reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. I indicated in writing that I do not want overdrafts to be authorized. I signed the document. Therefore I was under the impression that if I ever was unable to cover a transaction, it would be declined and there would be no overdraft fee. In my opinion, M&T Bank is shady, greedy for money, and misleads it's depositors. I will be closing my account as a result. I also indicated in my complaint that I am willing to speak to the media. financial institution, there was an automatic direct deposit into my checking account for the amount of $800.00 and the $447.83 ACH payment withdrawal on the same date.  Per the banking representative, there is no way to as whether the chicken or the egg came first since this is nineteen months post date and the bank has since updated their archives.  We chose accept the offer presented to pay the single late fee of $67.17 with the remainder of the fees being waived.  On Friday February 3, 2017 I spoke with the Laura, the contact person presented in the resolution.  I was informed the only method of payment to resolve this was via check and was assured when it was received, the check would be applied to the account and the fees removed.  I was given a direct person (David [redacted], Project Manager 4) to send payment to in the Buffalo NY M&T Bank corporate location.  The same day I drafted a certified bank check in the amount of $67.17, and sent it USPS via overnight service (I paid an $42.50 for this) assuming my expedited service would assure this would be resolved quickly.  My tracking showed the FedEx envelope being received on Tuesday February 7, 2017 at 10:26am.   I called on Tuesday to ensure it was received and to discuss the time frame for resolve.  A customer service representative, Melissa, assured me the check would take no longer than 24-hours to process and that once receiving the check in hand, David [redacted], would remove the fees from the account.   Our account was not clear, or resolved until FRIDAY February 10, 2017.  It took FOUR days to process a bank check and remove fees from an account.  I find this absurd.  I also find it disheartening that as a dissatisfied customer, who has already expressed re-financing the loan to take my business to another lender, I would not be given better, more timely service.  Per Laura, once the check was delivered to David [redacted] (which did not happen until Wednesday February 8, 2017 - a FedEx PRIORITY shipment, sent direct to him), he then had to send it to another department to be processed, and only after that could the fees be removed.  I'm unsure why I sent it to him in the first place.  This type of service is horrible.  Not only are we happy to take our loan to another institution, but we will never use or recommend M&T Bank to any friends, business colleagues, and we will be leaving a poor review publicly now that this has been fully resolved.  Thank you Revdex.com for your assistance with this complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.   First of all, all the stated data is not only incorrect but a downright lie. Misinformation was provided by the bank and what I stated to Cindy R[redacted] and what was agreed to by her was that ALL, not only three NSF fees were to be reversed  This was due to the misinformation provided by thir rep and teller.  Secondly, the fees to date have Been reversed and taken right back by the bank. This NSF situation was caused solely by M&T Bank and instead of taking accountability they are looking to hide their tracks. I am presently filing with the Attorney General's office and consulting an attorney.   [redacted]

Before opening the account, I indicated that the only reason that I am opening the account is to get the coupon offer. I was told I will get it. After opening the account, I was told that the coupon expired but will try and there is hope to get the offer. I appreciate all MT and T saff but I specifically asked if I will get the offer before opening the account.I only came one day after the coupon expired and I was very busy due to the holiday season. I requested the above to close my checking account on 09/02/2015 via letter. I requested the account be closed due to astronomical fees which were not explained. I haven't heard anything from bank until I received statement for Aug-Sept 2015 in which I was charged an unexplained fee of 6.95 putting my account (which I requested be closed) in the negative (6.56). They are trying to be able to charge me additional fees for having a closed account with a negative balance. There is no justification for this 6.95 charge Please remove 6.95 fee and close account

Consumer filed a new complaint referencing this old ID#.  I filed a complaint against M&T Bank over their failed repayment plan system. To resolve the issue M&T recognized their error, agreed to remove all late fees for the timeframe involved, agreed to report me to the credit bureaus as current for the past 18 months and offered me a Loan Modification Package. I though this was fair and accepted their offer. I completed the loan modification and returned it. While I awaited a decision I held my 08/29/15 payment since I did not know how much was be due. I thought I had a good chance of getting the modification since they scheduled an appraisal of my home. When I didn't get a decision I called and was told that I was denied. I made the 08/15 payment that day. I was told that I could have been considered for a refinance if I had not mad the 08/29/15 payment late. First of all, that was never an offer, second of all if they made me current for the last 12 months 08/15 should not have been considered because it was not paid 30 days late. I feel like they intended to help me at all. I don't want something for nothing. I am a single mom who has been struggling to keep my home for the last 12 years. I just need some help. To make matters worst, I have reached out to another financial institution who was trying to assist me. The problem now is that my credit reports shows my M&T account as 30 days late for the past 12 months. That has taken my credit score down to below 600 and now they cant help me. I called M&T and was told that they only showed one late payment and that was for 08/15. I was transferred to customer service who said they show me as late 5 times in the last 12 months even though they have agreed that I paid as agreed during the repayment plan. The rep advised me that he could not see any agreement to report me as current during the repayment period and advised to take my complaint to the credit bureau for investigation. He said he was not removing anything or reporting anything that he did not see. When asked who would be able to see the info he said whoever was involved. I give up!!. Not only are they not going to help, but they are now preventing me from getting help from any other source. I believe they just want to take my home.  Correction to a credit report   If M&T had explained that by making me current, I was eligible to refinance and offered refinance as an option I would never had filled out the loan modification package. I don't think they should count the 08/15 payment as late since they never sent me the denial. I had to call them for the decision. I held the payment hoping that the modified amount would be less. I would like the lateness removed for 08/15. I would like to have my information reported to the credit bureau as current for the timeframe of the repayment plan as they agreed so I can try to get help from another bank.

After numerous calls in which first I was told it would go back into my account and then a series of lies saying the check would be mailed to me, the refund was FINALLY deposited back into my account.. I would NEVER recommend this bank to anyone and for sure I will make sure I never deal with them again.  The issue is closed to me now that I have the money back. The attachments provided by M&T Bank did not provide the answer, whether the default beneficiary was spouse or estate, which could have been conclusive and avoid the need for probate. Their representative erroneously claimed it had to be the estate under the law and refused us access to their legal department to clarify that error and understand the basis of their position. Their responses were non-responsive require further repeated inquiry on behalf of our client.
Due to the above, we opened an estate administration and our client incurred expenses greater than the value of the asset held with M&T.
M&T neglected to provide a response to our proposed resolve to this matter.

Here are clear details for M&T Bank to investigate further. 08/05 298.62 Payment deducted out of [redacted] Bank Account.  08/06 298.62  Payment deducted out of [redacted] bank account. Your records show that only one of these payments was received.  [redacted] bank account shows that both payments were deducted and nothing credited back.  No actual reversal back into [redacted] bank account occurred.  I have statements and account balances showing the balance was decreased each time by $298.62 from the [redacted] bank account.  A dispute was opened to find out where the payment went.  The dispute was closed with $298.62 returned to [redacted] bank in November 2015.  However, this was not a complete investigation as to where the additional funds(298.62) went.  A payment was simply returned to the [redacted] bank account causing the loan payment to be one month behind.    If both payments made were credited to the loan account, as should be, then the loan would be on time.  The additional $298.62 made in the beginning of August is still missing and according to the tracking # provided by [redacted] bank went to M&T bank.  As for the account showing a reversal, I have a printout of the loan activity statement where each month the account shows a reversal.  No one is sure what the reversal means including representatives from M&T.  They assume that it is reversed back to [redacted] bank for insufficient funds.  My son was told once by M&T Bank that the payment goes through another step where it gets credited to the auto loan and probably that is the term used for the transaction.(Not sure if this is correct, but this is what he was told).  The claim by M&T Bank that the July payment was returned for insufficient funds is incorrect.  At the time the first payment was made in early August,  the account had quite enough funds, so that when the auto deduction occurred again the second time in the beginning of August, it deducted funds again.  Please review all paperwork consisting of statements, account balances, tracking numbers, and letters explaining the issue sent multiple times to Consumer Asset Management.  One of the payments made in August is still missing and is at M&T bank based on the Company ID, but not credited to the auto loan.  I was told by M&T during their investigation that it went into a non-existing loan account.  If your investigation can focus on tracking where that one payment went, recovering it, and crediting it to the auto loan,  this issue will be resolved.  It did not get returned or reversed back to the [redacted] Bank account.  If you are unable to get the records from Consumer Asset Management, I will be happy to send them to whoever is investigating this.  I am looking for a resolution to this and the resolution is not that I am missing a payment, it is where in M&T Bank did my extra payment made in early August went.  Once it is found, it should be credited to the auto loan.

Not once, did they apologize for the inconvenience that a number of there employees has caused. If the case was that the bank decided to conduct business with me from the beginning , that should have been addressed up front. This was a process drawn out over a year's time span.  A clear indication that not one person at M and T bank has an understanding of what is really going on. Nor, has a solution to fix it. I am totally OK with not being able to do business with this company. It seems to me that M&T are finding every angle they can use to prove that they are not in error, when in fact they are.  Upon given more information on how I do not have the PIN number, I was still given an excuse that I had.  I no longer bank with M&T as well as my family and friends.  I do not wish to conduct business with an institution that says that I committed fraud upon myself and will not take the time to review the facts clearly or investigate the matter as I have.  Regards,

The following is a complete falsehood.The representative reviewed your request and informed you that your external bank account ending -4710 was currently suspended in the Bank to Bank Transfers service, and as a result, the transfers were unable to be processed. As part of M&T's due diligence and for your protection, after you submitted the transfer request online, M&T contacted [redacted] Bank to verify that the account ending -4710 was owned by you. Because [redacted] Bank refused to verify the account ownership, M&T cancelled the transfers and suspended the account. I was never advised of the above and infact I went through the M&T verification process with [redacted] bank which was successful. I'm sorry but M&T Bank is the most inefficient bank.

One M&T PlazaBuffalo, New York 14203Dear Michael,        I received your response dated November 2, 2017. After reading your response, it saddened me that your bank would not stand behind their mistakes. In regards to the check made out for $3920.77 to [redacted] D [redacted], that was a surplus to the escrow on the mortgage that I had with you for the property located at [redacted]. I had contacted your bank a couple dozen times over the last year and a half in regards to the divorce that I went through with my former wife [redacted]. Here are some dates that I expressed to you where I am to be reached and that all correspondences should be sent to my new address.  On March 27, 2017 your bank asked me to send you a letter by fax with my new address, my Social Security #, a request for information, and to spell out that the information is to be sent to me and not to [redacted]. The letter and requested information was faxed on April 26, 2017, at 10:57 AM (facsimile attached), also attached is an email from [redacted], in which the information and instruction I was asked to put in writing was ignored and the requested information was sent to her instead. (Email attached) On 06/08/2017 your own notes states that you called me back and in those notes it list my current address per that phone call, this was six days before the check was cut. There were many other correspondences between me and your customer service people, including supervisors, so the fact that we were no longer married and went through a hostile divorce was no surprise to your bank.  It was stated many times in the notes that your employees took in regards to our many conversations. The problem is, we are divorced, and there is a strained relationship between the two of us, so collecting this money by me to correct your banks mistake form my former wife is not an option, and half of this money she was not entitled too.  M&T Bank has an obligation to return the money to me, seeing that [redacted] has no claim to my half of the escrow and we both had an account with M&T Bank.  The mortgage officer made the check out to [redacted]. This check was signed by [redacted], (Copy in the notes) and applied to her new escrow account.  Now I finally did receive correspondence for M&T Bank and was informed that they cannot send me the notes regarding my account and they are not taking accountability for their mistake. After you were contacted by the Revdex.com, I received the notes that I was told I could not receive. They have just wasted a year’s time and effort of mine, with false promises, causing me a lot of grief, and probably are going to cost me money with this check. Legal fees, if I choose to take this to court. I was advised by an attorney to write this letter to give M&T Bank yet another chance to correct the error.  If this letter is not going to generate the remedy that I seek, then I have already notified you that I would contact the Jackson County Michigan’s attorney, as well as contact the office of Comptroller of the Currency, The Department of Finance that regulates banks, as well as the Consumer Finance. The response does not address the issues of my complaint.  At no time were the payments 90 days late or in a forclosure process.  Many of the functions described in the datail were performed after August 3, 2015 when the account was made current.  Also, the claim that they eliminated the 52.95 service charge without authorization on the account is a bold face lie.  They don't allow you to do anything material with the account until they have the documentation.  Furthermore, I have not even received the refund of $52.95 for the late charges.  This company continues to try to justify entering my brother's property without authorization, billing our family for them protecting "their interest" and outright lying about authorization while having absolutely no regard for the family of a lost love one.  You could call this business's behavior sociopathic.  I dealt with the power company, Cell phone company,  insurance companies, water softener rental, and health care companies.  Every one of them were sympathetic and I had no problems with.  M & T Mortgage was playing a game of "seeing how much they could take advantage of our misfortune."  I gave them my cell phone number the first time I called.  They didn't even bother contacting me once about any of these matters.  They even admitted that they remove the late fees on August 3, then they recharged them in closing.  That is pure evidence of scandalous behavior.  What's worse, I haven't even received that payment that they promised.  They have my address in St. Cloud.  It is written on both complaints that I have filed.  I will not let M & T Mortgage get away with cheating my family and my mission is to make sure they don't do this to any one else that has lost a loved one.  Regards, [redacted]

satisfactory to me.  I would argue that speaking with the M&T representative who stated we where still in forbearance until March, I asked for clarification on when the payment needed to be paid, he explained that the September payment would be due April 1 not March 1 as indicated in this letter. Also inlight of the over-estimated fees and the monies that have been applied toward our principle that Bayview did not apply properly, I should expect NO further penalties to our credit. (This was in a letter dated March 8, 2018 from Bayview Loan Services)Thank you for resolving this issue quickly.
