Review: Misrepresentation of who they were, plagiarized another company's identity, and lied with about a service we did not need that would cost money.
My husband found the their contact information through a google search for Mcafee and thought it was Mcafee Support. When they answered the phone they said they were "Mcafee Support." After about one hour on the phone and trying to figure out how to download the service we had already purchased through Mcafee, this company said we had problems with our computer and it would cost $100 before our Mcafee could be downloaded. After we questioned this again and again, they said McAfee was closed today and that they were our support, so we would not be able to find help, and if we went to where we purchased our computer that they would charge us the $100 so why not do it now. It was threatening and misleading.Desired Settlement: The public should know about this deceptive and misleading practice. By notifying the Revdex.com we hope the word will get out.

[redacted] contacted GuruAid on 5/26/13 to install McAfee Anti Virus on his new computer. Mr. [redacted] searched for the support numbers of McAfee on Google and called the support number of GuruAid. One of GuruAid's Technicians assisted Mr. [redacted] and asked for the registration information with McAfee, which is required to check if any licenses are available for download and installation. The technician did a diagnosis on his computer to check for any issues with the computer as [redacted] had informed that he had transferred data from his old computer to his new computer. The GuruAid technician explained the benefit of the maintenance plan and offered to fix the McAfee installation and perform a clean up and tune-up to remove any junk files that were transferred from the old computer. [redacted] declined the subscription and said he wanted to discuss it with his wife [redacted].
The call was handed over to [redacted] and she informed the technician that she thought she had a subscription with MacAfee and they will help her or else she will take the help of a local technician to solve the issue. [redacted] asked for refund and the GuruAid technician informed her that her husband had contacted GuruAid, which is an Independent Technical Support Company, as she was under the impression that she was speaking to MacAfee. Ms. [redacted] then disconnected the call.
Our Technician identified our company by name and informed that we were not McAfee, he also mentioned all the benefits of GuruAid's subscription.
As Mr. & Mrs. [redacted] are not GuruAid subscribers, we were unable to contact them and allay any misconception she had about our company.
Review: [redacted] Damage My Computer/Abuse Exploration Practices My computer was tampered with by a [redacted]nician 7/23/14 approximately 1:20 pm to approx. 3:30 pm. Suddenly I was disconnected. Prior to the LogMeIn situation, my computer work fine no problems. When I attempted to do work on my computer, it is corrupted. I am unable save document, IT converts to auto recovery-read only, and unable to exit/close/open documents. I called [redacted] and reported the incident and was told I was not a customer and I had to pay for the service. However, this was not what occurred this afternoon. I called a [redacted] Customer Service number that was intercepted by [redacted] Support services. The reason for the call was I needed to know how to scan and upload a document. The unidentified technician said he could help me with that and he requested me to LogMeIn. He scan a document for me, of course I had previously scan the same document. I only needed to know how to locate it to upload it to another document. This is the problem. He had permission to check my scanner but not investigate the whole compute software and programs (he did not request payment or contract) for this performance. He proceeded to explore my computer and documents. Stated to me that I had a "lot of mess and unnecessary stuff on the computer, 7529 problems found which conflicts with the printer and scanner. no protection on my computer and [redacted] not active." He suggested he could fix the problems with a 1 year contract of $180,but when I informed him that I was unable to pay immediately due to financial hardship. Tech kept insisting and pressuring me to purchase the contract. Finally, the telephone call was abruptly and suddenly disconnected. Later, I attempted to work on my computer and discovered it is not functioning. I think that the Tech corrupted my computer intentionally and deliberately.so I would have to pay to have it repaired or fixed. I immediately reported this incident to [redacted]Desired Settlement: Refer to:[redacted].com is a BAD virus tech support company that will infect your computer! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IrLObI8UPPIThe Consumer Voicehttp://www.complaintslist.com/?s=[redacted]12 [redacted] Complaintshttp://[redacted].pissedconsumer.com/Complaint Wirehttp://complaintwire.org/complaint/yaIP728u7gQ/guru-aid[redacted] Complaints & Reviewshttp://www.complaintsboard.com/bycompany/[redacted]-a439293.html

[redacted] contacted us on July 23, 2014 stating that she needed
assistance and informed [redacted] advisor that she had issues with her [redacted]
scanner. She had dialed [redacted] Tech
Support number but reached a different company, it was not [redacted]. That
technician, whom she first spoke with, was not from [redacted]. He took remote
access of her computer and checked her scanner; he checked other software on
her pc and pressured her for a sale stating that she had “7529 problems” in her
computer. [redacted] was concerned because
her computer started since then her computer did not functioning properly after
the technician took remote access of it.
Prior to that [redacted] states it was in good condition. [redacted]
is mistaken in her claim that the technician was from [redacted].
Per our recordings of all contact history,
there was no contact made by [redacted] to [redacted] to fix any issue before
this one call to us in the evening. Our [redacted] advisor probed for more
information about the technician [redacted] had spoken with however she did
not any information but claimed it was [redacted].
In order to check what really happened with [redacted]’s computer,
our advisor took remote access of the computer. As [redacted] wanted to fix the
issues, our advisor informed her that in order to fix the issue she would have
to sign-up for the [redacted] Annual Maintenance Plan or could sign up for the
Single Incident Plan, to which [redacted] declined and wanted to fix the issue
for free claiming that it was [redacted] who had created the issues and want it to
rectified without any charge.
[redacted] declined to pay for the subscription; there is no record of a charge of $100.00
made to [redacted]. Our advisor advised [redacted] to take the computer to a local technician. [redacted] agreed and
hung-up from the call after which there was no contact made.

Review: Lester Inc. continues to call my residence despite the fact that we are registered on the national Do Not Call registry. The call to my home this morning was 6:32 am and again at 7:34 am. This is not a reasonable time for a telemarketing firm to be calling.Desired Settlement: I want them to acknowledge and abide by the National Do Not Call registry and remove my number from their mailing list.
