I am rejecting this response because: the company told me to lie to fix the issue and the customer service for fixing the issue was not satisfactoryThe tax preparer regardless of her name did not fill in 12a and told me to lie to fix itThen management did not show up to my appointmentI was estimating the fee and that is accurate about the feeAll I'm asking for is a partial refund of the service feeIf this can't be accomplished I will be going to local *** news agency and reporting the experience

I have reviewed the offer and/or response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below
The cost was not broken down until days after we went there to do our taxes and paid the fee, when Mr *** went back to sign for the state taxes and pick up a copy of our return, which was not completed in personHe told them at that time we did not accept the $** credit towards next years' taxes because we will never have Jackson Hewitt prepare our taxes againPlus, they advertise simple federal returns for $**When we went to Jackson Hewitt on Feb 2017, the man who prepared our taxes only said that ** State would cost an extra $** before he started working on our taxes and did not tell us until we left that day what was the total cost, and at that point we had to pay since he had already worked on our taxesFurthermore, our state taxes were not able to be prepared that day, our information was left there, we had to follow up days later and it still wasn't ready (see timeline from my original complaint)I reached out to Jackson Hewitt corporate about this the same time I filed a Revdex.com complaint and have not yet heard back from themOur taxes were not prepared in a timely, efficient or truly professional manner, which is what we paid for - therefore, we are entitled to at least a partial refund

I am rejecting this response because:
On November 20, 2015, my vehicle with 30,documented miles driven was taken to your Valvoline station for an oil change? On January 6, and February 28, 2016, the check oil light came on and oil needed to be added? Since the car had been driven less than 3,miles during that time period and three quarts of oil were required, the car was taken back on March 3,to Valvoline where it was requested that an employee look at the oil to make sure there was not a problemThe employee snickered, got into the car, turned the engine on, pointed to the oil indicator gauge and said "ok, your oil's fine."? At 33,miles driven, the car was then taken to the dealership for an oil consumption test because of this falsely suspected oil usageI stress, an oil change was NEVER requested by the car owner nor was it ever the intention of the dealership service team to perform an oil changeThis is also clear by looking at the included receipt from this service department which states that the intent was diagnostics for a frequent check oil light? The mileage driven since the last oil change was only 2,milesAudi does not require an oil change until 7,miles!!!! I would never have my oil changed when I had driven less than 3,miles? On the work receipt by the Audi dealership which I have forwarded along with this complaint, you will read that the dealership certified mechanics wrote "found that the oil plug was damaged and had the WRONG washer on plug causing it to leak." The service department also included photos (which I have included) of this plug and washer and the damage done to the plug when it was last put onUsing proper parts and tools would not have resulted in that damageSince your store employees were the last people to touch these components, also documented in my auto log, the shoe does fit!? The $bill was for plug, oil drainage and refill necessary to change the plug, and oil pan cleanup from the leakage? Be honest about what the bill was for.I was called by Shaun S*** and threatened with a slander lawsuit if I did not take down my online reviews? I have every right as a consumer to share my experience in online reviewsThe $caused by Valvoline's poor workmanship is no longer a concern for me? Informing others of their dishonest business practice is more important.*** ***

On March 23, MrHamdi *** visited our Winston-Salem location for an oil change.? Upon completing the oil change Mr*** called back on the 24thand stated that his car was making a funny noise.? He brought his car to the shop and our manager and another employee inspected the
vehicle.? Mr***'s oil level was at the correct level and his drain plug and filter were not leakingMr*** was shown the oil level on his dipstickHe left our store and later called back and stated? that his car had stopped running? and he had to? have it towed.? One of our managers went over to *** *** where his vehicle had been towed and inspected the vehicle.? The vehicle's oil level was correct and the drain plug and oil filter were not leaking.? Our Area Manager? called the customer and stated that the mechanic at *** ***? stated that he did not think this was Valvoline's fault.? Our Manager specifically states that the vehicle came into the shop making engine noiseHespoke to the customer about the noise the car was making and he did not feel the oil change would help the issueMr*** came into our store with a preexisting issue with his engineHe states in his complaint that his car was in perfect shapeThat is not 100% truthful as his car with 189,miles came into our store knocking. We conducted an oil change, checked the drain plug for leaks, the oil filter for leaks and the? oil level at the initial oil change and the day afterThere was not a problem with our oil changeWe are a family run business and if we for one minute thought we were at fault we would take ownership of our mistake.?

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:Why would I return to a business that didn't treat me well at all and now refuses to make it right over $138. You advertise on the side of the kiosks that taxes are prepared for $49 which is a lie. You cant tell...

someone how much it will cost to prepare their taxes until the information is put into the computer and "prepared" at which case even if the price is disagreed with according to you the service has already been provided. No one ever goes to a business and gets part of what they paid for and finds out it was over priced and doesn't expect it to be made right by that business. The service is for tax preparation and filing taxes, only part of that service was completed and only after that part of the service was completed was I informed of the price, then when I wanted to back out I was informed the service had already been provided. That's like a mechanic fixing something on my car and being told about it afterwards and charged for it. It's not right and its not good business. Preparing taxes is useless if its not filed, like preparing a hamburger and then not being able to eat it. Why can't your company just admit it messed up when the appointment time was not upheld and then you had system issues and I was there for 4 hours and then the system went down and I said that's enough. I gave your company multiple chances, first when I wasn't called for my appointment at the scheduled time (2 hour wait), second when I had to wait another 2 hours for preparation for this so called service, third when it was over priced and not what the sign said, and the last straw was when the system went down. Plain and simple I'm going to continue this crusade until EVERYONE knows what a bad service this is (or lack there of) or until my dads money is refunded.
Sincerely,
[redacted]

We are sorry for what occurred with Ms. [redacted]' tax return.   We have done hundreds of the paystub advances without incident but unfortunately in this case, the file was marked incorrectly and the information was sent as a live return to the IRS and state.  We have told Ms. [redacted] that...

as soon as her funds return we will refund all the fees involved as long as she provides us with the actual W-2 forms.  If there is a variance between what we filed with the check stub and the results using the W-2, we will prepare free amended Federal and state returns.  There should not be any IRS penalty and interest because of the way the return was filed.  The only request that we cannot fulfill is advancing her the loan.  As she stated in her letter, our bank declined to give her an advance and there is no way to reverse that decision.

We apologize for the miscommunication, but since our fees were less than $100, under a promotion offering a $100 gift card, we would be paying customers to do their taxes. We would not be able to survive as a business under that model. The promotion requires a minimum $150 fee and this has been...

effectively communicated in our advertisements. As a middle ground, we could offer to do her tax return for free next year.

This is our response to [redacted]'s complaint.   We conducted an oil change for [redacted] on November the 20th, 2015. 137 days later on April the 5th, 2016  [redacted] contacted the store to inform us that we owed her for an oil change that she had conducted at another facility. [redacted]...

[redacted] states that we put the wrong drain plug and gasket on her vehicle and used vice grips to tighten the drain plug. We never have nor ever will use vice grips to tighten a drain plug. That is a completely false statement. The same drain plug that was on her car when she came in was placed back on her car when she left. Mrs. [redacted] has sent numerous text messages to our Area Manager stating the following."Hey. Check out your review on [redacted], [redacted], and [redacted]! Not done yet! " "See [redacted].com. Bad customer service and not doing the right thing will cost you much more than $87.13."  [redacted] states that she has very little mileage on her car. The technician at the dealership stated to us that she had driven enough miles to indeed have an oil change. We are a family run business and take customer service and customer retention very seriously. We have no idea if there was a problem with her car or not. We at this time are going to deny this claim and will not respond to any rebuttals by [redacted]. She has smeared our Area Manager's name all over the internet and made numerous unflattering comments about our business on numerous websites.    Shaun S[redacted] Valvoline Instant Oil Change [redacted]

[Your Answer Here]
I am not accepting this response.  Again it was their responsibility to inform me WHEN I ASKED HIM TO DO THE INSOLVENCY for any information he may feel he needed.  Jackson Hewitt had previously filed insolvency for me, which they have a record of, and that is what was requested this time.  He informed me, via phone, that I did not qualify for insolvency because the income is too high and I would have to ask the Dept of Education to change it to forgiveness. He said I will owe over $17,000.  First I wanted him to file an extension which he said was a waste of time an money because the dept of education are the ones that would have to revise this.  Since he is, I assume,  a licensed tax rep it is his responsibility to advise me.  If he tells me I do not qualify for insolvency how would I know I do??? That is his job and his responsibility. I should not have to be put in the position when I pay someone for a service of having to find a solution which ended up being what was requested and should have been done from the beginning.  I am the one that was harassed by the IRS and should not have been because he did not properly advise me or complete the proper return.  It was very simple once I was advised what to do and the Gov. office and the tax account that CORRECTED, my taxes both stated the taxes NEVER SHOULD HAVE BEEN FILED THE WAY THEY WERE.  Again that is his responsibility not mine.  As far as I am concerned he took advantage of me and misled me and did not properly complete the return. If I live on SSDI, which he knew because he had the tax form, and have no assets even if I didn't ask for insolvency he SHOULD HAVE ADVISEDD ME THAT WAS WHAT HAD TO BE FILED. He failed to do that.  That is his responsibility. I am still requesting a refund of my money. He should not be paid for doing the wrong thing and I am very frustrated when people take advantage of anyone let alone the elderly who depend on SSDI to survive.  No matter what he says he failed to complete the proper forms. He is the one that is suppose to know what to file. That is his job. He filed the wrong papers, not me. Its his job to know what to file and be right not wrong. He took advantage of me.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

Thank you.  I went into Jackson Hewitt because they previously completed an insolvency for me. I was recovering from a mastectomy and not well at the time.  I clearly stated that I wanted to file an insolvency because there were no assets and overwhelming debt. He called to and stated that because the income was so high he could not complete an insolvency and instructed me to contact the Dept of Education and request they re-do the form and forgive the debt.  He advised me that I owed over $17,000 because combined with my SSDI the income was extremely high and not taxed.  A insolvency could not be done according to him.  As I previously stated the IRS was after me for this money.  As a last resort I contacted [redacted] who gave clear instructions. Very simply file an insolvency and this debt would be cleared up.  I contacted another tax accountant who came very highly recommended and he stated that the taxes were not completed correctly. [redacted] states that I did not have any paperwork for an insolvency well there was none needed. Just a completed tax form.  If needed I could have proven there were no assets and over $100,000 worth of debt if he had asked when I asked him to do the insolvency.  Why would I go back to someone who did the return wrong. It is not my job to tell him the proper way to complete a return it is HIS job to know and request any documents he may feel is necessary, which he did not do.  He can say anything he wants verbally bottom  line HE SHOULD HAVE KNOWN THAT I QUALIFIED FOR AN INSOLVENCY AS A LICENSED TAX REPRESENTATIVE.   It was a very simple process and immediately accepted by the IRS without any further question or documentation.  He is very lucky I am not requesting more from him for the time and stress he caused me.  I also intend to lodge a complaint with [redacted]'s office and the State of New York.  I do not like being taken advantage of and he did not do his job.
Sincerely,
[redacted]

We would like an opportunity to review the taxpayers return with them if they are unsure it is correct.  We did prepare the return and the taxpayer agreed to pay the fees for the preparation.  There was no additional charge for the advance. The advance that the taxpayers applied for...

is provided by a 3rd party financial institution.  As with any loan/advance product, there is underwriting criteria that the financial institution bases their decision on.  Jackson Hewitt only provides the requested information to the financial institution.  If a customer is denied the advance, Jackson Hewitt has no information regarding the decision.  The customer should have been sent a disclosure statement from the financial institution regarding the status of their advance request. Jackson Hewitt Tax Service

I'm happy to tell you that the issue has been resolved!! It's taken over a year but the hundred $130 is paid back to the state of Colorado and I got my refund of what I paid to have my taxes done. Thank you!!

The consumer received the check.

Brad installed my sprinkle system just after my new home was built in spring of 2014. He & son Jared were great to work with & very please with job they did. I have recommended them to new neighbors.

Phone response - [redacted] asked us to provide a letter of indemnification, which was done by the loaning bank, and it was kicked back by [redacted]. Both of her refunds went into the correct account, it is odd that this loan did not, when the same accounts were on all paperwork. Unfortunately, there is...

nothing more we can do, as we did everything the credit union asked us to do to address the issue, and they will not provide any further information.

I had a bad experience with babbits. I placed a order for my sled of decals for the hood. After placing the order I received a email that some decals were discountined. So I called to cancel my order because you can't have half a sled with stickers. Upon calling , I cancled half my order and they told me they wouldn't charge me a restocking fee pre the customer service clerk. After thinking and pondering the order I called back to cancel the rest and I had very poor customer service in the phone. The lady was very rude , talking over me and not answering my questions. She never cancled the first part and proceed to charge me a restocking fee for the whole total. I never should have been charged money when I cancled a order and was told there was no fee. I will never order form this company again

In response to [redacted]' complaint, I would like to set the record straight.  Ms. [redacted]'s was correct that we incorrectly put in the wrong social security number when we filed her taxes.  But you have to understand, that we go off a customer's data sheet and sometimes the...

penmanship is not always ideal.  However, we accept blame here.  I spent a lot of time working with the IRS to get this resolved.  We did get it resolved and Ms. [redacted]'s should have received her refund.  What Ms. [redacted] hasn't mentioned is the fact that she got a free advance from us (no fees or interest on this advance).  Furthermore, we have not been paid for our services nor has she paid back the $750 free advance.  I tried calling her but she is not accepting our calls.  Also, given the delay this year with the IRS processing returns with refundable credits (which Ms. [redacted] had), we may have delayed her getting a refund by less than two weeks. Given that we have not been paid, there is not much I can do until she pays us. Thank you, [redacted], Franchisee of Jackson Hewitt

My office prepared a tax return for [redacted]. She present us with a 1099c for cancellation of debt. We prepared the tax return on the information provided. We were never asked at any time to prepare an insolvency. We were asked to prepare a tax return, and that is what my office did....

The client called and filed a complaint, and at that time was given the same information that I am presenting now. If that client presented us with insolvency papers after we did the return to correct the matter we would have completed an amended return for an additional charge, because her status had changed to insolvency from the time of preparation. She did not at any time ask us to prepare insolvency papers or do an amended return after she received that status. My office does not perform insolvency papers. We never advertised or were asked to perform this service. The receipt she received at time of preparation was for what we did and were aske d to do, a tax return nothing more and nothing less. We tried to call the client to explain, but she did not answer or respond. She filed two complaints with the corporate office and we responded to both and now are responding to this one. We are not bankruptcy attorneys, insolvency attorneys, case workers, or mediators.
