Review: [redacted] TOOK OUT A SERVICE WITH [redacted] ON OCT. 2013. SHE PAID 399.99 FOR 3-YEARS. SHE HAS USED IT FOR 1-YEAR. SHE TOLD THEM TO CANCEL THE SERVICE BCAUSE SHE WAS NOT HAPPY WITH THE SERVICE. TOO MANY PROBLEMS GETTING DONE WHAT SHE NEEDED. SHE CALLED AND ASKED FOR A CREDIT OF 266.66 FOR THE LAST 2-YEARS. THEY SAY NO REFUNDS AFTER 30-DAYS. ON THERE DISCRIPTION IT SAYS YOU CAN GET A FULL REFUND BEFORE 30-DAYS, BUT IT SAY'S NOTHING ABOUT NOT GETTING A PARTIAL REFUND AFTER 30-DAYS. WHEN SHE TRIES TO TALK WITH THEM, THEY HANG UP ON HER. WE THINK IT IS FAIR TO PAY FOR 1-YEAR, AND WE WANT IT CANCELLED AND A REFUND FOR THE LAST 2-YEARS. THIS IS NOT FAIR AT ALL.Desired Settlement: THEY NEED TO CANCEL THE SERVICE AND PUT A CREDIT OF 266.66 BACK ON HER [redacted] CARD. THEY CAN SEND A E-MAIL TO HER WITH A CONFIRMATION NUMBER WHEN DONE.

Response:

[redacted] has a 30 days money back Guarantee Policy. If any customer is not happy with the service they can get a full refund within 30 days of initial registration. The same is specified on our website http://www.[redacted].com/ and also in the terms and condition available atwww.[redacted].com/terms.pdf.

In this case as the subscription was active for 1 year without any complaint or displeasure expressed by [redacted], it was informed to [redacted]’s Husband when he had called on 16th October 2014 to cancel the subscription, that we cannot cancel the policy at this time.

[redacted]’s husband contacted later on the same day and a [redacted] supervisor spoke with him and was informed about the 30 days Refund Policy.

As an exception in this case, we are issuing a refund of $220 via check to [redacted]. We have retained $179.99 for the subscription fee for 1year Annual Maintenance Plan [redacted] had from October 13, 2013 to October 13, 2014. [redacted] was informed of this on a call made to her on October 22, 2014.

Review: I had an issue with my antivirus "AVG" I did a search on google for AVG contact and this popped up first: Contact Support for AVGX (XXX) XXX XXXXwww.guruaid.com/AVG-Contact-Support 737 reviews for guruaid.comAntivirus Contact Help by GuruAid, 95% Satisfied Customers. Call Now!Fix AVG Problems - Get Support for AVG - Call: X-XXX-XXX-XXXXI did not realize that this was not an official AVG support center until after this person had remotely taken control of my PC and uninstalled my AVG software and then tells me it will cost $120.00 to fix my pc.This is not what I called for I asked many time to tell me why AVG was blocking my personal Website. He told me that he was not allowed to say anything bad about AVG but implied that I needed better software. He ran some sort of DOS scan on my computer assuring me that all was good. I now wonder if he stole information from my computer or not I have no clue. This company led me to believe that they were in fact AVG but the name guruaid was tossed around as if they were somehow affiliated. After calling the real AVG I was told to report them here.

Desired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Other (requires explanation)

This company is misleading callers. I am a tech person and they fooled me. I pray they did not steal info from my computer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I would like to know what becomes of this and this company. This is very wrong. [redacted]

Mr. [redacted] contacted us on August 10th, after searching on Google for AVG. On Google, companies that support antivirus software like AVG appear in the search. As Mr. [redacted] states guruaid.com clearly appears in the link that he clicked on.

Our advisor clearly informed Mr. [redacted] Numerous times that "we are GuruAid an Independent PC Support Company". Mr. [redacted] consented to remote access of his computer so that we could assist him with his problem. Later Mr. [redacted] said he was upset because he felt he was misguided by Google and he assumed we were affiliated with AVG. Our technician directed him to contact AVG directly.

Mr. [redacted]'s concern that information was stolen from his computer is unfounded and untrue. While in remote session he could view whatever activity our technician was performing, and at any time he could close the session and disconnect.

GuruAid is a global company with thousands of satisfied customers, our object is keep our customers happy and to retain their business.

zahir is the best, I have no complain I will recommend zahir anytime he is
excellent

Tushar K[redacted] did a very good job helping an old man get through this. He fixed everthing for me THANK YOU! Gordon S[redacted]

Review: I was on Norton Antivirus' site when GURUAID.com popped us a live chat window and told me they were representing Norton officially and Norton had found viruses on my pc, and that they were to remotely access my computer and remove them because they were critical and would kill my pc if not removed right away. The sales rep showed me the graphs and charts containing real time info on my computer's state of health, with flashing warnings stating my pc was overloaded to criticality with viruses. I let them do it because I thought they were with Norton, they then told me I needed this done on a monthly basis with Norton's special service dept(man claimed he was the manager), GURUAID. He said the continued service to completely protect my pc was $400.USD for 3 years, he was very insistent that if I did not buy the service, my computer would have no protection and would shortly crash. I bought it with my credit card, and my daughter found out and researched the company and told me they were known scam artists who claim to be working for Microsoft or Norton, in fact the attach a pop-up window to Microsoft and Norton's webpages so when you navigate the page, the pop-up appears and you think it is official. My daughter had me call my credit card company(Bank of America) and cancel my entire card, my card company said the payment had been stopped just in time before they charged my card, and they also said that GURUAID or Lester, Inc. had also tried to use my card to make all kinds of other, unauthorized purchases on the internet. In other words, they had attempted to illegally use my card to buy online as if it were their own. The representatives said they were in India, this company lied to me and tried to rob me, in a totally illegal way that would get an individual jail time under the same circumstances...FRAUD!

Revdex.com should investigate and shut down this company for the safety of the public, but also it seems that legally they must be shut down with owners prosecuted, as it is illegal to defraud customers, illegal to use another person's credit card, illegal to claim to represent Microsoft or Norton when there is no affiliation whatsoever. Many of the online complaints against this company were filed by seniors like myself, one man was 89 years old, they stole for years from him before he caught it.

Mr. [redacted] called GuruAid on our toll free line, on May 15, 2013. It is possible he got our number from an advertisement on Google. It is not possible that Mr. [redacted] got a GuruAid pop up on a Norton website, as we do not advertise on their website.

Mr. [redacted] wanted assistance with installation of compatible Norton Anti-virus software for his Windows 8 operating system, also a scan was performed that detected other issues that were also fixed. He was informed about our 3-year maintenance subscription plan and Mr. [redacted] confirmed his issues were resolved and the amount being charged to his credit card. After May 15, 2013 Mr. [redacted] did not communicate with us about any issues or objections that he had with our service.

It is very upsetting that the Bank of America representative's made accusations that

GuruAid tried to use his card but never contacted GuruAid about this complaint. Security is in place so that our sales reps cannot view the card details, as the customer enters the credit card information on a secure payment page.

We made numerous attempts to reach Mr. [redacted], but only reached his voice mail.

A full refund was issued on May 24, 2013 along with a confirmation email to [redacted]@hotmail.com.

Review: I called the number on the [redacted] website in order to upgrade my virus protection. An Indian gentleman answered the phone. I had been hijacked to [redacted] tech support but had no idea. He wanted to take a look into my computer and see what I needed. He informed me I was infected with viruses and my web browser was corrupted. The system might crash at any time. I told him I have [redacted] tech support and the compputer was cleaned a few days before. He insisted the matter was urgent and for only $100.00 they would perform a total cleaning which would probably take some hours. I felt desperate and finally agreed to the cleaning out of fear I would lose everything on the computer. Another man got on the phone and reasoned for only $79.99 more I would have a full year of tech support and printer support blah blah blah. I was juggled from one Indian voice to another and honestly don't know why I finally agreed even though I had an [redacted] contract but now I believed the [redacted] techs didn't know what they were doing if I was infected so badly after a cleanup. I have been unemployed for over a year now and can ill afford to throw so much money out of the window. These guys wear you down with their sales talking and refusing to let you make a decision they don't like. After a long time, the cleanup began. It was over in less than 10 minutes. That is how I really know it was a crock of lies. And now I am out the money. I called back a few days later and asked for a refund. The guy argued and argued with me. He insisted I call back in a month and then they would issue a refund. Of course when I called back this afternoon I was given the runaround again from one person to the other each saying the next person would issue my refund. The call was dropped twice. I finally called back and demanded a refund. The gentleman said I may get a small amount returned but thats all. I told him I was contacting the Revdex.com. It is very crooked to do to innocent unsuspecting people who fall into their trap!Desired Settlement: There was one charge of $100.00 and one for $79.99 made on 9/20/2015. I would like a full refund of $179.99 because I was tricked into purchasing a system cleanup.

Response:

We would

like to apologize for any inconvenience caused to Ms. [redacted] and upon the

receipt of this complaint via Revdex.com; we have investigated the complaint and below

are our findings and response.

Ms. [redacted] contacted

[redacted] to fix issues concerning her [redacted] antivirus installed on her computer

and as stated by Ms. [redacted] she didn’t knew how she contacted [redacted]. Ms. [redacted] chose/clicked on the results

in search engine which had a reference to our organization and therefore

reached [redacted].

Our technician

offered to help Ms. [redacted] fix the installation issue of [redacted] antivirus by

remotely accessing her computer, and as standard procedure he scanned the computer

for any existing issues that might hamper the computer’s performance or

operating system. During the course of troubleshooting it was found that Ms.

[redacted]’s computer was infected by Adware and the Internet browser was corrupted. Ms. [redacted] informed our Technician that she

already had a technical support plan with [redacted] and they had done maintenance

on her computer recently.

Our Technician

explained the benefits of [redacted]’s annual maintenance and if she wanted to fix

the current issue on her computer she could go for the Single Incident Plan by

paying $100 and if she was convinced and happy with the services offered by

[redacted] she could then upgrade her Single Incident Plan to an Annual

Maintenance Plan by paying $79.99 more wherein she would be entitled to

unlimited support for software related issue on her computer.

During every

call the [redacted] Technician informs the customers that if he/she is

uncomfortable during the remote session/connection of the computer they have

full right and option to close the remote session. Ms. [redacted] after understanding the benefit of

services offered by [redacted] agreed to sign-up for the Single Incident Plan and

paid $100 to fix the current issues on the computer after agreeing to the terms

and conditions of [redacted]. The technician

also educated Ms. [redacted] about adware related issues having more chances of

recurring. At that point Ms. [redacted] chose to upgrade the existing single

incident plan to an Annual Maintenance Plan. Refer to [redacted] for adware related information. The

issues were fixed to the satisfaction of Ms. [redacted] and a confirmation was given.

Ms. [redacted]

stated in her complaint that she is not happy with the service provided by

[redacted] and in compliance with [redacted]’s Satisfaction Guaranteed Motto, we have

issued a full refund for $179.99. A

confirmation email refund about the refund has been sent to the email address [redacted]. We request Ms. [redacted] to check her

latest Bank statement to confirm the refund issued.

Bhavesh the [redacted] technican was very informatyive and compitent within his job reach and solved many of my computers problems. He had also reminded me to activate [redacted] p.c. sercvice for one year.Am satified with both service and his level of compatency and I am both gratefull along with being thankfull.Customer D.J.B.

Review: Telemarketer continuing to use robo calls, despite assurances to BB they were switching to mail. I am aware of two within the last ten days using the number ###-###-####. I filed a complaint with the Do Not Call Registry on 10/15 and again on 10/25.Desired Settlement: Abide by it's self-imposed "changes."

Business

Response:

We are sorry for any

inconvenience Ms. [redacted] experienced. We did not “robo call” Ms. [redacted], according

to the definition of a “robo call” by the [redacted], nor have we given assurance to

the Revdex.com that we were switching to mail.

A live operator attempted

to reach Ms. [redacted], a previous donor or alumni, on behalf of a non-profit

educational institution. Ms. [redacted] provided her telephone number to the non-profit educational institution as the

primary number to reach her. Calling on

behalf of a non-profit does not violate the Do Not Call Law. We have placed Ms. [redacted] phone number on

our Internal Do Not Call List; we will not call her again.

Review: I got a virus on my computer and needed help getting it off. As this is a small town and family is not near I found this Guruaid. They fast talked me and frightened me into purchasing a 399.00 so they could protect my electronic devices from viruses. I think they use fast talking people to take advantage of people from the older generation who are not up to speed on these new devices. Was really frightened when the second man wanted me to hook up my camera, ask him what that had to do with anything and he didn''t reply.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund, will also contact the Att. Gen. Office and my bank.

Business

Response:

Ms. [redacted] contacted us on February 26, 2014 stating that she wanted to set-up [redacted] as her home page, and she was also concerned about the infections on her computer and needed our assistance to get these issue fixed. Ms. [redacted]'s issues were resolved and she confirmed that fact on the call. Ms. [redacted] subscribed to a 3 year Annual Subscription for 1 computer and paid $399.99.

Ms. [redacted] states in the complaint “they use fast talking people to take advantage of people from the older generation who are not up to speed on these new devices”. GuruAid trains our advisors to be neutral in rate of speech and to try to educate the customer in layman terms. At GuruAid, we do not take advantage of people especially the older generation. We try to give extra care to them and listen to their concerns patiently and assist them accordingly.

Ms. [redacted] also mentioned that a “second man wanted me to hook up my camera, ask him what that had to do with anything and he didn’t reply”. According to our two recordings of Ms. [redacted] contacting us; her first contact was at the time of subscription and the second at the time of her refund inquiry. Apart from that, we never had any other interaction with Ms. [redacted] and neither were there any calls made to Ms. [redacted] apart from the Post sales follow-up. Is it possible Ms. [redacted] dialed a different number and reaching another company, who would have asked Ms. [redacted] to hook up the camera? It certainly was not GuruAid.

Per our last conversation with Ms. [redacted] on April 9, 2014 when Ms. [redacted] asked for refund we informed her about the charge of $120.00, a Single Incident Plan for the issues that were fixed on February 26th, and the balance of $279.99 would be refunded to her. This was acknowledged by the Ms. [redacted]. We have issued a refund of $279.99 and a confirmation email has been sent to [redacted]

Consumer

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Sincerely,

extremely helpful and professional

I have been impressed in my 3 years of experience with [redacted]. I was thinking about not renewing my contract, but in my last call with Karan, he was able to show me exactly why I needed to renew my contract. He was a breath of fresh air with the amount of expertise and knowledge. I renewed for 2 years, more than I wanted. He updated & fixed things that have not been performed before or that I was not aware of.
I have been telling my co-workers about guruaid for a couple years now. I wish there was a referral reward.
