Review: I was contacted by a Mad City Representative who went door to door trying to sell their products on a free trial. I agreed to the free estimate, with no obligation to buy and for doing so I was promised a gift card or free dinner. On the 19th of January, 2015, the rep for Mad City, [redacted], came to my home. He did conduct a free estimate and did guarantee services such as trim around a new window, which would be custom made due to the odd size of the older glass block windows that were being replaced and new wood inside that is fresh and mesh. It was guaranteed if I did this, with finance, that I would have 0.0% APR on this loan as well. I was given a two week time line for completion as well as told I would receive the gift card too. I agreed because it sounded like a great deal. They said that the order would go in for the window that next week and the following week we would have the window in and ready to go, since we told them we were on a tight deadline as we are selling this house to move. The contractors came the following Monday, January 26th and did their measurements and such. They however, said that it was going to take more like 4 weeks to complete this project, at which point we protested and they said they would get it sooner. We were not happy and it was too late to cancel at that time. We contacted the company and they said it would be sooner. I was finally contacted on the 13th of February to see if the window could be put in on the 16th, the following Monday. I was in agreement with this because as previously stated, I need to get this done. The workers came in with a window that was much smaller that what they measured for. It needed to be braced with 2x4s in many places, not something we agreed to. They did not replace the other wood or make it mesh with the walls as agreed. They also gave us a window that would not lock! In between contacting the company and this, I received a letter from GreenSkye company, not Wells Fargo as promised, stating they had my loan, as Sordahl, not [redacted] and that there was interest. I was promised NO INTEREST. Needless to say, we were not happy and contacted the company again. I am not going to pay that massive amount of work for this! The company said they would look into the loan interest issue and would have to send out a manager. They did call me back on the loan APR issue and said it was taken care of, there is no interest on this loan. It has been over a month now, mind you, when guaranteed two weeks. The manager finally came on February 23rd, he wasn't listening to everything we were saying at first and then finally we got through to him when mentioning filing a complaint. I was livid. He said he would call us for sure with new ways to make this okay by that evening or early this morning February 24th, 2015. I have heard nothing and haven't received the initial gift card. I also contacted the GreenSkye company myself to find out about the APR issue as it was not sitting well with me. Why say interest, when there is no interest. This is all so wrong!Desired Settlement: I am just outraged right now and I want there to be a billing adjustment for sure. What I would like to see, since there is interest on this loan and this is my credit they lied to be about and are messing with, a Paid in Full to the credit company. I do not think that I need to pay for this at all. I was lied to and lied to and then lied to. My bathroom looks awful as well. I want them to come and fix this as well. I do not think that I should have to pay for this with all the lies and deception. I want a new, right sized window put in for nothing! I will take this to court if I have too I have documentation and paperwork. The only way I will pay anything is if they bring in a new, correct window, install it correctly, by the end of this moth 1st week of next and I will not do financing I willl get a bill that I make payments on and it will not affect my credit! That bill will be 1/4 of the previous amount also so I will only pay 275.00 rather than 11000. I have already paid 50.00 of that amount. Please help to fix this!

Mad city contracted for a window with this customer on 1-19-15. We were aware that the customer needed the window done in a hurry. As stated in the complaint our measure tech did inform the customer it could take four weeks. The customer immediately called the office at which point our production manager informed them this is a standard statement from our measure tech to set expectations as is can take up to four weeks. Our production manager did inform the customer that the window could possibly come in within two weeks but with the options selected of the window being tempered and obscured it could take three at worst case scenario. The measure appointment was on 1-26-15. The window was ordered on 1-27-15. Our scheduling assistant spoke with the customer on 2-4-15 and informed her that per our production managers info that the window should be in by 2-16-15 that we could pre schedule the install for 2-17-15. The install took place on 2-17-15 at which time our team was able to complete the install. During the install we removed the glass blocks that were in place and replaced the rotted framing that was below the window. These are the 2x4s the customer is stating they can see. We installed our window in the exact size opening the glass block occupied. The window installed was the exact size the customer contracted for. During the install the customers father who was working on the home and had all interior walls demoed informed us that he would finish the interior trim of the window when he put up new sheetrock/wall covering. The outside of the window was completed. The customer's father did a standard procedure close out call with the installer and our production manager at which time he stated he was happy with the install.

When the production team was informed that the customer had concerns with the install we set our field manager to meet with the customer on 1-23-15. During his visit with the customer, the father is the person who carried the conversation and expressed his concerns with the window install. He mentioned how there was a nail sticking out and visible. Our field manager showed him that this was an old trim nail not installed by Mad City but original to the home and that it was not visible other than the fact there was no sheetrock on the wall. The customers father also stated to our field manager that the window was not installed flush with the interior. Our field manager was able to show the father that the window was installed properly and this issue was due to the lack of proper wall finishing that were specific to the part of the remodel the customer was doing themselves. The father pointed out to our field manager that there were a couple of existing boards around the window that were discolored. This is due to previous moisture issues as the window opening was located in a shower. Although these boards were originally accepted by the father during our original installation, our field manager agreed to remove the window and replace these two discolored boards in order to go above and beyond to satisfy the customer. The only words exchanged between [redacted] and our field manager were about the time frame we could complete this service in. He told [redacted] that we could come back and perform these tasks by either the end of the week or the beginning of the following week. He informed her he would check the openings we had in our schedule and call her back within a couple days. Our field manager called the customer on 1-25-14 to schedule the appointment. He was informed by the customer's mother that [redacted] was not home. The mother asked who was calling and we replied Nate from Mad City and we were trying to contact [redacted] to set up the service for her window. The mother then asked us to wait a minute and when she returned we were told that [redacted] was unavailable and that we should contact [redacted]'s father who would handle this situation for service. At this point we called the father and his phone went straight to voice mail. We left a message for him to call us back to set the service appointment. We have yet to hear back from the customer.

Response to desired settlement- Mad City installed the correct sized window per contract and the install is done properly. We cannot agree to give the customer any sort of discount or a different window. The customer or her father has still yet to contact us about the service of the window that we were going to perform as a courtesy or about any other issues.

I had Mad City Windows out for an estimate & regret ever talking to them! They use high pressure sales tactics like lowering the estimate if you sign right now & use their financing, no time to think about their products or their company. Their product looked good though & we decided to sign with them & were immediately hassled non stop to set up an appointment for measurements. We received 9 voice-mails in 2 days, 7 of them on the same day & two of the calls were only 8 minutes apart. Needless to say we have canceled our order with them! A professional company does not hassle their customers in this way, only hacks! Do not use Mad City Windows if you care about quality service

It took almost 3 months to get a door ordered & installed.

High pressure sales. Overpriced.

Bad communication (i.e. had to call NUMEROUS times to get the door installation scheduled).

Take your business elsewhere.

Very professional installation. Installers were polite and cleaned up after themselves. Cost was high but promised energy efficient windows; appear to be high quality windows.

We were so happy the first time we used Mad City for replacement windows, we didn't hesitate to use them again.

Pleasant contractors to have come into our home. Able to come watch progress anytime we wished. Routinely came and showed us how things were progressing. Had opportunities to ask questions. Always called us Sir or Mam, so formal. Cleaned up mess and even swept the driveway! I love this tub and am so glad I had bumped into them at Walmart in Beaver Dam, even tho I live in Rosendale. I dont think my husband is too [redacted] anymore. lol. A great experience.

The work was done good . Very nice person. Very satisfied

Great experience! !! Excellent job, the Mad City Crew was very respectful, friendly and left nothing behind clean very well after the job was done the professional and quality work can be seen every day on the front of my house.

Review: I had new Windows put in they leak air thru them . they have been here to try to fix them. when I called to complain they said the Windows were sealed properly why do I feel cold air coming thru the Windows.the Windows and installation are suppose to be guaranteed. they don't return my phone calls. tired of fighting with them to get fixed.Desired Settlement: fix Windows properly.or refund my money.

Mad City has contacted the customer to address this situation. We do not have any record of the customer calling since 6/19/2014. We have scheduled a manager to inspect the windows on December 21st and have made sure the customer has a proper phone number to contact us in the future.

Review: We signed a contract to have our livingroom picture window installed. It took over 6 weeks to have the "custom size" window made. They sent a "specialist" out to remeasure the window, and finally installed it over two months later. The installers were over 2 hours late with no phone call to let us know they would be late. They said their trailer axle broke, so they had to pick up another trailer. They didn't have the insullation, trim boards, ladder, caulk or caulk gun, and several other items needed to complete the job. We provided these items to them. The window was too small and they had to finagle spare boards to get it to fit in. Mind you it was only 20 degrees out and our house was freezing for over 2 hours. They did nothing to close off the living room to help keep the rest of the house warm as promised by the sales rep. We were very disappointed with the whole process and especially that the window wasn't even the right size. They said they would take $500 off our $3200 window for the inconvenience. We've seen nothing in writing to confirm that the $500 was taken off. They did call the production manager, [redacted], to confirm the $500 would be taken off the purchase price. The window is not trimmed off, and leaks cold air. We have moisture on the inside of the window. They came out after the installation to inspect the job, and told us the installers would be back to either put the right sized window in like they should have in the first place, or to fix the current window to make it fit right. That was mid November, it's not Jan 4th, 2015, and we still have not had resolution or company follow up and we're already on our third payment to them. We were supposed to receive a $60 gift card, and have not even received that.Desired Settlement: My husband and I paid for a premium window and would like them to complete the job the right way. We also want the $500 taken off the purchase price and our $60 gift card as promised.

Mad City has resolved this customers concerns as of 1-24-15. We had been in contact in person and by phone a few times before we received notice from the Revdex.com that a complaint had been filed. It appears as though this was file with the Revdex.com shortly before they made first contact with Mad City. The customer was given a 500 dollar discount upon install of the window and is able to confirm this by the adjusted statement from the finance company that funded the job. Currently there is no outstanding service for this customer and they have been credited the 500 dollar discount

Review: I called the company to ask for a quote on 5 windows in my home. They sent an estimator to my house on Saturday December 14th. at 9am. I mentioned that I had to be done before 11:30 for another appointment. The estimator arrived and gave me a hard sell on replacing 10 of my windows at a price of about $1000.00 a piece. I told him the monthly amount was too much but he said that if I at least commit to the deal he would let me sign an agreement to void the deal within 3 working days. That Monday morning I called the office first thing around 8am to find out how long they were open to drop off the refusal paperwork that had to be received by midnight on 12/18. The person on the phone said they would send out someone to pickup the paperwork on Tuesday the 17th.

[redacted] the sales manager came and asked questions about the original salesperson. At that time he stated that my credit report already "took a hit" as he put it. I told him that I called first thing on Monday and told them I was canceling the offer and asked him when they did the credit check. He said it was on that Tuesday morning. I told him why did they do that when I called on Monday and asked to cancel the order? He changed his story and said that it was done the day the original sales person dropped it off in the drop box on Saturday. But now because I canceled the order, they were going to put a bad mark on my credit.

There is nothing on the cancellation agreement that says that a negative mark would be put on your credit record if you cancel the order in that time frame. It simply states that I would have 3 working days to change my mind.

He then tried to hard sell me on one room of windows, which I declined. When that didn't work he tried to talk me into buying just one window. When I declined again, he told me that my credit record was now going to take a bad mark on it. No where in any of the paperwork I signed does it state if the job is canceled that they will leave a bad mark on your credit.

This is an unethical way to do business to threaten and cause damage to someones credit report because they changed their minds within a time that was allowed by the company.

I was also supposed to receive a $25.00 gas card for having them come and give me a quote. That was never offered or talked about by the manager. So they lied about that in the first place.Desired Settlement: I want Mad City to take this bad mark off my credit report period. If this keeps me from getting a loan down the road or into a higher interest rate, I will look to litigate the mater in court. I don't care about the gas card, I just want them to take off that mark on my credit that they threatened me with.

To Whom It May Concern;

THE SALE PERSON GREAT EXPLANING THE WINDOWS.
THE INSTALLERS DID GREAT JOB. ALL EDGES WERE SEALED SO THER WOULD BE NO AIR LEAKS. THE WINDOWS LOOK GREAT.
THANK YOU.

The sales person was very professional and answers all our questions and concerns to our complete satisfaction. The Installation crew was on time and their work was outstanding. They did a great job cleaning up after the installation of our windows and explained how to maintain and correctly operate the windows. Mad City Windows has now replaced all the windows in our townhome. We are very satisfied with the entire staff and highly recommend them to anyone considering window replacement.

I had 6 windows replaced in my 20 year old home. I was very pleased with the professionalism and workmanship from the representative that came to my home to the installers. We did have a miscommunication snafu on the installation day and time, however. I did not receive a reminder confirmation call the day before nor did I receive a call the morning of the installation. I expected the installers to arrive around 8:30am or at least receive a phone call of an anticipated arrival time. I eventually called the company at 9:45am to confirm that the installation was still scheduled for that day. I left a voice message. I received an apologetic return call shortly after the installers arrived, which was around 10:30am.
Again, I was very pleased with the overall process and would recommend Mad City Roofing to my friends and family.

Review: We purchased thirteen windows from Mad City Windows. The sales persons had lied about pretty much the whole sales pitch. He told us the windows would be made right in Madison, but are not, being sound proof, energy efficient, and I could go on which would take for ever! The sales man measured out windows to give an estimate on the price it would be. He told us that within a few days someone would com e and measure windows to get the right measurements and when he showed up he no information,or paper work on our windows from the sales man and had to use our sheet. We were called that the windows were ready to be installed, when they came the windows were measured wrong, so we denied those windows and the contractor remeasured and reordered them.We set up a time day, when that day came they called and said that all his workers got sick on food, which we know they we lying about that, the works walked out on him, cause they weren't being paid for the jobs they done before. Then when our 2nd set of windows can we found that they had a manufacture defect in them,so when my window go up there is a gap in it , the window wasn't made square! They had 4 of the windows out before they caught this problem. We were advised to continue putting the rest in and that a 3rd set of windows were ordered. the windows are ready to be put in,but we can't agree on a price! We found out later after signing that they don't have a Contractors License, but now have one in Green Bay a month or more after we sign the contract. There's so much more to this, but we feel everything that we've gone through has been all lies and we feel that the windows are not worth what they want us to pay. We have checked with other company's and they have quoted 850-900 for windows. We offered them 1000 per window and said they wouldn't go for it,so I would like to have this resolved soon so that my house can get back to normal,I have things off walls and furniture moved away from the windows and its been 2 months!I have no windows that are not defect windows in my house. If you please help us resolve I would greatly appreciate it. thank youDesired Settlement: We offered them 1000 per window which is 13000x5.05%=13657-500=13157, the 500 is a down payment that we made when the sales was at the house. This is our offer 13,157.

Review: On May 8 ,2013; a sales representative from Mad City Bath( a division of Mad City Interiors) came to our home and we agreed to purchase an accessible tub, accessible shower, and surround walls from them. One of the reasons that we agreed to have these products and service provided by Mad City was their repeated assurance that it would be approx. 2 weeks to get the materials in and that the work would definitely be done by June 10. We paid $16,000 via credit card check at the time of order and this was the job paid in full. The next week another representative from Mad City came to our home and measured the spaces in the bathroom and again assured us that everything would go very smoothly, the parts would be in and installation would be complete by June 10, taking 2 days maximum to complete after beginning. After not hearing from them; I called Mad City on June 3 to inquire about the scheduling and was informed that due to a large surge in orders; they had not received the material from the factory yet and it would be several more weeks and then we would need to be put on the installation schedule. We set up the installation date of July 1 to pour cement and they would return on July 5 and 6 to complete the work. When the installation team arrived on July 1, they informed us that the job was larger than they had been informed and they didn't have enough cement with them to pour a shower pad. They asked if they could continue with the next steps of the job so they didn't waste the day and they were given permission to proceed with the removal of the existing shower and bathtub. At the end of this, Day 1, they informed us that they would be back on July 8 to pour the cement and they would be finished with the job by July 10....instead of the previously scheduled July 6. They returned on July 8 and began working. They worked on the 9th and 10th also and informed us on the 10th that there was an issue of not having enough wall materials and that due to the need to order them; they wouldn't be able to finish for another week. At this time, the bathtub was in place but not satisfactory due to being free standing with no surround therefore water had the ability to go behind and under the tub. It was still not usable. The installation crew arrived again on July 17 and was unable to finish the work this day also. The were unable to return the next day due to scheduling but did return on the 19th and complete the job late in the evening. At this time; everything appeared satisfactory but we had been unable to use our bathtub or shower for 19 days. We had additional work done in the bathroom by another person. This included replacing the flooring, completing the walls in the rest of the room, and mounting a television. This work was completed on 7/27 and we were able to use the bathtub 2 times before leaving on vacation on the 29th. We did not notice any obvious water leakage but had small puddles of water on the floor both times the tub was used. We returned from vacation on 8/12 and were finally able to use the bathtub again on 8/16. There was a fair amount of water on the floor after I bathed and I cleaned it up; thinking that I had spilled over the side. My husband then used the bathtub and reported a large amount of water on the floor. When one of our foster children went downstairs to her bedroom; she immediately came running back upstairs reporting that water was coming through her ceiling and pouring onto her things. My husband then looked underneath the tub and found a very large pool of water which had soaked the flooring and was seeping through to the floor below. It had also damaged the newly completed flooring in the bathroom. We immediately called Mad City Bath; on Friday night 8/16 and left messages with the service line. [redacted] from Mad City called me back at approx. 9:20 Friday night and said they would be out as soon as possible on Saturday or Monday. On Monday, my husband called and spoke with [redacted]; who said he would try to get here yet that afternoon. It is now Tuesday and they haven't come or called again. We have damaged flooring and ceiling tiles, an unusable bathtub, and large amounts of frustration. This was supposed to be a sanctuary and has turned into a nightmare. We have not received this either....talk about adding insult to injury.Desired Settlement: We would like all damage repaired and all equipment correctly functioning. We would like the WalMart gift card that was promised. We would like a letter of apology and possibly a partial discount refunded to us for all of the inconvenience, broken promises, damage to our home, and increased expenses of having to repair what they have damaged.

Response:

I would like to respond to complaint that was submitted by [redacted]. It did in fact take us some extra time to receive the material due to backorders put in place by our supplier. The job did start as the customer explains in their letter up until the 10th of July. At this point the customer explains that we did not have enough wall material to complete the job. The wall material that was ordered was in fact enough to complete the project in respect to the material layout that we had created with our measure tech. This information was relayed to the installer. I was contacted by the installer during installation, at which time he did inform me that we were short on wall material. We once again went over the planned layout. This is when he informed me that the customer decided to change the design and refused to have the wall seamed where we intended up higher towards the ceiling which is by our experience the best scenario for maintenance and aesthetics. The customer chose to have the wall material seamed at approximately four feet high from the floor. In this scenario our installer informed us it was estimated that we would end up 2-3 sheets of wall material short. I immediately ordered extra walls and asked that they be shipped as soon as possible. During the install [redacted] had visited the site. The customer had mentioned that they had not considered the need for a shower curtain and also referenced the Walmart gift card that they had not yet received. [redacted] at this point gave twenty five dollars from his pocket.

We recently had a tub and surround installed. It was time to upgrade from the 1960's bath. We are very happy with everything - from sales to install - everyone we have worked with at Mad City Bath have been great. Will definitely recommend them to everyone. The tub and surround were installed a couple weeks earlier than originally expected, YAY! The installers knew what they were doing and explained things along the way.

Salesman was very friendly. Workers doing the installation were also friendly answered all of our questions. They did a good job of installing and clean up. Windows look very good and hope they live up to the claims.

Review: Signed paperwork for new windows in November 2014. Once they arrived to be installed, realized they ordered incorrect sizes, so they had to build all of our windows in. Had to have them back to reseal most of them inside and out. Had them back again because 2 of the windows had already came off track/ broken off of them. Recently called them again because these windows are "guaranteed" no leakage, etc etc etc, they are fogging up random times of the day. Their first excuse was because we have curtains. Well, no we do not on most of the ones that are doing it. Nate said he would call us back. He didn't, so we called again. He then told us the manufacturer says it is a defect, and probably need to be replaced. We have been calling for 2 weeks now, and still no response back, or information as to what is going on with our $17000 defective windows.Desired Settlement: Would like the windows that we purchased to be replaced with the kind we were promised, as we are still waiting back to hear what they are going to do to fix the issue.

Mad City currently has spoken with the customer and is working on a resolution to the service issue. We have ordered a few new sashes and a glass pack to remedy what we believe to be a defect. When the parts arrive our Production Manager will meet with the customer and our service tech to perform the service and do a thorough inspection of the windows.

Review: There were many problems with Mad City Roofing when I started working with them to buy replacement windows. First - they utilize bait and switch advertising. I called on the $1499 for a whole house full of windows deal, but when their salesman came, he refused to even show me these windows, and said that he wouldn't sell them to me because they are a terrible product. He then showed me a set of windows guaranteed to lower my energy costs by 40%, the only other windows he would sell. He priced them at $12,000+, completely outrageous, and said this was a deal (the lowest he could go) and the offer could only be given to me if I bought same day. Very high pressure, and I could tell he was trying to take advantage of me as a young single female home owner. Knowing that I had 3 days to cancel, I signed for the deal and consulted with another company. Same windows (with less gimmick) for half the price. The manager of Mad City then offered to match their price.

I was skeptical about the company still, but they gave a guarantee that these windows would save me 40% on my bills or they would pay the difference the first year. To be sure this wasn't a gimmick, I asked them how often they have to pay out, and if the windows would actually save me this money. He said they rarely ever pay out anything, and that I was sure to save that much money. His savings matrix showed me how these windows could work into my budget.

Over my first year, I only saved 0.5% on my energy bills, and had to spend over a week dealing with Mad City before they would give me my money back that was guaranteed (although they did not mention the $500 limit, which was less than the amount I should have been owed). I asked them to look at the windows to show me how I failed to save any money on my bills, as I had replaced 60 year old rotted windows with these "top of the line energy efficient" windows. They sent someone over who spent less than 5 minutes looking at my windows, and he just gave me a blank stare when I asked why these windows weren't living up to their promise. I asked for follow up from their manager, and I never got a response.

I am left with 5 years worth of payments on windows that are completely worthless, and the company would not do anything to resolve the issue. From using bait and switch advertising, to high pressure sales, misrepresenting a product that fails to meet any of the set expectations, giving the run around when asked for payment, and ignoring me when asked for further resolution, I cannot state strongly enough how upset I am with the service and product that I received.Desired Settlement: Since it is impossible to have my old windows re-installed and return these windows to Mad City, which is the outcome I would truly desire, I would like some sort of compensation. As I explained to the salesman and manager at time of purchase, I am a single home owner barely getting by, and the only way I fit these windows into my budget was based on the savings that they guaranteed me. As such, I would like to request a billing adjustment/refund for part of the price of the windows, as their value is no where near what I was charged. A fair compensation would be $500/year for the next 4 years (the remainder of my payment term for these windows). Paid either as a lump sum of $2000, or annually.

I am willing to negotiate if the company thinks another settlement is appropriate. If they are not willing to work with me, my only course of action will be to make sure everyone out there knows what a scam the company is running and how terrible their product is. Thank you for your assistance.
