On Saturday December 30, 2017, my husband took our daughter to purchase a vehicle when she came home from college for Christmas break. The sales associate *** sold my daughter a 2010 ***. I'd given my daughter $1,000 for Christmas and she used that as a down payment towards the purchase of the vehicle. After spending five hours at the dealership, when preparing to leave, my daughter realized that the radio wasn't working. The radio needed a password to start it. The associate then informed my daughter that her vehicle would stay at the dealership for them to unlock the radio. They gave her a loaner car which was a 2016 Hyundai Civic. After leaving the dealership and parking the loaner, my daughter realized that the loaner wouldn't start back up. My husband called the dealership to inform them about the malfunction of the loaner and he was told that he should jumpstart the car. I called the dealership on Tuesday January 2nd and was transferred to several people. I spoke with ***, ***, *** and *** who informed me that the car my daughter purchased, still wasn't ready. *** took down my address and said he would send their representative out to our home to pick up the loaner car yet no one came out to pick up the loaner. On Wednesday January 3rd, I called the dealership back and was told by *** that my daughter's vehicle was not on their premises and that her car still wasn't ready. I informed him that my husband had taken off work to jumpstart the loaner car so that we can return it and that I wanted my money back because I no longer feel comfortable with my daughter receiving a car from this dealership. Albererto told me that I could not get my money back and that's a problem. My daughter needs to return to school with a reliable vehicle and this company has not been able to provide that. As a consumer, customer satisfaction should still be valued. McGrath City Honda has not provided quality service.

McGrath City Honda was able to deliver the vehicle as promised to our customer as soon as it had become complete and ready for delivery. Being that the vehicle sold was a *** and we are a Honda dealer we were unable to reprogram the radio code without having the vehicle sent to a *** dealer in order to scan the radio code and reset. McGrath City would like to apologize to Ms. due to the battery needing to be jumped on the loaner car that we provided her and any inconvenience it may have caused. It certainly isn't our intention to make things difficult, in fact we try to do everything we can to accommodate our customers. Again, we would like to apologize for any inconvenience the elapsed delivery time may have caused and hope Ms. has been enjoying her vehicle since. All the best!

1.Purchase a car on 1/30/17 out of necessity-drive it to work withing 24 hrs of owning the thing it has oil leaks, under parts lose and dragging, put car in reverse and it stays in neutral- take acr in- they claim oil leakage is normal based on wear and tear!!! Lose part was "fixed" diagnostics run - all seems fine.Pick up car drive away and duct tape came off on the lose flap under the car - THEY NEVER LOOKED UNDERNEATH THE CAR- NEVER checked about the oil leake EITHER!! finally the flap is fixed the computer is updated - seems to be fine.after many visits
2. 2 wks later,Reverse not working again + more issues Car huts down even while driving on HIGHWAY!Take car back in- find out need new transmission- before all this the Sales Manager, ***... typical steriotype of a sales man tells me there is nothing they can do- I insisted these are all issues when I first bought the LEMON!!!! Not cooprative and patronized me! Contacted *** MCGRATH- called back & listened to my complaint- NEW TRANSMISSION! done.
3.Car is fine for another two three weeks until OIL tank is dry!Car engine is dead- need a NEW ENGINE- *** McGrath - says theywill help but since they been so helpful (cough cough) they need at least $1000 to help with $4000 engine. I agreed thinking no choice- BUT these are issues we told them about the first 3 days of owning the car!!! I agree to pay installments - picked car up last monday - car dies next day- battery low voltage (WTH!!) HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN? call dealership - have car towed - jum started- all is ok they say- 24 hrs later car dies AGAIN- jump start drive straight to them - they ask for 120 to replace battery.NO!!! buy battery for 95 replace on my own.
4.4 days later - labor day weekend- Car dies at intersection - no gas- where did it go- gas leak under car-something must be lose since they replaced engine! Fire Dept called to clear the pool of gas it left- again no car-no way to get to work - and calls from delearship-I AM DONE!

McGrath City Honda Response

At this time McGrath City Honda has completed all services agreed upon with our customer. Being that the vehicle sold was signed off by Ms. at the time of sale as an "As is" vehicle purchase with no extended service contracts or implied warranties and the customer was presented with an Illinois state buyers guide stating this at the time of sale, McGrath City Honda has stood by our product and repaired all issues stated and has gone far above and beyond what was obligated in an effort to make Ms. content with her purchase. Not only have we repaired the vehicle but we also provided Ms. with a loaner vehicle while all repairs were being completed. With that, Ms. still has an outstanding balance to be paid to the dealership for violations received from the City of Chicago while in possession of our loaner vehicle. We have reached out to Ms. multiple times in an attempt to give her the opportunity to satisfy the violations which she had signed a loaner agreement form agreeing to all responsibilities for the loaner vehicle while in her possession but still have not received a response or any correspondence from her at this time. Again, McGrath City Honda has gone above and beyond our obligations regarding this transaction and would like finality upon receipt of all outstanding debts owed by the customer to our dealership.
