Initial Business Response / [redacted] (1000, 5, 2014/05/14) */ BBB Complaint Activity Report Case XXXXXXXX Borrower Name: [redacted] Lending Club ID: XXXXXXXX Consumer Complaint: Consumer claims company uses deceptive advertisement to refer applicants to other agencies. Consumer's Desired... Resolution: Change advertising practices. Lending Club is in receipt of RevDex.com (BBB) complaint case number XXXXXXXX submitted by Mr. [redacted] and would like to clarify the pre-approval process and explain the denial of a loan application. We use information provided by credit bureaus, including credit score, outstanding debt, payment history, and recent credit activity, to identify potential borrowers, and send pre-approved loan offers based on those criteria. At the time of his loan application, we asked Mr. [redacted] for other important information, such as his income and employment status. Because several weeks pass between the pre-screening process and the actual application, we also request updated information from the credit bureaus. Both sets of information are used to determine if an applicant qualifies for a loan offer. Common reasons for being declined for a loan after receiving a pre-approved offer are that an applicant's current outstanding debt is too high relative to their income or that changes have occurred in their credit report since pre-screening. The specific reasons why a loan application was declined are provided in an adverse action notice, which can always be viewed by logging into the Lending Club Account Summary. Please note that the pre-screening process and loan application does not affect credit scores, because neither action is reported to credit bureaus as a hard credit inquiry. In this case, the application was not a match with the stringent credit criteria that Lending Club uses to determine eligibility. However, when unable to obtain a loan through Lending Club, we often suggest other referral partners who may be able to assist an applicant in securing a personal loan. Should Mr. [redacted] have any further questions about the application, Member Support can be contacted at (XXX) XXX-XXXX Mon-Sat 6am-5pm PST or at [redacted] @lendingclub.com.

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/06/17) */
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to respond to *** ***'s Revdex.com complaintWe understand Ms*** is disappointed, and we would like to address any concerns regarding our second loan application process
We can't change the terms of an existing loan, but we recognize that borrowers may be able to realize interest savings or meet new financing needs by applying for a second loan and using the funds from the second loan to pay off the outstanding balance of the current loanTo qualify for a second loan, borrowers need to meet the current credit criteria for the second loan and have made either or consecutive on-time monthly payments, depending on the loan term, on the existing Lending Club loanLending Club sends emails to borrowers informing them about the second loan opportunity if they have met the payment history criteria
If borrowers choose to apply for a second loan, they are required to submit an applicationAs part of the application process, Lending Club may perform income verification to validate the income stated on the loan applicationLending Club requested documents from Ms*** to verify that informationAfter reviewing the documentation, Lending Club determined that the income stated on the application could not be supported
Loans originated through the Lending Club platform are underwritten and made by WebBank, Salt Lake City, UT, member FDICLending Club delivered an adverse action letter to Ms*** on behalf of WebBankShe can access the adverse action notice by logging on to her Lending Club account
Please note pending applications for a second loan through Lending Club do not in any way alter or affect the status of a current loanAll payments on existing loans are due on the monthly payment due date
Ms*** is eligible to apply for a loan with Lending Club in the futureTo the extent that Ms*** has further questions, please have her contact Lending Club directly by email at ***@lendingclub.com or phone XXX-XXX-XXXX Mon-Sat 6am-5pm PST
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 8, 2015/06/23) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
This is why I am complaining to begin withThe response from Lending Club doesn't resolve my issueMy income cannot cover the two loans for sureThe second loan that I applied via online and Lending Club didn't approve it is because they are considering a second loan as an additional loan and therefore my income cannot cover the two loansThe second loan with Lending Club is to PAY-OFF THE FIRST LOAN WITH HIGH RATE, as they advertised on the letter that they sent meOnce I pay-off my first loan I do have enough money to pay for my second loan as I have been paying Lending Club's loan for the past year and halfI am requesting the approval of the second loan to lower my interest ratesI never received any letters from Lending Club and from WebBankI need Lending Club to approve my second loan since the purpose of the second loan is to repay the first LoanI need management team to give me a call, as usually is done by a respected firm, and try to resolve the issue
Final Business Response /* (4000, 10, 2015/07/06) */
Thank you for the opportunity to respond to the complaint from Ms***Lending Club spoke with Ms*** personally to address her complaint on 6/29/
We apologize that Lending Club cannot resolve Ms***'s requestMany borrowers utilize a second loan to pay off their first loanIt is Lending Club policy that all loan applications are subject to an initial soft credit inquiryCommon reasons for being declined for a second loan after receiving an invitation to apply offer are that an applicant's current outstanding debt is too high relative to their income or that changes have occurred in their credit report after their initial loan application
We thank you again for the opportunity to respond to this complaint brought to our attention by Ms***Please let us know if there are any further questions on this matterAdditional questions may be directed to Lending Club Member Support directly via email ***@lendingclub.com or phone XXX-XXX-XXXX Mon-Sat6am-5pm PST

Revdex.com Complaint Activity Report Case # XXXXXXXX
Borrower Name: *** ***
Lending Club is in receipt of Revdex.com (Revdex.com) complaint case number XXXXXXXXLending Club is aware of the situation referenced in the complaint to the
Revdex.comThe circumstances of the event to which Ms*** *** has fallen victim are not the result of any actions by Lending Club or its affiliatesWe are sorry to report that Ms*** was defrauded by an ongoing scheme where the Lending Club name or a variation of Lending Club is used to entice victims to pay up-front fees for non-existent loans
It appears that after a victim has applied for a loan online through an unaffiliated website, the victim's loan request information is somehow obtained by the fraudstersThe fraudster then contacts the victim using the Lending Club name or a variation of Lending ClubThey promise the victim that they can obtain a loan through Lending Club by paying an application feeIn some instances, the fraudsters return to the same victim multiple times requesting additional funds in exchange for securing a loanFunds are usually transferred to the fraudsters through the use of a Green Dot or Vanilla Visa card (or similar device), companies with whom Lending Club has no relationship
All loans obtained through the Lending Club platform are made without any application fee and are funded by WebBank, a Utah Industrial BankInformation regarding the relationship between Lending Club and WebBank may be found on our website at lendingclub.com
Regrettably, Ms*** is another victim of this fraud schemeShe is not a consumer who has engaged in any transactions with Lending Club and as such there is no record of her activities within our systemThe people she spoke with were part of the fraud schemeThe application fees delivered by Ms*** were not sent to Lending Club; they were likely sent directly to the fraudsters
The Lending Club Fraud Department has left messages for Ms*** to contact usUpon contacting us, we will advise her that she is a victim of this fraud scheme and will recommend that she add a fraud alert to her Credit bureau report as well as file a complaint with the FTC
To our knowledge, these fraudsters have not been found to date and continue to prey upon their victims
Lending Club continues to work with consumers and any and all appropriate and willing law enforcement agencies to find and prosecute these fraudsters (FBI Complaint Id: IXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX, FTC Complaint Id: XXXXXXXX)The United States Secret Service (San Francisco chapter) met with Lending Club on 11/13/to discuss this issue and has since launched their investigation

I took out a loan on line for $ No where in any of the correspondences did the Lending Club say their was a "finders Fee" of 6% of the loan This is above and beyond the almost 16% annual interest rate charged on the loanI got approved on-line, I was told the money would show up in my checking account What showed up today (9/20/2016) was $32900.00, not $ I started to pay off some debt and then decided I had better check on why the amount was low After many hours of calling, I was told there was a $finders feeI paid off two loans, cancelled the other payoffs and sent $20,back to the Lenders ClubI had plans and would have paid off all my debt if the loan amount was what I requested - $ No where in any documents does it say there is a fee This is unjust and out right thief

Thank you for giving Lending Club the opportunity to respond to *** *** Revdex.com (Revdex.com) complaintBorrowers may authorize Lending Club to automatically deduct monthly payments, additional payments or loan payoffs electronically via Automated Clearing House (ACH) transfers
through a bank account of their choiceTo complete the ACH transfer, Lending Club needs at least one business day's noticeAfter 2pm Pacific Time, we are operating on the next business dayDue to the timing of *** *** call to Lending Club, we were unable to schedule the payoffs for his loans on the requested date of Friday 2/19/We processed the transactions on the earliest date possible, which was the next business day, Monday 2/22/We apologize for the confusion regarding the payment scheduling and congratulate *** *** on paying off both of his loansAs a courtesy and to provide excellent customer service, Lending Club has refunded the interest that accrued on both of his loans from 2/19/to 2/22/2016.If there are further questions regarding this matter, please have *** *** contact Lending Club directly by email at *** or phone *** Mon-Sat 6am-5pm PST

I recently tried getting a loan through this company and because I'm almost completely deaf I have my wife take care of talking on the phone They asked to talk to me to verify that is was actually me and because I could hear them they were very rude to my wife and me I find there attitude towards a handicapped man very wrong and I wouldn't recommend anyone going through this company

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/09/21) */
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to respond to *** ***'s Revdex.com complaint
In general our customers tell us they're saving money with Lending Club versus their other options, but there are circumstances where that
may not be the caseRates on loans through Lending Club range from 5.99% to 32.99% Annual Percentage Rate (APR) and are set for each individual *** based upon the experience of facilitating billions of dollars in consumer loans through the Lending Club platform
All borrowers pay an origination fee between 1.11% and 5.00% of the loan amount, depending on the loan grade (A1-G5), which is based on the credit ratingThis can be found in the Rates & Fees section on our websiteThe origination fee is deducted from the loan proceeds, so the loan proceeds received will be less than the full amount of the issued loan
The origination fee is included in the APR calculation and was disclosed in the Truth in Lending disclosure (TIL)The TIL is Step of the online application and it specifies important terms of your loanLending Club requires that applicants acknowledge the TIL, and other important loan documentation, by electronically accepting the agreements before submitting an applicationIf an applicant does not electronically agree to the terms outlined in the TIL, the application will not move forward and the loan will not originate
In this case, Lending Club records indicate Ms*** accepted the TIL on 8/12/Ms***'s specific loan documents and agreements are available for review under the Loan Documents tab in her Lending Club AccountIf Ms*** would like to like to review information about rates and fees more generally, she can visit http://www.lendingclub.com/public/borrower-rates-and-fees.action
To the extent that Ms*** has further questions, please have her contact Lending Club directly by email at ***@lendingclub.com or phone XXX-XXX-XXXX Mon-Sat 6am-5pm PST
