Review: After I bought a 2009 Subaru WRX from them, I had it safety inspected and found that the transmission was leaking and the rack and pinion was leaking and part of the suspension was broken. I then contacted Mad City Sales about the issues with the car, and they refused to fix any of the problems. Since then I have put about $3,000.00 into repairing the car that should have been fixed before the car was even put on the lot to sell.Desired Settlement: I would like to be paid back the amount that I have spent on repairing the car.

Response:

Dear Mr.[redacted], I have received and reviewed your

complaint from the Revdex.com. After reviewing all the documents on file I have

come to the following conclusion. On July 8th of 2014 you purchased a

Subaru Impreza WRX from our dealership.

Before the vehicle was offered for sale it passed a safety inspection,

the inspection concluded that all safety related items are in good

working condition and the vehicle is legal to be driven on Wisconsin

roadways. We disclosed on the buyers guide the condition

of the vehicle at the time of the inspection and you agreed to take

delivery of the vehicle in that condition by signing the buyers guide at

the time of delivery. In your complaint you reported that the purchase

price was $24,000. After reviewing the purchase

contract I have found that the sales price was actually $17995. When

you purchased the vehicle from us the Kelly Blue Book value of the

vehicle was $19,477, so I would have to say we discounted the vehicle as

much as we could to meet your financial needs.

A Subaru Impreza WRX is a very sought after vehicle to own by a large

population of automotive enthusiasts due to its turbo engine and

performance handling capabilities. Owning such a vehicle typically

comes with a higher cost of ownership due to the extra

strain put on the vehicle components. The extra strain leads to a higher

component failure rate, unfortunately this leads to the owner spending

more money to maintain the vehicles condition. With this said, we are

more than willing to work with our customers

to help them keep their vehicle in good working order. I would be more

than willing to work with my service department to resolve your issues

at a discounted rate. Please contact me at your convenience to set up a

good time that works for you to bring the

vehicle in to our service department.[redacted]GSMMad City Sales

Review: We purchased a 2010 Toyota Camry from Mad City Auto Sales. Upon arrival at the dealership we noticed that NONE of the vehicles had price stickers on them. We were approved for a loan but after missing one payment we were told by the loan company that our APR shot up to 21% and that we now owe more that $31,000 which is more than the Blue Book value as well as the purchase of a brand new vehicle. We feel that the salespeople and managers of the dealership are decieving the consumers by not posting price stickers and letting them know that the APR will get higher if you miss one payment.Desired Settlement: We would like to see that our loan APR is lowered.

Business

Response:

Dear Mr.[redacted], we have received your complaint and have

carefully reviewed all actions that occurred during our retail

transaction. Before we present a vehicle on our lot for retail sale the

vehicles are inspected. The inspection

ensures us and the customer that all safety related items are safe and

functional. The WI buyers guide (window sicker) is completed by myself

which discloses any known defects and what the vehicle was previously

used for. We have another shop that completes

all of our re-conditioning and when the vehicle gets to our retail

location there is a short period of time when the vehicle is parked

behind our building and marked "not inspected for sale". Sometimes

people ask to see those cars, at that time I will complete

the inspection paperwork and make the car available to show to a

respected client. When we are completing our retail transaction the

customer signs a retail installment agreement contract, that contract

assigns the debt owed on the vehicle purchased to a financial

institution. By signing the contract the customer is agreeing to abide

by the rules set in place by the lender. If a customer defaults on

their payments there is likely to be a penalty fee associated with such

actions, those penalty fees are not administered

by Mad City Sales Inc they are from the lender the contract is assigned

to. Further more: all retail installment contracts that are assigned in

the state of Wisconsin are assigned on a fixed annual percentage rate, I

would advise contacting your lender if

you see a rate change from what is on your contract. I hope this

response has provided you with some clarity on the actions that took

place during your experience while purchasing a nicer, newer car. While

we strive for 100% customer satisfaction sometimes

that's just not obtainable due to poor communication, and for that I

sincerely apologize. We worked very hard to make you a customer of ours

and will continue to work hard to keep you a customer of ours. Thank You

and God bless. [redacted]GSM Mad City Sales and Service

Review: The vehicle I purchased has had nothing but problems since we purchased it. We've tried contacting them and they just keep saying it's normal bc we've owned it so long but we haven't owned it very long. The sales person that sold us the car was rude and lied to us about the car and told us we had no choice but to buy the car because no one else would help us. We feel they took advantage of the situation because they knew we had a baby coming and needed a bigger car. We traded in our car and they lied about how much it was worth. After 8 hrs in there dealership we got a vehicle we didn't want and then 2 weeks later our battery died and then 6 mo later our brakes went out. A year later all of our tires blew out and now a yr and a half later were having transmission problems and they won't return our cars. My husband is a US Army veteran and feels betrayed and angry for there actions. All we wanted was a reliable vehicle for our family and now because of there actions we can't go thru anyone else to get a reliable vehicle.Desired Settlement: We would like either all our money back that we've paid in financing out a replacement of a reliable vehicle.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. [redacted],

Review: Purchased a used 2006 Jeep Liberty May 25. Before driving off the lot with the Liberty I hd told them the A/C was not working properly. Stated that the air was not cold and the fan had to be on high in order for any air to be felt. They kept the car overnight to repair the issue. When I recieved the car back the air coming out of the A/C was alot colder, however after driving the car for longer than 30 mins the air was no longer cold and could not be felt unless it was on high. Took the truck back into to be repaired again because this is the same problem I had before I purchased the car and the agreement was that they would fix the A/C before I purchased it. They stated that the probelem was with the fan for the A/C and cost of the A/C fan was not covered under my warrenty and I would have to pay for it. I stated that this was supposed to be fixed before I left the lot with it. They told me that they did not check the fan they just filled the fluid to correct the tempurature. Looking at my buyers guide for the Liberty there is no mention that there is any sort of problems with the A/C at all. I believe this is not something I should have to pay for since I asked it to be fixed before I left the lot they simply fixed a part f the problem and not the major issue at hand which was the fan.Desired Settlement: I would like the repairs done withou any charge to m. Since this is something I asked to be fixed and they stated they would fix it.

Review: Fiancee and I previously bought a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The car was loud from the start we were told, "sounds like a Jeep." I don't know what that's supposed to mean but we were desperate for a new car. After we took the car it only got louder. We I brought it into the service department at Mad City Sales I was told I would have to come back another day, even though I had an appointment. I decided to take it to my family mechanic who I have known and trusted for years. I was told there was extensive exhaust issues which would cost over $1000. When I buy a car from a dealership I do not expect to have to deal with these types of problems, unless I am made aware before I buy the car in question. Finally the dealership allowed us to trade the Jeep for a 2008 Dodge Caliber. I drove the car for about a month when it started to get very loud and refused to make tight left turns and finally it died in the middle of a busy intersection. I was able to get it started and got the vehicle home however the car was very loud afterward. The next morning I drove about half a mile from home to run an errand and the car died again. I had made an appointment already for a full inspection but did not feel safe driving it half an hour into Madison so again I brought it to my family mechanic. I was informed that it needed a new alternator and was not safe to drive. After calling the dealership multiple times I was finally connected to the salesman we had been working with. He was helpful however did not return any of my calls regarding my warranty. We can now no longer afford to keep this car, we either pay the monthly payment or pay to repair it. It is not logical to do one or the other however we cannot afford both. It makes no sense to pay for repairs on a new car especially when we were told there was "nothing wrong with it." I have called multiple times over the last three days and have only been routed to voicemail. As this is the second time this has happened I am considering legal counsel and we will be taking time off of work to deal with this issue in person.Desired Settlement: As this is the second time we have had this type of issue I want both of our down payments refunded and our loan agreement to be settled by the dealership. If this is not possible I want all repairs to be made by the dealership with no cost to us and negotiations made with the bank who holds our loan so that we may defer our payments until the car is proper working condition.

Review: I stopped in at Mad City Sales a few weeks ago to check out some of their cars and prices. A salesperson showed me around and we looked at a 2012 Toyota Camry, so I asked about the price and he insisted it is priced at the Kelly Blue Book value, so I believed him and bought the car (it has quite a few scratches on the outside and a few cuts on the interior). After I brought the car home I checked out the suggested retail price for dealers on Kelly Blue Book website. I realized that the salesperson had lied to me, as I had paid $21,999 for my car and it was only worth $18,000 at the most. So now I'm in an upside down car deal. I made a copy of the Kelly Blue Book price information and took it back to Mad City Sales to show them the price on Kelly Blue Book at suggested retail price for dealers. I told them I was lied to about the price. I got to talk to the general sales manager by the name of Jason for a few minutes and he was VERY rude and said he doesn't care and that it wasn't his problem. He said he doesn't have time for me and did not even listen to me.Desired Settlement: I feel as a business they should not lie to customers and if they do and the customer finds out, they should apologize and do whatever it takes to fix their mistake. I would appreciate if they admitted that their salesperson lied about the price and deduct $3000 to $4000 off the $21,999 as that would bring it down to the Kelly Blue Book value (at the suggested retail price for dealers) which is what the salesperson and the general manager insisted it's priced at. I would not ask for this if I was not lied to about the price.

Review: On my birthday in April, I decided to get a different vehicle. My old car was a 1999 Toyota Camry. I was hoping to upgrade and also make payments to help my credit. I was able to purchase a 2007 Jeep Liberty. When I test drove the Jeep I told them I didnt think the starter felt right. They said it started fine. Almost the very next day after I drove it home, it wouldnt start. I called Mad City. They said to bring it in. I had to call AAA and sign up for towing. The garage at Mad City said it was the fuel pump, so they replaced it. I said How do I pay for that? They let me charge it. I found out later it was under warranty. The very next day it wouldnt start again. I called AAA again to start it, thinking it was the battery. He tapped under the Jeep and it started. This time it WAS the starter. By now I have a $700.00 bill. Im trying to help my credit but instead Im getting in deeper. After a month, my driver side window wouldnt go up and a rear window. I wanted them to fix them, but the said they wouldnt because of the bill for the pump and starter wasnt paid. So they just taped them up. I asked them to take the bill off for the pump as it was under warrenty.( I forgot to mention that after they fixed the fuel pump, the gas gauge wouldnt work) It worked fine when I first drove it home. I wanted to talk to the manager, Tony, but was never able too. He did call me and said maybe we can work something out. I told them at the garage, but they said I had to pay my bill. With winter coming I had to do something with the windows, so I went a cheap route and had them blocked up. They kept telling me its a used vehicle. to me, it was a step up, as my old car was a 1999. The Jeep is 2007.Desired Settlement: Dont know what to do, as the monthly payments are ok and dont want to raise my insurance. If I can replace the vehicle and keep the same payments would be good. Im totally stressed out about the gas gauge. I keep putting gas in it. Costing me too much. The guy at the garage said to just use the trip button. Would rather use the gas gauge. Im afraid I will run out of gas and someone will ram into me. If cant replace the vehicle than fix the gas gauge for free.

good chance of any vehicle needing service work down the road. We are

Review: About a year ago I decided that I would purchase my first vehicle and start building my credit with the help of Mad City Sales. After a year of making payments on what was suppose to be a loan in which I was the borrower and my mother was the co-signer, we found out it was actually exactly opposite of that. When paperwork for the loan was filed, my mothers name was put as the borrower and that I would be the co-signer. I came to Mad City Sales after hearing lots of advertisement about how I would be approved for a loan that day, even with poor credit or in my case, no credit. After failing to get me approved for a loan that day because I was a "ghost" with no credit history, we decided the best route would be to find a co-signer. My mother made a lengthy drive in from Illinois to Wisconsin to make this happen for me, I was told with my mother as a co-signer a loan would be easily achievable. I drove away fairly happy with a used Nissan Sentra. A year later when trying to renew my license plates, we find that the loan was put under my mothers name and that pretty much anything imvolving my vehicle would need to approved by her, so she now has to drive from IL to WI to help me with anything involving the DMV. This was suppose to be my vehicle, it technically is not. The entire purpose of buying this vehicle was to have my own car and to build my credit, this is now not helping me at all in either sense..Desired Settlement: Car loan needs to be paid off so we can restructure something new that puts the loan and the car title in my name.

Hello [redacted],I'm sorry you don't like our ads. We DO everything our ads say that we do AND we have our ads reviewed by state agencies regularly to make sure we are well within the laws of WI and USA. We take every persons situation and try to fit it with the special programs we offer. We are the only dealership I know of in the state that can do the programs we offer. If someone at my store did not make you feel welcomed I will certainly deal with that sternly. Your complaint states you bought a car which I cannot find any sign that you have. Please elaborate so I can find your paperwork and get to the bottom of this! Thank you for your feedback and I look forward to hearing from you soon![redacted]President Mad City Sales

I wanted to say that my visit to Mad City Sales was one of my best experiences ever buying a car. When I got there [redacted] started showing me cars that were in my price range and the style of car I wanted. They were very friendly there and were able to show me what I needed to know when I bought my Borrego. After a short while, [redacted] put me in my car. I wanted to thank them for the best experience I ever had.

Review: On May 3rd 2014 I went into Mad City Sales to look at a vehicle. I signed a form agreeing to check my credit and see where I qualified not to see if they could fiance it at that moment. However they didn't just pull my credit they sent out 9 hard credit inquires for financing for a vehicle I didn't ask to buy. I asked to see a truck but never said I wanted to see if we could get a loan. They contacted 9 different credit companies and I didn't know about it till about a week later. I received a rejection letter for a loan I didn't authorize for an amount I didn't recognize. They didn't tell me a price of the vehicle and I never sat down with anyone to discuss buy the vehicle. I believe this is unfair practice and it will take a lot of work to have these removed from my credit report. I am upset that they didn't discuss anything with me and tell me what they were doing.Desired Settlement: I want them to help us retract these inquires by admitting they did it without our permission and sending us a letter that we can send to the places they contacted. I have the list of companies they contacted with out my permission.

Response:

Hello,

I did a personal review of documents to see what may have happened. On the credit app it states, just above signature line, that we may send info to financial institutions to attempt to obtain credit. That said I am very sorry of the miscommunication while you were at my store. As all situations are different we will sometimes present information to lenders to find what the BEST terms may be for someone. We work VERY hard to find our guests the best terms possible. As credit reporting agencies know it takes multiple inquiries to obtain the best terms for clients they rarely with penalize a score for multiples. We follow guidelines set forth by the government on all aspects of procuring auto credit for our guests. Removal of the inquiries will probably not increase credit worthiness. Again, sorry for any error in communication and I hope this satisfies your quest in maintaining your credit score.

Thank you,

I went to mad city in response to their advertisment that they could help if I owed more than my vehicle was worth. I made an appointment and showed up on time. my app. was for 10 am. when I finally left, I was told the bank was on line but some details needed to be finalized. they also required some other documentation which we provided. Over the next week, I played phone tag with what had to be every person in the building. I was told people were in when it was their day off, I was told they were just working the bank for a better rate, and many other things.

Keep in mind, I have been driving this vehicle for 9 days and my trade just sat their. Finally, on day 9, they called and told me that they did not have financing because of the negative equity in the van. I would advise that you stay away from mad city sales. I cannot tell you how many lies I was told over the last week, but it was several. They will not be honest nor are they ethical!!

I purchased a 2010 Jeep from this place in July 2015. I didn't mind that they took me in and made sure I was able to be approved before I shopped. Once I was approved however, I was shown one car as an option. It looked in decent condition. On the sales tag it stated that there was unibody damage to the vehicle. I asked Candy where the unibody damage was located and the only answer she could produce was, "I don't know. It was inspected though and we would not sell this car if it wasn't safe." (It was only when I got home that I noticed that directly in front, nearly pushing into my radiator was the unibody frame damage. According to the carfax, this car was in one accident but the airbags never deployed. The unibody damage looks like the airbags should have deployed!)
I was practically bullied into buying the car, Candy stated that this offer was only good for the day and so on, so of course I took it. I was in dire need for a vehicle to get to and from work every day and with my bad credit I thought I had no other options.
As soon as I drove it off the lot and was on my way home, I noticed there was significant vibration coming from the rear of the vehicle. I pulled over immediately and called them and they scheduled a service appointment for me. When I brought the vehicle in they rotated my tires for me. The vibration seemed to go away but then I noticed significant pulling to one side. I brought it in again, this time to get an oil change as well. they ended up having to rotate the tires and balance them for me. They told me that I would have to replace my tires because they were pretty worn and a lot of the issues I was experiencing was because of that. The gentleman told me my tires were about six years old... ON A FIVE YEAR OLD VEHICLE. When I got home I looked closer at the tires on my vehicle and noticed that they were TWO DIFFERENT SIZES OF TIRES on the car and they weren't even the CORRECT SIZE that was supposed to be on the vehicle!!
Granted, I am no car expert and probably should have noticed that before I bought the vehicle but at the same time those ies should have had the decency to use the right sized tires. Since then, I have had to put $1,200 into the vehicle in repairs.
After my first oil change with Mad City Auto Sales, they told me that my tires were getting bad and I would need to replace them. They also told me about one of the valve stem sensors being out. All in all, total repairs would have been around the $900 mark.
So seven months later, I've actually needed to replace two valve stem sensors, three of four calipers, rear brakes, soon to be front rotors and brakes and all four tires.
Not to mention KBB and fair value price for this vehicle is about $8,000 and it was sold to me for $13,000?

Review: Let's see I bought a car a 6/03/2015. The Vehicle is a 2009 Toyota Corolla. When I first test drove it with TJ I first asked does this car have AC, does everything in this car function and do you guys inspect the cars before selling them. I have always been nervous with new cars so I figured id ask. Tj said yes everything is inspected and that the car does have AC. I mentioned the ac wasn't blowing cold air. TJ said no worries will schedule you an appointment to get it recharged free of charge. I go in the next week on a wed and after an hour of waiting I'm asked to come to shop and they proceed to tell me that they attempted to recharge the AC an fill it up but to find out it was my condenser. Then go on to say it's 591$ to fix. I'm like um I've only had this car a week and you guys were aware of the ac not working properly when I test drove it. I would not have purchased the car had I known that it will be a problem I would have to fix only having the car a week and being told they would take care of it. Next I asked about my warranty. Tj in the process of selling me the vehicle told me he got me the best warranty available for the car. I told them I don't have 591$ to fix a car I just got last Tuesday. The lady in the shop told me warranties don't cover AC which baffles me. I can see if I had the car a good while but I haven't. On the first call attempt I explained to the salesman the issue that had occurred when I was there. The gentlemen told me that's not how they do business and he was going to ask Tj about it. The salesman put me on hold. Minutes later he said yes TJ said you was in here and that my ac did need to be recharged Since then I'm told they will take care of it, no answers, unanswered voice-mails,call your warranty to number, talk to Tj, etc. For a customer who just bought the car all you have to do is fix the ac condenser with no arguments or putting me through a triangle of lies an not getting back to me. ive called numerous occasions with no resolve. I shouldn't have to play phone tag and go back and fourth for something small like Ac.I have no problem with TJ but these guys are ridiculous. I'm ready to say take this car back. I cant even enjoy my new vehicle fully because this issue. I even called an just said can I get my warranty information or could you mail it to me. Im told sure let me transfer your call. I get a voice-mail, I left my name and number and still no response. I have a the buyers guide in my car that has everything checked off for working. which obviously is a lie. Tj says they inspect all there vehicles which seems to be a lie also otherwise I wouldn't have this issue. I am running out of patience and ideas.Desired Settlement: Either repair my vehicle, give me my old car back which im sure is gone, or lower my payments. Something has got to give.

I have found that buying cars is hit or miss when it comes to the
dealership. When I went to Mid City Auto Sales I was unsure what I was
going to be getting. I have been burned before and has left a bad taste
in my mouth. They really came through. I purchased a car a couple weeks
ago and [redacted] work with me on the financing. They made sure that my
experience was exceptional. I felt that they genuinely cared about what
was happening. If you want exceptional service and want to deal with
people with integrity then you need to go to mad City Auto Sales.

They Agreed to one price and then changed it and flew through the paper signing without really giving me time to read. They sold the vehicle to me for more than it's worth. Never will I go back.

do not go here or trust anything they say

I've taken way too long in praising mad City Auto Sales. They were
awesome. They were very honest funny and kind. I brought a clunker into
the dealership and they did not make me feel bad about its condition.
They gave me as much as they could to trade in. They had a great car for
me to buy that was in my price range and I bought it that day because I
can't be one day without a vehicle with kids in school. This car is
fantastic. I've had no issues and I am totally happy with what I decided
on buying. I trust these people to the limit.

Response:

In regards to the complaint filed by [redacted] (in my system as [redacted]).

We have had great success getting a lot of folks qualified for our nickel down payment program. We cannot get everyone approved with only a nickel down. We have to take all of the puzzle pieces presented to us from a guest, fit them with a vehicle we have in stock and a lender we do business with. We do not advertise a program we do not have.

I am sorry this gentlemen did not qualify for this exact program and if my team brought him in here they had a good idea he WOULD qualify for it. We don't like to waste our time either.

We do have many that can qualify with under $1000 income , but, they might have had many other circumstances in order to get qualified as well. The many different pieces of info that go into these programs come together during the in-store consultation. We don't do Buy Here Pay Here and fit folks with real, nationwide lenders and help them change their lives and get on track.... every day we do this.

Bottom line is we DO advertise programs we can back up. Period. Can we get EVERYONE qualified for EVERY program... NO. We DO try our best. We have non-commission sales team that's paid to help folks. That's all we do here!

Thank you and I apologize if there was any confusion.
