine". I could see if I blatantly refused to pay for parking and received a ticket but this was for a free parking lot where I did not see a sign for having to enter my license plate number. They use bully tactics to scare people into paying these so called fines instead of fighting them. This is how they continue to make money.

I believe that they should have thrown out my ticket/fine after I proved I was an actual customer that day and wasn't taking advantage of their parking lot.

I refuse to even go to *** because of Indigo and their practices and attitude.

Unjust ticket sent to Collection Agency. No notification for a year.
JULY 11, 2018 - received a letter from Indigo Collections stating I had a parking ticket from July 19, 2017 and a notice was on my windshield - which was not true. I parked at Sears parking lot to go shopping. No notices, or signs posted about paid parking and nothing on the door of the store. When I came out there was no ticket on my windshield. I knew nothing until the Collections letter arrived. Called their offices and they were rude and uncooperative.Receive a Default Notice from *** mid September stating legal actions were starting September 6th. Notice states there were various collection letters sent (only one) and various phone calls (not a one!) with no response.

I parked across the street from the Foothills Hospital. Walked off the property for 10 minutes to run to Tim Horton's - was seen walking off property and was told that it was not permitted. I returned to wait for a friend and found that I was given a $85 ticket - the ticket could be reduced to $65 if paid within 10 days. I sent an email and argued that it was a first offense and I was only off the property for 10 minutes - this is the response I received: "Because it is a first offence, I am able to offer the reduction to $50.00 or else there would be no reduction offered. I consider this matter to be closed." I responded asking to speak with a manager - I never heard from her again. This company is NOT a City of Calgary company - they are a private company *** people - the woman threatened to put this action into collections.

During Stampede week I used the Indigo location, and paid cash. After returning, there was a parking offence notice on my dashboard.
During Stampede week, I used the Indigo parking location to park my vehicle. I paid cash for underground parking to the attendant with instruction to park anywhere in the underground parking garage. Upon my return, after a couple hours I found a parking ticket violation issued by Indigo because my vehicle was parked in a reserved spot. I left the parking and asked the attendant why I was not informed about parking rules and regulations. She seemed very confused and apologetic about the whole situation as she was very young and seemingly just thrown in that position without proper training. I called Indigo and raised a concern about my ticket and the customer service representative I spoke to, told me that I was not the only one who had this issue. The rep said she would tell her Supervisor, but I have not received any reply yet. I have my ticket from the parking attendant, which does not specify where to park, nor does it specify where not to park. As there were no instructions from the employee, I am writing to have this parking infraction notice taken away and struck from the record. The parking was dated: July 9, 2018. The amount for the parking was $20.00 which was paid by cash. The parking ticket issued by West Park Indigo is XXXXX. The parking infraction notice issued by Indigo is XXXXXXX. The notice amount is $65.00. The location is 047, lot CCAXXX-XX, and was issued by Patroller #.

Initial Business Response /(1000, 13, 2018/08/08) */
This customer parked in someone else's reserved stall that is clearly marked reserved 24hours/7days a week. I have reduced that notice to $25.00 payable by August 15th, 2018.

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /(3000, 15, 2018/08/13) */
(The consumer indicated he/she did not accept the response from the business.)
I have paid the reduced amount as I do not want to drag this issue out. I am very disappointed with their service and respond. Clearly it was a special event and they made underground parking available to Stampede visitors. The whole level was completely empty and under aged employee they had hired just charged us I told to park anywhere.
Some shady business practice they are using while their Partol controller is slapping the tickets on vehicles. I just wish that I was a little earlier returning to my vehicle as I would have few words with him as no other Indigo staff was responding to my calls or Emails.

Fastest parking ticket of all time.
I went inside north hill shopping centre in calgary to get some business done. I went to look for a parking machine to register my plate but could not find one because I walked right by one.

When I found it I couldnt remember my work vehicles plate so I went back to write it down. I already had a $65 ticket on my window.

***, I didnt get any business done and I intend to file a complaint with whoever will listen.

The entire timeline of the ticket to them receiving my payment was less then 12 minutes

I parked in a "visitors only" lot. I was a customer of the address listed. Received a ticket, provided them proof, they still refuse to cancel.
I received "parking notice" *** after parking in a WestPark/Indigo lot. The sign in front of my car said "visitors to *** only". That is a commercial building with several businesses in that building with the same address. I visited one of the businesses but received a "notice"/ticket. After contacting WestPark and providing proof that I was a genuine customer, they still refused to cancel the ticket because I did not shop at the building owner's store. Even after explaining to them that at least 3 businesses have the same address on the parking sign and are in the same building, they still refused. I asked to speak with a manager and they refused. These are fraudulent business practices, extortive, and just plain wrong. If their sign said "Parking for Business A only", that would be different. But the sign said "parking for *** only" and I was a customer of one of the businesses at that address.

It is very unclear that vehicles have to register to park at North Hill mall on the south side.
I parked at North Hill mall on June 14, 2018. I've lived in the city for over 60 years, and have parked at this mall many times in the past but not in several years. I have not been to other malls that require pay parking in the city.
When I returned to my car, there was a ticket on the windshield. I had to look around to find a notice and more so to see a machine to register for free parking. I phoned to inquire, and was told they could reduce it to $50, but I would still need to pay or it would be sent to collections. If I knew I needed to register for parking, I would have. I feel that a situation should have issued only a warning for a first offender. I feel $85 is far too much of a penalty for a service that for 30 minutes.

I parked at an Indigo lot on 9th Ave SW. By mistake, I entered the wrong license plate number in the machine. Realizing my error, I immediately called Indigo, got voice mail, and left a message explaining the situation, giving the correct license plate number. I called again 20 minutes later, again got voice mail, and left the same message again. 5 hours later when I returned to my car, I had a ticket. I called Indigo, explained my situation to the woman who answered. She said she would do what she could. Later I received a voice message saying she had reduced the penalty from $65 to $25. While I appreciate that she helped reduce the penalty, I feel any penalty is unfair in this case.

We had parked our car at the 9th avenue SW paid for the parking at Indigo, but the ticket did not come out twice. We left since we had paid for it. After 3 weeks we get a notice saying we had not paid for the parking. And can you imagine a fine of $ 150.00 for the parking that we paid. We send them a mail with the bank statement showing we had paid. But the person at the other end is very rude and arrogant and she send us mail saying, we have to pay for the parking. These people are bend on making money by harassing people. They want to make money by dishonest means.

They charge me for not issued parking violation notice. I already issued the valid parking ticket ahead of time & showed it to the office on site.
I had a doctor appointment on 11am 2018/03/06, I arrived the parking site at 10:41am, I parked the car in front of the clinic, I issued valid parking ticket at 10:42am,then backed to my car and found there was a patrol officer standing behind my car, I explained to him that I just arrived and just issued the ticked, he checked the ticket and told me "You are OK, No violation" clearly, after I put the valid ticket on the dash, I asked him again for this issue, he confirmed twice "You are OK for sure". Last Friday I received a letter from them asking for the 110 dollars. I called them and explained what happened, they got back to me and reduced the charge for 65 dollars and told me this claim is closed, no more talking and hung up the phone directly. I called them a few times and left messages, no call back at all, I called the front desk they just told me: no more talking and you must pay the money right way otherwise the penalty will be issued, and hung up rudely. The facts are as below:
1, I arrived at 10: 41 am
2, I issued the valid ticket at 10:42am
3, I showed the valid ticket on site to the officer, he confirmed twice: You are OK.
4, He did not issue the violation notice at that time on site(this is confirmed by the lady dealing with my case in their company).
5, I still keep the valid parking ticket.
6, They sent me a past due notice for 110 and mentioned that the time to issue the notice is 10: 43am
6, The indigo westpark reduced to 65 dollars and insist on charging me for not issued violation notice.

Parked at North Hill Shopping Center thought I had 2hrs free when I was in the store mentioned the parking fee to sales rep as I had never seen it before, and she told me I had to register even for the free period. Went back to get my plate number to register it and had been given a ticket within minutes of parking there. I called to explain, they said they would reduce to $50.00.(for the few minutes) said that seemed unfair and I would like to go to court or have someone else look at it as that was way to much. Was told I would get the information in the mail if I wanted to take to court. Well I got the information 11 months later... Haven't shopped at North Hill since and never will.

Issued a parking ticket when I have a parking permit to park in their lot

Southwood Care Centre Parking Lot
As a teacher at *** I bring 25 students to the Southwood care centre each Friday to partake in a program called *** , which connects seniors with high school students. It's a fabulous program that bridges the ages. We have been going all year. I park or carpool with another teacher that also volunteers to supervise.
On Friday April 27th I was issued a parking ticket by Indigo Parking Authority for parking at a Southwood Care Centre even though I have a parking permit. I arrived at approximately 2:40 pm and I was ticketed at 2:47 pm. I called Indigo's office at 3:40pm after our session with the seniors ended. The reception claimed she was new and looked into the ticket but it was no yet in the system as it had just been issued. She took my name and phone number and promised to call me on Monday, April 30. She failed to call me.
Wednesday May 2 I called Indigo again asking for an update and spoke to someone named Kim ***. She was short with me and total me I would need to pay the ticket. I asked if I could forward her a copy the ticket and my parking permit. She agreed after some conversation. I forwarded the information. That evening Kim called me to tell me that one of the letters on the permit was not matching my license. B/E and my permit for the Care Centre was not valid. You can see that it's a simply error and clearly the parking permit is issued to me and it says *** on it also. She stated that I would need to pay and that I was out of luck.
Thursday, May 3, Kim emailed me to say the fine was reduced to 25 dollars and I must pay for face the consequences of the fine going to collections and that it would harm my credit score. She would not tell me the reasons why it was not cancelled . I called their office again and this time I asked the receptionist if I could speak to a manager. She was rude and aggressive with me claiming I would never be speaking to anyone but her and she hung up on me.
Please find attached parking ticket and my parking permit.

Getting a ticket for parking on a FREE mall parking lot even when I have a receipt for purchase at said mall
I got a parking notice for parking at the *** the reason being that car was not registered at their meter, however that's a free parking lot for customers at that mall and I have the receipt to prove that I used it for the intended purposes. There is absolutely no indication that there is possibility of paying an absurd of a fine if you don't register and the company refused to listen to me, ignoring my emails and hanging up on me when I called.
My license plate number is: ***
The date of the parking fine was Dec2nd, 2017

This was a valid notice.

(The consumer indicated he/she did not accept the response from the business.)
I don't think I have to say why I don't accept their response .Indigo clearly doesn't care about their customers(yes, we are customers using a service) .
However, as a customer I get to choose which companies services to use and I am going to go out of my way NEVER to pay for parking to Indigo or ***, even with a little extra walk .I am sure over a lifetime of working downtown I am worth a lot more than this $*** that you guys were unwilling to negotiate.
