Locksmith Connections Reviews (%countItem)

I locked myself out of one door (out of the three that allow me into my apartment) and was immediately quoted at $275.
Little did he know, I just locked myself out of all three doors just a few months ago - and was quoted $195 for all three doors. So I knew he was trying to swindle me without even having looked at the lock itself. I protested with an "absolutely not, this is not my first rodeo" and got him down to $190 within 2 seconds.
2) He couldn't finish the job. He did use a tool (something that blew air that compressed the door into opening) that got me in. But he tried drilling the lock and broke his drill bit. Thankfully, we agreed to place the lock back in temporariiy, so that there wasn't an obvious gaping hole obvious to pedestrians - especially in this political climate. I also live alone.
3) He wore no facemask or gloves. Not noticing my facemask around my neck (as I had locked myself out during a run), he very vocally, on the street in front of a facemask-wearing family, said to me, "You don't really believe in this whole facemask thing do you?" as if the 104,000 US citizens who have died of COVID took no toll on his potential empathy.
And I will remind you that it is SF law right now that you must wear a mask when outside AT ALL TIMES.So now - there is a now man in my home, with no mask and no gloves, working on a door I touch multiple times on a daily basis.
I realized later that when I went to pay, I had to give him my credit card. All other business are practicing contactless payment - it was out of habit that I forked my card over. He then took it to his car and billed me.
Please don't hire them.

We called this company because the neighbor (elderly) was locked out. So we called this company to unlock her door. They quoted $29 for service call and then $35. So, I confirmed with the person on the phone I said it will cost $60. This person said yes. It turned out that they charged $150 and the job took, less than 1 minute. Also, the person that unlocked the door said to make the check out to the guy directly, and then told her if she had called him directly, then it would had cost $60. The company stated that it was $35 and up today on the phone. This is a case of taking advantage of the elderly. If I had stayed while he was there vs. leaving when he arrived. I am sure that they would not had charged her that much because I would not had let them. Company branch is in Hampton Roads area. 757.690.0276 is their number.

The company itself has some decent people working for it however, the people they outsource to are absolutely TERRIBLE. There was basically a miscommunication in what needed to be done and this guy came out to my house and totally disrespected me. I paid him $30 for him to come to my home for 5 minutes and argue with me. I just can't believe people like this exist and this is the level of customer service that is provided. I made the mistake of having them come out before reading the complaints but decided to just take a chance. If you read this and have already called them, CALL BACK AND CANCEL. I'm waiting for the supervisor of Locksmith Connections to get back to me about a refund.

Locksmith Connections Response • Mar 27, 2020

Hello. I have read your complaint. I understand that you called for someone to come out to your site to give you a quote. The cost for the tech to come to you is $30, as explained from our dispatch. I understand that you declined service from the locksmith once he went over the the information. I would have also liked the situation to work out.

Customer Response • Apr 09, 2020

I understand the $30 fee however, the technician that was sent out and that represented your company was highly unprofessional. You say you would've liked to work it out as well but, that's hard to believe when the person I spoke with about this said they would call me back and never did. Forget the $30 refund, I really just want people to know how terrible your company is and to give them a warning before using you! Companies like you should be out of business!

Regards

Total rip off. They were going to charge $115 + $35 service fee. Ridiculous. Luckily, I remembered I have AAA and the service was no charge. For what I was going to be charged by this company, you can get a year long membership with AAA. You get roadside assistance and many other services included. Get a membership with AAA. Don’t use this company!

We had to call Locksmith Connections as we locked ourselves out of our home back in December 2019 - they sent over a young kid who poked at the door for nearly an hour and couldn't get it to open so he just ripped out our doorknob (which has nothing to do with the lock, two completely separate items)and still could not open the door, he called someone else who drilled into the lock and got us in in 30 seconds. Today (2/26/2020) I have called them very many times about the broken doorknob and they agreed that the doorknob should not have been ripped off and they will fix it. I've been back and forth with them and their techs who keep telling me they'll call me back and never do (or schedule the tech that never shows) Last time I called 2/24/2020 I spoke with a manger who was extremely rude and said he'd handle it and yet today 2/26/2020 still nothing from them.

Locksmith Connections Response • Mar 12, 2020

Thank you for reaching out to us. I reviewed your complaint and understand that you called to have our locksmith unlock your door but the locksmith could not open your door without damaging the lock. Our tech explained that he needed to drill the lock, which will damage it, in order to open the door and he suggested installing a new lock. He said he went over all the information with you prior to working on the lock and you had agreed for him to open the door by drilling but decline getting a new lock. If you would like the locksmith to return back to your house to install the lock, we can arrange that but he will need to perform the service of installing a new lock at the cost as previously discussed, since the damage of the lock was as discussed before performing the task. If you would like to arrange a time, please email me at locksmithconnecitons@***.com

WOW! After reading the many negative reviews on this company all I can say is I should have done my homework. My complaint mirrors just about all of the bad reviews that I have read from other consumers. I called and was told that there is a $29.99 service fee to unlock the car to get the keys out and that prices for coming out "start at $35". The technician arrived (later than what I was told but I didn't mind) and charged me $179!!! At no point was I told it was going to be that much and he was literally on my driveway for about a minute. I called and spoke to the woman on the phone who I originally called when requesting the service and she said she'd have a manager call me back because she "wasn't going to get bust on for something she didn't do". I received a call back and what a nightmare. The gentleman I spoke with was SO RUDE!!! He told me that their average prices are posted on their website and that he checked with the technician who handled my call and he said he told me the cost - WHICH HE DID NOT. I found out the price AFTER my card was charged. What a scam!! Terrible, terrible customer service. I asked him why they didn't disclose the "AVERAGE SERVICE CALL COST" as he kept pointing out that was listed on the website. In my opinion it is so they can dupe the consumer. Next time I will stick with AAA. I would give this company a negative 10 star review too!! DO NOT USE THEM!!

If it was an option I would give negative 10 stars!!! This place is a rip off. They advertise ignition repairs/replacements for $119-$329. Then they just send out a local locksmith. If I would have know that I would have contacted a local locksmith direct rather than going through a middle man. When they guy shows up he tells me its gonna cost $582!!! And that the keys wont match ect. They just used an aftermarket ignition that they charge $200+ for. I could have bought an oem one for like $65 and done it myself. The locksmith even said "next time contact him direct and he could save me some money". Hopefully there will never be a next time! Learn from my mistake and NEVER use these people. They are a joke!!

1. Wrong address. First of all, when the company asked my current address, they didn't confirm the address with me. Even though I double checked with the technician and asked him 'Do you have my address? Are you sure?' The tech gave me an extract answer that he knew. While the fact is, we waited for more than 1 hour because they used the wrong address.
2. Not providing accurate final price before starting the job. The tech talked a lot about if he BROKE the locker, the landlord will charge me a large amount of money but didn't clarify how much it would cost to open the door. And the result is that, no damage to the door, the locker also functioning well after open the door. No change on any component of the door. ONLY OPEN THE DOOR.
3. Expensive bill. After he finished the work, he tried to convince me that I should get some refund from the landlord, which I checked later with the office manager that I was cheated as a fool. That made me really unhappy. The final cost is $301.32, which is higher than the average price range: $59 - $149. The other residence in this building have the similar service as me, only charged $130. All these evidence can proof that I was cheated by the technician.
4. Useless compliant with the job manager. I tried to call them several times to require a detailed and explanation of the charge, and all the time and energy I spent was useless. They promised will connect with the technician and call back, however, until now, I didn't have a reasonable explanation.

Locksmith Connections Response • Jan 23, 2020

I have read your complaint. I understand that you felt cheated once you compared your experience with others and would like an explanation. The locksmith stated that he told your the price before working on the service and that he had you signed before working. He had to place a commercial lever, as opposed to a residential lever. The commercial levers are more experience compared to the residential lever. One you agreed to have the service done, he worked on the door. It is to my understanding that you were satisfied and gave him a 12 dollar tip. Based on your comments and the locksmith comments, we found no abnormal service or pricing.

I’m loss for words with the service I received from this company. I would give 0 stars however it is not an option.

I called to have a key replacement for my car . I was told someone will be calling me I received a car with in 20 mins of my 1st car the guy seem a little sketchy from the start he meet me at one of the houses I own and walk up to my vehicle turn to me and said $220 I said what does that include he said thats the cost for this vehicle I than ask why so high from original price he said what kind car is this I told him he said hold on went to his car I looked it up I can do $185 plus the service fee I said ok he than said he needed to hold $50 for deposit I gave it to him he than sat in his van for around 40 mins I than called the business and spoke to manager who was very rude and told me I could have went with another company if I had any concerns the tech than came back out and said this is key im not sure if its program I have another job right now and also ypur battery is dead I said hold on im going to try key he said ok. Handed me a paper with his number I turn to go try key he pulled off I notice battery was dead replace it called tech said there's nothing he can do hes out of town I than called locksmith requesting refund or new key the manager told me the tech manager will call me back I waited 2 days no call nothing called today call kept dropping finally manager got on call told me to not call I can catch a fade hung up on me was very rude and ghetto I called requested company's address to file complaint was told to get it in blood and no information or services wont be fixed this is the worst experience I have every had I have no working key key and out $220

Locksmith Connections Response • Dec 18, 2019

I have read your complaint. Our tech said he made you a key. If your key is not working, our tech can fix it. If you would like this please email me at locksmithconnections@***.com to arrange this.

I had a terrible experience with Locksmith Connections. Tony, the technician they sent out was rude and unprofessional. He tried to pick my lock, but was unable to. He claimed that my run of the mill, $10 lock was too complex to pick, so he had to drill the entire thing. Once he drilled my lock, he did not give me the option to replace it, which is standard practice. Tony also tried to take a picture of my credit card (the side that includes my credit card number and verification code) claiming that he needed a photo even though I had already shown him my ID. I was charged $194 for the terrible service and incredibly rude attitude. At the end of it all, he left, leaving two broken drill bits behind.
When I called the dispatchers to report the technician's poor attitude and service, they said that they'd call me back, but didn't. I had to follow up twice. When I finally spoke to the dispatcher, Ronnie, he claimed that I had sent the technician away before he could offer to replace the lock. I told them that this was inaccurate, but they kept insisting that's what happened. In the end, they didn't apologize and claimed that there was nothing else they could do.
Please avoid this company at all costs and go with a well-rated technician who has good reviews and actually knows what they're doing. Maybe you won't spend $194 and end up with a drilled out lock, a big mess, two broken drill bits, and a lot of frustration.

On their web page they are saying many good things about their company but fail to mention they don't know who they are really dispatching out to give you service and also don't make you aware the lock smith they send out work for themselves, so if anything go wrong like my situation they have nothing to do with it. They told me they are just a dispatching service and not responsible for the lock smith mess ups, for me to contact the locksmith. When I first call them too tell them the mess made they said no one sent him out to my home when the locksmith stood there and should me where they sent him a text message. What kind of way is that to do business. They keep having different numbers on their website it's confusing and frustrating.
The locksmith messed up the ECU in my daughter car she has been without her car for three weeks. He said he was sending us a new ECU but had a nasty attitude and disrespectful.
Why would they send these kind of people to your home. It got so bad I had to call the sheriff.
Now we finally got the ECU but my daughter car will have to go to dealership I feel someone should be held responsible for this I shouldn't have to pay for what the locksmith messed up that they sent to do the job.

Hello. I have read your complaint and I am also confused. I have information that the job was cancelled. If you have a receipt or additional information, maybe I could help. Please send to locksmithconnections@***.com.

I called Locksmith Connections to receive a service to unlock my two front doors. Multiple phone numbers called me including the number I initially called to set up the appointment plus an additional number from the technician who actually came to my place of residence. The price of the service quickly rose from $250-$400! I did not receive a recipe and the technician wanted me to pay through venmo. I called two days later asking for confirmation of this service and the “supervisor” could not even provide me with the name of the technician who completed service at my place of residence. I told them it is high priority that they call me back and I am still waiting. I believe this company is a complete scam!!! When I dig through the website more, it is strange that the “contact us” section is for Waldorf, MD when this business is in San Francisco. So many red flags with hindsight bias.

Locksmith Connections Response • Aug 31, 2019

I have read your complaint. Your desired settlement is for us to shut down our website and your are desputing 371 dollars. Based on the information you provided, it's unclear to me what scamming took place and why a refund is requested. The locksmith serviced you and the amount was agreed on before servicing 2 doors. You stated that a receipt was not given to you but I have checked our records and one was sent through email to you on August 24th. I also want you to be aware that our main office/dispatch is located Waldorf Maryland and our techs live and service multiple areas. We do have a few numbers, tech numbers, 1800 numbers, office numbers in order to manage. I do not understand the venmo comment, especially since your service is documented in our system.

I was told the price for the technician to come out was $29 flat. I told them I wasn’t locked out of my car just needed the broken key fragment in the ignition taken out so I’m able to unlock my steering wheel. I specifically asked how much the price would be just to remove the key fragment since I have already taken apart the steering wheel and didn’t have the tool to open up the ignition casing, and the lady told me it will be $75 but could be more as the tech would have to look at what he has to deal with and what tools he has to use. I told the lady the $29 was fair to me for the tech to come out but that afterwards I’m only paying the $75 which she agreed with after I convinced her I didn’t need a key made nor did I need for the door to get unlocked and that using one or two simple tools just to remove a key fragment shouldn’t cost me $149. Tech finally got to my location about 11:15 am. He looked at the car I explained to him everything and he finally removed the fragment in 2 minutes. Afterwards got my invoice for me and said my total is $149. Which is ridiculous because he didn’t have to make a key or unlock the car for me just remove a shard in the ignition. This company needs to refund me half of that amount at least. They should be more specific or at least tell you what services are what price and what tools the tech uses will cost more and how much time you are being charged once the tech gets to your location and starts to work on your car. This company has too many hidden fees and they charge you the same amount no matter what service they do for you or what tool they use. Complete scam if you ask me. I will no longer use this in the future and will spread this to everyone I know including my blogs and social media’s. Be true to your own words and honest about your prices.

Locksmith Connections Response • Sep 01, 2019

I have read your complaint. You explained that you had negotiated prices to the dispatch. Our dispatch are not the professional locksmith who have the knowledge to service your needs but can gather information and explain services to customers. We have a rate for the locksmith to drive to you, instead of you towing your vehicle somewhere. Then, the locksmith will explain what is needed to be done to fix your problem. The dispatch can relate any information discussed to the tech, however, dispatch are not the experience locksmith. There are no hidden fees, when the experience locksmith reviewed your situation, this is the price he wanted to service you to fix your issue. Final prices can not be given before the locksmith physically looks at the problem because they never know what work needs to be done to solve the issue, thus the reason we don't have set prices to share with you through our dispatch.

I wish I could give ZERO Stars. I am not one to take the time to leave a review but this is the worst company I have ever worked with. The broke the entire locking mechanism on my car and refused to acknowledge this was a result of their service let along refund the $150 they charged me.

I first contacted this company when my key fob went missing, with the goal of programming a new key. They told me that they did not have a *** key in stock, and that it would take 3-5 business days to order one to my location. I was navigating a family emergency where I needed a vehicle immediately, so I told them I would call back and let them know about ordering the key. Once I called back and confirmed I wanted the key ordered, they told me they would proceed with doing that and that it would take 3-5 business days. While I was out of town, they called me to follow up to ask me if I would like to order the key, and which point I communicated that I was under the impression that the key was already ordered. They told me that they required a deposit to order the key, so I proceeded to pay them a 100 dollar deposit and was told the key would be in in 3-5 business days. Once 5 business days had elapsed, I called (as I had to do many times in order to get any information/updates) and was told that the key was not in yet and that it would be in on mid-day Tuesday (today). Today, when I called for a status update, I was asked for my VIN number, and told that someone would be in contact after lunch. 3 hours later, I call and am told that the wrong key was ordered and that it would be another 3 business days before the key would be in. When I asked for my deposit back, I was told that "this is a deposit, we cannot refund a deposit" despite them having ordered the incorrect key, and just reordering a new key that same day.

I locked my keys in my vehicle. I called Locksmith Connections. The lady on the phone asked me my car model, then told me it would be $29.99 service fee and $30.00 to $35.00 to get the car open. She asked did I still want the tech to come out, I said yes. She told me they could take my payment by card or cash. The tech called and said he was on his way. 2 hours later, he showed up. He got out of the van saying "There is a $29.99 charge for coming out." He looked at my car and said "This is a German car, it will cost $89.00 to get it open."
I said "But the lady on the phone told me 30 to 35." He said "NO, it's $85.00 for a German car. Do you want me to get your keys. If not you still pay $29.99 for service call."
They knew I needed my keys. He got my keys and I paid him. We called their office back and the lady was rude and hung up on us. We called again and spoke to the manager and SHE said WE got a DEAL cause most people pay $200.00 or more.
All the tech did was put the air bag in the door seal, blow it up and pop the lock. IT'S THE SAME FOR EVERY CAR ON THE ROAD. IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT KIND OF CAR.

Locksmith Connections Response • Jul 20, 2019

Our dispatch are not certified locksmiths who can quote prices over the phone. Our dispatch can only state the service fee and starting price to your type of service. The locksmith can not give a quoted price over the phone because they need to see the problem to find a solution since there are many methods and types of vehicles. We reviewed our recordings and found no miscommunication with dispatch. We are sorry that there was a misunderstanding and we will use this response to further improve our communication over the phone.

Locksmith Connections Response • Aug 05, 2019

I am sorry to hear that you reject our response. As previously stated before, dispatch can not give quotes over the phone. The locksmith needs to review your situation at site to give you a quote. Once he reviews your car, he will give you a quote and you could either preceded or reject the quote. We do not have set rates that dispatch could read off to you. The locksmith is the professional that has the tools and knowledge. Only he can tell you the quote. I'm sorry to hear that there was a miscommunication. We reviewed your phone records to investigate your case.

Customer Response • Aug 06, 2019

This dispute will not be resolved because this company is insistent that the office cannot give quotes, but they do and they did. Also, their employee came out and used the SAME TECHNIQUE OPENING MY GERMAN CAR AS THEY WOULD HAVE USED FOR ANY OTHER CAR . They are dishonest and they misrepresent themselves. They know people NEED to get INTO THEIR VEHICLE, so they take advantage of the situation.

I will remember this company, make sure I tell other people and never use them again.

Regards

I was strong armed into paying $888. It was late and I was stranded and had lost my car keys. No other service would answer me but they did. I asked how much their service would cost and they hd told me it would be around $130 which was a lot already but I was willing to pay it. When the technician came I asked how much he thought it would cost and he had told me it would be $510 without any real reason. Again I didn't have a choice so I was still willing to pay but hesitant. After everything was said and done and he handed me the key the bill came out to $888 which was way more than I had but because I was stranded I had to pay it to be able to get back home. I felt taken advantage of because of my vulnerable situation. I called the following day and got in touch with a manager and he had told me that the bill was far more than what they usually charge and I was told he would give me a call back once he gets in touch with the technician that helped me but I didn’t receive a call back. I called two more times asking to file a complaint and request a partial refund for being overcharged but they became evasive and told me they would call me back with some resolution but they were not helpful and very deceitful. I do not recommend locksmith-connections to anyone

Locksmith Connections Response • Jun 18, 2019

Absolutely horrible! The same as another reviewer had stated, that when you Google locksmith in your area they came up first, it seems that it doesn't matter where you are. Exact same story. They came installed horrible mismatched locks. The installer was rude and aggressive and bullying and said that I needed to pay for what he did. I told him I was not happy with the work he did and I was not going to pay. He actually broke the lock on my front door. I actually told him he could have the opportunity to come back the next day to fix the issues and then get paid. He came the next day almost 2 hours late with an attitude from the start. Kept calling me bro, cursing under his breath, when I asked him to step outside out of my house because I felt afraid and threatened by his behavior, he told me , no wonder your husband left you!!! The nerve of this installer was beyond belief! I agree that they should somehow be removed from the Google search. There is not one positive review of this company! Nothing but outright lies and scam and rip-offs, bordering on Criminal!

My son was locked out of his apartment last night. He called this company to get his door unlocked, as the key was locked inside the apartment. They sent out a technician who had trouble opening the lock, who then determined he'd have to drill through the cylinder to open the door. He drilled, removed the cylinder, then still couldn't open the door. He told my son he'd have to get another tool from his car, took the cylinder, left the building, and did not return. Nor did he return my son's repeated phone calls. So it was 1 am, my son still couldnt' get into his apartment and there was a hole in the door where the cylinder used to be. Luckily we live across town so he *** to us and slept there. I have called Locksmith Connections four times today, asking them to make this right and to fix the unfinished job. I finally called another locksmith who was able to unlock the door in literally one minute. So I just spent $135 replacing a lock that did not need to be replaced and I cannot get anyone from this horrible company to respond.
