Locksmith Connections sent a contracted locksmith out to help us when our friends were locked out of their apartment. The locksmith used a drill to gain entry. Three days later the lock jammed and the door handle/knob became inoperable. When we contacted Locksmith Connections, they refused to connect us with the locksmith and they were abusive in their communication as we looked to have them or the locksmith revisit the apartment to assess the situation.

The technician immediately used a drill to open the lock when he arrived.

According to Shareeda, the representative at the Locksmith Connections call center, the technician should have attempted to pick the lock without using a drill before taking that step in the process.

Thank you for sending the information of the person who had the service. I am unsure why you have sent us a complaint since you are not the person serviced but I will respond to ***

To ***:

I have reviewed the comments of the job serviced and listen to the phone recordings. I understand that a locksmith was sent to your location to unlock your door. He quoted you a price to open the door and you agreed to have your door open. He used a pick tool to get you inside your home; I understand that you thought he drilled the lock. Three days later, you returned from a vacation at your parents’ house and found the lock inoperable. It seemed as if the lock worked prior to that, according to your explanation. You called us three days later and suggested that the lock was damaged somehow by the locksmith when he picked the lock. You stated that we “refused to connect us with the locksmith and they were abusive in their communication as we looked to have them, or the locksmith revisit the apartment” I have listen to all of the recordings and found that our supervisor had tried to call you back. She left a message and one number did not work. You then called us back after that message and spoke to our supervisor. I find that she was not abusive, but defensive because you placed a lot of pressure on her suggesting that the locksmith broke the lock and that we would charge you again. The supervisor was frustrated because she never said those things and she felt as if you were putting words in her mouth. She tried her best to be helpful and to sent you a locksmith to look at your situation. To my understanding, the locksmith did not go to service you because he said he could not do anything. He said that it was not a problem that occurred from what he did for you three days ago. According to the locksmith, it is not common for a lock to break or latch to break from a lock pick. We do not agree with the settlement since our locksmith stated that he could not have damage the lock during a lock pick and he stated that your lock issues was a separate situation. If the locksmith found an issue with his performance or products, which can happen, he would have easily return to your home to fix the concern.

Gave one star because had to in order to register. Really it's zero stars! My family and I accidentally locked ourselves out of the house. Called a couple of places to get quotes. This place quoted us $15 for a service fee (just to come out) and $35 for the lock. It was just a basic lock --the kind that is on a doorknob. Great! They were by far the cheapest quote so we went with them. Big mistake. Some guy named "Tony" with a thick eastern European accent came and looked at the lock and said it would be $179 plus $35 for a service fee. Our jaws dropped. My husband said we were quoted by the company $15 service fee and $35 for the lock. He then proceeded to tell us that since it's a door, the charge is $179. My husband called the dispatcher right then, who said it's actually $35 and UP (never addressed why the service fee went from $15 to $35??). We told the guy to leave. I said that we had called another company who quoted $90. Then this "Tony" asked if we had cash. We said no, then he said he would just charge us $90 (after we told him to leave.) We refused. We asked him again to leave and we would just call someone else-- at this point we didn't want his service, he wasn't
a nice man. He said he wouldn't leave until the company told him to leave. My husband told him that he needed to get off our property, like how dare he refuse to leave someone's property! Are you kidding me? I guess he saw my husband was pretty serious, so he decided to leave. We called someone else and got into our house fine. Still trying to give the company the benefit of the doubt, after this experience, we called them twice to lodge a complaint. The first time, some guy hung up on my husband. The second time, a woman was placating me --once I told her we had the guy's license plate number. She couldn't tell me who she dispatched our info to so we could call them directly to complain. This place is a scam! Please note all the positive reviews on this site were written on the same date (5/14/17) almost like someone from the company wrote them to try to balance out the negative reviews. I hope they are also on yelp so I can write the same review. The guy we ended up using is Jack from *** Solutions. Super nice and did the job for the price quoted.

Their agent quoted us at $15 arrival and “starting at $30” price. These scummy scammy people... locksmith shows up and demands $179.

That’s waaaaaaay more than the quoted price! We called the agent who quoted us and they said “we’ll do you want to get into your home or not”. I’m sorry, how do you go from such a modest price to 3-4x the amount?!

The agent was super rude over the phone and even got mildly confrontational after I said I would leave a review of the service provided. To any and all potential customers- stay away from this website. Bait and switch, misleading, terrible customer service, and scummy business practices.

Locksmith Connections Response

First I would thank you for calling locksmith connections and unfortunately it looks as if there was a miscommunication. The dispatcher or sales representatives do not provide a total price only the $15 service charge and to open a residential house the starting price of $35. The reason being the technician needs to assess the job before knowing the total. He needs to see what type of lock you will be working with and which method best to gain entry into the residence. We record all calls between the customer and our agents adapter review of this call we did inform you of the $15 service charge and the $35 starting price.

I'm glad that we were able to assist you and gain entry into your residence and I apologize for any confusion.

They're a complete scam with no controls in place to protect the customer...
They quoted me $15 for the technician to arrive, then $35 for the service itself. They said it shouldn't take more than 30 minutes. One hour later, the locksmith shows up and tells me it's $200 to open the door, and the people on the phone have no idea what they're talking about. We tell him no, he goes down to $150. I say I'm even clearer now that it's a no, so he goes to $100. I speak to the dispatcher on the phone and cancel. I hand the guy a $20, tell him I'm sorry but I won't do business like this, and he proceeds to stand at my house and complain for quite a while. While I'm trying to get him to leave, the dispatcher then proceeds to call me SIX times straight, no voicemail. I pick up and told him I cancelled and would just like to move on. He then called me a F *** and hung up the phone on me. I called the main number to register a complaint, and they told me they have no way of knowing who called me (an ENORMOUS customer risk) and that they can't help me in any way.

The locksmith came to our house to unlock a vehicle that had the keys locked inside.
We were told the price would be a minimum of $50. The technician arrived and unlocked the car in less than 5 minutes and the price was $125. After talking to a representative of the company the price was reduced to $90, still almost twice the quote.
I doubt that they ever charge $50,if so, very infrequently.
If you give them the make, model and year of the car why couldn't they give you the exact price?
If they told me the price was going to be $90 initially and I agreed, I would not be complaining.

Locksmith Connections Response • Jan 12, 2018

Dear Mr.
I have read your complaint and understand that you feel that the price to unlock your door should be $50. Our dispatch informed you over the phone that the service call to have an appointment for the locksmith to come to you would be $15. They further stated that the starting price of this service started at $35 and can be more depended on your situation and the expertise needed to get into your type of vehicle. Locksmithing is not a simple all n one approach. Our locksmiths are experienced and skilled to get customers into their vehicle quickly without damaging the door. They spend hours in training and need to keep up with their license requirements. You asked a questions about why our dispatch can not give you an exact price quoted over the phone. Our dispatch can not quote prices over the phone. Our dispatch are not licensed skilled locksmith who can give prices. The locksmith needs to be at the site to see how to assess the situation and then give you a quote after reviewing. Even if the locksmith has the make and model, he still needs to view the situation to understand how to best use his knowledge to get your car unlock. Each customer’s situation is unique, therefor there is not a set price to give over the phone. Our locksmith quoted you a price of $125. We understand that you had negotiated the price to be much lower to $90. The locksmith then agreed to do this type of work for that amount because he was already there and he had already spent so much of his time getting to you. Asking a licensed locksmith who is trained and skilled to open doors quickly without damaging your vehicle for even a lower price is unethical to us. He is a professional and I can not ask him to lower his price even more. I can ensure you that you got a great deal and can ensure you that our rates are competitive with other locksmith companies.

Do not do business with Locksmith Connections! I've seen multiple complaints on the exact same issue. They give you a fee to send the driver out. The driver takes no more than 10 minutes to unlock your vehicle. You are told on the phone before the technician arrives the fee will be $50 total. $15 for the driver to get to you, $35 to unlock the car. They tell you if it's anything more than the "standard" unlock, they'll let you know of the upcharge before they fix whatever else may be wrong. My unlock was standard. Less than 10 minutes. My technician used his square device to charge my card which did not read a total charge amount. When I double checked the charge and called their office, their Supervisor was unprofessional, very clearly chain smoking and said there was no information on their end as to why the charge was increased. Just that it wasn't the standard unlock. Luckily I've been able to dispute the charge through my bank but JUST SAY NO to Locksmith Connections. This company is preying on those who are in tough situations and feel desperate for help.

Locksmith Connections Response

First I would like to thank you for using locksmith connections. I understand that maybe there was some miscommunication but when you call there is no price given other than the minimum starting price. For the vehicle unlock service yes we have a $15 service charge and the price to unlock the vehicle door starts at $35. Once the locksmith arrives on site you then provides the total charge I understand you said it was less than 10 minutes but we are trying to get you back into your vehicle as quickly as possible.

All of our calls are recorded between customers and the dispatch, I have reviewed your call and we did inform you of the $35 starting price I'm sorry but there was a miscommunication but again we give no flat prices over the phone due to the technician needing to assess that job before he starts.

Very disappointed with Locksmith Connection lost my house key on 11/09/17 .15 +35.00 to send someone out .Needed too get in my house I was told 25 minutes to get there 35 later ok.They charge me 204.00 dollars to drill the lock took about 5 minutes are you kidding.Guess they know your in a in a bad situation so they charge you way to much what can you do? Realy a bad deal hope no one will use them call another locksmith.

Today morning I called the Locksmith connection service and over the phone they told me they can open my locked door with 15 dollar for coming to my house and 35 dollar for service fee. When they came to my house they charge me 150 dollar. The technician took only 30 to 40 second to open my lock with only one screw driver. When I called them again about the bill they told me that the service fee will start with 35 dollar which one they did not tell that before. and also for only 30 second service and charge 150 dollar is not reasonable. I would like to request you to look over the locksmith connection as I am feeling that they are taking advantage of the people's bad situation.

Locksmith Connections Response

First I would like to thank you for calling locksmith connections for your emergency locksmith need. Unfortunately it looks as if there was some sort of miscommunication. For the residential lockout service we have a $15 service charge and the price starts at $35 to gain entry into the residence. We do not provide any total price or charge over the phone, the reason being the technician needs to assess the job before starting. He needs to consider what type of Lockheed will be working with and which method to actually open the door. After the initial assessment he is able to provide the total price.

We record we record all calls between our customers and dispatch, after review of your call we did inform you of the $15 service charge and the starting price of $35. I understand it only took 30 to 40 seconds to actually unlock the door but we are trying to get you back in as quickly as possible, we are in emergency service and would rather get you back in within 30 to 40 seconds compared to 30 to 40 minutes.

Again again I apologize for any confusion or miscommunication but I'm glad that we were able to help you get back into your home.

This company headqtrs is the address listed but they send out employees from different states. I called their Derry Londonderry NH store to see if they made *** Keys. They did and I asked to come in to have a key made.Told they come out to home said several times I could drive there told cost is only $15 to come out Key would cost $120 asked other questions and told they didn't want to lose my business and would work with price as I felt 120 for a key was a lot. When the tech came out I was told key was 120 but chip had to be activated. They were going to give me a 10%discount also said on phone earlier. By now I needed to start getting ready for work and other things with time lost thinking key would be $120 + $15 for service. Activating chip was not mentioned on phone call prior. It cost a total of $357 for one key no remote buttons. I was told if I went to dealer it would cost more and I would have to wait hours. I called dealer today and 2 keys would be $160 and with chip activated total of $200 for 2 keys 1 hour waiting time. Called Company service person immed. and told mgr would call, didn't. Called Mon. morn. service person said she was mgr. Won't give address to contact Revdex.com. Called address listed said yes Derry Londonderry is part of their company and I shouldn't have agreed to price. Explained lost time and mislead as stated above to get key made and would miss work time by then. He said every car dealer would cheat me and his service was cheaper as his tech told me at the time.

Locksmith Connections Response

Tell us Dear Customer,
I would first like to clearly state that we are a mobile locksmith service and not a store. I am sorry to hear your disappointment about the price of the car key for your ***. I must state that I am not able to fully understanding your statement, however, I understand that you feel that there is a pricing concern compared to a local dealer that you have contacted afterwards. It is our profession, to provide customers a locksmith who can come to you for convenience. Our locksmiths cannot give a price over the phone because they are in need to look at the problem in order to find a solution. I am assuming that the dealerships that you may have contacted may also need to make price changes once they have viewed the problem after they have given a quote over the phone. Our locksmiths come to our customers, so our customers do not have to pay for a tow to the dealership. Therefore, you should also consider the time and tow expense with the quote the dealership suggested. Based on your statement, Locksmith Connections cannot offer a refund for a *** key replacement for the price you suggested. It was difficult to understand your statement, but we found no wrong doing from the locksmith provided to you. here...

Locksmith Connections Response

Tell us why I understand your concern. I would like to explain to you that your vehicle requires two special codes, called a token. These codes are expensive for the locksmith to purchase and program. We do not price match with other companies and we are uncertain how or why other companies, such as the dealership you contacted, come up with their prices. I would also like to explain again, that we are a mobile service, we do not advertise a store front address. I would also like to state, that our locksmiths never perform services unless it is agreed upon. Our locksmiths evaluate the situation, quote a price, and if agreed, perform the service. ...

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because: I told the customer service girl in Derry NH at least 3 times I could come to the store where she finally stated we don't do that we come to you. I responded so there has to be a higher cost for the key for you to come to my home. She said, no it's only $15 and we will work with you on the price when I told her I felt $120 was too much for a key. She well wait we don't want to lose your business and mis-lead me to think it would be less than the $120 because she would give me a promotion of 10% off. I was looking for someplace I could go and have just the key carved out ( I have high cost chronic medical cost and need to not waste money.)

Regards

After taking off work for a tech to show up, they were a no show. After my first call back to them they said that the service call was canceled and then reissued a request and assured me that the tech would call in a few minutes. 45 minutes later I call back and they tell me that they can not make the key for a Honda. I restated for the third time that I was also wanting other keys made for regular locks, to which they replied they can not do those either. CRAPPY COMMUNICATION and HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Just had the worst experience with Locksmith Connections. They lied about the amount of service, were extremely unprofessional, rude, would not provide name, cursed at me and then hung up on me. I do not recommend that anyone use this business. EVER!!!!

Do not use this company! I was quoted $15 to come out and $35 to unlock. I was then charged $180 to have the locksmith unlock my door in less than 5 minutes.
Then, even though I called the local office at +1 (215) 395-2861 (abington pa), the next day my credit card was used in Waldorf, MD (the same location as the main office) at a D! Coincidence? So that is another $68.68! Fortunately I was able to cancel the card before any more damage was done. My credit card company is pursuing a fraud claim.
I called to request a refund, but was treated very rudely by the person who answered the call and the supervisor.
Do not use this business!

Locksmith Connections Response

Locksmith Connections apologizes for any misunderstanding. It is our goal to send our customers a professional and experienced locksmith who has the expertise to open doors quickly without damage. It is very important that our locksmiths don’t waste any of our customers’ valuable time. In addition, our locksmiths do not perform any task without permission from the customer.
We are also very confused about an order made to a pizza company. We have tried to help you with your problem. It is an unfortunate situation however, we are happy to hear that no damage was done. We understand your frustrations and please understand that we tried our best to help. Thank you for informing us.

Customer Response

I'm sorry. What specifically did you do to try to help me? I was told by 3 separate people at your company that there was nothing they could do. Your company is a scam. If you wanted to do something, you'd refund my money.
