Muscular Moving Men Reviews (89)

I recently utilized MMM for a move from Maricopa, AZ to Chandler, AZ, on 24-Aug-2013. I had procrastinated on finding a mover, so the fact that this move was done on only a few days' notice is even more impressive. I don't remember the gentleman's name I spoke to on the phone but he was very polite, professional, and helpful. The quote was definitely reasonable compared to another company I had utilized six years ago. The three gentlemen who showed up (again, I don't remember their names), were simply the best. Each one introduced himself individually to myself and my wife, and they all used our names throughout the move. Every piece of furniture was handled carefully, everything was expertly wrapped, and the guys all had a great sense of humor. The move was finished in just over three hours, and at well below the original quote.

Although moving is never fun, MMM made this move as smooth and painless as I've ever experienced. I would not hesitate to recommend this company to anyone looking for a moving company.

We have used muscular moving men for the past 3 moves and they never fail to disappoint. They showed up 15 mins prior to their scheduled appointment to assess and design an effective plan of action. The guys are always friendly and ready to start working upon arrival. We were budgeted for 6 hours of work and the guys completed the job in 5 hours! If you are about to select a moving company, you have to look no further than the muscular moving men! Plus, some of them are really cute too! ;)

I used this company as they were referred by a co-worker. A total disaster. One person, Ronny, was limping as he worked out too much the day before was on his cell phone more than he was working. I was moving from a 980 sq. ft home to storage, 4 miles down the street, they were to move the heavy furniture only. This took almost 5 hours!!! 1 bedroom set, 1 small kitchen set, living room furniture, small refrigerator, washer and dryer and computer desk. My boyfriend finally after watching how slow they were moving disassembled the dining set, part of the bed. Several friends and family members watched in disbelief how they were talking of quitting the company, girlfriends etc and not working. It took almost 1 hours and 20 minutes to disassemble the bed. A friend tried to light a fire under them at the storage facility and actually assisted in unloading the truck as it was costing me $105/hour. When they finally finished I called the company and discussed the horrible service - I told them to watch the VIDEO and it is recorded by the storage facility. No satisfaction there!!! Plus the next day I get a call from the storage facility that the driver hit the pole with the keypad to exit/enter the facility and damaged that so they needed information to contact them about paying for the damage. I was looking for good service and did not find it here.

Review: All complaints aside there are these main things you should know about Muscular Moving Men

1. Muscular moving men lie on their website. They do NOT use the same crew for unloads in another state as they claim.

2. The head of the “claims” department is also the owner (how convenient)

3. Muscular moving men hire UNPROFESSIONAL and UNTRAINED workers for unloads who do NOT wear uniforms.

4. Muscular moving men uses NON COMPANY VEHICLES for unloads then REFUSE to acknowledge damages as a result.

5. Muscular moving men is a classic “Bait & Switch” company. They are very professional during the load. Then will use unprofessional and untrained workers to unload everything.

If you value the things you own and are wondering if you should choose Muscular moving men. Stop here and DON’T. Hire a reputable company that uses professional workers during both load and UNLOAD. These movers can be replaced, your valuables at a despicable $0.60 per pound cannot be. Run away from this company while you still can!

Below is our nightmare…

I feel Muscular moving men are masters of bait and switch policies, they do not honor the promises they make.

I hired muscular moving me for a long distance move from Phoenix, AZ to WA State in April 2015

I hired them because of what they have posted on their website and what I was told the day the man came to do the estimate and because of what I was told again by the main contact man the day of my move. Muscular moving men was the only company I researched and had come do estimates that promised my items would be picked up and delivered by the same people.

Below is information from their website http://www.muscularmovingmen.com/LongDistanceMoving.php

"Long distance moves take place with a driving distance of fifty miles or more, and we have the same crew handle your load, drive it to wherever it needs to go, and unload it at the new location. This comprehensive start-to-finish approach guarantees that you will know the people who are responsible for your items from beginning to end. Our company never hires unlicensed, untrained, or uninsured “temporary laborers” to handle your belongings, and with the same crew at origin and destination means there is always accountability for quality, with no passing the buck or blame on to someone else."

When they picked up my items in AZ they were very nice and the explained the 60 cents per pound per item for the insurance I explained that I have moved 15 times in 20 years just me and my husband and I had never had so much as a broken dish, so I felt comfortable with the basic insurance, after all they were professionals. Had I known that they would lie to me and not use the same crew to unload as they had to load I would have purchased extra insurance. I deliberately and specify confirmed with multiple people that it would in fact be the same crew for both the load and unload. I was also told as they were taking apart my furniture that they would reassemble everything when it was delivered in WA.

When the moving men showed up in WA in May of 2015 there were supposed to be 3 movers there were 2 plus a man with a clipboard and the driver The man with the clipboard was the only one wearing a muscular moving men shirt and I saw him maybe 15 minutes total the whole time they were there (about 6 hours) he told me the driver couldn’t pull the truck into my driveway but he didn’t even try (the people who just moved out of this house had a semi in the driveway, he said the turn was to sharp and mentioned using my neighbor’s yard to maneuver the truck I told him that would be fine then he used my cell phone to call his office several times and ultimately decided to leave the truck at the bottom of my street.

I never once saw the driver, and the 2 other movers showed up in a beat up Honda civic , one of the guys was shirtless and the other guy was wearing a shirt from “[redacted] strip club” which towards the end of the day he removed and left it hanging on my mailbox so then he was shirtless as well.

They shoved my items into the Honda civic and drove them up the hill to my house. I was never offered or told about a shuttle service during this entire time.

After everything was unloaded there was no mention of re-assembling the items that they took apart I had different pieces to tables and beds all over the house nothing was even in the same room and nothing was re-assembled

I have a total of 16 damaged items 4 of those items are high ticket items that cannot be repaired and must be thrown away. 2 of the items are missing (I have the list below)

$333.00 kitchen table (broken beyond repair structure of table is compromised) TRASH (you approved at $12)

$59.99 lamp (broken beyond repair) TRASH (you approved at $6)

$64.99 wall clock (broken beyond repair) TRASH (you approved at $6)

$55.00 bed frame (missing piece and can't use bed frame without it ) TRASH

$99.95 TV wall mount MISSING (you approved at $3.50)

$29.99 platter (not on list because it was packed very securely in a box broken beyond repair) TRASH (you don’t even have this listed)

Total $642.92

I called muscular moving men to explain my dissatisfaction with the broken items and was told to fill out a damage claim form and submit pictures which I did, then he wanted me to put in the weights of each item. Needless to say the time it took me to go through every box (100 of them) to look for broken items and then to take pictures of everything and then try to figure out the weight of everything was very time consuming and very stressful.

I expressed my concern to the damage claim manager who is also the owner (conflict of interest?) that they were not going to take care of me and was told “I promise we will make it right” They didn’t make it right instead they sent me a check for $291 for all the items damaged and missing. (Just the 4 high ticket items and the 2 missing items are worth more than that)

The owner then proceeded to send me copies of the original inventory lists and stated that 2 of the items he paid me for were already damaged according to the inventory list which was never brought to my attention at the time of the load, yet an item that the movers broke the day they loaded the truck in AZ was not marked as damaged on the inventory list at all, and the mover even brought it to me and the main guy doing the inventory and showed us that he broke it. Also on the inventory was a twin box spring (I don’t even own a twin box spring) so that goes to show how accurate their inventory sheets are.

I am requesting a full refund of my moving costs because of the bait and switch practices of this company. I never would had hired them had I not been assured several times that the same people would handle my move from start to finish.

I believe they took advantage of me because they knew I was a new widow under a huge amount of stress which is why I hired them in the first place.

The owner’s response to the movers using the beat up Honda civic was the most unprofessional response;

“With regard to taking the items up the driveway in a Honda, I apologize if you did not approve of this. To date we are uncertain what if any damage was caused by the use of this vehicle”

And his response to the mover with the inappropriate attire (remember I was told on several occasions that would be the same uniformed movers that loaded the truck in AZ);

“ was dissatisfied that one of the movers wore a shirt that portrayed a woman from an exotic dance club and we certainly apologize for this. I agree that it is not professional"

In closing;

I expect to be refunded for the entire move $3,508.00 due to the misrepresentation from the company that the same uniformed crew would both load and unload my belongings.Desired Settlement: I expect to be refunded for the entire move $3,508.00 due to the misrepresentation from the company that the same uniformed crew would both load and unload my belongings, which is a classic "bait and switch scam"

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Muscular moving men has NOT provided service outline by the contract. 1. A shuttle service was not used or offered as the contract states. (there has been NO recourse or resolution to this!) The contract was BREACHED plain and simple.2, Muscular moving men DID NOT USE THE SAME CREW FOR UNLOAD as stated on their website! (False advertisement clear as day) Even go as far as to use NON UNIFORMED untrained workers.the fact that Muscular moving men's complete disregard of these two facts is blatantly obvious they are trying to avoid it. End of day they did not provide the service outlined, and provide false advertisement by using different crews for unload after informing customers that would not be the case.

Response:

To Whom It Concern,Representatives of Muscular Moving Men were provided and present on this shipment at the origin and destination. There were no charges assessed to the shipper for any shuttling service. Respectfully,[redacted]Muscular Moving Men

Do not use this group. They do not abide by their own contract. Our furniture was not wrapped as stated in the contract, countless items were damaged beyond repair. They promised four workers but only provided two for the second portion of the move and then they invoiced me for an additional two workers who were not even present. They lied about what happened to our items. Only the actual movers agreed this maliciousness was common. Our items clear marked fragile had boxes marked books or heavy stacked on them. They threw our bicycles on top of unwrapped lamp shades. Golf bags were just flung into the rear of the truck. The movers were so embarrassed they couldn't stop apologizing at how bad it was. They offered us a little over 260.00 for over 3500.00 worth of damage. Do not use this company.

Using Muscular Moving Men, LLC was the best decision I have made in a long time. Honest, hardworking, professional young men who showed up on time and worked quickly and efficiently until the last box was unloaded.

Review: I hired Muscular Moving Men to perform a local move on Thursday, April 23rd. I spoke to [redacted] about the estimate for the move and explained the square footage of my home (4,000) and the contents. At the time, I also indicated I would need the movers to pack my kitchen and china cabinet. [redacted] estimated the move would take a total of 8 hours @ $198/hr plus a one time trip charge of $198 - total estimate of $1782.

Prior to 4/23, I was able to pack my kitchen dishes and china cabinet myself. I also made 10 trips to my new home with items filling my Toyota Sequoia. I did this in an effort to reduce the 8 hours and lower my bill.

The movers arrived 20 minutes late from their scheduled start time of 8am. I signed the paperwork which authorized them to start working and also authorized my initial credit card charge for the deposit of $792. They arrived in 2 LARGE 26 foot moving trucks - of which - I did not think I would fill. That said, when they arrived, I indicated that I was trying to cut on time and expected them to be as efficient as possible. The 4 movers confirmed they did not think it would take more than 8 hours and that they would do what they could to save time.

I conducted a walk thru of the house to indicate all of the items I wanted moved. Throughout the morning, my confidence in their ability to complete on time and in their quality and professionalism went down. I was starting to get asked questions like "if you can lift this yourself, you should move it on your own because we are going to run out of room". I also began to notice that items I had asked to be moved, were not moved - such as my garage items. One mover argued with me stating I did not ask for them to move the items in the garage. I asked the other 3 movers and they all agreed they heard me ask to move the garage items. Towards the end of the packing, the movers indicated they could not fit all of my items in the last truck. I noted that one truck was packed effectively and the other was not packed well at all - which lots of open space and room to add more had it been packed efficiently. I also noted one of the movers was being agitated and rude and began to be disrespectful to my belongings. I continued to see items that were stated to move but would now not fit in the truck - e.g. - 2 large potted plants in the front entry (ultimately one of these went on the lap of a driver).

I called to complain of what was happening and seek assistance from a manager. [redacted] arrived at the scene. He also agreed the one truck was NOT packed well and could fit more. He also noted the attitude of the one employee was not good - the other 3 employees agreed.

[redacted] offered me 3 options - all 4 crew members were standing there and my aunt and uncle as witness to this conversation:

1) Take the one employee off the crew for the rest of the day and reduce my hourly rate, but then it may take longer to complete the unload.

2) Repack the truck that was not packed well (or come back for another load), but this would extend the time.

3) Receive a 10% discount on my move.

I chose Option #3 - receive a 10% discount on the move. [redacted] left the scene at time and the 4 movers headed to the new house (2 miles away) to perform the unload.

After the unload at the new house, the total time was now at 10.5 hours (exceeding the original 8 hour estimate, despite the fact that I thought I would save/cut time by doing the dishes and moving loads myself). The head crew member ran the final bill for me to authorize/sign and for my credit card to be charging the remaining balance. He stated the total remaining was $1495 due. I reminded him that I was to receive a 10% discount on the total bill. He recalled that conversation but said it would need to be authorized by the "office". He phoned the office and the person there named [redacted] indicated he could not authorize the 10% discount. I stated that [redacted] committed to this. [redacted] said he would call back. He called back and said that [redacted] was a 5th crew/helper and I had him free of charge and that was my compensation. I told him that was completely untrue - [redacted] arrived in a polo collared shirt and came to survey and address my complaint and left - he was not a crew member/helper. [redacted] was extremely rude and disrespectful and unprofessional to me on the phone. He told me he would simply "have the guys leave". He also told me that he could charge my card now and I could call back the next day to try to get the 10% off. I stated this was unacceptable, as I did not want to be in the position to have to try to receive a refund/credit but rather resolve the matter prior to my credit card being charged.

I expected a phone call the next day and did not receive it. On Monday, 4/27, I checked my credit card statement and was shocked to see that they had charged the full $1495 on my credit card that I did NOT authorize. I did not sign anything stating they could make this charge. I called the company and the person on the phone indicated [redacted] nor [redacted] was available. They indicated [redacted] was on another call and would get back to me that day. I stated it was urgent and I wanted a phone call back on Monday. I did not receive a call. I called back again on Tuesday 4/28 and [redacted] answered the phone. I asked to speak to [redacted] and he indicated he was out of the office all day and would call me back the next day. I told him who I was (and he remembered) and that my card was charged without authorization. He was well aware of this and agreed he did it without my consent. I told him that he knows that is illegal, right? He said, "well if I didn't charge it then you weren't going to pay". I told him #1 that was not a reason to charge a credit card without authorization and #2 that was not the case as I had stated I wanted the 10% off before the charge was made. He told me [redacted] spoke to [redacted] and was aware and was to call me back today but didn't get to. I told him at this point I was not confident I would receive a call back and would be going another avenue to get rectify the situation. [redacted] was extremely unprofessional and rude a 2nd time on the phone with me - very very poor customer service.Desired Settlement: The original estimate was 8 hours (8 * 198) + 198 trip charge = $1782

The actual time was 10.5 hours (10 * 198) + 198 trip charge = $2277. I was to receive 10% off of this amount - a reduction of $227.

I authorized a charge of $792 deposit. My card has an unauthorized charge of $1485. Given all circumstances, my desired outcome is to receive a refund of the difference between the total charge and the original estimate - a refund of $495.

Response:

To Whom it May Concern,This message is in response to the complaint issued by [redacted] in regards to the moving service we provided. During the initial walk through with our customer it became apparent she was surprised that we showed up with 2 large moving trucks although our order for service clearly indicates this to be the case. The large quantity of items being moved necessitated these trucks and tehe customer was made aware of this in advance. We were also advised upon walk through the customers expectation for time to complete the move had changed and she requested our team complete this move in less time than the 8 hours we had estimated, That being said our team loaded the trucks in such a way that we were trying to load for no more than 2-3 hours of time. it is best practice when not loading a truck full to "floor load" the truck to ensure that the shippers items are transported safely when doing a local in town move. It became apparent as we began doing a walk through after loading said items that we may need to clear additional space to get the additional required items. A representative from our office arrived out unsolicited to perform a spot check on the crew and during the course of the interaction with the shipper he offered a discount. We provided his service on the move at no additional charge which would typically constitute a rate increase of $30/hr. Given the circumstances we have honored the promised discount and provided a $207.90 discount off the moving labor as indicated. This is a valid charge for the completed moving service and would be happy to provide further documentation proving this should it be necessary. We appreciate the opportunity to relay this information and thanks for your business [redacted].[redacted] HodgeCo-OwnerMuscular Moving Men

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.1) Please remove my name from the comments.2) I did receive a call back from [redacted] and received the 10% credit as is mentioned and will not seek further compensation.3) The following comments are not accurate:- My surprise at the size of the trucks was not a complaint or dissatisfaction- it was merely a reaction to the size of the trucks. This has nothing to do with the complaint.- The person who arrived unsolicited did not perform work and was not an additional resource on the job as noted above.

Review: I hired Muscular Moving Company when I moved from El Paso, Texas to Buckeye, Arizona. I checked their website to see if they were bonded, licensed & member of the Revdex.com. I checked testimonials & hired them because they were local to Phoenix. I met with them at the warehouse with my girlfriend [redacted] & finalized the paperwork & confirmed the date of move out. The day before the expected move out date, I hadn't heard anything from the moving company, so I called them around 3:30 pm. It turns out that the van broke down in Houston & they wouldn't be arriving until 6:00 pm on Friday evening. I had already closed on my hose & needed to be out on the 28th of August. If I hadn't contacted them that afternoon, I would not have heard from them. I had two moving companies at my hose on the same day moving out & moving in. The extra help that they hired in El Paso were going to lay my refrigerator & freezer down flat & pack boxes on top of it. They stuffed delicate items in boxes without packing them. They ran out of packing supplies & refused to purchase anymore. They were using my old sheets & towels & my packing supplies to pack up my dishes. Many of my dishes were broken. Many of my things are antique & this company totally disrespected my things. Many items were either badly scratched, broken or lost. These items are irreplaceable to me. This is why I chose this company because they came so highly recommended to me.. I spent over $8,000 & they didn't pack all of my things. They claim they ran out of space on the van. My girlfriend, [redacted] used to work for a moving company & she told me that a horrible job was done packing & that there was plenty of room left on the truck. I had 16,000 pounds & when they drove off I was at 15,600 pounds. I had to rent a U-Haul to move the rest of my stuff. All of my things were sent to them in a moving list prior to the move. They acted so surprised by all of my things, but had they checked the list they would have known what I had. Many of my things were left behind because they supposedly ran out of room. I went from a

3, 000 sq. ft. house to a 1,500 sq. ft. hose that was owned by my late husband. I had no idea the things I was going to find when we were packing up!

The guys were very unprofessional & making stupid comments about all of my stuff. This is what they do for a living! This was a very difficult move for me & I didn't need it to be made worse by these workers! When they unpacked I had Christmas boxes in the kitchen & kitchen boxes in the garage. There was no rhyme or reason to the way they unpacked. What is the purpose of labeling boxes if you aren't going to look at the label when you are unpacking?Desired Settlement: I would like to get some of my money back from this company. Perhaps have them pay for the moving expense for the U-Haul, gasoline & all of the supplies I had to buy. I am still waiting almost a month for them to reimburse me for all of the items that got broken, scratched, etc. I would like some sort of compensation for all they put me through. There are numerous items that were damaged in the move. I could not put a price tag on them because they were antique. I am waiting for them to tell me what is owed from the insurance company, but it has been almost a month. Computer monitor was broken oriental screen, hammock are missing. Many items damaged, scratched or broken.

Review: I utilized this company for their moving services. The company packed my home and moved all of my belongings to their storage company. The company then moved my items to my new home just a few days later. It was discovered that one of the boxes that was moved from one home to another was lost or stolen. Muscular Moving Men hasn't resolved the matter. I purchased the premium insurance through their company at their recommendation to protect my belongings. This company or its apparent insurance company has failed to make me an offer that covers the full value of my property despite the fact that the insurance 'description' indicated no limitations on value.Desired Settlement: I would like to receive a full refund for the items that are missing. (Note: even one of the moving men indicated that he realized a box was missing). In addition, I would like to be compensated for my time. I have provided the company with proof of purchases and documentation as to the value of the items including replacement value.

Response:

I have asked our legal counsel to review the Muscular Moving Men, LLC agreement. It is clear that ISN elected to purchase at an additional cost the Full Value Protection Plan which affords [redacted] “Full Value” in the amount of $10,000 with a $500 deductible. This choice was made after a discussion whereby we elected to pay for additional coverage with an understanding of the value of the property we were asking to be moved. Therefore, the $0.60 per pound per article provision does not apply to this loss. Additionally, one of the movers actually commented to me that he noted that a box was missing when unpacking the closet area. Therefore, based on the value of the boxed items coupled with our election of the full value protection, we are due the full amount of the value of the items less our deductible of $500 or $4500.00. We are so confident in our valuation of the property, as well as the clear loss that occurred while “the carrier in possession” who is responsible for physical loss of any articles, that we shall pursue all legal avenues if this is not settled to our satisfaction.

Protection Coverage provides for the lesser of the repair or repair

estimate, the carrier’s replacement cost/value, or the amount claimed, at our

option, for documented, identified, and confirmed transit damage or loss. The

burden of proof of carrier liability, including proof of tender, damage or

loss, and support of age and values claimed is the responsibility of the shipper. Had the shipper properly notified the carrier of the high value inventory of one specific carton for the move, a high value inventory would need to have been completed to document the goods in that one particular carton. The shipper elected coverage in the amount of $10,000 and has attributed more than half of that value in one carton. This

coverage does not extend to betterment, or to sentimental or other intangible

values. To date carrier has yet to locate claimed carton. It is the assertion

of the carrier 40 items or less were placed into the carton while it was in

possession of carrier. Carrier has granted an additional good faith allowance

of $900.00 to attempt to resolve your claim amicably. Given the shippers election of $10,000 valuation of a 8,000lb shipment they have valuated their items at $1.25 per pound.Item Weight SettlementMedium Carton 21 LBS X $1.25 $26.25Carrier Good Faith

Allowance $900.00settlement total is $926.25 applying a deductible of $500.00 which

constitutes full and final settlement of your claim at $[redacted]. A $926.25 valuation good faith offer is more than fair given the lack of notification by the shipper of the extreme high value of the contents. We respectfully stand behind this decision and have promptly issued payment as described above. Respectfully, [redacted]Muscular Moving Men

To Whom it May Concern,

At the time a customer calls our company to make a reservation for a move we collect addresses, contact information, etc and we also collect a deposit for the minimum time we come out for which is 3 hours. Our customer [redacted] made a reservation to have her move completed today (Tuesday 10-29-13) which we called to confirm with her yesterday (Monday 10-28-13). We left [redacted] a message confirming addresses and details for the move and received a call back from her later in the day advising that she no longer wishes to have our service and would like to cancel. To protect ourselves, we have in place a 48hr cancellation policy wherein if a customer were to cancel last minute, as was done so by [redacted], we keep their deposit as we have turned away dozens of customers who have called and attempted to reserve the same spot she was occupying. This is the very reason a deposit is taken at the time the reservation is made because in the event that someone cancels last minute we have lost all opportunity to complete a move in that spot for any other customers. [redacted] was very upset about this however it is our company policy advised over the phone when the reservation is made and through the confirmation email.

Our staff spoke on the phone with [redacted] several times yesterday advising that we are happy to either give her half credit back on her deposit ($180.00) or keep her full deposit ($360.00) on file for 6 months to be used by her at a later date. [redacted] advised that she intended to slander our company online to as many sites as possible although all we have done is attempt to provide her service and abide by our company policy. Although it is not something we customarily do (we are without a customer to complete a move for this afternoon and will not be able to book anyone else in that spot last minute) we are happy to go with either of those options for [redacted]. Please advise which resolution you prefer and we will proceed accordingly. [redacted] also still does have the option of having our team provide her service today. Thank you for the opportunity to respond to this matter and we will await a response.

Thanks,

Muscular Moving Men

They did a great job. They were punctual and extremely efficient. The moving guys were friendly, helpful and there was no damage to anything that was formed.

Excellent service. Polite, professional and handled everything with great care. Pleasant experience.

Second time using them.

THE BEST!!!
I would recommend MMM to everyone. Great attitudes, conscientious. We even had a lot of laughs with these great guys. I have a lot of art and lifetime collectibles, and these guys were great. Our new home is two hours from the old one, so this wasn't an easy trip for any of us. This is the fourth or fifth move they have done for my family members, and I really appreciate them. I think their healthy, fun, and hardworking attitudes made the day MUCH easier than expected. Thanks, MMM!!!!

I just recently moved and was moving from a third floor apt to a home and decided that I needed help since I had a lot of heavy furniture. I had seen a Muscular Movers truck several times and decided that I would give them a try. I called and it was very easy to set up over the phone and then on the day of the move, I got [redacted] & [redacted]. Both guys were body builders which was good to see because again, the furniture was heavy and I was on the third floor. These guys went right to work wrapping everything up in the pads making sure that everything was well protected and had no problems negotiating the stairs and the turns that they had to make. Both were extremely friendly and very efficient. I would not hesitate to recommend these guys to anyone and only have positive things to say about them and the whole moving process.

My wife and I highly recommend Muscular Moving Men (MMM). During our careers we have moved several times across the country using several National movers. This time we moved all our belongings into storage and then into a new home. We used MMM for both moves and their performance well exceeded our experience with all other moving companies. They were prompt, professional and very courteous on both occasions. We already referred them to another family who will be moving soon.

My mother and I hired Muscular Moving men to do an out of state move. here is simple facts without any personal opinions.
1.They used non company movers.
2.Broke multiple items.
3.used non company vehicles
4.refused to used arbitration services
5. the owner is also the head of the dispute department
we took them to court and the court ordered them to refund our entire more plus courts costs. when contacted they stated they refused to pay and we are now suing them in civil court to garnish wages.

Review: I hired the company to move me across country from Chandler, AZ to Middlefield, OH. Prior to the move I provided them with my moving address and payment. When the movers came to load my stuff on the truck, my father explained that he had an 800 foot long driveway and was concerned about a truck getting down it. The movers informed us to contact the office prior to departure. I called the office and informed them of the situation. I was concerned about spending extra money on a shuttle, however, I would do it if I had too. I spoke to the driver on the phone the day before arrival in Ohio. He informed me that he had a 75 ft. semi-truck and hadn’t heard anything about the driveway or my concerns. He said he would arrive in the morning and we would assess the situation. The truck would not fit down the driveway and a shuttle was impossible because the road in which the house was off is considered a main road. So, I had to find a storage unit that was open on Sundays and could handle a 75 ft. semi-truck. We located a unit and when getting ready to unload the only person was a man named [redacted], who was fantastic. No other men showed up and there was no dolly or ramp. Therefore, [redacted] was having to do the entire job on his own. My father, a 56 year old man with a torn meniscus was helping [redacted] never offered to help, however, my father couldn’t stand and let him do it alone. In addition, I had my 2 year old daughter with me and she was restless. How would one man be able to move entire couches and a flat screen television etc. by himself if he would have been at a home? Now, I don’t have access to all my belongings and I am paying $200 a month for storage that I would not have had to pay because my father’s house has a full empty basement for free storage.Desired Settlement: I would like to be credited at least $500 for the storage unit expense that could have been avoided with prior planning and looking up the address on [redacted] earth and the inconvenience of me having to hire another moving company to move my stuff from storage to the house, which will cost me at least $400.

Response:

To Whom It May Concern,This response is in reference to the submission by [redacted]. Let me start by apologizing for the inconvenience of the way the situation played out. After researching the circumstances of the move and speaking with the sales manager that worked with Ms. [redacted] we discovered a few things. Ms. [redacted] was made aware in advance that in the event that a shuttle was needed there would be additional fees. There are certain areas that a tractor/trailer cannot fit and this was one of those situations. Our driver advised that we would arrive at the unload to visually inspect and verify this was the case and unfortunately it was. We advised Ms. [redacted] at that point we would have to off load the items from the tractor/trailer onto a smaller truck and she declined this service. Instead, we all came to the decision to take the items to a nearby storage that could accommodate the large vehicle. When we arrived, the labor assistance our company arranged for our driver was a no show and left our driver high and dry. We worked tirelessly to find replacement labor and would have had workers arrive a few hours later. Rather than wait for the delayed labor help the decision was made by our driver and the customer to unload the items sooner. I again apologize for the inconvenience of the way this played out and certainly it was our fault that our labor assistance did not show up initially at the unload. There is no refunding that we are able to provide as a result of this. The best course of action had Ms. [redacted] informed us she was expecting compensation would have been for all parties to wait for the delayed labor assistance to save the strain it placed on her father. We cannot be held responsible for the requirement of a shuttle as it was discussed that this may be a possibility at the destination. Thank you for taking the time to read this response.Respectfully,[redacted]Muscular Moving Men

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

As mentioned in my complaint I was aware of the additional charge for shuttle fees and didn’t want to pay them but would if I needed too. My main issues are the following: I provided my address and location prior to my belongings leaving Arizona and called in and explained my concerns about the driveway. If the moving company would have done their due diligence and researched we could’ve seen that a shuttle was needed and arranged it in advance. Furthermore, they would have seen that a shuttle was not possible due the location of the home as I was informed by the drivers. The statement, “We advised Ms. [redacted] at that point we would have to off load the items from the tractor/trailer onto a smaller truck and she declined this service”. is simply not true. In fact, I was informed that I was the last load on the truck and they had to stick to a schedule. The nearest place to shuttle from was over 6 miles away, and due to it being a Sunday there was no shuttle available. I was scrambling for solutions and believe me, if I could have paid an extra fee up front to have all of my belongings, I would have because in the long run it is costing me more.I understand that my father did not have to assist at the storage unit and its unfortunate that your labor did not show up, however, if they were able to unload at the house, it would have been extremely difficult to go up and down steps with mattresses, couches, etc. with only one person. Either way, it needed to be resolved. Again, this was not the expectation of service I expected and there was no dolly, ramp, or other equipment on the truck. I choice this company based off and A+ rating with the Revdex.com. This experience was not A+ and I would appreciate if you would take accountability. I am not looking to make money off this situation. I am a hard working single mother who needed help moving because I couldn’t do it myself. I placed the fee for this move on two different credit cards. I wasn’t expecting to have to hire additional movers after the fact or pay storage. I would like to be compensated the extra expenses as a result of the moving companies lack of preparation, planning, and labor that was needed to successfully complete this job. That is the fair, honest, and right thing to do.

Response:

To Whom It May Concern,It is certainly surprising to us that this is an ongoing issue. We certainly do our best when scheduling long distance moves to get the most information about the destination we can. The Relocation Specialist that scheduled the move, [redacted], advised that the client did not provide a delivery address when the move was scheduled until a later date. Regardless, even if a delivery address is obtained in advance, it is always possible that a shuttle may be needed and the client was advised what the additional cost would be if this was the case. The road leading up to the destination was not adequate for driving a tractor trailer and further more we were skeptical if a 26ft box truck would make it through. Once on site at the destination, the client was advised of what the shuttle charge would be and she declined the service instead opting to have our crew unload at a nearby storage. Our driver made it very clear that we did not want to have their assistance when unloading the items and if we simply waited for the replacement crew to show up we would handle it. They felt inclined to do so regardless. There is no compensation we can provide given that we followed protocol and provided the best service possible given the circumstances. The client made it clear she was very happy with the service provided to her by our moving crew and driver and it is not ideal that there was cost associated with the move beyond the original estimate however the scope of work changed.[redacted]Muscular Moving Men

I give this company 5 Stars for overall service. They were on time, easy to communicate, time efficient and gentle on the Furniture etc. I would recommend them highly.

Review: [redacted] of Muscular Moving Men offered to pay 1/2 of the charges for correct and proper reassembly of our wall unit master bed frame from [redacted] Bedding and hook-up of air system of the mattress from [redacted] Bedding. Their half of these charges have not beet sent to us. I hand delivered copies of the bills we had paid ([redacted] Bedding $170 and [redacted] $65) to their offices on [redacted].

I also had a problem with the way my clothing was packed for storage and delivery. Wardrobe boxes were used, but clothing was folded over and over - then stacked piles upon piles until boxes were filled. Majority of my dress and work clothing were extremely wrinkled having been packed in such a non-professional manner. Every moving company I had employed in the past used the wardrobe boxes for hanging the clothing.Desired Settlement: We want a check for their half of the set-up charges as outlined.

Additionally I would want them to be responsible for the cleaning and pressing of my dress suits, Sport Coat, and slacks.

To Whom it May Concern,We have provided prompt and timely responses to all of [redacted] s concerns including the issues he addressed above. A check was mailed out to [redacted] for partial reimbursement on having the electrical components to his bed hooked back up and is check number [redacted]. We advise all of our customers in writing that they sign acknowledgment of that our team has a basic understanding of minor dis assembly and re-assembly and are not experts in air beds, electrical and lighting components, etc. With regard to the wrinkled nature of his clothing after a move- we have continuously advised [redacted] that our damage claim department has never and will never issue any form of reimbursement to press clothing after a move. We have adhered to all parts of our contract and will not be offering any further resolution for [redacted] at this point. We thank you for your consideration in this matter.Respectfully,[redacted] Muscular Moving Men

Response:

In today’s mail we received a check for $100, not $117.50 that was outlined and expected. Check #[redacted] dated 9/29/2013. There is a much greater problem than that. The check is non-negotiable because it is not signed. This seems to me to be a pretty much standard of their business. I have used professional moving company’s to move from Phoenix to Southern California; Southern California to Columbus, Ohio;Columbus back to Phoenix. Then myself from Phoenix to Southern California and my fiancée from Houston, TX to Southern California. Finally, we moved from Southern California back to Phoenix.I am no stranger to how moving company’s operate and pack.Muscular Moving Men originally came and did not have sufficient boxes or packing material. This was also true on day two. They even used our tape to seal up the boxes. On day two they had to take the trucks back to the warehouse and unload and come back for an additional load. In addition while doing the final packing they came across several cupboards in the kitchen that were not packed. These were then packed using their blankets. My prior experiences in moving, the company always hung my clothing in the wardrobe boxes – they never folded over and over and stacked one on top of another. That is my basis of complaint regarding the clothing. Thank you for your assistance. [redacted] E.

Response:

As previously stated via email to [redacted] directly several times and in the initial response here through the Revdex.com a check was issued to pay for partial reimbursement for reconnecting electrical and inflating his airbed by specialists. A check number was provided previously and the check was dated fro 9-29. We have been more than accommodating when attempting to resolve [redacted] s issues. The check was mailed out 9-29 and if [redacted] has not received it at 10752 W. RUNION DR., SUN CITY, AZ 85373 then he should contact his post office to find out if there is an issue with his mail service.Respectfully,[redacted]Muscular Moving Men

Response:

A new check will be issued for the same amount as last time upon receipt of the unsigned check in our possession, (ailing address once again listed below). In light of the struggle to resolve this matter with [redacted] and his continued requests to have clothing pressed and other matters resolved that is not the responsibility of our company, we have to ensure that this check is not attempted to be cashed first then we will issue a correct and proper signed check. Sorry again for the inconvenience and we will await its return to our office. At this point there has been dozens of back and forth emails and we really cannot invest any more administrative hours into this matter. If [redacted] is unwilling to return the signed check and then have a new check issued we will simply close this matter without any further restitution. We do not need any further response back from [redacted] that requires additional time or emails to be sent and we will one again await the unsigned check to be returned to our office.Respectfully,[redacted]Muscular Moving Men

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

They offered in an E-mail from [redacted] $117.50 (1/2 of the charges from [redacted] and [redacted] Bedding) and are now wanting me to accept less than that E-mail offer. My belief is that an ethical organization would honor what had been put into a written E-mail from [redacted]. I really want them to do what is right based upon their offer.I am very discouraged by their lack of cooperation in resolving this matter. My losses have far exceeded this amount. One should not make an offer if you are unwilling to fullfill it. Please do what is right, moral, ethical, and honorable and honor you offer.

Regards, [redacted]

I found MMM to be FANTASTIC to work with. Easy scheduling, on time, estimate was right on and the men were professional and cared about my furnishings. I would use them again and have already referred them to many people. Great company and I do not hesitate to recommend them to anyone who is looking to move.
