Lemon Squad Auto Inspections Reviews (%countItem)

Long story short... This happened a while ago so take what you will from my review. The lemon I bought still affects me to this day, almost 2 years later. No more than 2 weeks after buying my car from a private seller the check engine light started blinking. The check engine light was on at the time I bought the car, after being told no codes came up, I was too stupid to back out of the purchase. This was my first car purchase and it was miserable for a very long time. My lack of knowledge in cars and confidence in making my biggest purchase is just as responsible as Lemon squad from buying a lemon. Cylinder 3 was misfiring and the car didnt even have front brakes... The review said the brakes were fine. I could've died in an accident. The car I bought is a mazdaspeed3 and an f550 with a full load in the back will accelerate faster than my car. I still have screenshots of my review. It was written by someone with the writing level of a 5th grader. Barely using complete sentences and seemed to be doing the bare minimum... Pathetic. Again, I was too stupid too back out of the purchase, dont believe what a company or private seller tells you when it comes to buying a car. This was my experience with lemon squad. If you are buying a used car take my advice and have someone you actually know check out the car.

Very responsive. I placed an exotic car inspection order on a Saturday night. On Sunday morning, the inspection was scheduled for Monday morning (when the dealer would open). The inspector completed the report and uploaded it by Monday evening. By Tuesday morning, I downloaded the report and received a call from Lemon Squad to review the inspection. During the entire process, I was notified via email of the status and when to expect an update. My report was a 42-page document with high resolution photos similar to a thorough home inspection report. In addition, I received a detailed AutoCheck (Experian) vehicle history report and an appraisal of the true market value. All this detail provided me with the tools to negotiate the final sales price with the dealer. Outstanding service!

Very quick responses and turnaround on inspections. They worked directly with the seller to coordinate the inspection which made it very easy on me as the buyer. The report was very thorough and definitely was necessary prior to purchasing a vehicle!

The best decision we made in purchasing our used motorhome. Lemon Squad preformed a complete inspection with a detailed report and over a 300 hundred pictures. This inspection is equal to a home inspection and report and well worth ever dollar you spend on it. The service was awesome and so were all the team members. They took the time to answer all our questions that we had about the inspection. Way to go Lemon Squad!!

Terrible company. Hired them to do a PPI on a 1965 mustang. The review came back as A+ so I purchased the car. Had the car shipped and when it arrived was I shocked. Oil leaks, tranny leaks, power steering leaks, missing radio antenna, cheap components all around, chrome was scratched up, window frames were in poor shape, suspension was awful and unsafe, the car ran weak. I lost money on this and paid a premium for the car. When I contacted Lemon Squad they blew me off. Do not use them...….

Hi Ed - We did this inspection in August 2015. When you get in touch with us 3 and a half years after the inspection was done, there isn't much we can do. I'm sorry you are having issues but this is a vehicle that is over 50 years old. You need to be prepared for things to pop up unexpectedly. Unfortunately, since so much time has passed, I am unable to view your report. I wish you well with your vehicle in the future.

I reported my findings to Lemon Squad 3 days after taking delivery of the car. So many things wrong. They are as crooked as they come. Don't use them.

Excellent company! Had three inspections within the month......two were duds, the last vehicle was in good shape which I will be moving forward with. I am so happy they went to look at all of these vehicles because they saved me money in the long run with excessive repairs and dealers saying the vehicles are in awesome condition and they are NOT! Well worth the inspection fee!!! Do not take a chance.....USE THIS COMPANY!!! You will be happy you did! Will use again in the future! Thank you Lemon Squad!!!!

We had these 'pros' look over a 2010 Buick Enclave. While taking a good number of pics, they missed the bad lower ball joints and leaky struts. When we got that "great" inspection of such a "great" (in THEIR opinion) car, we made the deal, went to the owner and took it for a test drive ourselves, where we noticed a slight pull, but went with their reports findings and made the deal. in hindsight, we should've walked, but we figured it was due to the road conditions (construction).
We paid $8k for the car and just found out we now need to spend an additional TWO THOUSAND+ dollars for the needed repairs.
When we called the Lemon Squad, instead of admitting they are not 100% in what they do and how sorry they are, we heard a fancy dance about how this could've happened in the days after we bought the car, and basically, they are NOT responsible, period. If we want to take them to small claims, we'd have to file in Hennepin county, "only" 450 miles away.
They're NOT responsible?? then WHY did we go to them to inspect a car??
Instead, we'll just do reviews all over the USA, and hope to steer enough "targets" (customers like us) away from a "service" like these folks provide. Please know there are MANY people out there that provide this service, many are REALLY local (instead of subcontracting) and we're sure you'll find a better result by going with ANYONE but these people. A coin flip or oiuja board would be just as good as what we paid for, which was NOTHING. They should be ashamed of providing such a shoddy service, but I don't think shame or empathy is something they really understand. It cuts into their bottom line.

We are sorry you are having these issues. We did send out an ASE certified master mechanic to do the inspection and we didn't experience any of the issues you are having. You contacted us over a month after the inspection was done to let us know of the problems you were having. We do have a 14 day window where you can get a refund if there was something that was missed. When you contacted us, it was outside of that window. You told us when you called that you had been driving the vehicle on some very rough roads. It is possible that you caused this issue. We are here to report on the condition of the vehicle during our time with it. We don't know what is going to happen to it after we leave. You are not buying a new vehicle. Things can fail without warning. We with you luck.

He missed the repairs. I have been in the hospital about a week after your service, recently diagnosed with cancer. It sat in the driveway. I can provide ALL recipients to verify all dates, from the hospitalization, to the needed REPAIRS your 'certified" inspector missed, in case you think we're trying to get get one over on your 'fine' company.
You know, instead of using the usual tepid reasons why you do NOT owe us a refund for the missed repairs, why not be customer-centric and return the funds given to you with a genuine apology? I also have a radio show that allows me to discuss my story with many others. so if you'd like to participate, just ask.

I contracted this company to inspect a used car I wanted to purchase in a private sale. The company provided a detailed report of the car, and I negotiated a price based on the report the same day I received it. When I took possession of the car, I noticed some glaring issues with the front end., especially on the highway. When I brought the car to my local mechanic, he identified several issues, which wound up costing me thousands of dollars to repair in order to bring the car up to normal standards. These issues included a bent front axle, brake pads that were incorrectly installed, 4 struts needed, rear brakes needed and 2 bent wheels. Had the inspector done more than a basic check, these items would've been identified and I would not have proceeded with the sale. When I complained to Lemon Squad, I was told to take the matter up with the seller if I wasn't satisfied with the car.

When Mr. placed his order with us, he agreed to our terms and conditions. Those terms and conditions state that Lemon Squad's liability to the customer is up to the amount that the customer paid to have us do the inspection, $149.99. The photos of the vehicle contained in the inspection report do show that the hood of the vehicle was being held up by a baseball bat. The inspections that we perform do not include taking any pieces or parts off of the vehicle (as sellers wouldn't allow this anyway) and the vehicle is not put on a lift. These items are also in our terms and conditions. The brakes were tested on the test drive. We do not remove the wheels. The inspector checks for any abnormal noises or functionality during the test drive. The inspector noted nothing abnormal with the brakes during his time with the vehicle. If the brakes were installed incorrectly. the vehicle would have shown an issue. It is not abnormal to have a repair facility try to sell work on a vehicle that it may not need. I'm not saying that is the case in this instance however, we have seen that in the past. We did not sell the customer his vehicle. If he is having issues with the vehicle and looking for a partial refund, he would need to take that up with his seller.

Customer Response • Apr 05, 2019

I am rejecting this response because: the inspector should've identified the front end shimmy during the test drive and reported on it. I had test drove the vehicle the day before the inspection and it was present. It's shameful that I was charged $149 to have someone drive the car and take pictures.

Awesome doesn't begin to describe my experience with Lemon Squad. I was literally blown away by the thoroughness of the detailed inspection report. And 113 photos to boot!!! Kudos to Robert who performed my inspection on Long Island. I collect mint and pristine Nissan Xterras. The vehicle on Long Island was too far away for me to personally inspect. I had thought about buying sight unseen from the dealer photos and information..Good thing I didn't because the Lemon Squad inspection uncovered numerous cosmetic issues and more. . .

On 2/1/2019 I requested an service from lemon squad that wasn’t properly executed. More specifically, I hired them to do an inspection on a 2004 Cadillac Deville at a dealership (Drive Auto Sales) in Dearborn, Michigan. I paid them over 150 dollars and I was told a full inspection would be done including a road test. At the time of the inspection, I was in Phoenix, Arizona taking care of businesses. Unfortunately, I couldn’t be there to meet the representative of Lemon Squad but I trusted that the job would be taken care of. Preceding the inspection, I recieved a very misleading report. I was told the engine had no leaks, the brakes were proficient, there was little to moderate rust, and a road test was done. After receiving this report, I decided to purchase the car. When I took it to the autoshop to have new tires put on it, they refused my service due to the dangerous and poor condition the car was in. The enitre frame of the automobile is rotted out and has holes in it. The rotting is so bad that the bottom of the car has some water inside of the trunk. The brake pads were completely worn out and the engine has an extensive amount of leaks. No road was test was done on the automible and a few other things listed in the report was inaccurate. The picture I recieved from this company wasn’t even accurate. More than likely it wasn’t even my car in the pictures.

After receiving this information, I contacted lemon squad to see what could be done about this. Unfortunately, I was told there isn’t anything that this company could do to help me. I couldn’t be issue a refund nor could I receive and second inspection report that I could use against the deal ship that sold me this lemon. The level of unprofessional I experienced from this company was far too much. According to these reviews I see I’m not the only one who has experienced this.

This inspection was done on 2/1/19 on a 15 year old vehicle. According to the terms and conditions that the customer agreed to when he placed his order and multiple times throughout the inspection process, he has 14 days from the day that the inspection was done to let us know of any discrepancies and we can talk about a refund at that time. The customer first reached out to us on 3/20/19, well beyond the 14 day window that is in the terms and conditions. There are multiple pictures of the rust on the underside of the vehicle AND the report states that there are areas of mild to moderate rust to the underside of the vehicle. This vehicle was inspected in Michigan, an area that is known for snow and rust. Lemon Squad is a mobile inspection service. It does state on our website that because we are a mobile service, we do not put the vehicle on a lift. Pictures of the underside are provided to the customer in the report. If the customer is having issues with his vehicle, he needs to contact the company that sold him the vehicle. I've attached pictures of the underside rust. This complaint is almost 2 months from the inspection date.

I had them inspect a new car I was purchasing from a dealership. Their customer support chat was very helpful with my questions. I was happy with the amount of effort they put into the report and could tell from the odometer they drove the car.
One suggestion for others and Lemon Squad:
Lemon Squad will take your money before presenting any information about scheduling availability in your area on their website. I asked via chat and mine was 1-2 days so I proceeded. They were able to make it out the next day and get the inspection done. They also followed it up the day after with the report. Until they have estimates on their website if you're on a tight timeframe *definitelyask before ordering the report (because they don't allow cancellations).

I think I wasted $264 by hiring this company to inspect a used car. The inspector did not even notice the interior was leather/vinyl and not cloth. He also could not determine the brand or size of the tires, even though we all know it is clearly shown on each tire. Reported radio, gauges, heater and more as functional, but they aren't. So many other instances of total lack of quality inspection.
I don't think he even saw the car.
They should be embarrassed (again, my opinion). Customer Service was totally not service oriented and did not care (again, my opinion). If you use them, please note that you have been warned.

Lemon Squad Auto Inspections Response • Mar 19, 2019

Yes. The interior was leather/vinyl. The inspectors use a drop down menu and missed that one. You can tell in the pictures that the vehicle does in fact have leather/vinyl material. The tires are shown on the report and in the pictures as Street Commander at a size of 225/70R18. The radio, gauges and heat/AC all worked during his time with the vehicle. The inspector took 100 pictures of the vehicle and left a nice narrative of the vehicle, including the modifications and weather the modifications were stock to this year/model of the vehicle. The inspection on the vehicle was good. If you had questions on the report, you could've called us at any time. We are sorry that you aren't happy with your inspection. We wish you luck on your vehicle search.

I could not give any higher recommendation to this company and their service. Buying a car unseen from the other side of the Atlantic is a daunting prospect but having read their report on the first car I had assessed, I can see the years of heartache and mountain of money they have just saved me. A report from these guys is my passport to a peaceful mind in buying overseas. Thanks guys... btw the car really was lemon underneath the blue paintwork... good spot :)

Best $ 264.00 spent. I almost bought a 1960 Mercedes 190 SL from Ca, I saw it on ebay motors, along with 57 photos that made it look like a jem. Thanks to you guys and your thorough inspection I was able to see all the hidden imperfection that do not show in regular pictures. You guys saved me from buying a piece of junk. Thank you again.

I contacted this company and set up an inspection on a vehicle that I was considering for purchase. After going back and forth for 2 weeks I was told that my vehicle owner was beating around the bush and was not cooperating with their scheduling. I became disgusted and told them I no longer needed their services. They said they dont give refunds and that all they could do was postpone the inspection and use it for another one. I told them that was not my plan that I wanted to buy a new vehicle. I was then told that I could have my new vehicle inspected instead. At this point I realized I was in for a fight and that I needed to get help

Mr. placed his order through the website on 12/6/18 at 7:17 am. When Mr. placed his order and BEFORE he paid for the order, he was presented with our terms of service. Mr. clicked the box that said that he READ and AGREED to our terms and conditions. He HAS to click that he agrees to those or he can NOT make payment. Item number 7 of those terms and conditions states that once he makes payment, ALL SALES ARE FINAL. If we don't look at the vehicle, his order is put on hold and used as a credit that will never expire. His inspection can be used towards another inspection, anywhere in the US. Our inspector contacted the seller and was advised that the seller would only be available on Thursday, 12/13/18. An email was sent to Mr. to let him know of this scheduling. The inspector called the seller on the 13th to confirm the appointment and the seller stated that his grand daughter was sick and he was unable to show us the vehicle. We again notified Mr. via email to let him know of the rescheduling. It was at this time that the seller advised the inspector that the vehicle was located at a different address. Mr. was contacted by the Lemon Squad office and asked to contact the seller to make sure that he was still willing to show us the vehicle. At that time, 12/13/18 at 3:01 pm, Mr. was AGAIN advised that Lemon Squad does not offer refunds. Mr. called back and demanded a refund and said that if we didn't give him a refund, he would be filing a complaint with the Revdex.com. He was advised of our policy BEFORE he first made payment, when he logged into his account on 12/6/18 at 8:09am, and AGAIN when he called on 12/13/18 at 3:01 pm. I can't believe that he would be surprised of our policy when he agreed to it twice, and was advised of it over the phone before he filed his Revdex.com complaint. We will not be refunding him or offering a refund or an apology.

After reading their T's&C's, on Dec 12 I phoned Lemonsquad to inquire about their availability to inspect a vehicle located in NH. Since their terms indicate that no refunds are issued at customer request, I verified that they could do the inspection on site and verified the date commitment of Dec 14. Because of their commitment to do the inspection on Dec 14th, I placed the order. (I have a confirming email indicating the Dec 14 the date.) After no inspector showed up after 5PM on Dec 14th, and no call or other notice was received by me or the car owner, I contacted Lemonsquad via online chat (Transcript available) and phone. They first tried the ,"the inspector is on the way..must be running late" approach, but I asked that they contact the inspector and figure out what was happening. During this time, my seller was contacted by the inspector, who said he would be there Monday. The car will be sold to someone else by then. And, I don't need another car inspected, thanks.

Short summary, LS made an informed commitment to specifically perform prior to my purchase. (Other companies were unable to do this inspection before Friday, but they admitted it and did not take my money. One actually took my money, then called back later after checking and found they could not, then promptly refunded my money.) LS specifically told me that they could do the inspection. (Email below.) I agreed to pay solely based on their commitment. They did not meet that commitment, and now refuse to refund my money. Fraud in the Inducement, if I chose to be impolite.

Lemon Squad Auto Inspections Response • Dec 18, 2018

- Your inspection was delayed due to the inspector encountering heavy traffic, which delayed the inspection until Monday. Unfortunately, we are unable to control the traffic. Delays can happen. The inspection was done yesterday, as per the ETA, and the report will be reviewed and made available to you this morning, as per our website. Maybe instead of filing a complaint with the Revdex.com, you could've called us to ask the status. Your report will be ready for you to view shortly. We request that should you need pre-purchase services in the future that you contact a different provider.

In the past 3 months I've had Lemon Squad inspect two classic cars for me at dealers. The resulting inspections were very thorough and the inspectors very knowledgeable. In both cases because of the long travel distance they allowed me to make informed decisions and be my boots on the ground. In the long run they saved me time and money and were fast, professional, and courteous. I will use the again.

Lemon Squad inspector in Boise Idaho area probably did not drive the auto as required in the inspection criteria. If driven 5 to 10 miles as per the contract, report should have included several issues that may have allowed purchase price to be modified or it may have changed my purchase decision. This was the purpose for the inspection. First, speedometer bounces erratically when car is driven and odometer does not increment. Report showed that "all gages work" properly. Second, there was noise in the rear end when car was driven and report said that there were "no unusual noises". Noises from rear axle splines and a loose muffler baffle were only heard when vehicle was driven. Cost to fix these was almost $1000. Third, if the car was driven, inspector should have noticed a chip in the windscreen directly in front of the driver. Since windshield is the only glass on the vehicle and no issues with glass were noted, inspector probably didn't sit in the driver's seat. Inspector also only provided about half as many pictures as were to be included in the report. My biggest concern however is that Lemon Squad did not offer any help or support when I attempted to present these issues to them. I only ask that they evaluate and possibly decertify the inspector. When I called and explained my issues, I was referred to a supervisor who did not return my call. Concerns were put into writing in an email and no response was received. I did not sent my comments by certified mail as it seemed to be spending good money for no perceived benefit. Follow up calls and emails have not receive any responses! Very poor customer service followed a less than thorough inspection. Initial concern was with inspector, but poor service is pervasive through the entire company per this experience. Do NOT use Lemon Squad.

Well l don't do alot of these review comments, but l just have to in this particular case. Andy from The Lemon Squad and his whole team were phenomenal in their response time to following up with my inspection request, to doing the inspection (literally the very next day), to the personalize service that l recvd from him (Andy the owner) reporting the findings of their work. I was all geard up to purchase an out of State vehicle when l was advised to use this service since me seeing the car prior to purchase was really next to impossible. Andy and his team got out the next morning after l did the online inspection request and found all the little hidden issues that the car has that of course were NOT mention to me in all of my conversations with the dealer. So let me say a very grateful thank you to Andy and the entire Lemon Squad for their thoroughness and professionalism. I am SOOOO glad that l paid the fee to have their input into what would have ended up costing me hundreds if not thousands of dollars in future repairs that l am now convinced l would've been duped into purchasing in that car. I am walking away..... Thanks again Andy, and thanks Lemon Squad for saving my bacon on that deal. Your Service fee was very nearly the best money that l've ever spent!!!

I had never bought a car from the internet before, so I thought it would be a good idea to have it inspected before I drive 6 hours to test drive the car I was considering for purchase. I called Lemon Squad and got Denise and Regan on the phone. Both were extremely helpful. The inspection was very thorough and the report was easy to read and very helpful. There was an issue or two with the car and it needed to be put up on a rack and have a deeper look. For $30, the technicial went back out and looked. I am waiting on the second report, but this service (Lemon Squad) provides is extremely cost effective, easy to use, and thorough. I have already recommended this to a friend who will use them for a car in Texas.
