a) Standard Membership Plans
Instant Checkmate offers three standard Membership Plans. All Membership Plans are billed up front for the entire term selected.
Standard Membership Plan with a 6-Month Term: For a standard 6-month Membership Plan, the debit or credit card or other payment account you provide will be billed $59.16 immediately upon purchase and $59.16 every 6 months thereafter, unless and until you cancel.
Standard Membership Plan with a 3-Month Term: For a standard 3-month Membership Plan, the debit or credit card or other payment account you provide will be billed $44.58 immediately upon purchase and $44.58 every 3 months thereafter, unless and until you cancel.
Standard Membership Plan with a 1-Month Term: For a standard 1-month Membership Plan, the debit or credit card or other payment account you provide will be billed $22.86 immediately upon purchase and $22.86 every month thereafter, unless and until you cancel.
If your payment for a full term is declined due to insufficient funds, Instant Checkmate reserves the right to bill in monthly installments based on the monthly rates associated with the Membership Plan you selected.
b) $1.00 Trial Membership
If you select a trial Membership Plan (“Trial Membership Plan”), you will be able to try a Membership Plan and its accompanying services for five (5) days from the date of purchase for only $1.00. If you select a Trial Membership Plan, the debit or credit card or other payment account you provide will be billed $1.00 immediately upon enrollment, and you will have five (5) days from the time of enrollment to try out Instant Checkmate’s Services under the Membership Plan. If you do not cancel your Trial Membership Plan before the expiration of the 5-day trial period, on the 6th day after you enroll, you will automatically be enrolled in a monthly Membership Plan and the card you provided at the time of enrollment in the Trial Membership Plan will be charged $29.63 immediately and $29.63 approximately every thirty (30) days thereafter, unless and until you cancel.
c) Nonstandard Membership Plans
Instant Checkmate sometimes offers promotional membership offers or the opportunity to purchase a single report or several reports for an identified price with no further obligation. If you enroll in a nonstandard Membership Plan, Instant Checkmate expressly reserves the right to bill you at the identified price and based on the terms disclosed at the time of you enroll.
d) Negative Option
BY SIGNING UP FOR A MEMBERSHIP PLAN, YOU AUTHORIZE INSTANT CHECKMATE (AND ITS PARTNERS, AFFILIATES AND/OR AGENTS) TO CHARGE YOUR DEBIT OR CREDIT CARD OR OTHER PAYMENT ACCOUNT THE FEES ASSOCIATED WITH THE MEMBERSHIP PLAN’S TERM, AND YOU ACKNOWLEDGE AND AGREE THAT INSTANT CHECKMATE WILL NOT OBTAIN ADDITIONAL AUTHORIZATION FROM YOU FOR EACH RECURRING FEE CHARGED TO YOUR DEBIT OR CREDIT CARD OR OTHER PAYMENT ACCOUNT. j) Billing Errors

k) Reversals and Chargebacks
Instant Checkmate considers charge backs and reversals as potential cases of fraudulent use of our Membership Plans and/or theft of Membership Plans and will be treated as such. Instant Checkmate reserves the right of filing a complaint with the appropriate local and federal authorities to investigate. Be advised that all activity and IP address information is being monitored and that this information may be used in a civil and/or criminal case(s) against a customer if there is fraudulent use and or theft of Membership Plans.

I'm very surprised that this company rates A- with an organization as reputable as Revdex.com. Instant Checkmate operates a classic bait-and-switch operation that promises complete background checks for a specific price. However, you can't just pay a one time fee for this information. You must pay a monthly subscription fee. When you discover they are worthless, you have to make a phone call to cancel your subscription. Cancellation on the website is not an option. As for the service: they produce some information in response to your inquiry (that's the bait), but will require additional payment for information that creates more expense for them. Problem is, the 'additional' information is the same as what you just saw on the previous screen (that's the switch). Lastly, the information provided is incomplete and/or inaccurate. When customers complain about inaccuracies, they respond with heartfelt apologies, saying that some states don't provide detailed information. That disclaimer does not appear in any of their advertising which assures you that they can provide full details on anyone/anywhere. They are not deserving of the Revdex.com rating they currently display and I am no longer as confident in the Revdex.com as I once was.

Our records show that Ms. [redacted] signed up for an Instant Checkmate membership in 2012 using the email address [redacted]. This account was cancelled the same year.
Our records also show that Ms. [redacted] created a second account in August 2014 using the email address [redacted]. In her rejection, Ms. [redacted] states that the account created in 2014 was on another site that we are not affiliated with. Perhaps Ms. [redacted] intended to sign up for the other site, but somehow signed up for Instant Checkmate instead.
Despite these stipulations, we have issued Ms. [redacted] a full refund of $47.71 per the request in her original complaint. This refund has been credited back to the card that was used to enroll in our services, and no further charges will be incurred.

I would never have agreed to an "auto enrollment" or what is also referred to as a "negative response agreement." The FCC also does not like these types of agreements. Furthermore, they are illegal in some states. This was not made sufficiently clear enough to me at onset of my agreement. Therefore, I refuse to agree to pay any additional payments beyond the first month. I expect to be fully reimbursed for all payments made beyond the first month.

The site provided the information I was looking for and I was satisfied until I just reviewed my bank account online. I signed up for a one month only account for a grand total of $22.86. I chose a few enhanced features when performing a search the same day (March 11th) and received email receipts for every single thing. Yet, received no email when they charged my account again on April 12th. I just called to see if they could refund my money and to stop further charges. Of course they helped cancel the account but said there is nothing they could do about the April 12th charge because there was a box I should have 'unclicked' when I signed up in March. What is the point of the "One Month Only" access if the system's default setting is to keep charging you? You cannot claim innocence when that is how you have the system set up - you are banking on people not checking the box. When I asked why I did not receive an email notification for the April 12th charge like I did when charges hit my account in March, they said it must have gone to spam. I check my spam folder everyday. Try again. I am the director of a Chamber of Commerce and you better believe I'll be letting my members know about this experience. I was actually really satisfied with the service in March until this happened. Way to take a pleased customer and turn them into an entity who will never do business with you again.
