Lemon Squad Auto Inspections Reviews (%countItem)

This was my first time using the service and my first purchase from afar. Lemon Squad completed the inspection quickly and provided a thorough report with plenty of pictures of every last (tiny) detail! This report helped make the dealership aware of issues not disclosed to them (or me) by the previous owner; which assisted in my decision of (unplanned) additional out of pocket expense, and proved helpful in the final price negotiations. More importantly, while I was there signing my purchase contract, I witnessed another customer who had unfortunately experienced problems with her purchase. I felt reassured knowing that my car had been inspected by a professional!! This is a service I would recommend using even when buying a car locally. Great investment of time and money, thank you for this service! One additional note...they even help locate reputable and reasonably priced transport services if you need to ship the car.

Unfortunately, my experience with this company was very negative. Their policy is, an inspector goes out the day after payment, and provides the report on the morning of the second day. Basically, 2 days before you get your report. I had a shipper on-hold waiting for the go-ahead from me which depended on the report results. After paying for the Inspection I told Lemon Squad that I had a shipper waiting. On the following day - the day of the Inspection, I call Lemon Squad and asked if I could pay a premium price to move my Inspection appointment to earlier in the day. They said 'No!'. I then called the seller and asked him to text me the minute the Inspection was completed. He then told me the Inspection was done the previous day! Obviously none of the Lemon Squad staff was aware of this. I was perturbed because that meant I could have shipped the car the previous day! A major communications problem. Then, when I accessed my report - I didn't recognize it because the photo on the cover was NOT my car. I assumed they made a mistake and sent me the wrong report. When I called Lemon Squad to ask about it they switched me to Andy D (owner). When I told Andy D. the photo was not of my car, he first insisted that it was! I had to argue with him to convicne him that I knew what my vehicle looked like. It was the right color, but not the right Model or year! Andy D. then confessed that he had resorted to Google to find a photo (????), and he had simply pasted it on the cover of my report. This struck me as irresponsible and slightly unethical - since part of their service is to provide photos of the ACTUAL VEHICLE being inspected. Also, in the report there was no photo of the front of the car I was buying (which is probably why Andy D. resorted to Googling the Internet for a photo. Very unprofessional...the kind of tactic I was paying Lemon Squad to AVOID. to do. I reiterated to Andy D. this was precisely my reason for using a 3rd party inspection service - to get an accurate and reliable pre-purchase audit on what I was buying. Overall, IMHO, Lemon Squad management is unprofessional and very disorganized which creates numerous communications (internal and external) problems. Yet when I called to convey my user experience and the many issues I'd encountered with their firm, Andy D. was instantly defensive and constantly interrupted me so that I couldn't complete a sentence. When I asked why the inspector hadn't provided a single photo of the front of the vehicle, he argued that the dealer told the inspector they had previously sent me some photos. I told Andy D. that photos were Lemon Squad's obligation - not the used car dealer's - and besides...I had PAID for that privilege. Andy D. then got angry and hung up on me. Obviously I'll never use Lemon Squad again.

Lemon Squad Auto Inspections Response

Customer placed his order yesterday morning at 10:00 am. The inspection was scheduled for today, 9/6 but the inspector was able to fit it in yesterday 9/5. As it states on our website, reports go out the morning after the inspection was completed. This customer received his report this morning, right on target for our normal turn around time. We do have a FAQ about why you shouldn't be scheduling transport until after you see your report due to unexpected delays that can sometimes happen. In this instance, we did the inspection sooner than we said. I'm not sure why Mr. S is complaining about the inspection being done earlier than stated, especially if he had arranged for transport. Out of the 131 pictures the inspector uploaded, one image was incorrect. That image was removed. When you are dealing with taking hundreds of pictures a day, this sort of thing can happen. Mr. S was more concerned about complaining than he was with the facts of the vehicle. The reason why he didn't have a very good experience is because he is not a good customer. He called and yelled at one of our employees before we even had gotten the report over to him. Due to Mr. S's actions abuse of our employees, we will NOT allow him to use our service again.

Customer Response

Lemon Squad has disputed my statements. But whoever responded to my review was not being truthful. First, I am an aerospace engineer, and am not prone to verbal outbursts, or yelling at the subordinates of an organization when I encounter a problem. I do not even use foul language - at all. I am not an emotional person. Concerning my supposed preoccupation with 'other' issues rather than getting accurate information about the status of my inspection, this is not true. Timing was important to me because of the shipping logistics. I missed getting my Jaguar out of Florida by one day. If anyone at Lemon Squad had KNOWN that my inspection had been completed a day earlier, then I could have shipped it. But Lemon Squad was not even aware of the status of their employees work. The fact is, every aspect of Lemon Squad's operation revealed major flaws which impacted my user experience negatively. Even the dealer I was purchasing my Jag from complained to me in a text message how the Lemon Squad Inspector had confirmed an appointment schedule with them, but then suddenly surprised everyone and just showed up unexpectedly. Not very professional. Also, after the owner, Andy Dread my review - he called me and cursed me out using vile, filthy language. However, I remained calm, and simply hung up. He then immediately tried to call me back repeatedly using alternate phone numbers. I had no alternative but to block them all. IMHO, Andy D. is a very crude and vulgar individual. Finally, if anyone doubts my experience, please visit yelp.com and read the many negative reviews of former Lemon Squad customers. I wish I had.

I have used the Lemon Squad for several years, and they have been Outstanding!
Well worth the Cost. Save a lot of MONEY & TIME!!

I used lemon squad for an auto eBay auction vehicle. Luckily the state of north carolina had a mandatory inspection law for reasons just like this. The vehicle I purchased was a vehicle with a clean title but a flood badge attached to it. If it wasn't for lemon squad I would have purchased a vehicle that had been submerged for days a year prior. It had no miles and was in perfect condition. Lemon squad noticed interior had been removed and car had been dried out. The ad for this vehicle said it was in 3-4 inches of water and come to find out after lemon squads incredibly thorough inspection and more research this car had been sitting in 3-4 feet of flooded water. Lemon squad found nothing wrong with car and due to their experience and attention to detail I saved myself 42k and possibly my family's lives due to electrical malfunction down the road. I would most definitely use lemon squad for all future purchases even if it is not required by state. Thank you Lemon Squad, I am forever grateful!!

Hi Casey! I'm glad we were able to help you out! Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We look forward to working with you again in the future!

Five Stars! I had my eye on a 1970 Mach 1 from another state. I was not able to view it in person and there was some urgency to get my deal made before someone else did. Lemon Squad made an effort to inspect the car immediately.
The results came back and it turns out the $35,000 car I almost purchased was worth $5,000 when accounting for the corrosion on the underside and the filler on the sheet metal. They found a detailed laundry list of other issues and even found where attempts were made to hide rust and corrosion.
Instead of waiting until Monday, I received a phone call from Lemon Squad owner Andy on a Saturday to explain the findings in the report in further detail. Speaking of the report and photographs, they were very detailed. Having our heart set on a dream car and finding out it isn't the one can be very disappointing. When Andy and I spoke, he was very honest and detailed, but he was also spoke in a way that was sensitive to this.
I read some of the complaints about this company, and I can't speak for anyone else's experiences, but I would caution people to be prepared for honest feedback on the vehicle being inspected. They are so detailed, I can see someone possibly directing their frustration toward Lemon Squad instead of the person selling the car.
Thought I am disappointed this vehicle did not turn out to be the one, I am thankful I did not buy something that needs a frame off restoration to be a reliable car. I trust Andy and his team and I will continue using them to search for my dream car and for future purchases as well.

Lemon Squad was amazing! I live in Jacksonville Florida and WAS going to purchase a vehicle in South Florida. Andy took the time to call me after the inspection to let me know that I shouldn't buy the car, he saved me thousands of dollars on a vehicle that would probably run for two weeks (if lucky) and would start to break down (major engine and transmission leaks, and computer cleared of codes before Andy got there). I appreciate his honesty (unlike the car dealership trying to sell me the car). I don't understand any of the bad reviews on Revdex.com. From the first time I called to get information, to recently when I phoned in my order I was treated courteously and was informed by true professionals what to expect from the inspection. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Lemon Squad states on their website, under FAQ, that they inspect all vehicles for smoke damage, including cigarette smoke. I utilized Lemon Squad's services to inspect a vehicle in California before purchasing. After I paid for their services the company sent out Mike who inspected the vehicle and issued a report detailing the condition of the car. The report indicated the car did not have any cigarette use. After I read the report's details I decided to purchase the car. Upon arrival of my new vehicle I opened the door, and noticed the car was clearly owned by a smoker. You could smell it, and see remnants of cigarette ashes. I spoke with the seller of the vehicle who stated the inspector, Mike, never questioned him about cigarette use in the vehicle. The seller also stated the vehicle was never cleaned after the inspection. I spoke with Andy, a representative of the company who told me the vehicle did not smell like smoke during the inspection. The problem is that the inspector failed to determine if the vehicle was previously owned by a smoker by not asking the seller. I paid the company to determine this, and they failed to do so. I would not have bought the car if the report accurately depicted the condition of the car.

We have a FAQ on our website about this. It reads as follows: Do you check for cigarette smoke? Yes. Cigarette Smoke odors can be hidden by sneaky sellers who use special chemicals that can make the vehicle smell like it has never been smoked in. Even if the inspector doesn't smell it during the inspection, the odor will likely return and return with a vengeance. If we say it doesn't smell like smoke and it does when you get the vehicle, this is why. Customer called us to tell us that he had just taken possession of the vehicle and it smelled badly of cigarette smoke. He accused us of not checking for that. We called the inspector and asked him if the vehicle smelled either like smoke or like chemicals from cleaning and he said it smelled like neither. When he got there to do the inspection, the vehicle was pulled out and ready for him to inspect with the windows down. This vehicle was shipped across the country to this customer and very likely baked in the sun on the back of a truck. That would be prime conditions for that smell to come back. This is not something that we missed. This is exactly what we describe that can happen in the FAQs. We have even spoken with this customer and sent him some ideas on what he can do to help to get rid of the smell. Unfortunately, he felt it was necessary to file a complaint against us. We wish him well with his vehicle and hope he can get that smell out.

I contracted with Lemon squad about an RV inspection. They ran the report and came back saying it was a great vehicle, Because of family issues we were not able to use the motor home for 5 weeks after purchase when we complained to Lemon squad. We voiced our issues to them and here is how they replied. "I spoke with the inspector earlier and even though we did this inspection over a month ago, he did still remember the unit. I read all of your concerns to him and this is what he said about them. The seller did turn the generator on for the inspector to prove that it worked. The seller let it run for about a minute and it ran strong with no issues. There were also 130 hours on the generator so he had no reason to think that it didn't work. The seller didn't open the awning for the inspector. The inspector looked all over the interior and exterior for any abnormal bulges and didn't see anything like that. He said that the interior was cleaned up very well and he saw nothing that was a concern. For the year and mileage, it had what he expected as normal wear. He did check the fridge and it was slightly cold but being that it wasn't currently being used, we would have no idea how cold iit would get on either setting. Sellers should have it running overnight so it is fully cold for us when we arrive but never do. It takes quite a while for it to get fully cold. We do not inspect the spare tire. We do have a 14 day policy after the inspection is done that you are able to get a refund on the price you paid for the inspection, but now we are going on two months since we looked at it. You should call your seller and tell him about the issues that bother you and see if he’s help you with them. With RVs, keep in mind that things can fail suddenly and unexpectedly. It is something that is unfortunate but typical with owning an RV. Have a great day.
It is a shame to rely on a company, spend $40,000 on a vehicle it will now cost $15,000 to repair

Ms. initially placed her order on 5/11/17. We did the inspection on 5/13/17 and the report was available for her that same day. She reached out to us on 6/19/17, over a month later, to let us know that she was having an issue with her RV. We let her know that the terms and conditions she agreed to when she placed the order show that she has 14 days from the time she received her report to let us know of any discrepancies and we could talk about a refund as long as it was within that 14 day window. Unfortunately, she waited beyond the 14 day window to let us know there was a problem. Then she waited another month and filed a complaint with the Revdex.com. At this point, it has been 60 days since the inspection was completed. If Ms. had reached out to us within that 14 day window instead of waiting a month, we would have been better able to help her out. The issues she says she is having are not issues that the inspector encountered during his inspection. This is typically the case with any used vehicle, especially a used RV. They just aren’t made that well and you need to be prepared to address items that can fail at any given time without warning.

Customer Response

I am rejecting this response because: on June 19 we spoke and then wrote to Lemonsquad "We are so upset. We
bought our first motor home with your inspector's approval. First the generator will only work for 90
seconds, second the awning has a hole in it, 3rd the linoleum is peeling and
there are cuts in the hall kitchen and bathroom, 4th the interior back wall is
delaminating and there is a large bulge in the bedroom wall and it is
separating from the wall, the right front exterior panel is delaminated and
bulging, as is the back exterior wall, 5th the refrigerator will not run on
propane and 6th the spare tire which was easily located was never
inspected. Our hearts are broken. It will cost us thousands of dollars to fix
these repairs. We relied on your company
to help us buy a reliable worry free vehicle.
Please help us."They responded this way to us "Hi *** - I spoke
with the inspector earlier and even though we did this inspection over a month
ago, he did still remember the unit. I read all of your concerns to him and
this is what he said about them. The seller did turn the generator on for the
inspector to prove that it worked. The seller let it run for about a minute and

With RVs, keep in mind that things can fail suddenly and unexpectedly. It is
something that is unfortunate but typical with owning an RV. Have a great day."We bought Lemonsquad's services because we did not want to purchase a lemon. We responded to them in 5 weeks as I was in the middle of planning my son's wedding and in the middle of that time my brother died. We did not have time to test out the motorhome until the wedding and funeral were over and we returned home on June 12. The report we were sent on said the generator would work and it did not. We have since got it repaired for $700. Although we discovered the awning has a hole in it the report said it was in good condition. There are 3 spots on the motorhome that are delaminating for which we got a quote that said it would cost over $15,000 to fix. Delamination takes months to develop, certainly not 5 weeks. A body shop person told us that even someone who was an inexperienced mechanic would have spotted the delamination. We have fixed the refrigerator. This company advertises that buying its services will save one from buying a lemon. Their company sold us a report that said it was not a lemon when clearly it was a lemon. Shame on them. I
