Provided very little information unless you paid more. A membership with monthly charges was automatically started without my knowledge. When I called to cancel, they said they would only refund half of one month's charges. This is a terrible business to get involved with. I would recommend that everyone stay away from this type of scam.

First of all, it is HIGHLY misleading to have a checkbox for a subscription on the original purchase form, and then to IGNORE IT WHEN UNCHECKED to forcibly subscribe the poor consumer -- in blatant conflict with the consumer's intentions.   Instant Checkmate maintains that their theft is justified by stating somewhere else on their website, OUTSIDE the sample purchase dialog, that they will hijack the purchaser's information will be hijacked for monthly billing of an unauthorized amount.  This is nothing less than FRAUD.  It is no different than a brick and mortar merchant cloning a plastic card for additional charges once the customer has left the premises.
It seems highly convenient that Instant Checkmate claims they will send me a refund in another week -- as if they are hoping I will lose focus on this issue and fail to follow through on whether they actually do issue a refund.
It is THEFT that they are admitting wrongdoing and yet only offering to refund LESS THAN HALF of the $240 dollars they charged me!    The company's entire revenue must consist of these purloined funds from keeping half of the money they stole, instead of issuing proper refunds.
They have ONLY refunded $11.43, certainly NOT the $114.30 they currently claim, and absolutely NOT the $240 dollars they stole from me! 
I certainly do hope that Revdex.com will not mark this claim as answered under these circumstances!   I am happy to send you a follow-up after July 15th when the UNSATISFACTORY PARTIAL refund is promised.

I have reviewed the response provided by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution partially satisfactory.  I personally, and sincerely, appreciate the membership refund but ideally, Instant Checkmate would modify its upfront marketing disclose that a "basic" membership includes some public records, and that an additional fee for private records or "premium" content is required.  Ideally, this information would be displayed at the point of enrolling in the membership to get the initial report, versus the point when the user realizes only limited data is being displayed and additional data is available for an additional fee.

I was looking for my brother and decided to do this on myself first. Well of course it baits you in and you have to pay a fee (which will be auto billed until you stop) before you can see what a sham it all is. I then tried for my boyfriend. They had him married and divorced 3 times, Both our FB accounts were not us and the pics to boot! My birthdate a address were correct and, .oh, yeah and my SIGN. (What millennia is it?) Persons listed as possible family, friends, business partners etc...I had never heard of. I could probably get more accurate information with a crystal ball. (Of course pertinent items (which are probably as wrong as well) are another fee..etc. I was so angry that I fell for this sham...I called and cancelled-. which just cancels your auto payment. THERE ARE NO REFUNDS SO THINK ABOUT IT,
I first told the woman who answered how off the information was, including the wrong FB accounts displaying with pictures. I then asked why there wasn't an area to correct or dispute information. We apologize for the confusion with the sign up process that Ms. [redacted] had with Instantcheckmate.com. Our system is designed so that if an account is cancelled you are unable to create an account with the same email address and credit card used on a prior account.
 
When Ms. [redacted] called and the Member Care Representative spoke with her she was able to pull up that account using her first and last name in our system. The customer record provides us with the information about the account. In case a customer needs help logging in to their account or needs a password reset.
 
3. Confidentiality and Security of Personal Information
i. User Ability to Access, Update, and Correct Personal Information
We maintain a procedure in order to help you confirm that your Personal Information remains correct and up-to-date. At any time, you may contact Instant Checkmate via email: [email protected] to update your Personal Information or request that your Personal Information no longer be shared by Instant Checkmate. In the case that your credit card, user name, or password is lost, stolen, or used without permission, promptly contact Instant Checkmate at [email protected] to update the Personal Information we have on file for you.
ii. Security
The information stored on Instant Checkmate's computer use industry standard security measures (such as a firewall and password protections) in place to protect against the loss, misuse, and alteration of the information under Instant Checkmate's control. Notwithstanding such measures, Instant Checkmate cannot guarantee that its security measures will prevent its computers from being illegally accessed, and the Personal Information on them stolen or altered.
