Mad City Sales Reviews (82)

Review: My vehicle was totaled out on January 28th. I contacted ** at Mad City sales to obtain a bill of sale to continue the process of the gap coverage total loss claim. ** asked where my contract information was, I informed him that the day I picked up my car he was not here and I was only handed my keys because paper work was signed before hand and I was only waiting to put my down payment on the car so I never received any contracts. He told me that it may take about a week, I agreed to those terms. I then waited 4 weeks and never heard anything from **. I called again the last week of February and spoke with a business manager. He informed me that he would get it taken care of and that the request for a bill of sale should have taken that long. I said okay. I waited about a week and did not hear anything and I was on my third and final request to complete my total loss claim. I called owner guard and informed them of the issues I was having communicating with the dealership, they agreed they would contact the dealership so we could move forward with the total loss claim. On March 9th Owner guard fax over information and a request to be called back so that my total loss claim could be completed. When I talked to owner guard on March 23rd they said they still had not heard from Mad City Sales. I am here today on the 25th of March and ** and the rest of the management team is acting as if they had never heard from me or owner guard. My credit is being greatly effected due to the lack of communication and customer service of this dealership.

Dear Ms.[redacted], my name is [redacted] and I am the General Sales Manager of Mad City Sales Inc. I have reviewed your complaint with the Revdex.com. I have also reviewed all the documents we have on file from the date of sale. I'd like to start out by apologizing, 90% of any dispute comes from poor communication. So let's start by opening up the lines of communication and understanding. I understand why you're upset, I would be to if I was in your position. I'm happy you stopped by my office and we where able to work out the discrepancy, I'm sorry it took as long as it did to get cleared up. If you have any more questions or issues please feel free to contact me at any time. Thank you.

Review: I purchased a 2011 Toyota Prius less than a week ago. The car was chosen for me by the sales associate, [redacted]. When [redacted] picked this car out for me, he informed me that the low tire pressure light was on, but reassured me that the tires were fine. I asked that their service technic[redacted] take a look at the tires, just to be sure. They informed me that they looked at the tires and that they were fine. I asked two employees to make sure these tires were safe. They assured me they were. I purchased the car believing the tires were safe. They were not. The low engine light continued to come one everyday for twice a day after purchasing the car. Just a couple days down the road after the purchase the tire completely blew out on the busy interstate of I-90. This caused me to swerve and brake, putting my life and others on the road in danger as I almost hit the person in the lane next to me and caused two people behind me to rear-end each other. It was a very scary situation and I wish it upon no one. I immediately took the car in to get looked out and had the service technic[redacted] determine the reason for the blow. The tire was found to have no nails, debris or other objects puncture it. The technic[redacted] determined it was simply a blow out. The tires were very old and worn he concluded. When he put the new tire on for me, the low tire pressure light STILL came on. He then had to evaluate all three other tires. After doing this, it was determined that the all tires were worn thin and were a road hazard. He was surprised that they all had not blown out sooner. I had to purchase all four brand new tires after forking over a lot of money for this "new", "safe" car. I have went in to talk with them IN PERSON and talked to both the manager and the sales associate explaining my situation and telling this very dangerous story. They blew me completely off and told me they were busy. I have called numerous times and left multiple voice messages and both have claimed to be "away" from their desk's. They are impossible to get a hold of, in person and over phone! I really just want to be reimbursed the $400 I had to spend for unsafe tires they sold me. I do not want to give bad reviews and I would really like to continue to give them my service. However, they have completely avoided me, and the situation. It was a very scary situation that could have been avoided with some honesty and communication. Also, I was also told that there would be a $2,000 dollar discount off of the car which did not show up in my final billing. [redacted] disappeared to the back room to talk with his manager about "getting me a deal". [redacted] said the car price was $19,999 but was going to try to talk it down. He came back, "with great news!", he said. "They could take $2,000 off", he said. They gave me $4,000 for my trade in as well. Now, I am no mathematic[redacted], but that should come out to maybe $15,000 with tax, title, license. So why is my billing saying $18,400? This is not right and VERY shady. I would just like to be reimbursed for this inconvenience regarding the tires and I would like the billing to adjusted to what was originally stated by the sales associate and manager.Desired Settlement: I would like to be reimbursed for the full amount I had to spend on new tires because the originals were dangerous. I would also like the billing amount to be adjusted to what was originally stated by the sales associate and manager. Which was: 19,999 - 2,000(discount) - 4,000 (trade-in)

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. Mad City Sales ensured my satisfaction and regained my trust in them. [redacted] was a huge help and a great sport through all of this. I appreciate all the help and will continue to do business with Mad City again! Thanks so much.

Regards,

I was interested so I made an appointment and stopped in. I filled out the paperwork with my personal information (dob & ss #). I was then approached by the floor manager & told I was denied due to having a low credit score. I was completely shocked because I just checked it a few days prior & it was in good standing. I asked questions & he (not positive his name) answered by showing me things that were on my report.I was upset because none of these things seemed familiar but I thought it had to be correct since they ran my social security number. I left & immediately went to "Get it Now" which was one of the issues on my report. I spoke with the manager & he printed out paperwork proving I had nothing with them & no bad standing,so I can dispute this matter. It was then the manager [redacted] & I realized it wasn't my social security number, date of birth or correct address. This man obviously just put my name in the computer, instead of my social & gave me some complete strangers personal information. I proceeded to call them first thing Monday morning to let them know about this mix up. I spoke with a male [redacted] who never apologized but instead, read me off the incorrect social & DOB he had on file. I told him it wasn't me. He said he was going to look over a few things to fix the problem & would call me back within 15 mins. I never received a call back so I called them as soon as I got off work (3:30pm). I spoke to the same male & expressed how this is an important matter because of things like this, ppl have identity issues. I also said I don't feel comfortable with them having my personal info so to please delete my information so it doesn't happen to me. He just then stated he called the other lady & she said it was no big deal. I said it was to me & if he can please remove all my info out of the system. He seemed to get an additude & said well we will just remove your information like we discussed earlier. He once again didn't think giving a random stranger someone's personal information was a big deal. I'm worried sick this will happen again to someone else & or maybe them giving my credit to someone with the same name & ruin their/my life.

Review: I purchased a 2009 Toyota Venza here is a copy of the email I sent to mad city sales after several phone calls and text messages failed to produce results/response.Hi [redacted] and [redacted], I was in on Tuesday to get the promised repairs done to the vehicle. At that time we did a walk around for me to show you what all needed immediate attention. The drivers side mirror, the drivers side rocker panel molding (front and rear), the side molding (trim), the bumper covers (front and rear). At this visit you were able to put the mirror on (still needs paint work). Install the side molding(trim). Install the drivers side front rocker panel piece. I did show you the bumper covers were both loose and needed to be fastened. Don't think you even bothered to address these issues other than saying you would order the clip kit for the front bumper. Well here is the problem. No one bothered to address the rear bumper cover issues and on my way home tonight the rear bumper cover flew off the car and almost caused a major pile up on The hi way.

Also as previously stated the six speaker stereo system only has 4 speakers, the fog lights the vehicle is equipped with do not function. The tires at in such bad shape the car want to rattle apart at hi way speeds. The cd disc changer that I bought and paid for isn't even in the vehicle. The cargo lamp bulb is missing. the trim on the drivers window is falling off as well as the drivers window door seal trim is missing. I have had the vehicle two weeks and it is falling apart.

As this vehicle has been nothing but an embarrassment to have parked in my driveway I expect a call first thing Wednesday morning telling me how soon I can bring the car down to leave with you to properly fix this rolling atrocity that I paid $18,000 for. I also expect a vehicle to drive until this is fixed. [redacted]

Ps this is being sent to the better business burrow and new3 call to action.

Sent from my iPhoneDesired Settlement: Fix, repair all known defects. Install all missing components listed on the advertisement of the vehicle on their web site.

Review: 4-5 weeks ago I purchased a 2006 charger rt which was sold as a 2007 even on my paperwork, traded in my 04 silverado which I had no major issues with because I seen this car in my price range during negotiations I had asked for my keys back then they talked me into this car I took possesion of the car that day before I left I asked about blown out leds on tail light they said they would not fix hmmm theres a warning I totally missed so took it home drove it two days and tried to open the sun roof at which time it started to open hung up and blew all the plastics out and tore inner slider off track took back to mad city and was told repeatedly I am not putting a 2000 dollar sunroof in it after not being satisfied they brought out"the big dog" [redacted] who then said he would make an appointment at [redacted] to get looked at a week goes by no call so I go there and am told by Ian oh you were supposed to call them bro by this time I have other problems so to shorten this up [redacted] screwed me on my appointment because [redacted] never gave a purchase order so I took the car to my cousins brother in law a certified dodge mechanic for ubersox to have inspected the following items are bad. fog lamp blown, windshield wipers bad ,stereo system does not work ,brake rotors warped, water pump bearing shot, which also wreaking belt, tires need to be balanced possibly bent rim, had to have computer updates [redacted]e because of running issues,a/c does not work and the evap sensor is disconnected Why?,sun roof damaged, tail light leds blown, missing approximately 50 panel rivets, the dash vibrates badly, I was charged 17999 for this car and they [redacted]t return calls so the last couple messages got nasty I am not sure what good this will do but it isnt rite that by law they can go around screwing people with no accountability they are real sm of the earthDesired Settlement: I would like out of the deal and my truck back which is what I said before [redacted] came out

Response:

Dear Mr.[redacted], I have reviewed your

complaint with Mad City Sales Inc. that has been filed with the Revdex.com.

I'd like to start out by apologizing for the frustrations you've

experienced. When I spoke with you I was

under the impression that your main concern was with the missing trim

components of the sun roof. I felt at that point that a Dodge

dealerships service department would have an option of ordering those

pieces individually as apposed to replacing the entire

unit. I did contact [redacted] and inform them that you'd be setting up

an appointment with them and what we where looking to get accomplished, I

am sorry for the poor customer service that you received from them. In

your complaint with the Revdex.com you go on to

describe an entire list of issues that you're concerned with. After

reviewing the list I see that they are not safety related items. When

the vehicle is inspected for sale by our certified technicians the techs

are looking for issues that would effect the

vehicle ability to be operated in a safe manor. From the dealerships

position, if we replaced absolutely everything that was cosmetically

flawed we would not be able to finance the vehicle with a bank willing

to work with people who have had a less fortunate

credit history. We strive to put the NICEST and NEWEST cars on the road

with our name on it for folks in a special finance situation. The

lenders charge us, the dealer, a large fee to take on the risk of

nonpayment and we need to make sure we can pay that fee AND make a few

bucks as well. Its a VERY tight line so there is always a little bit of

give and take in every Special finance guest we serve. Our intention

is never to "screw" anyone and I sleep

well at night knowing that we have helped a lot of people get financing

when other dealers have simply said no and turned their heads. We have

grown by about 1000% over the years taking people FROM the current

crumby credit situation TO a much BETTE R credit situation where they

pay real low interest and have many many more choices all WITHOUT the

fees we incur as a dealer. folks come back to us over and over again!

Please

contact me to set up a time that works for you

to review these items and I'm sure we can resolve our differences in a

respectful manor. Thank you and have a wonderful day. [redacted]GSM Mad City Sales

The commercial said 99 199 or 299 a month my car payment with them is four hundred and $60 a month I didn't have bad credit I just have no credit because I went through five years of a chapter 13 I was never late I never missed a payment they lied to me and I am very upset I had no choice I had to get the vehicle... candy was awesome with me but I can't afford $460 a month so I am very ticked off that they lie on their commercial

First we were lied to about a cracked windshield. At the time of the sale the salesman assured us he could not sell us a vehicle with a crack in the windshield because it was against the law and they would fix it. After about a month of trying to get the issue resolved (the order was never actually placed) and no call backs, they finally informed us that we would have to pay for it.
Second we were lied to about the payoff of our trade in vehicle. Since we were not planning on driving off the lot that day with a new vehicle, we did not have the exact pay off amount for our trade in and again, our salesman assured us that we will not have to worry about anything and that Mad City would cover the difference (which was only $94). Three weeks later we had gotten a call from our old lender stating that we still owed them money. According to the old lender Mad City had never called them for a payoff (like our salesman told us they would) and didn’t send them the payment (which wasn’t accurate) until 11 days after we left the lot with the truck. In the meantime the trade in vehicle was about to accrue another payment. After weeks of no call backs and lied to numerous times about approvals and what they have already paid, we were told that if we covered the windshield they would cover they payoff. Pretty slimy if you ask me.
Thirdly we were pulled over (for going 5 over) and luckily got out of a fine of $200 for not having a registration or bill of sale for the truck. The dealership had never given us any paperwork and when we inquired about it we were informed that it was in the mail, and we would have to wait. After a call to the local police department I was told that the dealership was supposed to give us something because there is no way for law enforcement to know that it was not a stolen vehicle. After talking to the salesman, he said he would email me something stating the car was owned by Mad City and we were “test driving” it. Never received that email.
After calling and leaving messages over 10 times in about a month, I have never received a call back. I was blatantly lied to on numerous occasions, treated very poorly by the service department and receptionist, and spent countless hours trying to resolve issues that would have never happened if this company had ethical business practices. I hope that this will help other consumers avoid such a horrible experience. I will certainly never go back there and advise others the same.

Review: I open this complaint with the embarrassing confession that I allowed myself to be duped by Mad City Sales twice within the same 1 ½ year period. The first vehicle I purchased back in April 2013, a 2002 Subaru WRX, had a crack in the radiator that was shoddily bonded together with a putty-like material. This led to a blown transmission, which I replaced out of my own pocket before the vehicle had completely fallen apart only 6 months later. I gave Mad City Sales a second chance to make things right by trading the Subaru for a 2007 4WD Toyota Tacoma. Unfortunately, this time I was ripped off even worse, and was ultimately defrauded by this sham of a business.

To begin, like the many other poor souls who filed a complaint against Mad City Sales, my credit was pulled without my permission. In fact, I specifically told them, “Do not pull my credit. I do not want my credit getting touched right now”, both verbally and in writing. I still have the document I wrote clearly stating that Mad City Sales was to do a SOFT pull on my credit, not hard. We were in the “test driving” stage where they let you take the car home for a couple days, when to my horror/surprise, there were suddenly SIX brand new inquiries on my credit report.

They had a very blasé reaction when I went in there exasperated the next day. I barely received an apology; instead they just kept excitedly kept pushing what a "great payment" they got me.

I asked about the truck’s history; our salesman told me it had a perfectly clean history report, with an “A” rating and “no major accidents”. I did not want his word for it. I wanted the report. He just kept responding that they inspect all of their vehicles themselves and it’s in perfect condition. Again, I did not want his word for it. I had to ask several times to see the vehicle report for myself before he finally showed it to me. Lo and behold, the report clearly stated a severe accident in which the vehicle was overturned. I was livid.

The salesman claimed that he must have "missed" the accident on the report, and profusely apologized. I was about to walk, and that was when he offered up the best way to “guarantee” my purchase would be risk-free. He agreed to include their 5 year premium warranty with all the bells and whistles at no extra charge. He assured me this warranty would cover ANY issues with the vehicle, and thus removing any risk that came with it.

I did not want to walk into another dealership and end up with additional inquiries (or less-than-ideal offers on loans, as my credit score had dropped due to all of the recent inquiry activity). I was blatantly lied to about this truck’s history, but I was guaranteed that any pre-existing issues would be covered by this golden warranty that was so generously added “free of charge”. That day, I ended up purchasing a vehicle that would soon become a complete nightmare for me.

Almost immediately we found that there were slow leaks in all four tires. This was very concerning as the tires were brand new, meaning there was a problem with the structure of the vehicle. We immediately took it into Mad City Sales, where their maintenance team inspected the vehicle and found severe issues with the alignment/shocks/rims that, if I would like properly fix, would cost me thousands of dollars that I do not have. And what do you know, the “iron clad” warranty that the salesman guaranteed would cover anything and everything? It doesn’t cover any of it.

The disturbing part about this situation is how the tire pressure light did not go on when I borrowed the car for a test drive for those couple of days. I own the truck now, and I will say that light goes on several times a week. This means they would have had to beef up the tire pressure before handing it off to me, meaning they knew the issue with the vehicle, and ultimately that their warranty would NOT cover the pre-existing problem it had, as it wasn’t technically “under the hood”. I was coaxed into making a purchase on a false guarantee. That is fraud.

I had reached out to Mad City Sales on September 29th via their website on working out the above situation. All I received in return was a single voicemail left by a salesman, which entailed something along the lines of, “We can definitely trade out your vehicle! We have lots of great trucks on the lot today!” There was not even as much as an apology left in this message, just another cheesy sales pitch. I called him back anyway, but unfortunately he never returned my call, so here I am.Desired Settlement: I want to get rid of this vehicle that has given me nightmares since I bought it. I will even assume responsibility for the $4,600 I have already paid in payments to this truck, and just ask that Mad City Sales take back this truck at the current amount owed of $19,462 (plus the interest that will accrue from today-on at 7.99% APR).

In

response to the stated situation at hand, let me start by saying the Senior Leadership has changed here at Mad City Sales within the last few

months and the direction MCS is on is one of customer satisfaction and

problem solving with the consumers best interest at hand. After

becoming aware of the stated issues, I have repeatedly reached out to

speak to Ms. [redacted] on multiple occasions since 10/16/2015. At this

point I welcome [redacted] to come in and see if we can assist in her

current situation. After looking through our Service Department

records, it appears that within the 1 year after the vehicle purchase,

there have been no major issues other than normal maintenance

recommended or performed within the 20K miles that have been put on the

vehicle in that year. We have seen the vehicle in our service shop for minor issue and maintenance only with no stated concerns. The vehicle appears to still be under an extended

warranty coverage covering mechanical but not maintenance issues. We

here at Mad City Sales would love the opportunity to assist [redacted]

with her current concerns of her vehicle. Please give me a call and we

will work together to figure out a solution that is fair and equitable

to all.Best Regards,[redacted]Mad City Sales

Review: Hello,

On January 3rd, 2014 I went car shopping because my vehicle was well on it's way to failure and potentially injuring myself or passengers. I stopped at Mad City Sales right off the Beltline in Madison, WI. I was greeted and customer service was good. The sales woman wasn't even using typical high pressure sales tactics. I felt comfortable there so I started taking a look around at vehicles. It wasn't too long before I was shown something that I liked and matched my criteria.

When we were discussing the vehicle I asked if I could see the Car Fax report on it for my own personal safety. The sales woman said that they did not have a Car Fax sales report but instead they used a reporting site by the name of, Experian Automotive AutoCheck. The report looked official enough and the sales woman was very adamant about trusting this site versus the Car Fax. The first thing she disclosed was that the vehicle had been in an accident and that a door had been replaced on February 22, 2008. I was concerned about the drive ability and resale of the vehicle but the sales woman reassured me that if there were any concerns with safety or value of the vehicle, that the report would show it.

I went ahead and asked to see the vehicle and after a thorough inspection(I have a background in automotive technology), I decided to test drive the vehicle. The vehicle test drove well and not long after the drive I was signing a contract to purchase the vehicle and trade-in my old ride.

Eight months have passed and I had experienced nothing but trouble with the vehicle since the dealership's warranty had expired. By August I had replaced two shocks, rear brakes and rotors, a clutch, a clutch master cylinder, a clutch line, clutch slave cylinder, and shifter cables. None of these repairs were cheap and all of this hit me at a time when I was in between jobs. I had a sour taste in my mouth for the vehicle so I started to worry and made the trip to dealerships in the area to see if I could trade this car in for something a little more reliable.

I went to a number of the dealerships on the East Side of Madison and Sun Prairie looking to trade my car in. Every dealership I spoke with that ran a Car Fax report on the vehicle told me that the car could only be traded in for about six thousand dollars. It turned out that the Car Fax reported the vehicle being in a "severe" accident in which, defined by Car Fax, it could not be driven away from the site of the accident. That really made me panic. I purchased the car for $11,500 from the dealership thinking I got a steal on the $12,500 kelley blue book value.

My instinct told me to go back to the dealership I purchased at and ask for them to give me a trade-in estimate. They printed up a sheet, VIN matching, that had values as follows, clean- $9,025, average- $8,225, rough- $7,225. My car certainly qualifies as clean with low miles.

Mad City has trade in values that are significantly higher than the offers I was getting anywhere else. I was promised that the vehicle would not have any problems value. I was sold a lie and I would like the dealership to at least help me get into something that isn't falling apart as I drive down the road. I have spent so much money on repairs that I have had to put my bills on the back burner so that I can pay to have it repaired, to make it to work. My credit score is deteriorating as we speak and I have no one to blame besides myself for believing the lies sold to me at Mad City Sales. The sales woman promised this car would be a perfect strategy to help me build credit, instead it has ruined it. Now I have a car that I can't sell either.Desired Settlement: My desired outcome would be for Mad City to exchange for a vehicle that I can verify, via Car Fax, is indeed a good running car that will have excellent trade in value. If I cannot get the dealership to at least make up for their misrepresentation, I will be looking to take the dealership to small claims court.

Response:

Dear Mr. [redacted], I have read your complaint and understand you're

frustrated with the vehicle you purchased from us on Jan 3rd of this

year. After reading the complaint I understand what your position is,

my goal is to shed some light on what things look like from our end.

Before we offer a vehicle for retail sale we inspect the vehicle to make

sure it's safe to drive according to state regulation. Part of that

inspection is to check the brakes and all other safety related items. We

inspected the vehicle and disclosed everything we knew about the

vehicle, unfortunately in this case the car was equipped with a manual

transmission. Vehicles equipped with a manual transmission have a

component in them called a clutch, a clutch is made of the same

materials as brake pads and is considered a wear item by all

manufacturers. Unfortunately clutches can go bad at any time due to the

large amount of stress they are under at all times. As someone with a mechanic background you surely understand all of this too. We disclosed the

vehicles previous usage and accident history using a source known as an

Auto Check, most all dealerships use Auto Check because many of the banks that

finance cars use Auto Check. Car Fax is a reputable source for a

vehicles history however due to higher advertising costs for the Car Fax

service we use Auto Check to pass the savings on to our consumer while

maintaining an accurate way of disclosing a vehicles history. This is

only one example of what makes us a dealer FOR the people. The insinuation of wrong or illegal actions has been investigated from within and we find no evidence of this. That said, our mission is to create a happy customer when they are not. We are in this mode right now!You had stated you were between jobs so I am assuming there may have been some struggles to make timely payments on something which would make your credit go down vs up. An auto loan is of very high value to credit reporting agencies when it comes to score and every timely payment creates a stronger risk status for you. We make every effort to set folks up to be in a better situation in regards to their credit scores and always have. Circumstances certainly do arise that hinder this progress as it sounds like it did here. As for the

value of the vehicle, from the sounds of things, it sounds like other

dealers are using the cars history to de-value your car. Based on the

information you've shared with me, I'm sure I can give you more than

what you've been offered. We ALWAYS have folks looking for cars like yours and would welcome it on trade. I'd be more than happy to trade you up to a

vehicle you'd be happier with in an effort to maintain our excellent

customer service history record. Please contact me at your convenience

to schedule a time for us to meet about finding you a Nicer, Newer Car. --

I have to say that my experience at Mad City Sales was pretty awesome. I know that most of the time people only complain about their experiences online but I felt compelled to state my positive experience.
I am now the proud owner of a Buick Renezvous thanks to [redacted] and [redacted] I stopped in a couple days ago knowing that my current car was on its last legs and I better jump on things before winter gets here. When I met with [redacted], he did not pressure me or use any of those hard sales that sales people are known for. We looked at a couple of cars that fit my budget and within 30 minutes has decided on this Rendezvous.
I was able to get it financed and am now very happy having gone there when I did. I appreciated the job [redacted] and [redacted] did for me.
Thanks.

Horrible horrible horrible customer service the place is a joke I had a trade in and money down was sold a dream and they tried to put me in cars they knew had some serious damage to them wasted 7 hours of my day and then the sales man all day tried selling me on a certain car told me the bank already approved that vehicle to find out that was a lie AWFUL service and awful salesman seriously I would never recommend this place to anyone especially to the salesman I had he's a joke

Review: I purchased a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer in March 2013. I started having issues with it the day I took delivery. Took it for service to the dealer, Mad City Sales, multiple times and they could not diagnose. Finally determined it was a symptom of a bad throttle body which they replaced in Aug 2013. Continued to have issues, they agreed to have it diagnosed by a certified Chevrolet Dealer, Ballweg in Middleton. The error codes stated a bad throttle body and other electrical issues. They had Ballweg "reprogram" the throttle body and rebuild a portion of the electrical system. I went a couple months with no errors then started having the same issues. Took it back to Ballweg in July 2014 and they showed all the same errors that existed last summer. This time they stated the throttle body was bad and must have been replaced with a defective or refurbished unit and will not cost over $600 to repair. I authorized additional testing and they determined there is a cylinder leak which was the actual cause of all the issues since I purchased the vehicle. The total repair estimate is between $2500 - $3000 for issues that have existed since the day I drove the vehicle off the lot. It took months to get it looked at last summer and to find they used an inferior part when they finally did any work on the vehicle and did not actually diagnose the issue is horrible. I have the documentation showing the error codes in 8/2013 and again in 7/2014 when I had enough money to take it in for further diagnosis.Desired Settlement: I want the repairs completed by a Chevrolet certified mechanic with new parts and reimbursement for the $220 in diagnosis labor at Ballweg in 8/2014.

Dear Valued Customer, my name is [redacted]. I am the General Sales Manager of Mad City Sales Inc. Like many other dealerships we get our inventory from several sources, trade in vehicles, private party sales and the auctions when needed. When we purchase a vehicle with the intention of selling it we have it inspected by our technicians and it must pass a strict state mandated inspection process before being offered for sale on our property. With that said, we can't tell the future. Every vehicle sold from Mad City Sales comes with a 3000 mile mechanical warranty at NO COST to the consumer to protect the customer from purchasing a car with a bad engine or transmission. We would never sell car knowing there's a defect with the engine/transmission or any safety related item for that matter. After reviewing both your complaint and our service records for your automobile I found that we as a dealer have done a lot to resolve any concern you had for your Chevrolet Trailblazer. Our technicians came up with the same diagnoses as the Chevrolet Dealer. I was a technician for almost twelve years myself. In your complaint you stated that the dealer diagnosed the vehicle to have a faulty throttle body, then after that repair was completed they said it was actually a cylinder leak. We never mislead our customers or make promises that we can't keep. I'm sorry you feel that you haven't received good service from our dealership and want you to know that my door is always open and my phone is always by my side. I'd be more than willing to sit down with you and review our inspection documents along with our service records of your vehicle. I thank you for your time and understanding in this matter and look forward to hearing from you.

This is the last place you should ever go to get a car!! After driving off the lot with a new car I was called in a week later to return it. When I got there other customers were in the same circumstance as me. Mad City sales pulled me aside and told me that they had lied to the bank about my income level and the bank had discovered the lie and I now could no longer get my bank loan.
So not only did I have to give up my new car but I had to fight with them for a week to get back my thousand dollar down payment and my old vehicle trade in.

Review: On July 8, 2015 at approx. 1030am I accompanied my girlfriend to this dealer to look for a car. Upon arriving at the dealership the salesman [redacted] approached us on the lot. From the start I could tell he was not very knowledgeable about the vehicles on the lot. She picked one out she liked and [redacted] invited us in to talk about the car. She did the initial paperwork, ( because they do this approve you before you look thing) which is messed up to start with! So she sat there and filled out the paperwork talk in circles with this [redacted] person and he brought up a 2014 Toyota Corolla with 28,000 HARD DRIVEN miles on it. I’m not exaggerating when I say this thing looks like its been through a war zone! The paint was scratched, the tires were UNSAFE for the road, rims were all chipped up, interior stunk like there was a dead rotting animal inside. The thing WAS A MESS!!! After checking the sticker I found it had unibody welds and corrections made to it. The Box was not checked for rebuilt salvage or whatever else it was. So anyway, he said this is the car the bank wants to see you in. Really? A beat up piece of crap that needs to be in the scrap yard like many other on the lot!! So she did the paperwork, got approved and went through the motions. We then wanted to leave for lunch to talk and they wanted us to take the piece of junk!! I was not about to let my kids ride in that thing again!!!! They called her after being gone for 20 minutes and said someone else was inquiring on the car and asked if she still wanted it. Really? We went down the road for lunch. Now this place is on my nerves and I wasn’t the one buying the car. Current time is 2pm when we got back the said this car was going to have new tires and gone over. I then see it parked in the lot with the stickers still on and same crappy tires!! She was in the “box” as they call it, doing paperwork. I went to find [redacted] and located him and said why are their stickers still on this car and same old tires. He said “ ill check” he came back and said well there was no deal to put new tires on. I said no way, the deal was new tires. He said well it has to go to service yet. NO dealer should have to put their vehicles through service if they are sitting on the lot. He sat there an argued with us and finally another guy came out and said we will take care of it. So to clarify he told us 5 times that there would be new tires. Im super pissed at this point and have lost all faith in this dealership at this point. She signed the papers after all the pressure from these clowns and they were “putting the new tires on now” [redacted]s famous line, I have good news your car is on the rack now. So givien my gut feeling I told her to get out of this deal and we will figure something else out. She put a $500 down payment down and was able to get out and had nothing but trouble getting the 500 back. We were lied to at least 10 times that day, my kids were impatient because we been there since 1030a and its now 3pm. Finally the kicker is, the price they had on this clunker was $22,995 and was selling it to her for $16,995 with a $497 a month payment!!! INSANE considering I bought my Camry from a REPUTABLE dealer 2012 with 25,000 miles for$18,900. Long story short, if you want a junk car, crappy customer service, be lied to and screwed over Mad City Sales is the place for you. If not, please feel free to visit other better dealers in the area and steer away from this “fly by night” dealer. If you do stop bring a bottle of Vaseline because they are going to screw you hard!!!!Desired Settlement: NONE, PEOPLE NEED TO BE AWARE OF THIS SHADY DEALERSHIP.

To Whom It May Concern,

I am one of the Owners here at Mad City Sales and have reviewed all documentation and notes concerning this purchase. First I am very sorry Ms. [redacted] has had some bumps in the road with her purchased vehicle. My team works tireless to help people find a solution to their transportation problems. We put together the best option we had available, at that time, for her to help her get out of her 1999 Mercury Sable with 205,000 miles. When the problems first arose we acted quickly to try to to pinpoint the problem and get it remedied. We verified one cylinder was misfiring and did some part replacements and needed it to be driven for at lease 1000 miles to see how the vehicle reacted to the repairs. In the end it turned out there was a larger, much more expensive problem. We then brought the vehicle back in and did a full engine replacement. We were able to get over $5000 of this repair covered by warranties and goodwill from Mad City Sales. When we were completing both repairs we supplied Ms. [redacted] with a rental car as well. Our latest contact with her had been due to her "check engine" light coming back on for another issue. This issue was with the exhaust and we could not get it covered by her warranty provider. There weren't any inspections we could do prior to purchase that could predetermine the exhaust failure 5 months after purchase. We attempted, per Ms. [redacted] request, to find another option but we could not get any of our lenders on board to do so at this time. We were able to get the vehicle she currently owns based on past credit but the lenders want to see more timely, good payment, actions published before stepping up more. We have been stepping folks up to nicer, newer cars for many years and we have become known for helping build up credit files with all the major reporting agencies through custom tailored vehicle loans. As we move people up in credit tiers the lenders tend to stick their neck out further and take more risk. With only a couple payments made on this vehicle we are not able to help her into the next step quite yet. In the meantime the vehicle will certainly need ongoing maintenance and repairs as any vehicle does that is 10 years old. The exhaust issue is the current needed maintenance Ms. [redacted] has.

Again, my sincerest of apologies for the bumps along the way and we will do anything we can to help Ms. [redacted] along in the process.

Thank you,

President

Review: This is my THIRD time communicating this complaint to Mad City Sales.......

I had originally sent the following message via “contact us” on Mad City Sales website @ 8/29/14 830pm. I have yet to get anything but more advertisement emails from them.

Next I posted the same messages on the customer reviews section of the Mad City Sales website, still NO RESPONSE!

I am writing to communicate my bad experience with Mad City Sales.

I made an appointment for Saturday August 9th, 2014 at 1230pm via email contact with [redacted]. I had explained to [redacted] what I was looking for and what monthly payment I was hoping for, she noted that Mad City Sales has many different lots of vehicles to choose from, so finding my perfect match should not be a problem.

I arrived at Mad City Sales on Saturday and met the salesman ** Galloway. ** asked a couple questions about what I was looking for, then sent me out in the lot to explore solo. I found a couple of crossover suv’s I thought were suitable. The first vehicle I tried to test drive was a situation I have never experienced before. ** brought me the key to a Honda CRV, which at first the keyless entry didn’t work, and the vehicle would not turn over. I just attempted to test drive a vehicle with a dead battery………OK! thats not a good sign. ** finds another CRV for me to test drive, this one starts and I take it for a test drive. The breaks were squeaky (like almost to the rotors, squeaky) and it didn’t drive to my liking. Once I got back I tracked down **, and explained I was not to happy with the CRV. So then I test drove a Rouge, which drove much better. The Rogue was much more convincing as a vehicle in good shape. Once I returned to the dealership, again I track down ** and explain the more positive experience with the Rogue. Next is the number crunching, I have already explained to [redacted] and ** what monthly payment I am looking for (around $250/month), I was looking to lower my monthly payments from the 2008 Expedition (of $450/month). So fast forward thru all the paperwork and ** comes back with numbers for me………..$400/month! UGH! Not as low as I needed. So I ask a few questions about maybe picking an older or lower priced vehicle, honestly all the “extras” stuff is not that important to me. At this point ** quickly talks me out of having to start the test drive process all over again. Like it was a hassle to give me the time I needed to find the perfect fit for me. So I signed the paperwork, thinking I can make this work and the lower cost on fuel (mpg) will help too.

Fast forward again to a few weeks…….. My financial situation is going to change within a few months. I express this to ** via email, while also communicating with him about my down payment check not going thru. (which ended up being my mistake, due to the fact that child support payments I thought had been received were not). As of today everything should be square with the down payment, but no one at Mad City Sales could agree with that. I did not think it was important to share personal information, but the short version of the story…….I found out recently that the bills my boyfriend is responsible for, have not been paid in months. So along with the bills problem and another pile of drama I have kicked the boyfriend to the curb. Yea! for my peace of mind, BUT my finances are taking a hit due to playing catch up on past due bills plus flying solo on my monthly housing. So I can no longer afford a $400/month car payment. I need to try and get closer to my initial request of $250/month. After a couple of emails of communication with **, I explain that I will be in on Friday August 29, 2014 at 4pm(ish) to see if Mad City Sales can help me achieve my initial request of a MUCH LOWER payment.

On Friday August 29th, 2014 my truly crappy experience began with Mad City Sales. I arrive at 4pm, stand in the lobby area for about 10 minutes before beginning addressed. At which point I am shuffled to a desk by an employee, I explain I there to meet with **. Since I had previously told him I would be in at 4pm. I wait in a cubicle for about 15 minutes before ** comes to talk to me, he says he is with two other customers at the time so he is going to have his sales manager [redacted] help me. I wait another 10 minutes, when the sales person whose cubicle I am sitting at, asks me to move to another cubicle……..OK sure! I wait in my new “seat” for another 10 minutes. Then [redacted] comes to ask me what I am looking to do today, because [redacted] is on a phone call. So I explain to [redacted] what I have explained to ** that I thought ** had explained to [redacted]…….is this high school? Because I am beginning to feel like I am in the middle of a rumor mill! “[redacted], I am looking to exchange the car I bought on 8/9/14, my financial situation has changed and I can no longer afford the payments.” [redacted] leaves expressing he will explain everything to [redacted]. 430pm rolls around and I finally come face to face with the infamous [redacted]. I once again explain my situation, but this time to [redacted] throws a few details at me, that he thinks apply to my situation, but they were incorrect. I make corrections and continue to discuss a few details with [redacted]. He explains in a very nice and professional m[redacted]r that they are pretty busy right now and please be patient. Which I completely understood! UNTIL…….I sit in this cubicle until 545pm! With no communication from ANYONE! I see ** walking around trying to get his sales completed, I see [redacted] walking around talking to other associates, and I see [redacted] talking to other customers. At 545pm ** comes over, he expresses that he had no idea I was still there. OH GOOD EVERYONE FORGOT ABOUT ME! Thats something a customer wants think! ** tries to answer a few questions for me and at this point I know I am being difficult because I am angry after waiting for so long. ** handled it well! very well! Kudos to **! :)

He expressed that he was going to communicate with [redacted] and see what was going on. Come 555pm I hadn’t heard from anyone, so I left. I was to upset to stay and try to communicate with anyone, anyway. Plus the office closes in 5 minutes. I don’t want to make the employees stay late on labor day weekend! I know what its like to work weekends. If I can control it, I am not going to be the cause of someone having to stay late on a holiday weekend when they should spend that time with their families!

Now that I have explained my experience I have a few questions/statements.

1. Is the “dealer for the people” not willing to work with people who want to reduce there monthly vehicle cost dramatically ? Because at this point I am ready to explore my options at other dealers in the area.

2. I realize that Mad City Sales was very busy both days I was there, but since when is it ok to leave a customer waiting for over an hour? In my experience I haven’t had to wait that long for a doctors appointment. I am a very patient, mild m[redacted]red person. I don’t get upset easily. But in this circumstance I was VERY upset!

3. Can you every help me out in my situation or not? I guess I should ask if you are willing to help me out?

4. On friday 8/29/14 I left my job early at 3pm (in Dodgeville, WI) to sit at a dealership for 2 hours and accomplish nothing. This time of year my job is very demanding, so getting time off early is not easy. Now I am going to have to take more time to go back to a dealership because nothing was accomplished on the day I scheduled time and made time for it to happen. I didn’t even get a chance to test drive something or LOOK at something that would be a good replacement for the Rouge. This is very frustrating! I don’t like the car buying process to begin with! And this type of experience is NOT helpful at ALL!

Any explanation or help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank You!Desired Settlement: As mentioned in my message that has been communicated with Mad City Sales three times now.

I want to lower my car payments! Get me in a cheaper GOOD/RELIABLE car with a much lower monthly payment!

OR buy back this Rouge for the price you sold it me at and I will go else where with my business!

Hello,

I'm glad [redacted] was able to help you through this! We strive hard to train our team in a way so they view all interactions from a guests point of view. I'm very sorry we missed the mark with your transaction and its this sort of feedback that helps us get stronger in our skill-sets to provide a better experience for our guests! We are able to present various offers to aide people with their transportation problems/needs. We cannot make final financial decisions for our guests and it is ultimately up to them to decide if our presented offers suit their needs. Much more often than not we hit the nail on the head but there are surely some we miss.

Thank you again for the feedback and I hope you have a better feeling of my business , my intentions and my team!

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

This morning I resolved my issue with mad city sales. I worked with the direct sales manager and was able to get a deal and a car that fit all my requests. I would say I am 100% satisfied.

Review: On 5/07/15, I went to look at vehicles, I was asked to fill out a credit app, and pay 300.00 down payment.. After 3 hrs I was told I didn't qualify, and was ushered out the door, I had to wait about a week for my down payment to be returned. The sales person [redacted] told me my credit would only be ran once, and they would send the information to the banks, I found out my credit was inquired 13 times... Later my Wife started to receive denial letters from banks she didn't apply to, when we called the banks to see why, they told us mad city sales had submitted her information, this was done without her consent, writing or verbal, as she was not there that day. On 6/01/15 I called mad city sales to complain about this and I was transfered other [redacted] who handled me on 5/7. I informed her that my wife's credit was being ran without her permission, and her response was "wi is a marriage state, it doesn't matter which one of you applies we can run both of your credit checks" I told her that was not true, and she proceeded to act in a manner as if we were did not know our rights as consumers. My wife did not at anytime ever give mad city sales permito run her credit on that day, and the inquiries have negatively affected our credit report.Desired Settlement: Mad city sales and their partner banks need to have those inquiries removed from our credit reports and they must admit their wrong doing and issue an apology.

Response:

Dear Mr.[redacted], Let me start this out with a heartfelt

apology. Never do we intend to upset a customer of ours. Although you

did not purchase a vehicle from us I still consider you a valued

customer for taking time out of your

life to allow us the opportunity to earn your business. After our

discussion I was happy that we where able to work out the conflict. To

be perfectly honest there was a lot of poor communication between the

sales person and their manager. We do the best

we can to train our staff in providing excellent customer service and

unfortunately we fall short of our goals every now and again. I do thank

you for your understanding in this matter and look forward to visiting

with you at your work. Like yourself I get

a lot of joy from helping people, I think [redacted] Youth Services does

a lot of good work in our community that goes unrecognized or

appreciated. See you soon, thanks again.

Review: On Saturday, September 19, 2015, I went to Mad city auto sales to inquiry about purchasing a vehicle. I was greeted by salesman **. I spent several hours there completing paperwork and providing proof of the required documents. After I completed the first task, salesman ** presented a 2013 Chrysler 200 for a test drive. Prior to entering the the vehicle, I questioned ** about the price of the vehicle and the value of trade for my vehicle. He told me that he did not know any details but we would get the numbers from finance at the end of the test drive. Upon arriving back at the sales location, ** spoke shortly with another employee and returned to tell me that he had great news..I was approved for the vehicle and could drive home today. He stated that the bank would like me to put down $1200 in addition to my trade. I informed ** that I did not come prepared to put down that amount of money. He asked if I when I would be prepared with the down payment. I informed him that I wouldn't be able to get the money until Tuesday and that's if I can could borrow from a friend. ** asked if I would be able to put any amount down so that the vehicle could be taken off of active inventory otherwise the vehicle may not there when I returned. I told him that I only had 200.00 with me. He said that I could put the 200.00 down and come back on Tuesday with the other $1000. I questioned ** what my options would be if I was unable to get the other $1000. He stated my paperwork would be shredded and my $200 would be returned. ** offered for me to drive the Chrysler 200 home so I could get comfortable with the vehicle and help me to decide by Tuesday if I wanted to submit the paperwork for vehicle purchase. I drove the vehicle home and was unable to obtain the remaining $1000. I returned to the dealership on Monday, September 21. I again spoke with ** and told him that I was unable to borrow the money along with other concerns. ** stated that he was going to get my vehicle from the back of the sales location and that he would get my 200.00 check. As I am removing my items from the unpurchased vehicle, ** brought out his manager [redacted]. He then also asked why I was not purchasing the vehicle. I explained my situation to him also and asked if either if them had the 200.00. [redacted] stated that it would have to be a check from their accounting department. After being inside for about two minutes ** returned to tell me that the accounting department is closed. He would have them process the refund on Tuesday. By Wednesday I had not heard from anyone at mad city auto sales so I called and spoke with **. He stated that he wasn't sure if the check was processed but would inquire in accounting and call later in the day. I have not heard from anyone at mad city and I have not received the return of my money.Desired Settlement: Return of $200.00

Response:

Hello,After looking into the situation, We discovered that the form to request the refund for down payment was not processed. After discovery of this, Mad City Sales promptly processed and sent out a refund check in the full amount. We sincerely apologize for the unfortunate incident and hope that once you are in a better position to purchase a vehicle you can give us another chance. As a Dealer for The People, we are only as strong as our weakest link. With this in mind, we have discovered we needed a better process to initiate any deposits owed to our customers. We thank you for bringing it to our attention and have changed the process to make sure it does not happen again. Best Regards,[redacted], GSMMad City Sales.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Regards,

This is the worst car lot That I have been in contact with they said they needed 20% down I called back today and tell them ok and they had an attitude there are better car lots in Madison to go To stay away from this place very rude people

After waiting for over an hour and a half and numerous harassing calls from their salesperson throughout the week, upon finishing a loan deal for purchase of a vehicle I requested the licenses plates for my car be returned to me they could not find them. Once they learned of where they were they reported that the plates to my car were indeed not on the premises and actually in another employees car. Also missing from my car was my garage door opener in which they have no idea the whereabouts. Furthermore they were in such a rush to get me out of there they did not return my down payment money. Once I returned home I noticed a very large gouged scratch in my door which was not there at time of trade in. When I brought the down payment to the attention of the salesperson she tried very quickly to end the call. After spending 8 hours there on 9/28 in addition to 2 hours on 10/1 this is the most horrific car sales experience in my life. I will never ever advise anyone to do business with Mad City Sales.
