If you choose this service you need to be aware of a few important things. In and of itself, Instant Checkmate isn't a bad service. It's just somewhat misleading. What you get for the "1 month" subscription fee is access to some basic info on a person. This is the first misleading thing, they say you get unlimited searches, but what you get is very limited information on an unlimited amount of people. It's very basic info, name, addresses, possible relatives, federal licenses, etc. They do then offer a more comprehensive report for an additional fee. Here's the catch. If you only get the complete report of one or two people, you are essentially paying the same price (about $50 ~ Monthly Subscription fee + Comprehensive report fee) that most of these services charge per report. The more complete reports you run the better the value you will get from this service. If you only plan on one or two reports, there are several more cost effective services out there. If you plan on doing bulk, this service may be worth the cost. The comprehensive reports can be fairly thorough, but not necessarily 100% complete. Here's why: Several of my searches turned up the same person in multiple listings. Each listing had some of the information but none were complete. While there was some overlap in information I still had to pay to get the full report for each entry. The more information you have ahead of time the better off you'll be when scanning through lots of entries for the same name, sometimes even multiple people with the same name in the same town. Additionally, it can be hit or miss about whether there is available criminal information about an individual. At least one of my searches showed no criminal information for someone I know has a prior record. They offer a "Court Runner" service for an additional fee that will send a real person to the Court of Record and request those files for you if they are available. I did not use that service so I can't say whether it's worth the cost or not. Though I did get a few hits on liens and other various items of possible concern. Another factor to keep in mind is that when you sign up for the 1 month subscription (which "appears" to only be one month) you are actually entering into an ongoing monthly subscription and will be charged accordingly. If you only want 1 month, call and cancel that membership before the end of the first month to avoid a recurring charge. It will be very difficult to get them to refund if you don't. All in all, the cost of the full reports are inline with what other services charge, still, you may not get all the info in one go and may need to spend additional money to get all the info on a person. In that regards, this service may in fact be more expensive. It all depends on what you want to get out of it. I will say that there is no one service or company that truly gives you everything, but this one can get you 70 to 80%. The question then becomes, how much that information is worth to you?

a) Standard Membership Plans
Instant Checkmate offers two standard Membership Plans for Background Reports. All Membership Plans are billed up front for the entire term selected.
Standard Background Report Membership Plan with a 3-Month Term: For a standard 3-month Membership Plan, the debit or credit card or other payment account you provide will be billed $54.71 immediately upon purchase and $54.71 every 3 months thereafter, unless and until you cancel.
Standard Background Report Membership Plan with a 1-Month Term: For a standard 1-month Membership Plan, the debit or credit card or other payment account you provide will be billed $22.86 immediately upon purchase and $22.86 every month thereafter, unless and until you cancel.
Instant Checkmate offers two standard Membership Plans for Email Reports. All Membership Plans are billed up front for the entire term selected.
Email Report Membership Plan with a 3-Month Term: For a standard 3-month Membership Plan, the debit or credit card or other payment account you provide will be billed $19.99 immediately upon purchase and $19.99 every 3 months thereafter, unless and until you cancel.
Email Report Membership Plan with a 1-Month Term: For a standard 1-month Membership Plan, the debit or credit card or other payment account you provide will be billed $7.99 immediately upon purchase and $7.99 every month thereafter, unless and until you cancel.
If your payment for a full term is declined due to insufficient funds, Instant Checkmate reserves the right to bill in monthly installments based on the monthly rates associated with the Membership Plan you selected.
b) $1.00 Trial Membership
If you select a trial Membership Plan (“Trial Membership Plan”), you will be able to try a Membership Plan and its accompanying services for five (5) days from the date of purchase for only $1.00. If you select a Trial Membership Plan, the debit or credit card or other payment account you provide will be billed $1.00 immediately upon enrollment, and you will have five (5) days from the time of enrollment to try out Instant Checkmate’s Services under the Membership Plan. If you do not cancel your Trial Membership Plan before the expiration of the 5-day trial period, on the 6th day after you enroll, you will automatically be enrolled in a monthly Membership Plan and the card you provided at the time of enrollment in the Trial Membership Plan will be charged $29.63 immediately and $29.63 approximately every thirty (30) days thereafter, unless and until you cancel.
c) Nonstandard Membership Plans
Instant Checkmate sometimes offers promotional membership offers or the opportunity to purchase a single report or several reports for an identified price with no further obligation. If you enroll in a nonstandard Membership Plan, Instant Checkmate expressly reserves the right to bill you at the identified price and based on the terms disclosed at the time of you enroll.
d) Negative Option
BY SIGNING UP FOR A MEMBERSHIP PLAN, YOU AUTHORIZE INSTANT CHECKMATE (AND ITS PARTNERS, AFFILIATES AND/OR AGENTS) TO CHARGE YOUR DEBIT OR CREDIT CARD OR OTHER PAYMENT ACCOUNT THE FEES ASSOCIATED WITH THE MEMBERSHIP PLAN’S TERM, AND YOU ACKNOWLEDGE AND AGREE THAT INSTANT CHECKMATE WILL NOT OBTAIN ADDITIONAL AUTHORIZATION FROM YOU FOR EACH RECURRING FEE CHARGED TO YOUR DEBIT OR CREDIT CARD OR OTHER PAYMENT ACCOUNT. We're open 24/7 (Holiday hours may vary). Any cancellation request will ensure you are not billed further.
g) Refund Policy
Our number one goal at Instant Checkmate is customer satisfaction. If you are ever not satisfied with our Membership Plan and/or Services, feel free to call one of our customer support staff at 1-800-222-8985, and we will work to resolve your issue. We're open 24 hours a day, seven days a week (Holiday hours may vary). Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis with the ultimate goal of complete customer satisfaction.
h) Taxes
All orders are subject to applicable taxes in the states where the member resides.
i) Discounts and Promotions
Any applicable discounts or promotional prices will be noted at the time of purchase on the checkout page for your order.
j) Billing Errors
If you believe that you have been erroneously billed, please notify our Customer Service Department toll-free at 1-800-222-8985 immediately to notify us of such error.
k) Reversals and Chargebacks
Instant Checkmate considers charge backs and reversals as potential cases of fraudulent use of our Membership Plans and/or theft of Membership Plans and will be treated as such. Instant Checkmate reserves the right of filing a complaint with the appropriate local and federal authorities to investigate. Be advised that all activity and IP address information is being monitored and that this information may be used in a civil and/or criminal case(s) against a customer if there is fraudulent use and or theft of Membership Plans.

Extremely misleading website. They take all your information including credit card information before telling you they don't work on smartphones and iPads. It remains to be seen whether they will refund money. They should have an F rating. It is fully misleading designed to get a person to pay more money for nothing.

In my case only 18% of their recovered public records were delivered, offering additional information if I pay more money. This is very misleading to the public. I would suggest stating this fact to the pubic prior to original purchase. Hi..in response to instant checkmate letter to you...I totally understand about the premium access...my complaint is due to the fact that they falsely advertise free access for a number of days but fail to disclose that the whole site is not free..with basic..you cannot see anything.
They did reimburse me. I just wish now they would change their advertisement so other people don't get tricked into paying unwanted fees.
