Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because: They have not addressed that even after not approving me they still continue to mail and email me these offers. Once denied they need to stop spamming the people they are not going to approve.  The response was a canned response with no concern about the spam and false lies of the pre-approval process.Sincerely,[redacted]

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/10/19) */
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to respond to [redacted]'s Revdex.com complaint.
Lending Club uses information provided by credit bureaus, including credit score, outstanding debt, payment history, and recent...

credit activity, to identify potential borrowers and send pre-approved loan offers. At the time of loan application, we request other important information, such as income and employment status. We may also request updated information from credit bureaus.
All of the information is used to determine if an applicant qualifies for a loan offer. Common reasons for being declined for a loan after receiving a pre-approved offer are that an applicant's current outstanding debt is too high relative to his/her income or that changes have occurred in the applicant's credit report since pre-screening.
Loans originated through the Lending Club platform are underwritten and made by WebBank, Salt Lake City, UT, member FDIC. Lending Club provided an adverse action notification describing the credit decision on behalf of WebBank. Mr. [redacted] can view the adverse action letter by logging into his Lending Club account.
Please note that the pre-screening process and loan application do not affect an applicant's credit score, because neither action is reported to credit bureaus as a hard credit inquiry. Mr. [redacted] is eligible to apply again for a loan via Lending Club 30 days after the date of his last application.
If there are further questions regarding this matter, please have Mr. [redacted] contact Lending Club directly by email at [redacted]@lendingclub.com or phone XXX-XXX-XXXX Mon-Sat 6am-5pm PST.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2015/10/20) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
As a consumer/user of credit for the past 40 years, I am WELL aware of the criterion required to be approved for a loan. For the past few years, once a month, Lending Club has sent a letter or letters to my home that advertise to me that I am "Pre-Approved," which indicates to me that they have already done the pre-screening and that I am credit worthy, based on standard credit application procedures. Apparently, Lending Club does no such pre-screening. How then, can they advertise to me that I am Pre-Approved? Pre-Selected to Apply would be more accurate. Ah...but they know if they write that I am "Pre-Selected to Apply" there is no guarantee the loan application process will yield the results I desire, thereby causing me to do what I should have done in the first place...file their letter appropriately...in the round file with the rest of the mountain of [redacted] I get through the mail. No...I do not accept this response. Pre-Approved means just that. There should be no questions, ifs ands or buts...if you advertise to me that I am "Pre-Approved" you should honor your offers.
Final Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2015/10/28) */
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to respond to [redacted]'s Revdex.com complaint.

Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), consumer credit reporting agencies, such as TransUnion and Experian, are permitted to include a consumer's name on lists used by creditors or insurers to make firm offers of credit or insurance not initiated by the consumer ("Firm Offers"). The mailer Mr. [redacted] received is an example of a Firm Offer. Recipients of a Firm Offer must continue to meet the credit criteria established prior to making the offer. The term "pre-approval" is used because final account approval is subject to reverification of credit history, as well as verification of additional information that is unknown at the time of the Firm Offer, such as income and employment status.
Loans originated through the Lending Club platform are underwritten and made by WebBank, Salt Lake City, UT, member FDIC. As noted in the initial response, Lending Club delivered the adverse action letter to Mr. [redacted] on behalf of WebBank, which Mr. [redacted] can view by logging into his Lending Club Account Summary. Mr. [redacted] is eligible to apply again for a loan via Lending Club 30 days after the date of his last application.
If there are further questions regarding this matter, please have Mr. [redacted] contact Lending Club directly by email at [redacted]@lendingclub.com or phone at XXX-XXX-XXXX Mon-Sat 6am-5pm PST.
Final Consumer Response /* (4200, 11, 2015/11/02) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Within 30 days of being turned down I was again sent a solicitation informing me that I was "PRE-APPROVED." Based on the criterion I was subjected to and rejected for, how can I possibly be "PRE-APPROVED," you just rejected me? As an interesting side note, I continue to receive these "PRE-APPROVED" notices. The ads do not state that I am "PRE-APPROVED" based on any eligibility requirements, they simply state that I am "PRE-APPROVED." This was obviously false...as I was not approved after going through the process. This is a deplorable and dishonest was to do business. I intend to take the time to file individual complaints with Attorney generals of all states involved.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to respond to [redacted]’s Revdex.com complaint.
LendingClub spoke with [redacted] via phone on 6/26/2017 to clarify that [redacted] checked his rates for a personal loan through the Lending Club marketplace on 6/6/2017 via one of our affiliated partner websites. LendingClub advised that the pre-screening process and loan application do not affect an applicant’s credit score, because neither action is reported to credit bureaus as a hard credit inquiry.
We thank you again for the opportunity to respond to this complaint brought to your attention by [redacted]. To the extent that he has further questions, please have him contact Lending Club directly by email at [redacted], Mon-Fri  6am - 5pm PST and Sat 8am -5pm PST.

I have had a good experience with Lending club. I was able to buy a small retirement home with the down payment money. The big banks would not lend me under $50k. I am on my third loan. Customer service is great to work with too. Its like having a rich Aunt or Uncle to go too without feeling guilty. Thanks Lending Club..

Thank you for giving LendingClub the opportunity to respond to [redacted] Revdex.com (Revdex.com) complaint.
LendingClub attempted to contact Ms. [redacted] on 3/26/2018 about her complaint. As a courtesy due to a customer service issue, LendingClub expensed the remaining balance in the...

amount of $865.48 on 3/26/2018 and the account is paid in full. We apologize for the confusion and any inconvenience this may have caused.
We thank you again for the opportunity to respond to this complaint brought to your attention by Ms. Spacone. If Ms. [redacted] has further questions, please have her contact LendingClub directly by email at [redacted].com or by phone at [redacted] Monday-Friday 8a.m. to 5p.m. Pacific Time.

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/05/27) */
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to respond to [redacted]'s Revdex.com complaint. We understand Mr. [redacted] is disappointed, and we would like to address his concerns regarding the loan application process and how it affects...

his credit.
Checking rates for a loan through the Lending Club marketplace does not impact a consumer's credit score because it results in a "soft" credit inquiry. Unlike a "hard" credit inquiry, which may be visible to future creditors, a soft inquiry does not negatively impact a consumer's credit score and can only be seen by the owner of the credit profile.
In order to determine potential loan offers and rates, Lending Club must be able to access an applicant's credit profile. Therefore, every consumer requesting a loan through Lending Club must authorize WebBank and Lending Club to obtain consumer reports and related information from one or more consumer reporting agencies, such as TransUnion, Experian, and Equifax. Lending Club will not process a loan request without the [redacted]'s full authorization.
When Mr. [redacted] submitted an online loan request through Lending Club, he agreed to Lending Club's Terms of Use (https://www.lendingclub.com/info/terms-of-use.action) and Credit Profile Authorization (https://www.lendingclub.com/info/borrower-credit-profile-authorization.action) through electronic signature. This allowed Lending Club to obtain his credit profile, which resulted in the soft credit inquiry. Again, this inquiry will not have a negative effect on his credit.

Loans originated through the Lending Club platform are underwritten and made by WebBank, a Utah-chartered Industrial Bank, member FDIC.
We attempted to reach out directly to Mr. [redacted] to explain the above information. To the extent that Mr. [redacted] has further questions, please have him contact Lending Club directly by email at [redacted]@lendingclub.com or phone XXX-XXX-XXXX Mon-Sat 6am-5pm PST.

Thank you for giving Lending Club the opportunity to respond to [redacted] Revdex.com (Revdex.com) complaint.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to respond to [redacted]'s Revdex.com complaint.
Lending Club records indicate Ms. [redacted] has never had any relationship with Lending Club. The circumstances of the event to...

which Ms. [redacted] has fallen victim are not the result of any actions by Lending Club or its affiliates. We are sorry to report that Ms. [redacted] appears to be the victim of an ongoing scheme where the Lending Club name or a variation of Lending Club is used to entice victims to pay up-front fees for non-existent loans, also known as an Advanced Fee Scam.
It appears that after a victim has applied for a loan online through an unaffiliated website, the victim's loan request information is somehow obtained by the fraudsters. The fraudster then contacts the victim using the Lending Club name (or variation thereof), promising the victim that they can obtain a loan through Lending Club by paying an application fee. In some instances, the fraudsters return to the same victim multiple times requesting additional funds in exchange for securing a loan. Funds are usually transferred to the fraudsters through the use of a Green Dot or Vanilla Visa card (or similar device), companies with whom Lending Club has no relationship.
All loans through Lending Club are made without any application fee and are funded by WebBank, a Utah Industrial Bank. Information regarding the relationship between Lending Club and WebBank may be found on our website at lendingclub.com.
Regrettably, Ms. [redacted] is another victim of this fraud scheme. She is not a consumer who has engaged in any financial transactions with Lending Club. The people she spoke with were part of the fraud scheme. The application fees delivered by Ms. [redacted] were not sent to Lending Club; they were likely sent directly to the fraudsters.
The Lending Club Fraud Department has spoken to Ms. [redacted]. She now understands that she is a victim of this scam. Lending Club recommended that Ms. [redacted] add a fraud alert to her Credit Bureau report, file a complaint with the Internet Crime Complaint Center, and report the scam to her state's Attorney General.
To our knowledge, these fraudsters have not been found to date and continue to prey upon their victims.
Lending Club continues to work with consumers and any and all appropriate and willing law enforcement agencies to find and prosecute these fraudsters (FBI Complaint Id: IXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX, FTC Complaint Id: XXXXXXXX). The United States Secret [redacted] (San Francisco chapter) met with Lending Club on 11/13/13 to discuss this issue and has since launched their investigation.
If there are further questions regarding this matter, please have Ms. [redacted] contact Lending Club directly by email at [redacted]@lendingclub.com or phone XXX-XXX-XXXX Mon-Sat 6am-5pm PST.

Revdex.com Complaint Activity Report Case XXXXXXXX
Borrower Name: [redacted]
Lending Club ID: XXXXXXXX
Consumer Complaint:
Consumer claims company uses deceptive advertisement to refer applicants to other agencies.
Consumer's Desired...

Resolution:
Change advertising practices.
Lending Club is in receipt of Revdex.com (Revdex.com) complaint case number XXXXXXXX submitted by Mr. [redacted] and would like to clarify the pre-approval process and explain the denial of a loan application.
We use information provided by credit bureaus, including credit score, outstanding debt, payment history, and recent credit activity, to identify potential borrowers, and send pre-approved loan offers based on those criteria.
At the time of his loan application, we asked Mr. [redacted] for other important information, such as his income and employment status. Because several weeks pass between the pre-screening process and the actual application, we also request updated information from the credit bureaus.
Both sets of information are used to determine if an applicant qualifies for a loan offer. Common reasons for being declined for a loan after receiving a pre-approved offer are that an applicant's current outstanding debt is too high relative to their income or that changes have occurred in their credit report since pre-screening.
The specific reasons why a loan application was declined are provided in an adverse action notice, which can always be viewed by logging into the Lending Club Account Summary.
Please note that the pre-screening process and loan application does not affect credit scores, because neither action is reported to credit bureaus as a hard credit inquiry.
In this case, the application was not a match with the stringent credit criteria that Lending Club uses to determine eligibility. However, when unable to obtain a loan through Lending Club, we often suggest other referral partners who may be able to assist an applicant in securing a personal loan.
Should Mr. [redacted] have any further questions about the application, Member Support can be contacted at (XXX) XXX-XXXX Mon-Sat 6am-5pm PST or at [redacted]@lendingclub.com.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to respond to [redacted] Revdex.com complaint. We are sorry that [redacted] customer service experience did not meet his expectations. We were able to speak with [redacted] via phone on 3/28/2016 to address his concerns and thank him for...

his feedback. We hope to use his feedback to improve our service. We provided [redacted] our contact information via phone; however, if would like to discuss Lending Club's application process further, please have him contact our Customer Advocacy department at [redacted], 6am to 5pm, Monday through Friday Pacific Standard Time.

beware. they always charge 5% up front for your loan. So if you borrow $20k
you actually get 19K. they do not disclose this in an obvious way.

I would not borrow from them unless you really are desperate.

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/02/27) */
Thank you for giving Lending Club the opportunity to respond to [redacted]'s Revdex.com (Revdex.com) complaint.
Borrowers can have payments withdrawn from an account of their choosing. They may update/change that information...

throughout the life of the loan. When a bank account is changed, an email is automatically sent informing the borrower that their profile has been updated. There is also information about the requirement to complete the verification step in the email. For security purposes, Lending Club cannot process payments from unverified bank accounts.
Lending Club records reflect that representatives attempted several times to reach Mr. [redacted] between the period of 1/5/2015 and 1/23/2015 to discuss his account. Mr. [redacted] states that he received bad [redacted], and we apologize for that experience. Our records, however, reflect that Lending Club has provided accurate information to the credit agencies.
It is Lending Club's policy to report all account experiences to one or more of the major credit reporting agencies. Lending Club reports both positive and negative payment histories. Late payments, missed payments, or other defaults on an account may be reflected on the credit report. To remain fair and partial to all borrowers, we are unable to make modifications or exceptions to our credit bureau reporting policy.
We thank you again for the opportunity to respond to this complaint brought to your attention by Mr. [redacted]. To the extent Mr. [redacted] has any further questions or concerns, please have him contact Lending Club directly by email at [redacted]@lendingclub.com or phone XXX-XXX-XXXX Mon-Sat 6am-5pm PST.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2015/03/03) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
To whom this may concern,
I'm not looking for any special favors but instead whats right. I never received an email from lending club asking me to verify my account. I have checked my inbox several times since speaking with them to double check and I have nothing. I called in to notify them to draft another payment, explained the reasoning why and that I was changing my account no one notified me of anything. When I changed my account online it didn't alert me to verify any account. I have my bank statements I can provide showing the money was in the account., which proves I had all intentions of paying. Once I was called several days after the 30 day reporting period, I answered and this company asked me for my personal information (later they explained why but at the time I wasn't going to give that to some random person calling me with all of the fraud going on) all they had to do was say this is regarding my account etc. I received an email from them before stating my payment was late although it wasn't I called immediately and they fixed it, I also got an email asking about [redacted] feedback so I am receiving emails. Basically I did everything I could to ensure this payment went through I was not notified of there procedure (which is not a common procedure by the way, so its not something I would know). My bill is paid Im simply looking to get this removed of my credit, if not please provide me with the proof my email was sent and opened, considering that's what your basing your denial on. Lastly, please double check your notes once I called in to ask why my payment wasn't drafted the guy on the phone explained to me what happened notified me it shouldn't be on my report and if it was you can get it removed as he can see the error and how that happened. Again listen to your reps recorded conversation as well as I'm sure he left notes.

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/09/28) */
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to respond to [redacted]'s Revdex.com complaint. We understand that she was disappointed with her loan offers and concerned about account closure, so we'd like to explain.
In general...

our customers tell us that they're saving money with Lending Club versus their other options, but there are circumstances where that may not be the case. Rates on loans through Lending Club range from 5.99% to 32.99% Annual Percentage Rate (APR) and are set for each individual [redacted] based upon the experience of facilitating billions of dollars in consumer loans through the Lending Club platform. At times, customers may be selected to participate in promotional programs, which feature loan offers with an APR lower or higher than this advertised range of rates.

Lending Club records indicate Ms. [redacted] has no active application or loan through Lending Club. To comply with Ms. [redacted]'s request, Lending Club has removed her name, address, and email from our marketing list. To the extent that Ms. [redacted] has previous applications or loans, Lending Club is required to keep records in accordance with the requirements of both federal and state law. We are unable to remove such information from our records database until such time that the required record retention period expires. This information can be viewed in our Privacy Policy which can found here: https://www.lendingclub.com/public/privacy-policy.action
To the extent that Ms. [redacted] has further questions, please have her contact Lending Club directly by email at [redacted]@lendingclub.com or phone XXX-XXX-XXXX Mon-Sat 6am-5pm PST.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to respond to [redacted]'s Revdex.com complaint.
On 7/11/15, Mr. [redacted] contacted Lending Club to delay his July monthly payment. Unfortunately, due to human error, Lending Club...

applied the postponement request to his August payment instead. Lending Club has apologized for this inconvenience and refunded the payment processed in error back to Mr. [redacted] six days after the notification. Lending Club will reimburse Mr. [redacted] for any overdraft fees he has incurred as a result of this mistake pending receipt of a bank statement indicating the overdraft fees associated.

Lending Club received Mr. [redacted]'s payoff check on 8/5/2015, and no interest accrued on his loan after that day. Our refund policy is to send any overage paid on a loan payoff back to the payee. If a borrower sends in a payoff check from a third party, Lending Club will submit a refund check to that third party. Lending Club apologizes for the confusion regarding this policy and has expedited Mr. [redacted]'s refund per his request. Lending Club sent a refund check on 8/13/2015 via overnight delivery to the third party listed as the payee.
It is Lending Club's policy to report all account experiences to one or more of the major credit reporting agencies. Our records indicate Mr. [redacted]'s loan is paid in full and all payments were received on-time or within grace period. Therefore, no negative information has been/will be furnished to credit reporting agencies regarding this account.
To the extent that Mr. [redacted] has further questions, please have him contact Lending Club directly by email at [redacted]@lendingclub.com or phone XXX-XXX-XXXX Mon-Sat 6am-5pm PST.

I was very leery about using this company. I read the reviews and it made me very hesitant. But then I take the reviews with a grain of salt because people are more likely to write reviews when they are not happy. I wanted to share my personal experience. I got my first personal loan in Dec 2014. I was approved quickly. It did take longer than I would have liked to get my information (work) verified. But once the verification was completed, I received the month with in 48 hours to my bank account. My interest rate was high, but then my credit is ok, not top notch. I then got a 2nd loan, paying off my first loan in Aug 2015. (You must have an established account for 6 months before you can get another loan) My interest rate was better on the 2nd go around. Getting a loan the 2nd time was 100% faster. From start to finish I received my money with in 72 hours. I have only had to call one time to pay off my first loan with a portion on the 2nd loan that I received. The person was very nice and friendly. They use the account information that they deposit your money into to take the money directly out of your account. I am not a fan of that. There are times I can pay the bill before my due date, but I have to wait a week, sometime even 2 weeks, to have the money come out.
I am seeing with the mixed reviews, that it really depends on who is working on your loan and how fast they can get information verified. Again, my first time was slow, but my 2nd time around was very quick. I will say that abundance of emails after the loan process was annoying.
All in all, I would give a 8 out of 10 and I will absolutely use them again.

Thank you for giving Lending Club the opportunity to respond to [redacted] L [redacted]'s Revdex.com (Revdex.com) complaint.
Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), consumer credit reporting agencies, such as Transunion and Experian, are...

permitted to include a consumer's name on lists used by creditors or insurers to make firm offers of credit or insurance not initiated by the consumer ("Firm Offers"). Under these same rules, Firm Offers must include instructions for how the consumer may opt-out of receiving future offers. Lending Club direct mail solicitations include a toll-free telephone number, as well as addresses for each of the three major national credit reporting agencies, which consumers can call to opt-out of all Firm Offers. Additionally, the solicitation includes a mailing address and email for consumers to specifically opt-out of communications from Lending Club.
The toll-free number that Ms. [redacted] called, and is referring to in her complaint, is operated by the consumer credit reporting agencies, not Lending Club. The agencies do require the consumer to provide their social security number in order to process the consumer's opt-out request. Lending Club, however, only requires enough information to properly identify the mailing address, e-mail address, or telephone number the consumer wishes to opt-out.
To comply with Ms. [redacted]'s request, Lending Club has removed her name and address from its mailing list. Please note that Ms. [redacted] may continue to receive Firm Offers from other companies unless she contacts the consumer reporting agencies directly.
We thank you again for the opportunity to respond to this complaint brought to your attention by Ms. [redacted]. If Ms. [redacted] has any further questions or concerns, please have her contact Lending Club directly by email at [redacted]@lendingclub.com or phone XXX-XXX-XXXX Mon-Sat. 6am-5pm PST.

Lending Club received a Revdex.com (Revdex.com) complaint, case number XXXXXXXX. Lending Club records indicate Ms. [redacted] applied for a loan through Lending Club on 5/14/2015. At that time, the Lending Club marketplace was unable to...

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
After speaking with an agent of the fraud div.of the lending Club, I am satisfied they had no part in what had been presented to me as a legitimate loan agreement.

This is an unacceptable response. Lending Club erroneously damaged my credit. I made payment in good faith. My bank has stated time and again they did not block/rescind any payment. I tried in good faith and the marks against my credit should be removed by Lending Club by having them contact credit agencies

Revdex.com Complaint Activity Report Case # XXXXXXXX
Borrower Name: [redacted]
Lending Club Loan No.: N/A
Lending Club is in receipt of Revdex.com (Revdex.com) complaint case number XXXXXXXX. Lending Club is aware of the situation...

referenced in the complaint to the Revdex.com. The circumstances of the event to which Mr. [redacted] has fallen victim are not the result of any actions by Lending Club or its affiliates. We are sorry to report that Mr. [redacted] was defrauded by a scheme that has been ongoing over the last several months where the Lending Club name is used is to entice victims to pay up-front fees for non-existent loans.
It appears that after a victim has applied for a loan on-line through an unaffiliated website, the applicant's loan request information is somehow obtained by the fraudsters. The fraudster then contacts the applicant/victim using the Lending Club name. They promise the applicant that they can obtain a loan through Lending Club by paying an application fee. In some instances, the fraudsters return to the same consumer multiple times requesting additional funds in exchange for securing a loan. Funds are usually transferred to the fraudsters through the use of a Green Dot or Vanilla Visa card (or similar device), companies with whom Lending Club has no relationship.
All loans obtained through the Lending Club platform are made without any application fee and are funded by WebBank, a Utah Industrial Bank. Information regarding the relationship between Lending Club and WebBank may be found on our website at lendingclub.com.
Regrettably, Mr. [redacted] is another victim of this scheme. He is not a consumer who has engaged in any transactions with Lending Club and as such there is no record of his activities within our system. The people he spoke with were part of the fraud scheme. The application fees delivered by Mr. [redacted] were not sent to Lending Club; it was sent directly to the fraudsters.
The Lending Club Fraud Department has spoken to Mr. [redacted]. He now understands that he is a victim of this scam. Lending Club recommended that Mr. [redacted] add a fraud alert to his Credit bureau report as well as file a complaint with the FTC.
To date, to our knowledge, these fraudsters have not been found and continue to prey upon their victims.
Lending Club continues to work with consumers and any and all appropriate and willing law enforcement agencies to find and prosecute these criminals (FBI Complaint Id: IXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX, FTC Complaint Id: XXXXXXXX). The United States Secret Service (San Francisco chapter) met with Lending Club on 11/13/13 to discuss this issue. The USSS has launched their investigation.
