New Jersey Singles Reviews (94)

We received
a complaint regarding [redacted] on 4/21/14.
New Jersey Singles is very sorry that she is unhappy with her membership
and we would like to work with her to turn this around.
After
joining New Jersey Singles 10/29/14, [redacted] was...

sent her first referral
11/6/14.  The next referral was sent
1/30/14. [redacted] is stating that she
received two matches in six months.  Per
paragraph 3b of the Membership Agreement that was initialed and signed by [redacted], indicating that she read and agreed with the terms, “Introductions are
generally provided at a rate of approximately one to two per eight-week
period.  However, as introductions are
provided on an AS-AVAILABLE basis, the rate of provided introductions may vary
with each individual member.”  It is
clear that [redacted] was matched on a timely basis.  The reason she has not been matched since we
received her last feedback on 2/11/14, is because she is delinquent with her
finance payment that was due 1/28/14.
There have been five other finance payments made in addition to an $800
payment, but she needs to make the 1/28 payment for her account to be current. We
have called her several times regarding this. The Retail Installment Contract
which was signed by [redacted], outlines all of the terms of the financing
agreement which was to make 12 monthly payments of $292.92 beginning 11/28/13.  We would be very glad to continue working on
referrals for [redacted] when she is current with her payments.
Contrary to
the statement made by Ms. Searles that the first referral did not meet her
criteria, he not only did meet her criteria, but he was a good ‘match’ for
her.  He is successful, bright,
financially secure, they have interests in common and he possesses many more
qualities that she is looking for.  The
age range that she was seeking is 40-55 and this gentleman was 56.  Per paragraph 3c of the Membership Agreement,
“Preferences are used as a guideline for Membership services when seeking
potential introductions.  As
introductions are based on an AS-AVAILABLE basis, introductions will be made
that are as nearly compatible to a members preferences at any given time.” Per
the Addendum, read and signed by [redacted], paragraph 5 reads, “My signature below
verifies that I understand that my preferences are “preferences” and not “requirements.”  This referral was one year older than was
requested and fits within the guidelines of the agreements.
The
accusation that the referral that [redacted] met with “was not in fact a
member of New Jersey Singles” is outrageous.
We have been in business for many years and have introduced countless
couples that are very happy.  New Jersey
Singles is extremely professional and ethical and we find this statement to be
very offensive. He is absolutely a Member of New Jersey Singles!
Per **.
[redacted]s feedback on the second referral, it is our understanding that after
exchanging pictures he no longer wanted to meet her.  As a courtesy, we would be glad to replace
this match, which would mean that there are four (4) referrals remaining.
[redacted]
mentioned that she placed a call to the Member Services Department and did not
receive a return call.  We are not saying
this did not happen but we do not have this in our records and we do return
calls. Good customer service is extremely important to us.  In the future she could feel free to ask for
the Manager, [redacted] if she is not getting a response from her matchmaker or if
she simply would like to talk to her.
Finally, the
membership agreement states in paragraph 4a, “EXCEPT WHAT IS OTHERWISE PROVIDED
HEREIN, THERE IS NO RIGHT TO RESCIND THIS AGREEMENT.  New Jersey Singles does not grant refunds or
accept cancellations of any kind, unless otherwise stated in this agreement.”  The credit card receipts that were signed by
[redacted]s state, “ALL SALES FINAL, NO REFUNDS OR EXCHANGES”.  Additionally there is money due as outlined in
the Retail Installment Contract.
It is
evident after reviewing [redacted] membership that we have been working with
her to help her find her ‘special someone’.
We would like to continue to do so and with feedback and open lines of communication
with the Member Services department, we can accomplish that goal.  New Jersey Singles would like [redacted] to
have a successful membership with us.  We
ask that she contact [redacted], the manager of the Member Services Department when
she is ready to resume her membership.

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: the response is inaccurate. I did not contact [redacted] regarding the error by nj singles in billing that sat . The error was in [redacted] not [redacted] and nj singles asked me to call [redacted] to allow payment however I just gave them my [redacted] card instead. Yes I was coerced to sign and given a special discount to sign before I left that office. That is the definition of high pressure sales. The template of special packages was never given to me with the contract and the contract was not mailed until August 20 to me. They did call me and say they forgot to give me envelope and they would mail it to me. As they state they received my name from the Internet and called me weekly to come in for an interview. Their salesperson [redacted] would not give me any prices on phone when I asked. She said they would get me dating immediately after my interview. She said come with an open mind and a sense of humor. My lawyer has advised there contrast does not protect online information state in NJ Statute and is therefore in violation and I may cancel as no goods or services have been provided. When I talked to [redacted] last week she said she would work with me to try to get this canceled. She is not calling me back and said since I filed with Revdex.com it will make it worse for me.
I would think a business would want to be cooperative and show good faith. I can't imagine that I should trust this same business at this point to find me a date let alone ten eligible dates.. They are accusing me of lying so they can keep my $6,000.
Regards,
[redacted]

Spent about a hour there. The sales lady is very good at her job. She took my card and didn't tell me how much she was charging it. When it was denied, she came back and told me then she proceeded to charge 1000k on it. When I got home I realized there was no money in my bank account hence why it didn't go through. I immediately called, texted and emailed back stating, while going over my finances I couldn't afford it. Plus with the holidays and me trying to get a mortgage it wasn't in my best interest. I was told I could not cancel and there would be no refunds. Only after two hours. The company should think of doing payment plans and not a full 2k down. I'm not buying a car. The sale part of it was very fast, you leave going what the heck did I just do. I do feel ripped off, I was a member years ago and am disappointed that they would treat me like this. Sales girl acted confused and did not understand. You guys get a A+ in sales but need to act like humans as far as money and finance's go.

New Jersey
Singles is responding to the 8/30/2014 response from Ms. [redacted] wherein she is
rejecting our response.  We would like to
work with Ms. [redacted] to help find her someone special.
We have
received two (2) letters from an Attorney representing Ms. [redacted] and [redacted] has
been in touch with her.  After receiving
said letters, and as requested by Ms. [redacted], we did not send her any referrals
and will not do so until such time that this is resolved.  As quoted in our first response, paragraph 10,
of the Membership Agreement reads, “Should there ever become a time when you,
the Member, dispute any portion of your membership and/or request a refund of
your membership fee, New Jersey Singles reserves the right to suspend your membership
until the dispute is properly resolved.”
The Membership Agreement was initialed and signed by Ms. [redacted]
indicating her agreement and understanding of the terms.
[redacted], the
counselor that Ms. [redacted] met with, has spoken to her by phone and offered to
downgrade her Membership as well as offered her a partial refund.  Ordinarily, there are NO REFUNDS at all per
paragraph 4a, which was quoted in our first response.  In good faith and in order to forge a good relationship,
we made this offer.  As you see, New
Jersey Singles has made every effort to work things out with Ms. [redacted].
Please note
that in her recent response, Ms. [redacted] states, “I just gave then my [redacted] card”.  Clearly there was no coercion as she is
trying to suggest.
Additionally,
Ms. [redacted] herself left the envelope containing the Membership Agreement.  [redacted] called her immediately and they agreed
that it would be mailed to her and it was.
Please see
our initial response, as it outlines the series of events, including the fact
that Ms. [redacted] contacted us initially and received a call from New
Jersey Singles as a result.  Our response
still stands, as does the offer to downgrade her Membership.
New Jersey
Singles will continue to be ready, willing and able to service Ms. [redacted] per
the terms of the Membership Agreement.
We will welcome her contacting the Membership Services Department when
she is ready to do so.

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: I am not in total agreement of what has been stated.  Will discuss further with the company.
Regards,[redacted]

New JerseySingles received a complaint on 7/7/14 filed by [redacted]  We are herein responding in the hopes ofresolving this issue and helping [redacted] find her ‘special someone’.[redacted]came into the Bridgewater office on 10/9/12, and met with...

our counselor,[redacted].  After an in-depth screening process[redacted] became a member of New Jersey Singles.  The Membership Agreement that was initialedand signed by [redacted] indicating that she read and agreed with the terms, states that we will provide her with five (5) introductions.  We have provided [redacted] with fiveintroductions.  Per paragraph 3b of theAgreement, “For the purposes of this agreement, an introduction is made whenTwo of Us, (our name when she joined), provides you, the Member, with a nameand a telephone number of another member.” Since [redacted] only met with two gentlemen, as a courtesy we willreplace the other three referrals and thus she will still have three referralsremaining.  The feedback that [redacted]gave  us on one of the referrals, [redacted]stated that he seemed nice, friendly, hard working, and honorable but he wasn’tvery lively.  She went on to say that shewould have seen him again indicating to us that she was not unhappy with thisreferral. Unfortunately he did not call [redacted] again, which is of course, out of our control.  With her feedback,we will fine-tune and continue to search for the ‘right’ guy.  After all, there are still three moregentlemen for [redacted] to meet and we would like her to be happy. To address[redacted]’s complaint that this is not like buying a car, this is a serviceand New Jersey Singles has been servicing her according to the terms of theAgreement. She was well aware of the policies since she read and signed the Agreementon the day she came into our office.  Perparagraph 4a, “EXCEPT WHAT IS OTHERWISE PROVIDED HEREIN, THERE IS NO RIGHT TORESCIND THIS AGREEMENT.  Two of Us doesnot grant refunds or accept cancellations of any kind, unless otherwise statedin this agreement.”  In addition, thecredit card receipt that was signed by [redacted] states, “All Sales Final”and “NO REFUNDS”.[redacted]states that she did not get return phone calls. New Jersey Singles prides ourselves with excellent customerservice.  It is never our intention tonot return calls.  In the future if Ms.[redacted] is unhappy with the service we welcome her to contact [redacted], who is theManager of the Member Services Department and she will be glad to help her.To respondto [redacted]’s  allegation that NewJersey Singles does not have a sufficient pool of people or that we find her “unmatchable”,neither is the case. We would like to work with [redacted] with the commongoal of making her happy that she joined New Jersey Singles.  We have herein offered to replace threereferrals leaving her with a total of three more introductions.  Since we do not have written feedback on thelast referral, [redacted], as is required in the Membership Agreement in paragraph 3f,we have no way to know if [redacted] met him. We are awaiting herfeedback.  If they did meet then ofcourse this would count as referral number three.  When **.[redacted] is ready to resume her membership, we ask that she send the feedback onthe last gentleman and call [redacted] the Manager of Member Services to let herknow.  New Jersey Singles looks forwardto working with [redacted] in the future. We truly feel that this Membership could work for her.

New Jersey Singles is responding to the rejection of ourresponse.  To clarify what happened withthe first response, we did not use the wrong name.  These complaints are identified by an IDnumber.  The response was inadvertentlyentered into the wrong ID number.  Assoon as we realized what happened, we wrote an apology which perhaps, Ms.[redacted] did not receive.  This washuman error and with this response system, unfortunately it could not bereversed.  No one is more sorry that thishappened than New Jersey Singles.  Wecannot undo what happened and again our apologies. Ms. [redacted] stated that New Jersey Singles left out theparticulars that she told us about some of the gentlemen that she metwith.  Since we were not on the dateswith her, we cannot know exactly what happened. We do acknowledge that according to Ms. [redacted], things occurred thatwere upsetting to her.  We expect ourMembers to put their best foot forward and we want their experience to be apositive one.   Feedback is veryimportant so that we can fine- tune with the Members to help find them the‘right match’.  Everyone is screened inperson before being accepted as a Member of New Jersey Singles.   New Jersey Singles is very sorry to hear of the passing ofMs. [redacted]’s Mom.  We only mentionedthat she went on ‘hold’ to explain the series of events that took place duringthe course of the Membership.  There wasno other reason.  Prior to going ‘onhold’, Ms. [redacted] met with her introduction and she said that he was a niceguy.   The Member Services Department of New Jersey Singles, takevery copious notes and according to our documentation, Ms. [redacted] did callMaria a foul name and did tell her to “go to hell”.  In spite of this, the Manager, Susin, calledMs. [redacted] the next day and she was unwilling to hear what she had to say, which was evident by her hanging up on Susin. Again, New Jersey Singles would like the opportunity todiscuss the situation with Ms. [redacted] if she could do so in a calmmanner.  Ms. [redacted] was sent 7 introductionsalthough the Membership Agreement was for her to have 5 introductions.  Ms. [redacted] met 6 of thoseintroductions.  We still encourage her toreach out to Susin, the Manager of the Member Services Departmenr to review herMembership and resolve this matter.

New Jersey Singles did not yet respond to the complaint filed by Ms. [redacted].  The response that she received was not meant for Ms. [redacted] and we are very sorry for the error.  We will however be responding before the due date.  Thank you for understanding.

New Jersey Singles is responding to the complaint filed by[redacted]. In her complaint she states that she was given 3 gentlemens’names since she joined in October 2012 and we will document herein that this isinaccurate.  We feel that with her continuedfeedback and open...

lines of communication with us, this Membership could reallywork for her.  New Jersey Singles hasbeen servicing [redacted] per the terms of the Membership Agreement. [redacted]r went in to our Bridgewater, NJ office on10/5/2012, and after an in-depth meeting with our Counselor, [redacted], she decidedto become a Member of New Jersey Singles. The agreement was that she would receive her first introduction when herMembership was paid in full.  We receivedthe payment, dated 10/24/12 and began the process of matching her.  The first introduction was sent 11/8/12.  [redacted] informed us that although she didspeak to this gentleman, they did not meet. We do not have her written feedback regarding this introduction, as isrequired on the Membership Agreement in paragraph 3f.  Nevertheless, we moved on to the nextreferral and [redacted] told us that he would not meet her because he feltthat she was too young for him.  Per [redacted] the next referral, [redacted], did not call her.  New Jersey Singles is very good aboutreplacing referrals that do not result in a face to face meeting if there is agood reason.  In this case the referralwill be replaced for [redacted] but it will count as a viable introductionfor [redacted], since he did not call her.  According to paragraph 3b of the Membership Agreement, thatwas initialed and signed by [redacted] indicating that she read and agreedwith the terms, “For the purposes of this agreement, an introduction is madewhen New Jersey Singles provides you, the Member, with a name and telephonenumber of another member.  Introductionsare generally provided at a rate of approximately one to two per eight-weekperiod.  However, as introductions areprovided on an AS-AVAILABLE basis, the rate of provided introductions may varywith each individual member.  Anintroduction counts against the Membership once the member receives the nameand contact information of another member, whether orally or in writing.”   Rather than review every single introduction that was sentto [redacted] we will give an overview of what transpired during the course ofher Membership thus far.  New JerseySingles sent two referrals to [redacted] in November, 2012, two were sent inDecember, 2012, and one introduction was sent January, 2013.  Then according to [redacted] statement inthis complaint, and according to our records, she placed her Membership on holdfrom February 2013 until August 2013. When she reactivated her Membership, [redacted] was then sent a referralin October 2013.  After thatintroduction, we re-visited a few referrals that she had been previously sent, but did not meet.  In total, [redacted]rwas sent eight (8) introductions and we are not quite sure how many sheactually met since there is no written feedback on two of the gentlemen.  We would like to review her file with her sothat we know exactly how many introductions are still remaining in herMembership.   Per paragraph 4a of the Membership  Agreement, initialed and signed by [redacted] “EXCEPT WHAT IS OTHERWISE PROVIDED HEREIN, THERE IS NO RIGHT TORESCIND THIS AGREEMENT.  New JerseySingles does not grant refunds or accept cancellations of any kind, unlessotherwise stated in this agreement.”   The referrals sent to [redacted] were sent in a timelyfashion, per the terms of the Membership Agreement.  Keep in mind that [redacted] did place herMembership on ‘hold’ status for a period of approximately six (6) months.  Matches are made after the Member gives ustheir written feedback and there were times when the matching may have takenlonger in between because we were waiting for [redacted] feedback.  Although [redacted] did not meet with all 8referrals, she was sent 8 and we will be glad to discuss replacing those thatwarrant it. It is evident that New Jersey Singles has been workingdiligently to help [redacted] find her ‘special someone’.  Since there is clearly no refund due, wewould truly like to work with her and discuss moving forward.  When she is ready to resume her Membership,we ask that [redacted] call [redacted], the Member Services Manager to review herconcerns.  She will be very happy toassist her.

New JerseySingles received this complaint in which Ms. [redacted] is requesting a refund.  It is evident that we have worked diligentlywith Ms. [redacted] to help her find her ‘special someone’.  We feel that with continued feedback and openlines of communication she can be very...

successful with our Service.Ms. [redacted]went in to our Hackensack, NJ office on 8/19/2014, and after an in-depth meetingwith our Counselor, [redacted], decided to become a Member of New Jersey Singles. The next day, Ms. [redacted] received a welcome call from us and the first referralwas sent to her on 8/25/2014. According to the feedback that Ms. [redacted] gave us,she met this gentleman but was not interested in pursuing things further.  She did say that she liked talking to him onthe telephone, he was talkative, upbeat, nice and casual and had similar viewpoints.  The next referral was[redacted].  Ms. [redacted] refused to meethim because she said he is a mechanic. [redacted] happens to be a great guy, is professional, financiallysecure and had a lot in common with Ms. [redacted]. This gentleman has a College Degree and is an Airline Engineer.  Nevertheless, and to promote good will, wewere happy to add a referral in its place and we sent her another referral named[redacted], that very same day.  We have notheard back from Ms. [redacted] with her feedback on [redacted], which is required per theterms of the Membership Agreement.  Paragraph 3f reads, “You the Member, arerequired to provide written feedback within 10 business days of the receipt ofeach introduction.  Written feedback isrequired and essential to the performance of this agreement.”  [redacted], was a great ‘match’ for Ms. [redacted].  He was 44 years old, educated, bright, divorced, successful, financially secure and they have a lot of the sameinterests.  Since we did not receive anyfeedback from Ms. [redacted], we have no way to know whether or not they met.  On 9/10/2014 we sent Ms. [redacted] anintroduction named [redacted].  Ms. [redacted]gave us feedback that they met but he was not active and there was noattraction.  Chemistry is the one thingwe cannot guarantee, but strive for.  Per paragraph4a of the Membership Agreement that was initialed and signed by Ms. [redacted],indicating that she read and agreed with the terms, “EXCEPT WHAT IS OTHERWISE  PROVIDED HEREIN, THERE IS NO RIGHT TO RESCINDTHIS AGREEMENT.  New Jersey Singles doesnot grant refunds or accept cancellations of any kind, unless otherwise statedin this agreement.” Additionally, the credit card receipt signed by Ms. [redacted]indicates, “NO REFUNDS OR EXCHANGES”.  Beforeleaving the Hackensack office, Ms. [redacted] completed and signed an “InterviewQuality Questionnaire”.  Question number7 was, “Were you given adequate time to read and understand your membershipagreement?” and her answer was “yes”. Ms. [redacted] also responded to question 8 with a “yes” when she was askedif she was sufficiently explained the cancellation and non-refundableclause.   Afterreviewing Ms. [redacted]’s Membership it is evident that we have been working withher to make her happy.  New JerseySingles continues to be ready and eager to fulfill the terms of the MembershipAgreement.  The Agreement states thatthere is to be a total of twelve (12) introductions.  We have graciously agreed to add another forthe gentleman that she chose not to meet. Therefore, there is now 9 or 10 introductions remaining, depending onwhether or not she met [redacted].  New JerseySingles feels that Ms. [redacted] could be truly happy with her Membership and wealready have someone in mind for her.   When she is ready to resume her Membership, wewould need her feedback on [redacted] and ask that Ms. [redacted] call [redacted] in theHackensack office, who will be very happy to assist her.

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: Although, I do agree with New Jersey Singles that this situation is not able to be resolved. I do feel that my life could have possibly been in danger. Therefore, I will proceed with filing a complaint with the State of New Jersey Courts.
Regards,
 [redacted]

New Jersey Singles received a complaint regarding [redacted]
[redacted]’s membership on 5/6/14.  We would
like to resolve this issue and work toward the goal of helping Ms. [redacted] meet
her ‘special someone’.
Ms. [redacted] came into the Bridgewater office on 4/15/14,...

and
met with our counselor, [redacted].  After an
in-depth screening process Ms. [redacted] became a member of New Jersey
Singles.  The first referral, [redacted] was
a successful business owner and a great guy. They had many similar values and
interests. Ms. [redacted] claims that [redacted] was out of her age range and after
checking our records we did notice an error on our part.  In all sincerity this was not a deliberate
act and we wholeheartedly apologize.
While the Membership Agreement
that she read, signed and initialed does allow for a little flexibility
in the matching process, we would never intentionally send her someone five (5)
years above her preferred age range without asking her first.  The agreement states in paragraph 3c,
“Preferences are used as a guideline for Membership services when seeking
potential introductions.  As
Introductions are based on an AS-AVAILABLE basis, introductions will be made
that are as nearly compatible to a member’s preferences at any given
time.”  What is puzzling is that after
Ms. [redacted] spoke to [redacted] on the phone she was aware of his age and CHOSE to
meet him anyway.  She could have called
her matchmaker and we would have simply apologized and replaced the
‘match’.  The fact that she chose to meet
him knowing his true age and is now unhappy about it, is what is puzzling to
us.  In any case, we will be glad to
replace this referral, again with our apologies.  With feedback and open lines of communication
with the matchmaking department we will work with Ms. [redacted] to help her find
her ‘match’.
The next referral was [redacted], also a successful business owner
and a really sweet guy.  Ms. [redacted]
called us 5/5/14 after meeting him and she said he is a ‘farmer’ and makes
‘mulch’.  She was also unhappy that he
wore work boots when they met.  He is a
not a farmer, but owns a nursery.  As for
the work boots, we do tell the members to have a casual first date.  After all, and in all due respect, they were
not going to a black tie event.  At that
time Ms. [redacted] informed us that she does not want to be matched with any more
‘blue’ collar men.  This is her
prerogative and we notated this on her matching profile for future matches.  New Jersey Singles is all about ‘fine-tuning’
as we get to know Ms. [redacted] better.
It is important to note that we absolutely do background
checks, but not on a member’s ex-wife.
Background checks are run on every single member.
Per paragraph 4a of the Membership Agreement, “EXCEPT WHAT
IS OTHERWISE PROVIDED HEREIN, THERE IS NO RIGHT TO RESCIND THIS AGREEMENT.  New Jersey Singles does not grant refunds or
accept cancellations of any kind, unless otherwise stated in this
agreement.”  In addition, the credit card
receipt that was signed by Ms. [redacted] states, “NO REFUND”.   We would like to work with Ms. [redacted] with
the common goal of making her happy that she joined New Jersey Singles.  The matchmaking team is available Monday thru
Friday and is glad to address any of Ms. [redacted]’s concerns.  We are waiting for her written feedback that
is required per paragraph 3f of the Membership Agreement.  When Ms. [redacted] is ready to resume her
Membership we ask that she call [redacted], the Manager of the Member Services Department.  We truly feel that this Membership could work

We are an excellent Service and haveintroduced countless happy couples.  Withfine-tuning and open lines of communication this could happen for Ms. [redacted]as well.  We would like to request thatshe reach out to Susin , the Manager of the Member Services Department todiscuss her concerns hoping to come to a mutual resolution.

Review: On October 29, 2013 I joined New Jersey Singles with the promise that there were "thousands" of potential matches that met my dating criteria and that I would receive, personalized professional dating assistance with matches provided to me via email and the opportunity to speak with someone at New Jersey Singles as needed to discuss the need to change any criteria. I have received two matches in six month. The first referral clearly did not meet my criteria, in addition to being outside the age range, he had no interest in being in a committed relationship having been widowed and divorced. Additionally, his behavior during our meeting led me to believe that he was not in fact a member of New Jersey Singles but was someone they had arranged to go on a date to meet their obligations of providing a referral. During my initial meeting I was assured that there were "thousands" of matches, looking for committed relationships and that I would be individually matched. For the cost of $4,000.00 I assumed that this would be the case. My first referral was by no means an individual match and my second referral, which I received only after I complained that I wasn't receiving any matches, was even worse. These men were in no way comptatible to me and when I phoned New Jersey Singles to discuss the matches they were sending me I was told no one was available and that I would receive a call back. That was over two months ago and I have still not heard back from anyone. New Jersey Singles pressures people into joining immediately with false promises and then refuses to provide refunds once the person has had time to think through the exorbenant cost and failure of the organization to provide the services promised. This is an organization deliberately taking advantage of vulnerable people.Desired Settlement: Full refund of all costs paid. $800.00 initial payment and $292.92 for 5 months (to date, additional charges are assessed at the end of each month). No further billing to my credit card.

Response:

We received

a complaint regarding [redacted] on 4/21/14.

New Jersey Singles is very sorry that she is unhappy with her membership

and we would like to work with her to turn this around.

After

joining New Jersey Singles 10/29/14, [redacted] was sent her first referral

11/6/14. The next referral was sent

1/30/14. [redacted] is stating that she

received two matches in six months. Per

paragraph 3b of the Membership Agreement that was initialed and signed by [redacted]

[redacted], indicating that she read and agreed with the terms, “Introductions are

generally provided at a rate of approximately one to two per eight-week

As a courtesy, we would be glad to replace

this match, which would mean that there are four (4) referrals remaining.

mentioned that she placed a call to the Member Services Department and did not

receive a return call.

Response:

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:This response is outrageous. In it they state that they have been working with me to find that special someone. In fact, they have been doing NOTHING!! NJ Singles cannot refuse to provide refunds when they are in clear violation of the contract. They are being paid to provide compatible matches. I was on the date with the first gentleman. Through conversation, where he discussed that he dealt drugs out of an ice cream truck while in college during the sixties, it was obvious this gentleman was not one year out of the age range but AT LEAST 5. In addition, while he was pleasant, he refused to discuss his job, chossing instead to discuss his use of recreational drugs throughout the entire date, showing no intersest in discussing his interests, what he is looking for in a woman, nothing. I do not believe it is at all outrageous to suggest he is not in fact a true member of NJ Singles, given his unwillingness to discuss any of the topics typically discussed on a first date. The second match, a clear reaction to my complaint to [redacted], was worse.

As stated, during my initial meeting I was assured there were thousands of matches that met my criteria, however, in six months I have received only these two, extremely incompatible matches. NJ Singles cannot just put "NO Refunds" on a document and then refuse to provide a refund once they have failed to provide the services for which they have been paid. I do not wish to work with NJ Singles as I have no trust in them or their ability to make a proper match. In addition, I do not appreciate the insinuation that I, a paying customer. did not in fact make a call to the offices. I did call the offices, the fact that they lack customer service and maintain poor records should not be my problem. I have given this organization six months to make this right and they have done nothing, no contact, no return calls, no interest in providing a better match after the first two failed. NJ Singles can tell us how they have been in the business for years however it is obvious that the business model is failing yet they continue to take money from lonely, unsuspecting people.

Frankly the tone of their email and their complete lack of humility after their obvious failure to meet their obligations is a clear indication that this organization cares nothing for the people they are supposed to be assisting and care only about collecting their fees.

Regards,

Review: NJ Singles does not provide any matchmaking, which they promise and charge clients several thousands of dollars. The company provided 2 out of 5 contracted single men, who did not match any criteria, I asked for and I was promised to get. Despite I lived up to the contract and provided my feedback, and made phone call after each feedback, and was assured that I was" back in dating pool", the company did not make a contact from November 2013 to January 2014. I contacted the office via mail and ask for refund. I received a very impersonal email back, referring to my contract, and no refund policy. I sent another letter demanding my refund. This time I received and email with a potential partner #3, again a man with no qualities I asked for and was promised. NJ singles is a dishonest and unethical company. The office does not provide a service, gets offensive when brought back to the terms of the contract, and charges large sums of money. Since they are in love business, they cause emotional distress. I would caution anybody to get involved with their business.Desired Settlement: I asked the company for refund 3 times despite their no refund policy, since they cannot live up to the contract and they don't have capacity to deliver the service.

Business

Response:

We are

herein responding to a complaint that we received from our member [redacted]

[redacted] because she is not happy with the service. New Jersey Singles takes every complaint very

seriously, and we would like to rectify this situation.

joined our service 10/4/13. She has been sent three referrals and although she

feels that there was no matchmaking involved, that is just not the case. The first referral sent 10/14/13, for

instance is a great guy, professional, financially secure, very fit, sweet,

soft spoken, caring and a gentleman. He

has many more great qualities as well.

This referral fit [redacted]’s criteria regarding age, height, race,

religion, marital status and more. They

both have two children and coincidently both have two sons. According to their matching profiles that

were completed when they came into our office to join they both like country

music, movies, photography, dining out and they both have a passion for

dancing. When we are selecting a match for someone we are not looking for a

‘clone’. As I have mentioned there are

so many variables that are considered. After they met, [redacted] told us

that she thought he was very nice. She

said she wants a man “preferably from Trinidad or another island”. According to paragraph 5 of the Addendum

which was signed by [redacted], “My signature below verifies that I

understand that my preferences are “preferences” and not “requirements.” If at any time New Jersey Singles is unable

to select an introduction who fulfills all of my preferences, New Jersey

Singles will select an introduction who is compatible with my preferences but

who may not meet all of the preferences I indicated in my profile.” By [redacted] signing this, it indicates

that she read, understood and agreed to the terms. The same sentiment is outlined in the

Membership Agreement in paragraph 3c, which was also initialed and signed by

[redacted].

The second

referral was sent to [redacted] 11/6/13 and although they spoke on the phone,

she decided not to meet him. Had they met there may have been a connection. In her complaint, [redacted] mentions that

we did not make contact with her from November 2013 to January 2014. We received her feedback regarding the second

referral 11/18/13 and began the process of searching for her next ‘match’. Per paragraph 3b of the Membership Agreement,

“Introductions are generally provided at a rate of approximately one to two per

eight-week period. However, as

introductions are provided on an AS-AVAILABLE basis, the rate of provided

introductions may vary with each individual member.” With this said, it is evident that referrals

were provided in a timely fashion. The

third referral, another great guy, was sent to [redacted] 1/30/14. We are awaiting her feedback on this

referral. We do not know if they met or

even spoke.

The

Membership Agreement which was read, initialed and signed by [redacted]

indicates a firm no refund policy.

According to paragraph 4a., “EXCEPT WHAT IS OTHERWISE PROVIDED HEREIN,

THERE IS NO RIGHT TO RESCIND THIS AGREEMENT.

New Jersey Singles does not grant refunds or accept cancellations of any

kind, unless otherwise stated in this agreement.” Additionally, the credit card receipt, signed

by [redacted], indicates, “ALL SALES FINAL NO REFUND OR EXCHANGES”.

In

conclusion, [redacted] is getting precisely what was promised. With fine tuning and open lines of

communication with the member services department we can continue to help her

find her ‘special someone’. This is our

goal for her. We would like to turn this

around and work together to make this work.

I would like to suggest that when she is ready to resume her membership,

that [redacted] call the manager of the Member Services Department, [redacted], to

review her file. New Jersey Singles will

be looking forward to working with her and await her call.

Business

Response:

We have

reviewed [redacted] response carefully and have concluded that our stand

remains unchanged. As stated in our

previous response, it has been determined that not only are no refunds given

per our signed written agreement, but neither is one warranted.

I outlined

in our previous response that preferences are preferences and not

“requirements” per paragraph 5 of the Addendum signed by [redacted]. I quoted

the Membership Agreement that was both initialed and signed by [redacted]

indicating her agreement with the terms.

All three (3) gentlemen fit her criteria in ways that I outlined in the

last response. Although they were not from

Trinidad, they were Black men of the age range that [redacted] requested,

46-60. As she does, two of the three men love to dance and although the third

gentleman did not include it among his interests listed, he did love music and

may enjoy dancing as well. These men

were great matches for [redacted] in every other way. In addition to the Addendum, paragraph 3c of

the Membership Agreement states, “Preferences are used as a guideline for

Membership services when seeking potential introductions. As introductions are based on an AS-AVAILABLE

basis, introductions will be made that are as nearly compatible to a members

preferences at any given time. New

Jersey Singles, its agents and assigns do not represent the characteristics,

availability, quantity or demographic make-up of its membership base at any

time. You, the Member, acknowledge that

the membership base changes on a daily basis due to changes in membership

status, including, but not limited to new enrollments, expired memberships,

members becoming involved in relationships, members traveling and members

temporarily suspending their memberships.”

[redacted] read, initialed and signed this Membership Agreement

indicating that she understood and agreed to the terms.

Like [redacted]

[redacted] these men are not necessarily looking for marriage. When you get into a relationship, the couple

usually determines together where they want it to go.

We would

like to continue to work together with [redacted] to help her find what she

is looking for. New Jersey Singles has

provided service by the terms of the Membership Agreement. There is no refund due, but we can offer to

fulfill the remainder of the agreement. We will be happy to do so when she is

ready if she would call the Member Services Department.

Business

Response:

New Jersey Singles takes every member complaint very

seriously, and we are concerned that [redacted] is unhappy. We have been working closely with him to

change that.

Mr. [redacted] states that he was called by New Jersey

Singles and I would like to clarify that.

We actually responded to a questionnaire that he filled out requesting

that we contact him. He made an

appointment and came into our [redacted] NJ office and met with our

counselor, [redacted]. After an in- depth screening process [redacted] became a

member of New Jersey Singles having read, signed and initialed the Membership

Agreement in several places. After

joining on 9/15/13, he was welcomed by his matchmaker 9/19/13 and was emailed

his first referral that same day. [redacted] mentions calling [redacted] with no

return calls and our records show that his calls were returned by someone in

the Member Services Department. Since

[redacted] is very often in appointments back to back, it is difficult for her to

return calls. The Member Services Department is there to help him with whatever

he needs regarding his membership.

The Member Services Department spoke to [redacted] on

many occasions to address his concerns. One such concern was that he felt it took too

long in between matches. To the contrary,

per paragraph 3b of the Membership Agreement, “Introductions are generally

provided at a rate of approximately one to two per eight-week period. However, as introductions are provided on an

AS- AVAILABLE basis, the rate of provided introductions may vary with each

individual member.” The first referral

was sent 9/19/13 and the last was sent 11/29/13. During that time [redacted] was sent six

(6) referrals. Some of these referrals

will be replaced, such as the two women that did not return his calls. We apologize for that and have in our records

that he actually has two more referrals remaining. Clearly he was matched in a timely manner,

per the terms of the written agreement.

[redacted] is claiming that no services were rendered. We have actually provided him with very good

service. Every time [redacted] had a concern, we addressed it with him. As

I said above, he was sent six (6) referrals and met two. He even went out with one referral, Susan,

twice that we know of and gave feedback that he really liked her. When he

requested, we changed his matchmaker in order to make him happy. We want for [redacted], what he wants for

himself and that is to meet that ‘special someone’. We have the same goal. Services have certainly been rendered.

New Jersey Singles has a firm “no refund policy” per

paragraph 4a of the agreement, which states: “EXCEPT WHAT IS OTHERWISE PROVIDED

HEREIN, THERE IS NO RIGHT TO RESCIND THIS AGREEMENT. New Jersey Singles does

not grant refunds or accept cancellations of any kind, unless otherwise stated

in the agreement”. In addition, the

credit card receipt that was signed by [redacted] states, “ALL SALES FINAL,

NO REFUND OR EXCHANGES”.

After reviewing his file it is clear that [redacted]

has been serviced and that we have been working diligently to help him find his

‘special someone’. We remain ready, willing

and able to provide the continued service that [redacted] contracted for. It is evident that no refund of any kind is

due. We will wait to hear from Mr.

Aboosamara when he is ready to resume his membership. With open lines of

communication and feedback he can have a very successful membership.

I am rejecting this response because:

Review: I joined NJ singles in Oct 2012 and was promised 15 viable dates for approximately $5,000. I put my membership on hold fro Feb. 2013 till August 2013. In total, at the present I have been given 3 gentlemens' names and info since that time has gone by. The last time I spoke with the company, in November 2014, they told me they would call me when someone who met my requirements came up -- I haven't gotten any calls since then. THe company does not do what they siad they would do.Desired Settlement: I was just getting divorced when I joined and had high hopes of this dating service. Business

Response:

New Jersey Singles is responding to the complaint filed by[redacted]. In her complaint she states that she was given 3 gentlemens’names since she joined in October 2012 and we will document herein that this isinaccurate. We feel that with her continuedfeedback and open lines of communication with us, this Membership could reallywork for her.

Review: I was contacted and called by this service through the internet dating world and have no idea how they got my phone number. I was called weekly until I finally went in for an interview. Upon interview I was grilled and brought down to feeling very bad about myself and in tears at one point. I was coerced and TOLD that I need to buy their package and that I CAN AFFORD it and she took my credit card and TOLD me I was doing this. I told her I was really stressed and cold not afford this as I had a house fire and its not a good time. She said you are doing this. She failed to give me a copy of the contract when I left the meeting. I called the office several times this week and nobody is calling me back. I received a call from their matchmaker who stated she would have a match for me in maybe two weeks. I said no thanks I had my lawyer send a letter cert. mail the monday after the saturday I signed up. I got another call from the sales person who claims she is also the regional manager yesterday and again she was coercing me that I need to do this. I said NO bottomline I felt stressed and under duress to sign that contract and I want a refund. They have ignored my request and the letter from my lawyer.I see online there are many complaints about them having several similar experiences. AND they do not provide matches in the manner explained in the interview. I feel I was pressured and I believe there is something very wrong with pulling my name from the internet and targeting me and repeatedly calling me etc.Desired Settlement: I want my full fee credited back to my [redacted] card. It was over $6000. I believe $6,291. total. NO SERVICES have been provided and it has been a week since I was forced to sign this contract with them and never provided a copy of the contract at signing.

Response:

New Jersey

Singles received complaint #[redacted] regarding [redacted]. We are very sorry that she is unhappy after

becoming a Member of our Service on 8/16/2014.

It is our desire to provide her with the highest level of service in her

quest to find her ‘special someone’.

Ms. [redacted]

stated in her complaint that she has, “no idea how they got my phone number.” And

then states “I believe there is something very wrong with pulling my name from

the internet”. New Jersey Singles is an

excellent service and is extremely reputable.

We would NEVER call someone without them initially reaching out to

us. We do not do what is called “cold

calling”, EVER. Ms. [redacted] filled

out a questionnaire on line and she included her name, written as [redacted]

[redacted], age, phone number, occupation, income range, marital status, the town

she lives in as well as the zip code and her email address. It was this inquiry

generated by Ms. [redacted] that prompted one of our representatives to call her. She could have told them on the phone that

she was not interested, yet she not only spoke to them but set an appointment

to come in to our office. She could have

canceled the appointment, yet she did not do so.

Ms. [redacted]

went into our [redacted], NJ office on 8/16/2014 and after an in-depth meeting

with [redacted], she decided to become a Member of New Jersey Singles. At that time she supplied her credit card to

pay for the service and when there was an issue with her card, she herself contacted

the credit card company, while still in the office, to rectify the

situation. This took quite some time,

indicating a determination to make it work so that she could join the Service. If Ms. [redacted] was not interested, she could

have said so and left at any time. No

one was holding her captive. Yet, even after encountering an issue with

the credit card, she took the time to straighten things out so that she could

become a Member.

Before

leaving the [redacted] office, Ms. [redacted] completed and signed an “Interview

Quality Questionnaire”. Question number

7 was, “Were you given adequate time to read and understand your membership

agreement?” and her answer was “yes”.

Clearly she understood question number 8 when she responded “yes” to the

question asking if she was sufficiently explained the cancellation and

non-refundable clause. Ms. [redacted] even

gave three reasons that she became a member of New Jersey Singles. They were, “find a nice man”, “frustrated

with online dating” and “safety of background check”. These were all written in her own words in her

own handwriting. Does this sound like

someone that was coerced?

As Ms.

[redacted] indicated in her complaint, the matchmaker called to ‘welcome’ her and

let her know that she would receive her first ‘match’ within approximately two

(2) weeks. Per paragraph 3b of the

Membership Agreement, “You, the Member, will be provided with 10

introductions under this agreement. The

first introduction is generally provided within 1-4 weeks.” We were certainly working within the

guidelines of this Agreement. As Ms.

[redacted] indicated in the complaint, “I said no thanks, I had my lawyer send a

letter…”. At this point, and at her

request, we held off on moving forward with her ‘matches’ until we resolved the

situation. Per paragraph 10 of the Membership Agreement, “Should there ever

become a time when you, the Member, dispute any portion of your membership

and/or request a refund of your membership fee, New Jersey Singles reserves the

right to suspend your membership until the dispute is properly resolved.”

Per

paragraph 4a of the Membership Agreement which was signed and initialed in

several places by Ms. [redacted], indicating that she read and agreed with the

terms, ‘EXCEPT WHAT IS OTHERWISE PROVIDED HEREIN, THERE IS NO RIGHT TO RESCIND

THIS AGREEMENT. New Jersey Singles does

not grant refunds or accept cancellations of any kind, unless otherwise stated

in this agreement.” The credit card

receipts signed by Ms. [redacted] also indicates that there is “NO REFUND”. Additionally, Ms. [redacted] was told that there

were no refunds or cancellations by [redacted], while she was still in the

office. When she left the office, Ms.

[redacted] forgot to take her copy of the Membership Agreement, which she left on

the desk and [redacted] immediately called her to let her know. Rather than turn around and come back, they

agreed that [redacted] would mail it to her.

New Jersey

Singles would really like to work with Ms. [redacted] to help her succeed in her

search to meet someone special. We all

have the same goal and the Member Services Department is ready to provide the

quality service that Ms. [redacted] contracted for and is refusing. She could be truly happy if she would give

this a chance. When she is ready to move

on with the Membership, we ask that Ms. [redacted] contact, [redacted], the Member

Services Manager.

Response:

Review: [redacted]

Regards,

Business

What a joke this matchmaking service is. I met with [redacted] a few months ago who swore she could find me the perfect guy and said she wouldn't stop sending me referrals until I met my future husband. HAHAHA, I don't see that happening, EVER. I have to give it to her though, she is an excellent BS artist, telling me that they get tons of successful, intelligent, highly educated men and a shortage of beautiful, successful, educated women like me. Right. Well, the first guy I met, they absolutely raved about how gorgeous and wonderful he was. I've met better guys on Tinder. There was nothing to rave about him, he was so run of the mill, I barely lasted an hour on my pointless date. I wrote a long analysis on exactly what was wrong with him on the feedback site, how he was Nothing like what I asked for and didn't hear anything from them for weeks. I asked them what the heck was going on and they said, it can take anywhere from 2-8 weeks for us to send you another match. 8 weeks? [redacted] did not tell me this when I met her. Furthermore, if they took 8 weeks, shouldn't they have found someone of quality by then? Clearly not. The second guy they sent me was even worse than the first guy! What a joke. He texted me asking when we could talk, I said, please feel free to call me whenever you'd like, I usually work from home. A week went by and I didn't hear anything from him, so I called him. (At this point, I'm already aggravated). He was about as interesting as sandpaper. After two, completely pointless phone calls, I wrote him a terrible review and called them to say, I would not be meeting with Captain Boring. They tried to tell me people could be better in person, then over the phone, but I said, absolutely not, we have nothing in common. As predicted a few weeks went by when they told me they had another match. At this point, I was so disgusted when I saw their name on my caller ID, it was almost like an ex boyfriend calling me. They told me the 3rd match, Anthony, was a successful doctor and they were sure we'd get along great. Guess how that went? Yeah, we never even met. Awesome. He texted me for a bit, then went completely m.i.a and ignored my texts. Needless to say, I called [redacted] in a complete tirade. I said, seriously, I'm so done with your joke of a dating service. Where do you even find these people?
I really just want 1/2 of my money back and I don't want anymore pointless dates. I have expressed this to her and she keeps saying, just have patience, we'll find you someone. Please don't. I'm done. I could find better guys with my eyes closed at Tupperware party.
