I am not accepting this response.  Again it was their responsibility to inform me WHEN I ASKED HIM TO DO THE INSOLVENCY for any information he may feel he needed.  Jackson Hewitt had previously filed insolvency for me, which they have a record of, and that is what was requested this time.  He informed me, via phone, that I did not qualify for insolvency because the income is too high and I would have to ask the Dept of Education to change it to forgiveness. He said I will owe over $17,000.  First I wanted him to file an extension which he said was a waste of time an money because the dept of education are the ones that would have to revise this.  Since he is, I assume,  a licensed tax rep it is his responsibility to advise me.  If he tells me I do not qualify for insolvency how would I know I do??? That is his job and his responsibility. I should not have to be put in the position when I pay someone for a service of having to find a solution which ended up being what was requested and should have been done from the beginning.  I am the one that was harassed by the IRS and should not have been because he did not properly advise me or complete the proper return.  It was very simple once I was advised what to do and the Gov. office and the tax account that CORRECTED, my taxes both stated the taxes NEVER SHOULD HAVE BEEN FILED THE WAY THEY WERE.  Again that is his responsibility not mine.  As far as I am concerned he took advantage of me and misled me and did not properly complete the return. If I live on SSDI, which he knew because he had the tax form, and have no assets even if I didn't ask for insolvency he SHOULD HAVE ADVISEDD ME THAT WAS WHAT HAD TO BE FILED. He failed to do that.  That is his responsibility. I am still requesting a refund of my money. He should not be paid for doing the wrong thing and I am very frustrated when people take advantage of anyone let alone the elderly who depend on SSDI to survive.  No matter what he says he failed to complete the proper forms. He is the one that is suppose to know what to file. That is his job. He filed the wrong papers, not me. Its his job to know what to file and be right not wrong. He took advantage of me.

on Banksville Road and she stated that she was completely satisfied with the service she received. Ms. [redacted] is a longtime client of Jackson Hewitt, so we were happy to have the opportunity to resolve the issue. In regard to the complaint with our supervisor Juanita, we have spoken with her and reinforced with her our commitment to work harder to empathize with the customer’s concern. We think that Ms. [redacted] went to her neighborhood office without confirming an appointment, and found it closed as all of our offices are not open that early in the tax season. It is our goal to guide the customer to the nearest open office. It may not always be the most convenient but it is sometimes unavoidable. We did sincerely apologize for the inconvenience to Ms. [redacted], and again, we found that she was completely satisfied. If you should have any further questions or comments, we would be glad to hear from you. Thank  YouNorma *. We moved into a new home 4 years ago and had [redacted] install our irrigation system. He did a fantastic job and we have recommended him to all of our friends and neighbors. As we have worked on our landscaping projects over the years we had [redacted] come out and make adjustments to the irrigation system and haven't had any issues with service or quality. We discovered that he also does outdoor lighting and hired him for that job as well so our home/landscaping looks even more amazing. We highly recommend Lumens Irrigation.

The address where we had our 2011 taxes done by Jackson Hewitt was [redacted]. Thank you. We are still not getting any help from them.

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/11/24) */
When we prepared the taxpayers return the taxpayer was informed about his refund and that filing a MFJ return would normally be better. The preparer showed the taxpayers both options and that depending if they receive the spouses refund the...

refunds would be different. When we did the amended the 1040x wanted to know how much refund they have received as of today which in this situation was just his original refund. The spouse as of this time had not received their refund so we just put his refund and explained that depending if she received hers the refund for the amended would be less. The taxpayers didn't understand that part correctly. Their was a misunderstanding in communication and we are sorry for any misunderstanding. The client didn't want to pay the extra money for the gold guarantee that would cover any mistake by the preparer. In this situation there was no mistake by the preparer just a misunderstanding between the client and preparer. We have refunded the clients both the original fees and the amended fees they paid to have their taxes filed. We have also said how sorry we were for any misunderstanding that came about during their tax preparations.

Once again my complaint us not being  properly understood. They continue to disregard  the fact I was lied to! I clearly asked the tax preparer if there was any chance we're could be denied. WITH CONFIDENCE SHE REPLIED NO, EITHER  $600 OR $750 WOULD BE THE AMOUNT.  Also I would like someone to go over it  once again as when I entered my information myself  the amount was higher. It took entirely too long to get a response only to not have my number one issue  addressed. As before with calling or message I keep getting generic answers or the run around, which only let's me know the company the not care and this happens more often than many may complain about.  Giving an answer to what I'm not addressing is not addressing or solving my issue. So again read and understand my issue before giving me a FAQ answer.

We would like an opportunity to review the taxpayers return with them if they are unsure it is correct.  We did prepare the return and the taxpayer agreed to pay the fees for the preparation.  There was no additional charge for the advance. The advance that the taxpayers applied for...

is provided by a 3rd party financial institution.  As with any loan/advance product, there is underwriting criteria that the financial institution bases their decision on.  Jackson Hewitt only provides the requested information to the financial institution.  If a customer is denied the advance, Jackson Hewitt has no information regarding the decision.  The customer should have been sent a disclosure statement from the financial institution regarding the status of their advance request. Jackson Hewitt Tax Service

We have made an appointment with the customers to come to our office to resolve this issue and review the tax return that was completed.

Review: My husband and I filed our taxes on Friday, Feb. 20, 2015. Our tax prep person really had no idea what she was doing, but kept assusing us that she did know what she was doing. Monday, Feb. 23 we recieved a phone call that our taxes we rejected due to the prep person putting in the wrong social secuity numbers for ny children. So I had to go back down to to have another lady fix the problem. Five weeks go by and no news about the taxes, I called the IRS myself and they said that the lady never filed my [redacted] that I clearly gave here. So I had to go back AGAIN to have another person fix this problem. They said they had to fax the IRS and wait until they recieved proof it went through (which could take a few days) and they would call me when they knew. They called me three days later and said that everything looked good. (That was March 25th, and still nothing online about my taxes even being filed.) It says we entered the wrong information and could not let us know about our taxes. So I called again today (April 8th) and they basically told me that ut was a waiting game, when they hear from the IRS they hear from them. Nothing to do in the mean time. I am beyind frustraded with these people. I basically paid $390 for no help, no reassurance that it was done right, and to find out after the taxes are done thay they do not stand behind their services. Then the lady had the nerve to tell me if they had to file additional papers they would have to charge me $50 a form (and that was their dicounted rate!) I want helpDesired Settlement: I want a FULL refund, and my tax return. I could have done it myself online for FREE, but wanted the guarante if ever audited. This is my first, and last time using this service. I have always used H&R block, block my husband insisted on this place.

[redacted] April 13, 2015 Complaint ID: [redacted] Dear [redacted]: Below is the response to the complaint made against Jackson Hewitt ax Service (ID#[redacted]): We are strongly committed to our customer satisfaction policy and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience the customer has had in the filing of her tax return. We had completed and transmitted to the IRS the customer’s tax return on Friday, February 20, 2015. During the interview process, the customer informed the tax preparer that she had recently married and changed her son’s last name to her married name with the Social Security Administration. The tax preparer advised the customer that it was very important to ensure the name change was finalized by the SSA or there would be a strong possibility that the return would be rejected by the SSA due to a last name/social security number mismatch. The customer insisted the name change was finalized with the SSA. On Saturday, February 21,2015 we received notification from the IRS that the return was rejected due to her son’s name/social security number mismatch. We had tried to contact the customer the same day without avail. We again called the customer on Monday, February 23, 2015 and customer came in to the office and submitted the correct information to us for reprocessing. We resubmitted the return to the IRS and received confirmation of acceptance of the tax return from the IRS on the same day (02/23/2014 at 1:47 pm). We did indeed process the form [redacted] form during the original interview process. Unfortunately, there were a vast number of returns being delayed by the IRS that included form [redacted] reporting due to the implementation complexities of the Affordable Care Act. At the customer’s request we did prepare an amended return on her behalf. We did NOT charge the customer for the preparation of the amended return. At the customer’s request we did fax the form [redacted] to the IRS. We did advised the customer to delay mailing the amended return until she received her original refund because the IRS usually self-corrects the customer’s refund when taking into account the final form [redacted] corrected amounts. We had also informed the customer that once the IRS accepts the tax return we, or anyone else who may have prepared the tax return, have no control as to when the IRS will release a taxpayer’s refund. We also informed her that the IRS corresponds directly with the individual taxpayer and that we would gladly review and advise them, free of charge, on any such issues that arise. We offer our customers, at no charge, copies of their tax documents and returns any time they may be in need of them. We realize it is frustrating when an expected taxpayer refund is being delayed by the IRS. Unfortunately the taxpayer is at the mercy of the IRS. In an effort to alleviate the customer’s frustration we can offer her a 30% discount on next year’s tax preparation fees. Respectfully submitted, [redacted] Franchise Office Manager Jackson Hewitt Tax Service [redacted] 724-527-1099

Review: [redacted] was my tax preparer at this location she rushed through my tax prep., answering questions of people walking past while doing my taxes and my her next appointment. This made me feel uncomfortable and not to have much faith. She charged me $350 to do a federal and state return for a single person with no kids and three w-2 in Pa. I called to complain and was ignored twice. Then I took my taxes to [redacted] because when I stopped in to ask this [redacted] if my local taxes were done for this amount of money she was very rude to me. When I took everything from my Jackson Hewitt package to [redacted] they said I was owed an additional $376 bc of my student loans which the people at jacksonhewitt had bc it was all in the same pack. When I called Jackson Hewitt again to inquire about this they told me my case was settled on February 19 and that I recieved a phone call and was explained everything this is false no phone was made to me nor did anyone from corporate speak to me. I'm extremely frustrated and feel this company is way over charging for poor quality and rude service. [redacted] would of done all this plus my local and not screwed me out of my student loan payment refund of the $376 for a mere $70. It's a no brainier which company knows how to treate a hardworking citizen. I now have to pay another $99 to amend my incorrect taxes through [redacted] to get my student loan payment back, $376, which I'm not blaming [redacted] I made the mistake of not going to them in the first place.Desired Settlement: I would like to get a partial refund of my original cost to file my taxes and I would like Jackson Hewitt to be held fully responsible for the $99 charge of [redacted] to file the amendment. I understand that I could take my taxes back to Jackson Hewitt and they could fix this for free but for me it's the principle that they couldn't do it right the first time so I don't want them doing it again I would rather have them pay for me to go elsewhere.

I have used Jackson Hewitt's tax preparation services for at least four years. I have never received such horrible services from them prior to this year. I chose Jackson Hewitt to prepare my taxes on 2/05/2016. I noticed the preparer seemed unsure of what she was doing. It took her several minutes to figure out how to finalize and submit my tax information after I gave it to her. I didn't think much of it. She processed my taxes without submitting any form of insurance, which was her first error. I had no idea that she wasn't supposed to do that because she said that I could bring the 1095-A health insurance information later. I turned the 1095-A form in on the following Tuesday, which was on 2/09/2016. The man took my paper and I informed him that I was turning in my healthcare information that needed to be faxed. My name and information was on the paper. He took the paper with no hesitation and I left the office. So, 21 days later I noticed that I haven't received any information from the IRS and haven't received my refund. I call the IRS and they inform me that no one turned in my 1095-A form! I contact Jackson Hewitt and find out that the man simply didn't send my 1095-A form in! On 2/27/16 an employee faxed the paper in without the control number, which resulted in me having to come back on 3/01/2016 so the could fax the correct information in! So this morning on 3/08/2016, I received a call from Jackson Hewitt saying that my taxes were garnished! I was devastated because of all the hassle I endured with them. So I called the IRS and they informed me that my taxes still haven't been processed and that the Jackson Hewitt employee gave me false information. I even contacted the [redacted] and they said I didn't owe anything. Later around 3:00 pm, I received a call from Jackson Hewitt once again! The lady said she meant to call and say that my funds were used for preparation fees. Is this a joke? I refuse to pay $300-$400 dollars of my hard earned money for terrible service.Product_Or_Service: Tax Preparation Desired SettlementI would like my services to be refunded. The preparers did not properly do their job.Business Response Our company prides itself on offering good customer service but it sounds like we failed this time. In our defense, the Obamacare provisions caused quite a bit of confusion for many clients and preparers. Still, our staff could have handled this situation (according to how Ms. Tate presented it) better than they did.We have reached out to Ms. Tate to offer a refund of her tax prep fees and a free return for next year. We apologize for her inconvenience.

Review: First and foremost I would like to say that this is by far the worst experience in providing customer service I have encountered with a CORPORATION. I signed up for the tax preparation class at the brooklyn location "[redacted]" that was expected to start September **, 2014. However when I arrived Sept. [redacted] I was introduced to [redacted] (Instructor) and was informed that the class wouldn't be in session until the following sat. because they were still trying to fill the class. However, I paid in full 150.00 dollar fee on 10/**/2014. That following sat. I showed up to class and a different instructor was there because our original instructor [redacted] didn't show up. The following sat. (Third sat.) I show up to class and the gate is down. No sign of an instructor. I called the HR number to find out about the class and they informed us that [redacted] has left for another job and was unable to show up and is no longer going to be our instructor. When we received an email via taxschool.com stating that their still would be class. Moving along, we get a new instructor [redacted], the following sat. However the fifth sat. into the class, it happens again. We get an email stating that [redacted] wouldn't be there for class but we would have a diff. instructor. However, I get there and once again, the gate is down and my fellow classmates and I are standing outside in the RAIN waiting. I call the HR number again and they stated that they called everyone the morning of to notify us that class was cancelled. Which was a LIE because I didn't receive a phone call and if they did, it was unprofessional to call the morning of class. Now as of last sat. Dec. *, 2014, we show up to class bright and early once again, the gate is down. I did receive an email via [redacted] from [redacted] on 10/**/2014 stating that she wouldn't make the dec. * class and that we would have a diff. instructor. However, we get there, the gate is down and we're outside in the rain once again. We call HR and the person who answers the phone goes "there isn't a brooklyn class" and someone in the background goes "yes it is" the instructor should be there she just left. Keep in mind its 10:30 am and class starts at 10 am. The instructor was coming from the BRONX. Why would they expect us to stay in the rain and wait for an instructor? Not to even mention the other unmentioned times that this same issue has occurred. I am extremely surprised that I would experience this with Jackson Hewitt. The staff clearly from the beginning were unorganized and not prepared for this class. If there wasn't going to be a full class or issues with instructors why even keep this class in session. I paid upfront money that I thought I would get the experience of a lifetime but instead I got bamboozled. This class was a waste and I would LOVE a refund. I will NOT be attending another class IF there is one and I don't even look forward to considering working for ** if this is how they run their business. I would LOVE for a FULL refund. Thanking you in advance.Desired Settlement: I would love my fee that I paid for the class.

Review: Jackson Hewitt, [redacted], was asked to file an insolvency for forgiven student loans tax form. He stated he could not and filed a return which indicated I owed over $17,000 in taxes. I contacted Gov Cuomo's office and was advised that I have to have an insolvency completed and send an amended return. Since I have no assets and live on SSDI nothing should be owed. I had a amended return done and the debt was cleared. I am requesting that the $84 I paid Jackson Hewitt be returned and the $125 it cost to have an amendment done be returned to me. I contacted the office that completed my return in writing and phone calls but did not receive any return call or response to my letter. I also contacted Jackson Hewitt corporate office and they filed a complaint number and keep stating the each office is individually owned and to contact them. I feel I am entitled to my money back. The stress this situation had caused was overwhelming because he did the wrong thing. All I am asking for is my money back.Desired Settlement: I am requesting the return of the fee Jackson Hewitt charged of $84 and the fee to have an amended return completed by J&D tax services of $125.

My office prepared a tax return for [redacted]. She present us with a 1099c for cancellation of debt. We prepared the tax return on the information provided. We were never asked at any time to prepare an insolvency. We were asked to prepare a tax return, and that is what my office did. The client called and filed a complaint, and at that time was given the same information that I am presenting now. If that client presented us with insolvency papers after we did the return to correct the matter we would have completed an amended return for an additional charge, because her status had changed to insolvency from the time of preparation. She did not at any time ask us to prepare insolvency papers or do an amended return after she received that status. My office does not perform insolvency papers. We never advertised or were asked to perform this service. The receipt she received at time of preparation was for what we did and were aske d to do, a tax return nothing more and nothing less. We tried to call the client to explain, but she did not answer or respond. She filed two complaints with the corporate office and we responded to both and now are responding to this one. We are not bankruptcy attorneys, insolvency attorneys, case workers, or mediators.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

Thank you. I went into Jackson Hewitt because they previously completed an insolvency for me. I was recovering from a mastectomy and not well at the time. I clearly stated that I wanted to file an insolvency because there were no assets and overwhelming debt. He called to and stated that because the income was so high he could not complete an insolvency and instructed me to contact the Dept of Education and request they re-do the form and forgive the debt. He advised me that I owed over $17,000 because combined with my SSDI the income was extremely high and not taxed. A insolvency could not be done according to him. As I previously stated the IRS was after me for this money. As a last resort I contacted [redacted] who gave clear instructions. Very simply file an insolvency and this debt would be cleared up. I contacted another tax accountant who came very highly recommended and he stated that the taxes were not completed correctly. [redacted] states that I did not have any paperwork for an insolvency well there was none needed. Just a completed tax form. If needed I could have proven there were no assets and over $100,000 worth of debt if he had asked when I asked him to do the insolvency. Why would I go back to someone who did the return wrong. It is not my job to tell him the proper way to complete a return it is HIS job to know and request any documents he may feel is necessary, which he did not do. He can say anything he wants verbally bottom line HE SHOULD HAVE KNOWN THAT I QUALIFIED FOR AN INSOLVENCY AS A LICENSED TAX REPRESENTATIVE. It was a very simple process and immediately accepted by the IRS without any further question or documentation. He is very lucky I am not requesting more from him for the time and stress he caused me. I also intend to lodge a complaint with [redacted]'s office and the State of New York. I do not like being taken advantage of and he did not do his job.

Sincerely,

Response:

I have explained what occurred when the client entered the office, and fully able to explain my position in any fourum. I will not answer statements that did not occur. I have responded to the matter and did what my office was paid to do. I have nothing to add to my original position.
