Lemon Squad Auto Inspections Reviews (%countItem)

I have utilized this company twice in the last 90 days and have to speak very highly of their operation. Courteous, efficient, and very professional experience. I would recommend anyone in the market to purchase a big ticket item, particularly a vehicle in any shape of form to utilize this company and its services. Both times I've used them I have received top notch help and service. I will be using them again soon to find my dream automobile.

I relied on your expertise of hiring a professional person to inspect an out of state vehicle. From the actual report : The car arrived June 1 but was not driveable. As soon as I started it up the engine stalled, the check engine light came on, the SMT warning light came on. I immediately took the car to a nearby garage. They had it 9 days but never got the opportunity to look at it. So. I take it to the Toyota dealership. They hook up the scanner and found 3 codes P1646 --> Transmission control ECU malfunction
P0860 --> Gear shift module communications circuit
P0191 —>Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit Range/Performance
The shift actuator was leaking and needed to be replaced -Cost: 4835.00
The inspection was completed May 24th or 25th, but Because we were buying several states away and the car had to be shipped, we didn’t receive the car until June 1st. The 1st garage had the car until June 14th and never looked at it so we didn’t know what was even wrong until the Toyota dealership looked at it on the 14th. We contacted Lemon Squad about the issues and received this response :
No one asked LS to fix it- we simply want a refund.

Response received via Revdex.com Customer Review (customer submitted both complaint *andreview -- taking business response provided in review and transferring it over to consumer complaint):

I’m sorry you are having an issue with your vehicle. Our inspector Stanley is an ASE certified Master tech who has been with us for many years. He is very competent and would have caught any issues with the vehicle had they happened while he was with the vehicle. As you can see in picture 83, the vehicle is running and this picture of the dash shows no check engine lights or any other warning lights on. The inspector also hooked up his computer and checked for codes, there were none, as stared in your report. The vehicle drove with no issues during our time with it. We did this inspection on May 24. It is now June 22. Many things can change with a vehicle in a month's time. As you stated in your own words, the vehicle drove beautifully when you first drove it. It did for us as well. We do our best with these inspections and we do a great job, but we have no crystal ball to see things that can fail without warning. This is an issue you need to take up with your seller. We are not an extended warranty company and we do not fix peoples cars. We are a company that helps people reduce their risk in buying a used vehicle. We keep people from buying bad cars every day. We also help people make good decisions on buying good cars every day. Remember, used cars can fail without warning. This is a vehicle that is 13 years old. We cannot control that and cannot see failures before they happen. We wish you luck.

I am rejecting this response because:
That car has not been driven since the inspection. It been in the shop from almost the moment I received it & I have documentation to prove it

Most of these positive reviews are FAKE they are posted in bunches on consecutive dates notice hardly any mention what type of car was inspected. This company is a SCAM

LemonSquad is a pleasure to deal with and having them inspect a car for me was some of the best money I've spent! I ordered an inspection late on a Wednesday and by Friday morning, I had a wonderfully detailed report with pics, all issues identified and an appraised value that saved me at least $4k on a car I was considering. I shopped around for a company to look at several classics I was considering. They're prices are better and an absolutr value. They will be my go-to as I continue my search for one of several classic cars.

This is my second time I used lemon squard, and I can not say enough great things about them, being from NYC very very hard took get someone to look check out a car for you and can trust them ,the people from lemon squared are so Sufficient and Completely thorough I hope took use them again and again

I used Lemon Squad for a pre-purchase inspection on a 2014 BMW 535i about 200 miles away from my home. The inspection was completed in a timely manner and all my specific requests were honored. All the pics were representative of the vehicle and the notes were helpful in my decision making. Great value and Andy even gave me a courtesy call after the inspection to go over some things with me and give me some advice on items to pay attention to. Would recommend them to anyone I know and certainly use them again for a pre-purchase inspection.

A prospective purchaser of my motor home asked me to arrange for an inspection and suggested that I contact Lemon Squad. Since I had no experience with Lemon Squad I approached this with some trepidation. The process turned out to be very professional from the initial contact with Regan to the inspection done by Chris. Chris spent an hour and a half documenting his inspection with photos and provided a well written report that I believe fairly represented my coach. It could probably have been done with 100 fewer photos, 320 seems like a lot. He was well prepared and had done significant research to be sure that safety recalls had been completed, checked areas where neglectful maintenance could show up, etc. If I were to buy or sell a vehicle in the future, I would use Lemon Squad and highly recommend their services.

Lemon squad did a great job looking at a car for out of state buyer. Coming from MN and tried to buy a car in Denver, Colorado, I put a request online the night before but they were able to get it inspected the next day. I bought a ticket at that point so I needed them to give some feedback quick. The owner of company personally took care of me after the inspection was done to give accurate inspection report and evaluation. Inspector at Denver was good! Great job handling urgent request and will do business again.

I had a very positive experience with Lemon Squad when they recently inspected a car for me that was over 1,000 miles away from my home. The report was incredibly detailed, honest and thoughtful. I then received a call from Andy, the owner of the company, who kindly walked me through the full report and helped to advise me on next steps. This feels like a great, honest family-run business and I'll use them again when looking at cars.

Lemon Squad provided a great service to me. I was purchasing a used vehicle for my daughter from out of state where she is going to school. The website was easy to use and order the service. The inspection was conducted the next business day. The reports are very thorough and provided by the next day. They actually helped me avoid the first vehicle I was considering -- as the vehicle had more body damage than I could see from the dealer provided pictures. I ordered the service again on a second vehicle. Everything worked out great. In fact I had the report the same day the inspection was conducted. I also had a question for the inspector. I contacted Lemon Squad and the owner called me back to respond to my question. A great service that I highly recommend. Don't buy a used car without getting an independent inspection. I am very pleased with Lemon Squad!

I just started using this service for a used car. The information is detailed and the service is prompt. Saved me from buying a car that had lots of rust painted over it. A great value.

Don't use this company, they inspected my RV last year and missed a slide out that had water damage that they had missed, got it home and didn't find it till after I had let it set for over a month. I called and told me that the two weeks had expired that they could do anything about it.

We did this inspection in February 2018, not last year. It is now May 2018. Looking over your report, picture 25 clearly shows the issue you are talking about. The reason we put on the bottom of every summary "please see below and pictures for more info" is so our customers will look those pictures over very carefully for the issues we are trying to show them. We clearly notified you of this issue, as the picture shows, and you waited 3 months to let us know. You should have called us after viewing your report if you had any questions about anything in the report. We are sorry that you overlooked this issue when reviewing your report. This is not something that was missed by us, it is in the report.

Customer Response • May 10, 2018

You inspector didn't put in the report like he was suppose too, so he was in the wrong. The picture didn't show me nothing sense I don't know how it's suppose to be. You company did wrong now take responsibility for what he did. Stop blaming me for your company's mistake.

Lemon Squad did not provide a service or a refund to me, despite promising to do so. They provide an auto inspection service, and communicate only via online chat, or by phone, with no documentation or invoice supplied or hard copy. On 2/21/18 I ordered an auto inspection service via Lemon Squad, and paid $22.81 additional for the inspector to drive extra mileage to inspect the car. The company selling the car did sell it by 2/26/18, so I contacted Lemon Squad via their online chat system, about the sale. Angel (CS rep) put the inspection “on hold” until I could find another vehicle to inspect. However I did then purchase a vehicle locally, and no longer needed the Lemon Squad service. On 3/13/ 2018, I contacted Lemon Squad's customer service via online chat, Angel again responded. I informed the cs rep that I had purchased a vehicle locally, thus had no need for their inspection service and asked to cancel the order. Initially Angel objected to this cancellation, saying that the company cannot cancel an order and that I must have agreed to that when I ordered their service. I wrote no, that the company provided no service, and regardless of any adhesion contract – which is legally invalid anyway – when no service is rendered, then no charge may be made. Angel replied via online chat, asking if I had any friends or family needed an auto inspection; I replied in the negative, expecting a refund, including the additional $22.81. I then called the company and stated that if a refund was not done, I would perform a credit card charge-back. Angel then agreed that a refund was due, and said I could expect a call from the owner. The owner did phone and addressed me in a very rude/abusive manner, saying that the company does not offer refunds even when no service is rendered. Based on the lack of response to confirm the refund promised by customer service, I disputed the charge with the credit card company and expect that refund to be honored.

The Maserati that you are talking about was inspected in March 2017, well over a year ago. If you were having issues with that vehicle, you would have needed to let us know within 14 days of receiving the report. This is the first I have heard of any issues with this vehicle. You have used us 5 times in total. We have always been a pre-pay service. Nothing about that has changed. You are well aware of how we work and what our policies are. We were obviously trustworthy enough for you to have used us 5 times. You are the one who changed your mind on the vehicle that you did the chargeback on. The vehicle didn't sell and you were advised at that time, and many times previously in the terms and conditions that you agreed to each and every time you used our service that your order would go on hold. Your order would never expire and it can be used towards another inspection anywhere in the US. Just last Friday, you came through our chat program and told us to let Andy know that he can "F off". I don't understand where the hostility is coming from. I hope other people reading this will realize that you aren't the best customer to have and they should really weigh the option of if they want to take you on as a customer or not.

Customer Response • May 10, 2018

I am rejecting this response because:
The business owner is lying about the Maserati inspection. The inspection order *** was submitted February 15th, 2018 and I have the documentation to prove that. Indeed, I have documentation to prove everything I write, and will gladly provide that documentation to the Revdex.com as necessary; just as I have submitted the same documentation to the credit card company. Meanwhile Lemon Squad will not provide documentation for anything, even its own charges. Likewise Lemon Squad's online adhesion contract is not only unenforceable, an online adhesion contract is unethical by definition, since the company touts that it can charge a customer without providing a service. The foregoing is a tort and no court anywhere will uphold that one. As for the chargeback referred to, the original charge for inspection (never performed) was charged by Lemon Squad on Feb, 21, 2018 for which no service was ever rendered. I was promised a refund by the company and did not receive it.That charge is still in dispute as of May 7th, 2018, regardless of any false representations made by the business owner, just another of many. Furthermore, this business owner has harassed me via unsolicited phone calls, made threats by phone, and chided me via VM about the "chargeback you lost". Likewise this company's failure to provide written representations - other than via the company's false Revdex.com response - and provides no hard copy invoice and no documentation for services rendered, clearly illustrates the manner in which they do business at least in my experience: very unethically. .

Do not use this company. They delete inspection reports 60 days after purchase and refused to refund my service because it fell out of the 2 week window which is an extremely short period. They charged $50 more for exotic car inspections which includes Porsche which they claim on their websites they are experts in evaluating. They do not however pull Porsche specific engine data from the onboard computer during inspection which is critical for extended warranty coverage and purchase decisions. Such data uncovers history on over-rev events and other relevant engine information for purchasing a high performance vehicles. Because my inspector didn't pull this data, my engine had catastrophic failure shortly after purchase because of pre-existing conditions resulting in a total loss for me. Could have been easily identified with a simple engine data pull but they admitted their mechanics don't have the equipment to do so despite the wide availability of these readers on the Internet at low cost. They use standard code readers for basic engine data. They should not be inspecting Porsches nor making claims that they are experts in inspecting them.

Hi Jiho, I am sorry to hear you are not happy with our service. We looked at this vehicle back on Nov 28, 2017. That was five months ago. Not just over the 14 day period that is stated in the terms and conditions. We put on our website our pricing. If you had any questions about the fee or about the OBD2 computer, you could have called us before you placed your order. We also put on the website that reports expire after 60 days. You are welcome to print or save your report for your records at any time during that 60 days, as you are prompted by the system, not only with the countdown timer, but the print button as well. The inspector who looked at this vehicle is an ASE certified master tech who has been inspecting cars for us for over 10 years. He uses an OBD2 scan tool to look for any current or pending codes. He also looks to see if any codes have been erased. He looks at the live data as well. This is exactly what we say we do on our website. He has consistently done a good job for us. He has looked at over 300 Porsches with over thousands of inspections on other manufacturers. Even with all of our experience with looking at vehicles, we cannot predict the future. All we can do is tell you is how the vehicle performs for us at the time we are with it. If there were any signs that the engine was having a problem, we would have notified you in the report. Unfortunately, vehicles can have failures without warning. There will always be risk in buying a used car. We can help reduce the risk, but we cannot eliminate it completely. Again, I am sorry you are having issues with your vehicle and wish you luck.

To be fair, I will adjust my review. This company should not be inspecting LATE model Porsches with a MANUAL transmission. The situation I described rarely occurs on automatic transmission but is very common on manual transmission cars. This is less relevant for old Porsches in which engines don't track this data. If you own a somewhat late model Porsche with a manual transmission, it's critical that you pull the proper engine data which all Porsche dealers and mechanics do it as part of their PPI. In my case engine failure was not just a coincidence. Despite my car being driven for 4 months, it was a weekend vehicle and I used it only about 12 times prior to breakdown. I talked to the mechanic who coincidentally serviced the car when it was owned by the seller. He confirmed my car was previously identified as a problem vehicle prior to sale and unfortunately the seller decided to sell it to me without disclosing all the facts. It's an unfortunate circumstance for me as a buyer, but Lemonsquad should update their website with a disclaimer to buyers of their exotic inspection service that if they are inspecting a late model, manual transmission high performance car, that they do not pull this specific engine data. The data in my case would have shown that the buyer had material over rev events literally just prior to him listing his car for sale which was a huge red flag. The over revs were in the upper ranges (Range 4 to 5) which not only per Porsche likely cause engine damage, but also can void warranties. Most buyers including me do not even know what OBD2 means; and the reason we hire professionals such as Lemonsquad is because we ourselves do not know specifically what to look for in purchasing exotic/high performance vehicles. I'm sure Lemonsquad and my Lemonsquad mechanic does a great job on regular vehicles.

Lemon Squad saved me $10,000 on 3/13/2018. T.J. gave an indepth review with 20 or more photos on an EBay car that he found rust and bondo that would have cost me $10-12,000 to fix. I alerted my mechanic and my car specialist from Monroe, S.C. to watch out for the photos and they said "Stay away from that car"! I had already discussed methods of payment and transport with the buyer. The buyer came back with it was all my fault but his comments on "EBay feedback" are there forever!

The technician was very informative, honest & helpful. The process at Lemon squad was a breeze and the inspection was done thoroughly. Im really thankful that I found this company. The professionalism was extraordinary! I would definitely suggest this place especially for females without a lot of knowledge about vehicles. Thanks Lemon Squad!

Stay away. Many other reputable companies out there I have used. Ordered an inspection from Lemon Squad. They scheduled it for the next day. Canceled it a couple hours later (i.e., well before it was scheduled). Company says nothing to me about moving up the inspection so contends I cannot cancel. I complain. I get a very unprofessional message from the company out of Minnesota. Absurdly unprofessional and sarcastic. I saved it, in case anyone wants to hear it. Beware of the unilateral rules Lemon Squad hides in its FAQs. That's how they try to get around ever, ever refunding your money. Bottom line is this: once you pay, NOTHING will entitle you to a refund, according to this fly by night shop. As for the inspection report -- it was horrendous. Had them look at a VW diesel TDI. 85K miles. No timing belt change by the single owner, which is due at 60K. $1100 service. Critical for these cars, if you know the car. Report indicated it was fine. Among other misses. Stay away. Lemon Squad is indeed A LEMON.

B*** placed an order for an inspection yesterday (3/6) through our website. Our inspector was planning to do the inspection on 3/7 and had set the ETA to that date but had an opening in his schedule so he moved it to same day because vehicles do sell quickly. The ETA is just an estimate. We do try our best to get out there sooner. Most of our customers would be very happy with that. B sent us a message later in the day, yesterday, saying that he didn't want us to look at that vehicle because the timing belt hadn't been changed (he should have checked on that before he placed his order). It is for reasons like this that we have a policy that you can't change the vehicle once you place your order. The report did show that the timing belt had not been changed. B sent mean and nasty messages to us, letting us know that he is a lawyer and we should wait to see how this turns out for us. Bottom line is, we pulled off a same day inspection for him and he is bashing us. If you are a business reading this, watch out for this guy. He is not a good customer for you to have.

I just rec'd a message from Lemon Squad. Apparently the owner, which I have saved. He has threatened to "spend significant time and money" blasting my name all over the internet. He further said his intent is to injury my reputation. Just so you know the type of people who are doing business out there. I can play the message for the Revdex.com anytime.

I sent lemon squad out to check out a car for me and got the report back. The pictures looked so good but when I got the report and seen the pictures and read the report from them I changed my mind on the car. I will use them again. They do a though job and worth the money.

You guy are outstanding. If it hadnt been for you I would have bought a car that I would have regretted everyday from the purchase. The thing was total junk. You saved me from a headache a heart attack and a big financial mistake. I would highly recommend you guys all day long. Thank you you get triple AAA. THANK YOU!

I was very pleased with the service and inspection report from Lemon Squad. I was purchasing a 2006 Toyota in the San Francisco bay area and purchased the inspection on a Friday morning. The inspection was completed that same afternoon and I received the report the next morning. I was familiar with the vehicle and the report confirmed the items I knew of and found a few more. The report also noted some items to look out for in the future. I would use them again in the future.
