New Jersey Singles Reviews (94)

Review: On November 15, 2014, I joined New Jersey Singles for the sum of $2500.00, with the intentions & promise of being introduced to men of honest substance. During the past year, I have been introduced to men who are attached to other women, in relationships, to one who wouldn't or couldn't pay for a hot chocolate, another sat at a table picked his nose & had food dribbling out of his mouth and an alcoholic. I could go on due to the fact that I have kept notes on my disappointing experiences.

I have requested a refund. New Jersey Singles seems to think that if you are a woman with two legs then, a man with the same should be suitable. New Jersey Singles have not introduced me to eligible men of substance.

I am requesting any assistance possible with this issue.

Sincerely,

[redacted]Desired Settlement: I am not being unreasonable in requesting a refund. New Jersey Singles have not fulfilled their end of the contract & are quite deceitful. I do realize that the female eligible population is more than the male however the men I was introduced to were bizarre,

Again, thank you.

Response:

Tell us why here..New Jersey Singles in responding to the complaint filed byMs. [redacted]. We have beenservicing Ms. [redacted] per the terms of the Membership Agreement and wouldlike to help her find her ‘special someone’. With her feedback and open lines of communication with us, thisMembership could really work for her. Weare truly sorry that she has not been happy with her Membership and would likethe opportunity to change that. Ms. [redacted] went in to our office on 11/15/2014 and afteran in-depth meeting with our Counselor, Joyce, she decided to become a Memberof New Jersey Singles. Ms. [redacted]received a welcome call from us and soon after was sent her first referral,[redacted]. According to [redacted]’s feedback, heand Ms. [redacted] made plans to meet 3 times and she cancelled each time, giving him the impression that she was too busy to meet. Ms. [redacted], however, gave feedback thatthey did meet but there was no chemistry. New Jersey Singles knows how important chemistry is but sometimes thatcan come later, after getting to know the person. The next introduction was [redacted] and Ms. [redacted] gavefeedback that they met but she didn’t care for him. The third introduction that Ms. [redacted] metwas [redacted]. After they met, Ms. [redacted]said that he was a nice guy but she had personal problems and needed to put herMembership on ‘hold’, meaning that she did not want to receive anyintroductions at that time. After coming ‘off hold’, Ms. [redacted] met the fourthintroduction, [redacted], and gave feedback that he was nice. The next introduction was [redacted] andalthough they did speak, Ms. [redacted] felt that he was very opinionated anddid not want to meet him. She alsostated that she realized that New Jersey Singles is not responsible for theactions of others. Ms. [redacted] isright in that we cannot know what the members might say to each other but doexpect them to be courteous and welcoming. The sixth introduction was [redacted], who according to Ms.[redacted], was just not a good ‘match’. She stated that he talked about himself and did not ask anything abouther. We did not receive written feedbackregarding the seventh introduction, [redacted]. According to [redacted]’s feedback, they did meet. Written feedback is required, per paragraph3f of the Membership Agreement, which was initialed and signed by Ms.[redacted], indicating that she read and agreed with the terms of the Agreement. Per paragraph 4a of the Membership Agreement, initialed byMs. [redacted], “EXCEPT WHAT IS OTHERWISE PROVIDED HEREIN, THERE IS NO RIGHT TORESCIND THIS AGREEMENT. New JerseySingles does not grant refunds or accept cancellations of any kind, unlessotherwise stated in this agreement.” On 9/2/2015 Ms. [redacted] called the Member ServicesDepartment and expressed to one of our matchmakers, that she was not happy withthe last introduction. Ms. [redacted]then called her a foul name and told her to, “Go to Hell”. This is neveracceptable. Our Member ServicesDepartment is always available to her so that they can resolve the issues andwork together to make this work. Susin, the Manager of the Member Services Department called Ms. [redacted] the next dayto discuss her desire to turn things around for her and she did not want todiscuss it. Ultimately, the call endedwhen Ms. [redacted] hung up on Susin, who was trying to help her. New Jersey Singles would like the opportunity to discuss thesituation with Ms. [redacted] if she could do so calmly and respectfully. Please note that the Membership that Ms.[redacted] contracted for was to meet 5 introductions. We actually sent her 7 introductions and shemet with 6 of them, which exceeded the amount contracted for. Clearly, the Membership Agreement has beenfulfilled and there is no refund due. We are an excellent Service and haveintroduced countless happy couples. Withfine-tuning and open lines of communication this could happen for Ms. [redacted]as well. We would like to request thatshe reach out to Susin , the Manager of the Member Services Department todiscuss her concerns hoping to come to a mutual resolution.

I am rejecting this response because:in regard to the answer from this past Thursday when New Jersey Singles used the wrong name, Ms. [redacted], they handled the response as callously as they approach their idea of being a premier dating service. If a woman has two legs & a man the same, then it's a match. As noted, they don't care about privacy. If so another persons' name wouldn't be in my email. This service just doesn't care! In response to today's correspondence, the email conveniently left out the outragious particulars which I had addressed and informed Revdex.com! The various counsellors were even laughing when I reported what had transpired ie., an alcoholic, nose picking, picture taking plus what I had stated. In regard to the gentleman who I spoke to yet never connected & taking a "break", my mother was in the hospital & subsequencially past away. I had informed New Jersey Singles. Again, they do not care.

A final note, yes I was furious yet did not tell Marie to "go to hell", because she was snickering on the other end of the phone.

Response:

New Jersey Singles is responding to the rejection of ourresponse. To clarify what happened withthe first response, we did not use the wrong name. These complaints are identified by an IDnumber. The response was inadvertentlyentered into the wrong ID number. Assoon as we realized what happened, we wrote an apology which perhaps, Ms.[redacted] did not receive. This washuman error and with this response system, unfortunately it could not bereversed. No one is more sorry that thishappened than New Jersey Singles. Wecannot undo what happened and again our apologies. Ms. [redacted] stated that New Jersey Singles left out theparticulars that she told us about some of the gentlemen that she metwith. Since we were not on the dateswith her, we cannot know exactly what happened. We do acknowledge that according to Ms. [redacted], things occurred thatwere upsetting to her. We expect ourMembers to put their best foot forward and we want their experience to be apositive one. Feedback is veryimportant so that we can fine- tune with the Members to help find them the‘right match’. Everyone is screened inperson before being accepted as a Member of New Jersey Singles. New Jersey Singles is very sorry to hear of the passing ofMs. [redacted]’s Mom. We only mentionedthat she went on ‘hold’ to explain the series of events that took place duringthe course of the Membership. There wasno other reason. Prior to going ‘onhold’, Ms. [redacted] met with her introduction and she said that he was a niceguy. The Member Services Department of New Jersey Singles, takevery copious notes and according to our documentation, Ms. [redacted] did callMaria a foul name and did tell her to “go to hell”. In spite of this, the Manager, Susin, calledMs. [redacted] the next day and she was unwilling to hear what she had to say, which was evident by her hanging up on Susin. Again, New Jersey Singles would like the opportunity todiscuss the situation with Ms. [redacted] if she could do so in a calmmanner. Ms. [redacted] was sent 7 introductionsalthough the Membership Agreement was for her to have 5 introductions. Ms. [redacted] met 6 of thoseintroductions. We still encourage her toreach out to Susin, the Manager of the Member Services Departmenr to review herMembership and resolve this matter.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because: New Jersey Singles has displayed their lack of being a professional institution just by using the wrong ID number and name Ms. [redacted]. Now I am aware that another individual is not satisfied with this service. In response to my mother's illness and passing, it is not of their business. I did I fact inform New Jersey Singles of her illness.I am vehemently refuting the language inwhich Maria stated I used. She was snickering probably, she couldn't believe the situation. I called Susin the next day, not the other way around. Susin, the manager, never reached out to me.New Jersey Singles have placed me in danger with the man who wanted to take my picture. I refuse his request & left the establishment. However, do I know what he did as I walked away? I have given New Jerset Singles chances again and again. Yet, I refuse to engage with a company that doesn't have any regard for my safety & peace of mind.

Response:

New Jersey Singles is again responding to Ms. [redacted]’srejection of our response. It is evidentthat we are still trying to work with her to turn her Membership around but weare not able to do so if she is not willing to have a discussion with us. While we can go back and forth like this forever, the truthof the matter is that the Membership that Ms. [redacted] contracted for was tomeet 5 introductions and she was sent 7 and met 6. Therefore, her Membership has contractually beencompleted. We suggest that Ms. [redacted]discuss her Membership with Susin, calmly. After going over what has transpired, it is possible that Susin wouldadd another referral or two to replace some of the introductions, if she feelsit is warranted. New Jersey Singles wouldlike Ms. [redacted] to be a happy member and we are willing to work this out butshe needs to reach out Susin to resolve this dispute. Ms. [redacted] states that she was placed in danger by beingmatched with a man that wanted to take her picture. Although we don’t know his reason for wantingto take her picture, what we do know is that every person is very thoroughlyscreened in person before being accepted for a Membership with New JerseySingles. We have never had a problemwith our Members’ behavior and this gentleman has never before received anynegative feedback. If she felt like shewas in danger, we apologize that she felt that way. New Jersey Singles would like to resolve this dispute withMs. [redacted] and as we stated in our prior responses, she was well aware thatthere were no refunds. Ms. [redacted]initialed and signed the Membership Agreement, indicating that she read andagreed with the terms. Susin, the MemberServices Manager, did attempt to work things out with her, but Ms. [redacted]hung up the phone on her. If Ms. [redacted]thinks about it, what we are offering makes sense, she has more to gain than tolose. We encourage Ms. [redacted] to callSusin to work this out, she will be more than happy to help.

I am rejecting this response because: Although, I do agree with New Jersey Singles that this situation is not able to be resolved. I do feel that my life could have possibly been in danger. Therefore, I will proceed with filing a complaint with the State of New Jersey Courts.

Review: This company represented themselves as a matchmaking service. It is not. I do not think this company knows the meaning of a "matchmaker". I do not believe they have a viable pool of men and they cannot provide the service that I paid for.

I signed up on May 6, 2014, with a VIP status and contract for 15 introductions at $8495.00. I have had 5 introductions and 3 dates. The second introduction never called back after our initial phone call, and the 4th introduction met someone else while we were trying to set up a time to meet.

I believe they feel pressured to set up dates for me then set me up with "just anyone" to satisfy their obligation. This is a scam company that I have also learned was involved in legal disputes under the name "2 of Us". The logo is the same with a different name.

I wanted a personalized true matchmaking service. This is not what I received. This is false advertising and breach of contract. I have given the company ample time and have been very patient in my pursuit of a service that I was presented in an obviously deceptive circumstance.

There have been many, many phone calls since starting with New Jersey Singles, and I am disgusted.Desired Settlement: Pro-rated refund for unused introductions.

Response:

Tell us why here...New JerseySingles received this complaint from [redacted] requesting a partialrefund. It is evident that we haveworked diligently with [redacted] to help her find her ‘special someone’. With continued feedback and open lines ofcommunication, [redacted] can be very successful with our Service.[redacted]went in to our Bridgewater, NJ office on 5/6/2014, and after an in-depthmeeting with our Counselor[redacted] she decided to become a Member of New JerseySingles. On 5/12, [redacted] received awelcome call from us and on 5/13, she approved and was sent her firstintroduction named [redacted] gavefeedback after meeting [redacted] and said that they may be meeting again. She said that he was polite, a business ownerand tall but she felt that he didn’t have as much free time as she did. What is important to note here is that shedid indicate that she would see him again. [redacted] spoke to the next referral, [redacted] but they did notmeet. Although she felt that they hadnothing in common, the feedback was not more specific and it is through this feedbackthat we fine-tune the process. Of coursethis referral will be replaced, thus there would be 14 more referralsremaining. The nextintroduction was [redacted] and [redacted] gave feedback that he, “matched mycriteria, and we have a great timetogether”. She mentioned that he is “smart, tall, handsome, honest, great chemistry”. She went on to say that they weren’t sure if they can make arelationship together, work. All and all, this was a great introduction! It isimportant to note that the Membership that [redacted] chose, includes afeature called Selective Screening. Perparagraph 3a of the Membership Agreement, “A Member with the SelectiveScreening option will be contacted via telephone by Membership Services withpotential introductions. At that timethe member may accept or decline such introduction.” If at any time [redacted] was presented withan introduction that she did not care to meet, she had the option to say ‘no’. She herself approved each and everyintroduction before we went ahead and e-mailed it to her. These were quality guys that fit her criteriaor she would not have approved them to begin with. When [redacted] gave feedback on the next introduction, [redacted], she told us that they hada depressing conversation about his ex-wife and daughter. With all due respect, since we were not privyto their conversation we do not know what prompted the conversation to takethat turn. Nor do we have any controlover what the Members may say to each other. We screen our potential Members very carefully and all we can do in thisinstance is apologize and move on. Hadthey met in person, it is possible that they would have liked each other, however, we will be glad to replace this introduction. [redacted] then stated that, “there are nodecent single men my age.” We have manygreat gentlemen in her age range, and urge [redacted] to keep giving usfeedback and we will work together to introduce her to them. New Jersey Singles has so many successstories and we would like her to be one of them.[redacted]gave feedback on the next referral, [redacted] saying that they spoke but did notmeet. She indicated that their schedulesdid not ‘mesh’ and then he said that he was dating someone. New Jersey Singles would not knowingly send areferral for someone that was unavailable. This is something we could only know if the Member informed us ofsuch. We are sorry this happened andagreed to move on.The mostrecent introduction was approved by [redacted] and was e-mailed 12/5. [redacted] is professional, a Software Engineer, who is very active and likes skiing and playing tennis just as she does. [redacted] gave feedback that they met andthat they won’t be meeting again. Sheindicated that she believes that the person making the matches should meet bothMembers. We would like to invite [redacted] to make an appointment to meetwith [redacted], the Manager of the Member Services Department. She will be more than happy to meet with herin person and the door was always open for her to do so. [redacted] can be reached at [redacted] Monday thruFriday. Perparagraph 3b of the Membership Agreement, “For the purposes of this agreement,an introduction is made when New Jersey Singles provides you, the Member, witha name and a telephone number of anothermember. Introductions are generallyprovided at a rate of approximately one to two per eight-week period. However, as introductions are provided on anAS-AVAILABLE basis, the rate of provided introductions may vary with eachindividual member. An introductioncounts against the Membership once the member receives the name and contactinformation of another member, whether orally or in writing.” Per this Agreement, it is evident that [redacted] was sent introductions in a timely fashion. She joined in May and was sent six (6)introductions and met with three (3) of them. Per the Agreement that was just quoted, we could have counted all six(6) introductions but we were gracious enough to replace three of them sincethey didn’t result in a face to face meeting. Thus, there are still twelve (12) more introductions remaining .Perparagraph 4a of the Membership Agreement that was initialed and signed by [redacted] indicating that she read and agreed with the terms, “EXCEPT WHAT ISOTHERWISE PROVIDED HEREIN, THERE IS NO RIGHT TO RESCIND THIS AGREEMENT. New Jersey Singles does not grant refunds oraccept cancellations of any kind, unless otherwise stated in this agreement.” Additionally, the credit card receipt signedby [redacted] indicates, “NO REFUND”.Afterreviewing [redacted]’s Membership, it is evident that New Jersey Singles hasbeen working with her to make her happy. We continue to be ready and eager to fulfill the terms of the MembershipAgreement and we would like to move on to her next introduction. New Jersey Singles feels that [redacted] canbe truly happy with her Membership and as we said, the Membership ServicesDepartment would welcome the opportunity to meet with her in person. When she is ready to resume her Membership werequest that [redacted] contact [redacted], the Manager of the Member ServicesDepartment and she will be very happy to assist her.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:

NJS is making their replies more postitive than our actual conversations. I had been very blunt on a number of occasions, as I believe they felt pressured to make matches that were not in my best interest because of my phone calls. It would have been much more professional and honest to simply state that they had no matches available. I had asked [redacted] on our initial interview how many many were in the service that could be matches, and she would not disclose a number because that was confiedential, but I don't consider the number of dates I received, or the type of men to be "many".I was told that my income level and profession would be taken into account when making a match ([redacted]) and this was obviously not the case with several of the men.1) [redacted] was working nights at [redacted] because the construction business had taken a turn for the worse. This is not the type of man I expect to meet and does not fall into the "equal to me" category. Neither [redacted] nor I ever called the other.2) [redacted] tried to fit me in as a business lunch, but never called back after our initial conversation to even meet. 3) [redacted] was great but revealed that he doesn't do relationships well, and actually told me that he had no dates remaining but NJS continued to contact him to go on dates and he did.4) [redacted] met someone else while we were communicating to try to meet.5) [redacted] was a very sad person who was never my type despite liking skiing and tennis. He also agreed that I was not his type. Not sure why this match was made, he could not figure it out either. He wasn't even as tall as stated. I am still expecting a refund of the amount requested in my original statement. This is a scam and I still hold that the service does not have "many" if any viable matches.

Regards,

Review: This is a match making service. I was enforced to endure high pressure sales tactics that stated false statistics. I gave criteria of age range. First match almost 20 years my senior. Out of my age range!! Next match was a farmer who made mulch on a daily basis with drug addicted ex wife only allowed court monitored visits twice a month for two hours! Background checks?? I think NOT!! I am a high end fashion designer spend most days in NYC. Not a though out match.....I could throw a dart out my window and hit closer to the bulls eye. My documented match criteria was inaccurate...no attention to me as a client or detail??Desired Settlement: After reading the hundreds of complaints against the many names of this service, ( nj singles, [redacted] and my [redacted] out of Bridgewater NJ mentioned in many of the complaints that have been awarded to plaintiffs in court....Yet they have still not reimbursed clients they have mislead and taken advantage of :((( terrible business practices and heartless.

Response:

New Jersey Singles received a complaint regarding [redacted]

[redacted]’s membership on 5/6/14. We would

like to resolve this issue and work toward the goal of helping Ms. [redacted] meet

her ‘special someone’.

Ms. [redacted] came into the Bridgewater office on 4/15/14, and

met with our counselor, [redacted]. After an

in-depth screening process Ms. [redacted] became a member of New Jersey

Singles. The first referral, [redacted] was

a successful business owner and a great guy. They had many similar values and

interests. Ms. [redacted] claims that [redacted] was out of her age range and after

checking our records we did notice an error on our part. In all sincerity this was not a deliberate

act and we wholeheartedly apologize.

While the Membership Agreement

that she read, signed and initialed does allow for a little flexibility

in the matching process, we would never intentionally send her someone five (5)

years above her preferred age range without asking her first. The agreement states in paragraph 3c,

“Preferences are used as a guideline for Membership services when seeking

potential introductions. As

Introductions are based on an AS-AVAILABLE basis, introductions will be made

that are as nearly compatible to a member’s preferences at any given

time.” What is puzzling is that after

Ms. [redacted] spoke to [redacted] on the phone she was aware of his age and CHOSE to

meet him anyway. She could have called

her matchmaker and we would have simply apologized and replaced the

‘match’. The fact that she chose to meet

him knowing his true age and is now unhappy about it, is what is puzzling to

us. In any case, we will be glad to

replace this referral, again with our apologies. With feedback and open lines of communication

with the matchmaking department we will work with Ms. [redacted] to help her find

her ‘match’.

The next referral was [redacted], also a successful business owner

and a really sweet guy. Ms. [redacted]

called us 5/5/14 after meeting him and she said he is a ‘farmer’ and makes

‘mulch’. She was also unhappy that he

wore work boots when they met. He is a

not a farmer, but owns a nursery. As for

the work boots, we do tell the members to have a casual first date. After all, and in all due respect, they were

not going to a black tie event. At that

time Ms. [redacted] informed us that she does not want to be matched with any more

‘blue’ collar men. This is her

prerogative and we notated this on her matching profile for future matches. New Jersey Singles is all about ‘fine-tuning’

as we get to know Ms. [redacted] better.

It is important to note that we absolutely do background

checks, but not on a member’s ex-wife.

Background checks are run on every single member.

Per paragraph 4a of the Membership Agreement, “EXCEPT WHAT

IS OTHERWISE PROVIDED HEREIN, THERE IS NO RIGHT TO RESCIND THIS AGREEMENT. New Jersey Singles does not grant refunds or

accept cancellations of any kind, unless otherwise stated in this

agreement.” In addition, the credit card

receipt that was signed by Ms. [redacted] states, “NO REFUND”. We would like to work with Ms. [redacted] with

the common goal of making her happy that she joined New Jersey Singles. The matchmaking team is available Monday thru

Friday and is glad to address any of Ms. [redacted]’s concerns. We are waiting for her written feedback that

is required per paragraph 3f of the Membership Agreement. When Ms. [redacted] is ready to resume her

Membership we ask that she call [redacted], the Manager of the Member Services Department. We truly feel that this Membership could work

for her.

[A default letter is provided here which indicates your acceptance of the business's response. If you wish, you may update it before sending it.]

All that the business NJ singles has stated is true. I thought [redacted] was initially joking on his age. I agreed to meet him but quickly called the service line. I am not one who likes to reject someone of possible intrest nor intentionally hurt feelings. I did indeed have a very positive talk with [redacted]. I must say [redacted] took 45 min to speak with me in great detail what I am seeking and what I am not.

In addition to business name changing...I also saw hundreds of complaints online. It made me quite skeptical. I do not know these people but heard similar stories and don't want to be another jilted member. On good [redacted] I drop the claim at this time. I am hopefully not to be one of the bitter ex-members.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Review: This service is a datig service, which seems to be a scam. The organization took your money and now they are no where to be found.Desired Settlement: I want a refund of the money that I paid.

Response:

Tell us why here...New Jersey Singles is responding to this complaint from [redacted] She is not only calling thiscompany a scam but is saying that we took her money and are nowhere to befound. We have reviewed [redacted]Membership and clearly, she has been serviced according to the terms of theMembership Agreement. In addition, wehave been in regular contact with her. We are glad to review the history of her Membership herein. Not only is New Jersey Singles, NOT a scambut we are an excellent service and would like to continue to help [redacted]find her ‘special someone’.[redacted] came in to our Bridgewater, NJ office on10/26/2014 and met with our Counselor, [redacted] After an in-depth meeting she became a Member of New Jersey Singles. TheMembership fee was $2995 per the Membership Agreement and they agreed that shewould pay $1497.50 on a credit card that day. The balance of $1497.50 would be paid by the same credit card on11/26/2014. The fact that this complaint is claiming the purchase price is$3500 is very puzzling. [redacted] was given a copy of the Agreement so we donot know where that figure came from. She also lists the name of her salesperson as [redacted] and it was not[redacted], it was [redacted] We placed a welcome call to [redacted] 10/30/2014 andemailed her first referral 10/31/2014. We left her a message to make sure shereceived the introduction. We thenfollowed up to see how their meeting went and left messages for her 11/7,11/11/11/18 and on 11/25 she informed us that they would be meeting thatweekend. When [redacted] gave herfeedback on this gentleman she said he was nice, polite, a good age but she wantedsomeone more white collar, more upscale and therefore she did not meet him inperson. Two days after discussing thiswith her by phone [redacted] was emailed her next introduction on 12/4, aCollege Professor named [redacted] He isa great guy, intelligent, educated, a family man, nice looking with many traitsthat she was asking for. We neverreceived her feedback on [redacted] but he gave us feedback that he called herand that she texted him back that she is putting her Membership on ‘hold’. This means that she was unavailable to meethim. He was a great match for her, whywould she not meet him? After all, thatis the reason she joined the Service.Per paragraph 3f, “You the Member, are required to providewritten feedback within 10 business days of the receipt of eachintroduction. Written feedback isrequired and essential to the performance of this agreement.” Without the feedback from [redacted] we reallydon’t know why she did not meet [redacted]. We are waiting for this feedback. The next introduction was emailed to [redacted] on 12/19 andhis name was [redacted]. She gave feedback 1/6,stating that they met and although he was nice, polite, educated and well-dressed there was no chemistry. That isthe one thing we cannot predict but strive for. With her feedback and fine-tuning we can work with [redacted] to helpher find the ‘one’. We are ready to workon the next introduction for [redacted] but are waiting for this dispute to beresolved.Paragraph 4a of the Membership Agreement which was initialedand signed by [redacted] indicating that she read, signed and agreed with theterms, reads, “EXCEPT WHAT IS OTHERWISE PROVIDED HEREIN, THERE IS NO RIGHT TORESCIND THIS AGREEMENT. New JerseySingles does not grant refunds or accept cancellations of any kind, unlessotherwise stated in this agreement.” Inaddition, the credit card receipts indicate, “NO REFUN D”.At the conclusion of the meeting with [redacted], [redacted]completed an Interview Quality Questionnaire. Please see question 7 which reads, “Were you given adequate time to readand understand your membership agreement?” and she responded with “Yes”. Question 8 asks if provisions 4a and 4b of theMembership Agreement concerning cancellation and non-refundable fees wereexplained sufficiently and she answered “Yes”. [redacted] responded with “No” when asked inquestion 9 if there was any aspect of the membership that was not explainedsufficiently. New Jersey Singles would like to continue to work with [redacted]to help her meet great, quality men. After all, that is what she told usshe came to us for. We were surprised toreceive this dispute and we request that [redacted] contact [redacted], the Managerof the Member Services Department to discuss her concerns. She will be very happy to assist her.

Review: This matchmaking service promises matches with quality professional people, charges thousands of dollars but do not deliver the goods. After spending 2 hrs with a high pressured salesgirl, two months ago, filling out papers on my likes and dislikes, stressing what was most important to me in a relationship, I have yet to have them abide by my requests in my profile. My complaint is that it was a contract between both parties and since they are totally ignoring my requests and what I have paid for, I am requesting a refund. I have called their office 3 times and no one has called me back..

Response:

New JerseySingles is responding to the Revdex.com complaint filed by [redacted] New Jersey Singles has indeed been providingthe services contracted for by [redacted] per the terms of the MembershipAgreement. [redacted]

[redacted] went in to our Lawrenceville, NJ office on 10/23/2014 and after anin-depth meeting with our Counselor, [redacted], she decided to become a Member ofNew Jersey Singles. She paid the $1500by splitting the amount on two different credit cards, each for $750. In her statement, [redacted] refers to theCounselor as a “high pressured salesgirl”. In all due respect, New Jersey Singles does not operate that way and Iknow that [redacted], having been with the company for many years, was only trying tohelp [redacted] attain her relationship goals. She does not pressure anyone; she screens andqualifies them, gets to know them and ultimately discusses what it is they arelooking for. There is an Interview Quality Questionnaire that [redacted]filled out at the end of her appointment that will further show that this wasnot a high pressured situation. Question1 asks, “Did you enjoy our interview?”, and she responded by checking off a boxthat said “yes”. Question 3 is, “Wereyou comfortable speaking with your enrollment counselor?” and [redacted]answered with, “yes”. After [redacted] responded to 10 questions, she was asked “Overall, how would you rateyour counselor’s level of professionalism?” and she responded by circling “10”,which is the best possible score on a scale of 1-10! Underneath that is a space reserved for Commentsif the person wishes to add anything and [redacted] wrote in, of her ownfree will, “Very comfortable talking to [redacted]”. Again, this does not sound like she was feeling pressure at all. To the contrary, it sounds like she had anenjoyable meeting with [redacted]. It is ourunderstanding that the feeling was mutual. Per [redacted], [redacted] is a lovely woman andshe liked her very much.Perparagraph 4a of the Membership Agreement, which was initialed and signed by [redacted] indicating that she read and agreed with the terms, “EXCEPT WHAT ISOTHERWISE PROVIDED HEREIN, THERE IS NO RIGHT TO RESCIND THIS AGREEMENT. New Jersey Singles does not grant refunds or accept cancellationsof any kind, unless otherwise stated in this agreement. Additionally, the credit card receipt signedby [redacted] indicates, “NO REFUND”. Paragraph 2of the Membership Agreement, initialed by [redacted] states, “Included inthe purchase price of this contract is a $1000.00 processing fee. The processing fee includes the services NewJersey Singles provides for the initial member interview, member testing, background checks and overall evaluation and screening for New Jersey Singlesmembership eligibility.” [redacted]’sentire membership fee was $1500.00, which is just $500 when you subtract theprocessing fee. Afterreviewing [redacted]’s file, it is evident by our notes, that she did speakto the Member Services Department on several occasions and that her phone callswere returned.[redacted]

[redacted] first referral, [redacted] was sent to her 10/30/2014. They met and [redacted] gave feedback stating that she liked that he was Christian, close indistance and made good conversation. Inaddition they had many things in common such as baking, theater, movies, daytrips, dining out and more. They werealso both open to new things. [redacted]felt that he was too laid back and stocky. That is the exact reason that we require feedback from the Members, thatway we can fine-tune and utilize the information going forward with future introductions. The Member Services Department is available for [redacted] to call todiscuss her feedback as well. The nextreferral, [redacted] sent 11/21/2014, did not call [redacted]. We will surely look into that, but for now,we can only apologize and move on. Ofcourse, this referral will be replaced. Recently, another introduction was sent to [redacted]. We are awaiting her feedback as is required per paragraph 3f of theMembership Agreement. TheMembership Agreement was reviewed with [redacted] before she left theLawrenceville office. She was well awareof the no refund clause in this Agreement and even indicated that when she completedand signed the Interview Quality Questionnaire. Question 7 was, “Were you given adequate time to read and understandyour membership agreement?” and her answer was “yes”. [redacted] also responded to questionnumber 8 with a “yes”, when asked if she was sufficiently explained the cancellationand non-refundable clause. New JerseySingles would really like to work with [redacted] to help her succeed in hersearch for her ‘special someone’. Clearlythere is no refund due, as evidenced herein, [redacted] has been serviced accordingto the terms of the Membership Agreement. We are waiting for [redacted]’s feedback onthe last introduction and ask that she call [redacted] the Manager of the MemberServices Department when she is ready to move on. We understand that [redacted] will behaving surgery at the end of January and she agreed to keep us posted as to thedate so we can give her the time she needs to recuperate before getting hernext introduction. New Jersey Singleswishes her well.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because: I am not in total agreement of what has been stated. Will discuss further with the company.

Regards,

Review: I contacted New Jersey singles after I saw their advertisement online. I met with an agent "Joyce" on March 07, 2015 at Park 80 west, 250 Pehle Avenue, Saddle brook, NJ.

on the day of the interview I was pushed by Joyce with extremely high pressure to sign the contract. Joyce told me if I did not sign at that moment the fee would escalate from $2500.00 to $3000.00.

I was questioned by Joyce reference specific criteria requirements in a mate. I clearly repeatedly expressed that the candidate meet masters degree in education and be in proximity to my home in [redacted] county and the minimum height be over 5 feet 10inches.

I asked Joyce especially if they had available resource of men meeting my criteria, as this was my main concern.

"Joyce" emphasized that New Jersey Singles had plentiful professional men to match with me. She stated that they had over 4000 members, had members who are doctors, lawyers and engineers.

New Jersey Singles has sent me the profile of one alleged member who has associate degree. I became immediately suspicious of NJSingles since they failed to adequately evaluate the match referred to me.

I came to realize that NJSingles does not have " Plentiful professional men who are doctors, lawyers and engineers as described by their representative "Joyce."

I immediately contacted them via telephone and registered letter asking them to cancel the contract and refund my payment in the amount of $2500.00 since my consent to the contract was obtained specifically through fraud and misrepresentation. This was a scam.

They misled me and pressured me to sign the contract.

NJ single has refused to cancel my contract and refund my payment.

I request your assistance in canceling my contract and refund of $2500.00 on the basis of fraud, misrepresentation of services and extreme pressure to sign contract on the spot.Desired Settlement: Cancel my contract

Refund $2500.00

Response:

New Jersey Singles is responding to the request for a refundby Ms. [redacted]. We have beenservicing Ms. [redacted] per the terms of the Membership Agreement. New Jersey Singles feels that with hercontinued feedback and open lines of communication with us, this Membershipcould really work for her. Ms. [redacted] went into our Saddlebrook, NJ office on 3/7/2015,and after an in-depth meeting with our Counselor, Joyce, she decided to becomea Member of New Jersey Singles. On 3/11,we welcomed Ms. [redacted] by telephone and the next day we sent her firstreferral. Ms. [redacted] decided not to meet this gentleman becauseshe did not like his level of education. This gentleman is a successful business owner, is tall, financiallysecure, lives close to where Ms. [redacted] resides and they have many interests incommon. Per paragraph 5 of the addendumthat is signed by Ms. [redacted], indicating that she read and agreed with theterms, “My signature below verifies that I understand that my preferences are“preferences” and not “requirements.” Ifat any time New Jersey Singles is unable to select an introduction who fulfillsall of my preferences, New Jersey Singles will select an introduction who iscompatible with my preferences but who may not meet all of the preferences Iindicated in my profile.” This is alsooutlined in the Membership Agreement in paragraph 3c that was signed by Ms.[redacted]. In order to promote good will, wewill agree to add another referral in its place. The next referral was [redacted], who is an Educator with twoMaster’s Degrees. He is a wonderful‘match’ for Ms. [redacted]. He is anaccomplished, educated, successful gentleman and met her age and distancepreferences. In addition they have a lotin common. After her first referral, Ms.[redacted] spoke to Vicki, in our Member Services Department and told her that she wouldprefer a gentleman with a Master’s Degree, or more, but would be openfor a gentleman with a Bachelor’ Degree if he was accomplished. Not only does this gentleman fit herpreferences, he does have two (2) Master’s Degrees. We were puzzled as to why this referral didnot result in a meeting. The gentlemangave feedback that he left Ms. [redacted] two (2) voicemails and she never returnedhis calls. This is not appropriatebehavior as the gentleman was a good ‘match’ for her and he was looking forwardto meeting her. Per paragraph 3d of the signed Membership Agreement, “Uponreceipt of any given introduction, each member must make his/her best effort tomeet each introduction in person. NewJersey Singles reserves the right to suspend the membership of any member whofails to respond to any attempted contact by any introduction”. As of this writing, we have not received written feedbackfrom Ms. [redacted] on either of the two referrals that we sent to her. Per paragraph 3f of the Membership Agreement,“You the Member, are required to provide written feedback within 10business days of the receipt of each introduction. Written feedback is required and essential tothe performance of this agreement.” Inorder to proceed, we will need Ms. [redacted]’s written feedback or her Membershipcan be suspended and ultimately terminated. That is absolutely not our wish, we just would like the feedback so wecan help her succeed with her Membership. Per paragraph 4a of the Membership Agreement (signed andinitialed by Ms. [redacted]), “EXCEPT WHAT ISOTHERWISE PROVIDED HEREIN, THERE IS NO RIGHT TO RESCIND THIS AGREEMENT. New Jersey Singles does not grant refunds oraccept cancellations of any kind, unless otherwise stated in thisagreement.” Additionally, the creditcard receipt, signed by Ms. [redacted] stated, “NO REFUNDS OR EXCHANGES’. Below Ms. [redacted]’s signature on the Membership Agreement, itstates, “Your signature above indicates that you have read this agreement, verifying the accuracy of all the information you’ve supplied on the agreement, have received a copy, and agree that this constitutes the entire understandingof Member and the Company and that no oral representations by either partyshall in any way affect this agreement. You further accept all terms, conditions, and rules regarding New JerseySingles membership.” Before leaving the Saddlebook office, Ms. [redacted] completedand signed an “Interview Quality Questionnaire”. She answered “Yes” to questions 7 and 8asking if she was given adequate time to read and understand the MembershipAgreement and also if the provisions regarding cancellation and non-refundablefees were explained sufficiently to her. Ms. [redacted] answered “No” to question 9 when asked if her counselor failedto explain any aspect of the membership. New Jersey Singles would truly like Ms. [redacted] to be happywith her Membership. Ours goals are thesame and that is for her to have a successful Membership. According to all that has been documentedherein, clearly there is no refund warranted. We will agree to add another referral for the first referral that Ms.[redacted] was not pleased with, and suggest that she discuss her concerns withSusin, the Manager of the Member Services Department. We do not feel that Ms. [redacted] has given thisMembership a chance and we would like to turn things around for her. When she is ready to resume her Membership,we suggest Ms. [redacted] call Susin, who will be very happy to assist her.

Review: I [redacted] signed up with NJ SIngles on March 19th 2013 with [redacted]l. I was assured that consistent with contractual language, all matches would undergo rigorous process of interviews, testing background checks, and overall evaluation and screening for eligibility.

After a non-call for a couple of weeks, I called and spoke with [redacted] who told me she has set me up with someone who would call me. She was quick to get off the phone and basically slammed the phone in my ear. I never heard from that match she referred me to. I called again

and she said someone else will be calling me. She slammed the phone in my ear once again. Finally on April 8th 2013, a man by the name of [redacted] called. We had a brief conversation and among other things he said that he never undergone a background check and

also found out that he had none of my interests. He lived over 30 miles away and said he can only date on a Saturday night. He also shared his displeasure with NJ Singles and expressed mutual concern that he regretted ever signing up with them and believed he had

wasted his money.

After the conversation, I immediately began researching this company, and quickly became aware of other 150 separate lawsuits. Currently files again the company either by its current name or that of the parent company, [redacted] formally sued them in small claims court.

Beyond that, If I am not refunded my money, I am committed to making this company's unethical practices well known through the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs, as well as the NJ Department of Human Services Division of Aging Services as I note of over whelming

number of senior citizens have been targeted by them.Desired Settlement: $2995.00

Response:

June 23, 2014

New Jersey Singles received

complaint #[redacted] regarding [redacted].

We are sorry that she is unhappy with her membership and we would like

to work with her to change that.

[redacted] came in to our

Lawrenceville, New Jersey office on 3/19/14 and after an in-depth meeting with

our counselor, [redacted]l, she decided to become a member of our dating service. On 3/26/14, [redacted] received a welcome

call from one of our matchmakers. On 4/1

the first referral, [redacted] was sent to [redacted]. When she informed the

matchmaker, [redacted] that he did not call her, [redacted] went to work on another ‘match’

for her. Thus, on 4/8 [redacted] was

sent [redacted], who was a wonderful match for her.

He fit her preferences in all areas such as age range, height range,

being a non-smoker, being financially secure and had the personality traits

that she requested. [redacted] also

fulfilled her preference that she be matched with men that have children. In addition, they have so many interests in

common including travel, the beach, dining out, theater and golf (which she

loves), and more. These interests were

told to us by [redacted] himself. Although

this gentleman DOES play golf, [redacted]’s profile indicates only that it,

“would be nice if he golfs”. This was a

preference and not a requirement, yet we were happy that he was indeed a

GOLFER!. [redacted] is a wonderful match for

her! So, it was quite a surprise when on

4/10 [redacted] called her matchmaker and was angry. She was angry, she said because he could only

meet her Saturday night. Many of our

members would not pick a Saturday evening to meet because it is usually

reserved for someone ‘special’. This was

a good sign, it indicates to us that he liked her on the phone and was willing

to meet her on Saturday, rather than a week night. Then she was unhappy with the distance saying

that he lived too far away. According to mapquest the distance is approximately

30 miles. New Jersey Singles feels that

this is reasonable and we ask that the members be open up to 50 miles.

It is important to note that

per paragraph 3c of the Membership Agreement that was initialed and signed by

[redacted], indicating that she read and agreed with the terms, “Preferences

are used as a guideline for Membership services when seeking potential

introductions. As introductions are

based on an AS-AVAILABLE basis, introductions will be made that are as nearly

compatible to a members preferences at any given time”. Additionally, the Addendum, also signed by

[redacted] on 3/19/14 states, “My signature below verifies that I understand

that my preferences are “preferences” and not “requirements.” If at any time New Jersey Singles is unable

to select an introduction who fulfills all of my preferences, New Jersey

Singles will select an introduction who is compatible with my preferences but

who may not meet all of the preferences I indicated in my profile.”

[redacted] states that [redacted]

told her that he had not undergone a background check. She states that she was

assured in her initial interview that “all matches forwarded would undergo

rigorous process of interviews, testing background checks, and overall

evaluation and screening eligibility.”

This is all correct. We

absolutely did reassure [redacted] that every member undergoes a ‘criminal

background check’. We will not accept

any member without one. Thus, [redacted] was

no exception and absolutely had a background check done immediately upon

becoming a member, just as every member does.

Due to confidentiality, we cannot furnish it here but we could supply a

copy of the completed form that contains his first name only, if need be. We assure you that he passed the background

check with flying colors.

New Jersey Singles would like

[redacted] to be happy with her membership.

We will replace her first referral, [redacted] since he didn’t call her. We

are sorry that happened and can only apologize and move on.

[redacted] states that she

began researching the company and came across many complaints filed against the

company. In a prior complaint made by

[redacted], she produced complaints that have no affiliation with New Jersey

Singles. We are not saying that we never

receive complaints but the few complaints that we have received have been

resolved. New Jersey Singles prides

themselves with excellent customer service.

Per paragraph 4a of the

Membership Agreement that was read, signed and initialed by [redacted],

indicating that she agreed with the terms, “EXCEPT WHAT IS OTHERWISE PROVIDED

HEREIN, THERE IS NO RIGHT TO RESCIND THIS AGREEMENT. New Jersey Singles does not grant refunds or

accept cancellations of any kind, unless otherwise stated in this

agreement.” Additionally [redacted] signed

the credit card receipt which states, “NO REFUND”.

On 5/16 we matched [redacted]

with a terrific guy named [redacted]. The first activity he listed was golf! [redacted] is a 64 year old gentleman who is

successful, active, professional, tall, widowed and is a great guy with two

grown children and has other wonderful qualities. We feel they are a great ‘match’ and we are

awaiting feedback as is required in paragraph 3f of the Membership

Agreement. It reads, “You the Member,

are required to provide written feedback within 10 business days of the receipt

of each introduction. Written feedback is required and essential to the

performance of this agreement.” We are

very excited about this ‘match’.

In conclusion, New Jersey

Singles would like to continue to help [redacted] find her ‘special

someone’. We have been working very

diligently with her to accomplish this goal and feel that with feedback and

open lines of communication with the member services department, this could

really work for her. When she is ready to resume her membership, we ask that [redacted]

[redacted] submit her written feedback and then call the Member Services

Department.

Sincerely,

New Jersey Singles

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:

I was received in a very unprofessional manner after paying such a large sum of money for this service. I was hung up on twice and went back to discuss my displeasure with [redacted]l who made this service sound so

inviting. I then began searching this company and quickly became aware of over 150 separate consumer complaints filed against the company either in it's current name or that of the Parent Company, [redacted]

In addition to their response, I never spoke to a [redacted], I don't want anything to do with this service. I think think it is a scam, and they take advantage of older lonely people and ask for way too much money for

what they promise to give. I regret signing any contract with this service and hope this letter goes public for all others thinking of interviewing for NJ Singles.

Regards,

New Jersey Singles is a sham. Don't get me wrong, they have a phenomenal sales pitch that lures you in. It is awful how they tell you that you have to put the money down right there after the sales pitch or you will never be able to do business with them again. And then they claim to give you tests in order to make a nice fit, as well as claim they have matchmakers who are experts in matching. However, it is crystal cleat that they just match any two warm bodies together. I had over 7 matches and each one was clearly not a match in any way. I am Jewish and they matched me twice with a catholic man who only wants to date catholic women. Each match I spoke with also felt that the prior matches they had were a joke. The men are also not high caliber in education or looks. I have done much better on online dating and suggest you save your money and stick with online dating. The owner and the employees should be ashamed at the service they perform. They take lonely single people and make them believe that they will be seriously matched when they are not. They take advantage of single people and take their hard earned money. They also charge different amounts for each client depending on your salary and how naive you are. I wish someone warned me before I gave my hard earned $3,000 to such a scam.

Review: After signing a contract with [redacted] in the Lawrenceville , NJ office for $3,995.00 for a match making service that would introduce me to 5 compatible gentlemen, I have met 3 and the last one I was told they wouldn't hold it against my total referrals if I didn't like him because they know he is handicapped . Since I have been calling weekly and asking when my next referral would be since I haven't heard from anyone again. When I signed on in June 2013 I was told that they have a lot of matches for me already since they have over 7000 members. When I signed the contract I was informed that the gentlemen would be matched according to the profile form I filled out. As of this date, almost 9 months have passed and I feel like I'm getting the run around. My last 2 referrals made never called, or when I called they did not answer. What kind of a match up is this? Aren't these referrals checked out better?Desired Settlement: I would like to have at least 3 more screened referrals as per profile , and not just anybody , just to get rid of me.

Response:

We received complaint [redacted] dated 2/10/14, from [redacted] on 2/19/14. New Jersey Singles is very sorry to hear that she is unhappy with her membership and would like to see if we could rectify the situation.

It is evident from reviewing Ms. [redacted]'s file that a lot of work has been done to help her find her ’special someone’. As she states, the signed membership agreement is for five (5) introductions. Thus far we have sent Ms. [redacted] six introductions. Per paragraph 3b of the agreement which was initialed, read and signed by Ms. [redacted] indicating she understood and agreed with the terms, "For the purposes of this agreement, an introduction is made when New Jersey Singles provides you, the Member, with a name and telephone number of another member.” It also states, "An introduction caunts against the Membership once the member receives the name and contact information of another member, whether orally or in writing. You, the Member, acknowledge that New Jersey Singles is an introduction service and in no way guarantees that chemistry will result from an introduction, nor any specific outcome from an introduction (i.e. dating, relationships or marriage)". In essence, we could say that all six referrals would come as introductions, but we wouldn't do that. Ms. [redacted] actually met three of the gentlemen in person and we agreed to replace One of them. Ms. [redacted] spoke to her fourth referral on the telephone for over one hour and she decided not to meet him. We feel that conversations on the telephone should be brief and plans should be made to meet in person as that is when you can really determine if there is a connection. In this case, since it was a one-time occurrence, we will be glad to replace this referral as well.

The fifth referral, [redacted] did not call Ms. [redacted] and we can only apologize and move on. We feel terrible that this happened and have recently found out that he Was having computer problems and never received the referral. Of course we replaced this referral as well.

The most recent referral, [redacted], was sent out 2/6/14. By 2/10/14 we had already received Ms. [redacted]'s feedback saying that she called him and did not get an answer. We give the gentlemen 7-10 days to reach out to their referrals since people are busy. Ms. [redacted] sent in this feedback way too prematurely.

Ms. [redacted]’s referrals have been sent to her in a timely fashion according to the terms of the agreement. Per paragraph 3b of the membership agreement, "Introductions are generally provided at a rate of approximately one to two per eight week period. However, as introductions are provided on an AS AVAILABLE basis, the rate of provided introductions may vary with each individual member.” We want Ms. [redacted] to be happy and with patience and feedback we hope to achieve that goal.

In the complaint, Ms. [redacted] is requesting 3 more referrals that are well screened. We would like to offer the following in good faith. While we do screen the gentlemen, as she was screened when she joined, we will agree to contact the remaining referrals prior to sending the match to help insure that they are available to call her. New Jersey Singles would like to hear

from Ms. [redacted] again regarding the last referral since the feedback was sent so soon after she received it. It is possible that they have met since that time and we would like to know if that is

the case. We will agree to replace that referral if he did not call and add two more if he did.

New Jersey Singles would really like this membership to work for Ms. [redacted]. We have the same goals and would like her to have a successful membership. The member services department will wait to hear from Ms. [redacted] when she is ready to resume her membership.

Review: I joined this matchmaking service under the impression that they did background checks before accepting a client. My background check they said would take approximately two weeks which was fine with me and I felt this way it was a good faith statement that it would be comprehensive for me as well as any other clients and potential matches. The first gentleman was introduced to me as a businessman who owned his own company. He turned out to be deep in debt and was liquidating his business. The 2nd gentleman wound up being a convicted felon who had served jail time. The third potential match unfortunately lived in my community and after speaking on the phone we both decided this was too close for comfort. The amount of money NJ Singles charges, which, for me, was $4000 is fine if the caliber of matches would warrant the charges. This morning when speaking to one of the matchmakers, she said they do not do either a criminal nor credit check on their clients, which leads to the question: What kind of background check do they do that takes two weeks to complete? I therefore feel this company is a scam operation.Desired Settlement: I would like to be reimbursed at least half of the fee of $4000 at which time my membership would be terminated.

Business

Response:

New Jersey Singles is responding to the complaint from [redacted]. We feel that withcontinued feedback and open lines of communication with us, this Membershipcould work for her and we would like to make that happen. [redacted] states that she was told that the backgroundchecks take two weeks. This is not thecase, background checks are done immediately upon someone becoming a Member sothat the processing can be completed and they could be welcomed and matched. Just to be clear, we are referring to acriminal background check. On 12/3/2014, [redacted] went in to our Colts Neck, NJ officeand after an in-depth meeting with our Counselor, Lauren, she decided to becomea Member of New Jersey Singles. Wewelcomed [redacted] by telephone on 12/4. New Jersey Singles does not do credit checks but we do fillout a ‘qualification’ sheet that entails asking detailed questions regardingtheir finances. On completion, theperspective Member signs it, which means that they are declaring thateverything they told us is true. What weare looking for is that the person be financially stable. [redacted] would have gone through thissame procedure. [redacted] is claimingthat her first introduction told her that he was in debt and was liquidatinghis business. Although this informationis extremely confidential, we will say that on examining this gentleman’s‘qualification’ sheet, he was financially stable when he joined. Perhaps, since he is in his mid seventies, heis liquidating his business for retirement purposes. The second introduction, [redacted] is claiming, has hadlegal issues. New Jersey Singles cannotherein discuss this gentleman’s situation due to confidentiality. [redacted] told us that she did her ownbackground check on this gentleman and that she believed that people do changein life. [redacted] gave feedback thatshe liked him, that he was intelligent, well spoken and that they had a lot incommon. Even after doing the backgroundcheck, [redacted] continued to date this gentleman. Had she told us of her concerns prior tomeeting this gentleman, we would have replaced this introduction withoutquestion. Although they did ‘date’several times, in good faith, we will be glad to add another introduction toreplace it. Per paragraph 4a of the Membership Agreement, initialed andsigned by [redacted], indicating that she read and agreed with the terms,“EXCEPT WHAT IS OTHERWISE PROVIDED HEREIN, THERE IS NO RIGHT TO RESCIND THISAGREEMENT. New Jersey Singles does notgrant refunds or accept cancellations of any kind, unless otherwise stated inthis agreement.” Additionally, thecredit card receipts state, “NO REFUND”. Before leaving the Colts Neck office, [redacted] completedand signed an “Interview Quality Questionnaire”. She answered “Yes” to questions 7 and 8asking if she was given adequate time to read and understand the MembershipAgreement and also if the provisions regarding cancellation and non-refundablefees were explained sufficiently to her. [redacted] answered “No” to question 9 when asked if her counselorfailed to explain any aspect of the membership. As you can see, [redacted] was well aware ofthe cancellation policy. In the interest of resolving this complaint, New JerseySingles has agreed to replace one of the introductions that [redacted] haddated. The third gentleman was a great‘match’ for [redacted] but they decided not to meet because he lived in herdevelopment. We will also agree toreplace that introduction. Therefore, of the three introductions that were sentto [redacted], we are replacing two of them so she still has four referralsremaining of the five to be provided per the Membership Agreement. We feel that together we could work towardsour mutual goal, which is for [redacted] to meet her ‘special someone’. When she is ready to resume her Membership,we suggest that [redacted] call Susin, the Manager of the Member ServicesDepartment. She will be very happy toassist her.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Review: Complete lack of follow through. Unreturned phone calls over a 6 month period. False promises.

I paid for a service and they are unable to fulfill their contractual obligations.Desired Settlement: It's unheard of you cannot get your money back, if you can buy a car and return it the next day ,but you can't undo this paperwork for a dating site. I have been extremely disappointed with the interaction with personnel and tried to work it out with the owner. Response:

New JerseySingles received a complaint on 7/7/14 filed by [redacted] We are herein responding in the hopes ofresolving this issue and helping [redacted] find her ‘special someone’.[redacted]came into the Bridgewater office on 10/9/12, and met with our counselor,[redacted]. After an in-depth screening process[redacted] became a member of New Jersey Singles. The Membership Agreement that was initialedand signed by [redacted] indicating that she read and agreed with the terms, states that we will provide her with five (5) introductions. We have provided [redacted] with fiveintroductions. Per paragraph 3b of theAgreement, “For the purposes of this agreement, an introduction is made whenTwo of Us, (our name when she joined), provides you, the Member, with a nameand a telephone number of another member.” Since [redacted] only met with two gentlemen, as a courtesy we willreplace the other three referrals and thus she will still have three referralsremaining. The feedback that [redacted]gave us on one of the referrals, [redacted]stated that he seemed nice, friendly, hard working, and honorable but he wasn’tvery lively. She went on to say that shewould have seen him again indicating to us that she was not unhappy with thisreferral. Unfortunately he did not call [redacted] again, which is of course, out of our control. With her feedback,we will fine-tune and continue to search for the ‘right’ guy. After all, there are still three moregentlemen for [redacted] to meet and we would like her to be happy. To address[redacted]’s complaint that this is not like buying a car, this is a serviceand New Jersey Singles has been servicing her according to the terms of theAgreement. She was well aware of the policies since she read and signed the Agreementon the day she came into our office. Perparagraph 4a, “EXCEPT WHAT IS OTHERWISE PROVIDED HEREIN, THERE IS NO RIGHT TORESCIND THIS AGREEMENT. Two of Us doesnot grant refunds or accept cancellations of any kind, unless otherwise statedin this agreement.” In addition, thecredit card receipt that was signed by [redacted] states, “All Sales Final”and “NO REFUNDS”.[redacted]states that she did not get return phone calls. New Jersey Singles prides ourselves with excellent customerservice. It is never our intention tonot return calls. In the future if Ms.Neville is unhappy with the service we welcome her to contact [redacted], who is theManager of the Member Services Department and she will be glad to help her.To respondto [redacted]’s allegation that NewJersey Singles does not have a sufficient pool of people or that we find her “unmatchable”,neither is the case. We would like to work with [redacted] with the commongoal of making her happy that she joined New Jersey Singles. We have herein offered to replace threereferrals leaving her with a total of three more introductions. Since we do not have written feedback on thelast referral, [redacted], as is required in the Membership Agreement in paragraph 3f,we have no way to know if [redacted] met him. We are awaiting herfeedback. If they did meet then ofcourse this would count as referral number three. When **.[redacted] is ready to resume her membership, we ask that she send the feedback onthe last gentleman and call [redacted] the Manager of Member Services to let herknow. New Jersey Singles looks forwardto working with [redacted] in the future. We truly feel that this Membership could work for her.

I am rejecting this response because:

Issue of Returning phone calls: I am dealing with [redacted] the manager, I believe, unless there are two different women. I am not saying she is not pleasant, but after at least four phone calls on my own initiative over many months and being told "i have your file, I am putting it on the top and will send you a match by this Friday and then having it repeatedly not happen, cannot mean you pride yourself on communication. it is not happening. This was over , at least a four month period. Not acceptable. As for the last feedback you are waiting on, again, another fault of communication. You send me an introduction. But then [redacted] called me and told me Never mind, disregard it. I have told that to you twice. But I did go in and fill something out stating that. I was under the impression, you made the introduction and the man wanted someone who was more local. but the introduction had come thorough to me. But you called and said never mind. This was last September 2013. Since then , I met man by the name of [redacted], from Wharton, who is [redacted]Since my initial counselor , who no longer works with the company, was not very forthright and I had several discussions with [redacted] regarding this. Although, not in writing, [redacted] had given me extra introductions and the possibiity of pre-screening. [redacted] has been pleasant to deal with, but the follow through and communication is not happening. As for people liking me or not, that is not the issue. you are not accountable for that. The process , however, you are.

Review: In late August 2014 I join New Jersey Singles a Matchmaker service. I joined for primarilry two reasons: assistance from a matchmaker for help finding compatible partners and prescreening candidates to ensure accuracy of disclosed data. To date (almost 3 months later and 4 matches) I have not received either. [redacted] was my matchmaker and I have spoken with her three times....once when I joined, once after I demanded my money back from their corporate headquarters, and once to beg me to try another match. So much for what I was lead to beleive when I signed up. After you sign up with your 'matchmaker' you get shuffled to back office client services and never hear from the original person! As for my second reason, prescreening....3 out of the 4 matches had inaccurate information in other the description provided over the phone or their written profile. This was what I wanted to avoid by paying a lot money for prescreened matches. When I called to at first inquiry about my perceptions of the service I was sold I was reassured that my expectations were in line (after I was rerouted to several folks). I then was sent another match which was a repeat match from some week prior with inaccurate profile information! I do not beleive NJ Singles has the quality database they boost about nor the matching process they lead you to beleive they have. I then called back and requested my money back several times. Each time being told no we don't do that and let us try to help you. If this company is as reputable as the claim then providing a refund to an unhappy customer who has proof of inadequacies, they should just provide the refund.Desired Settlement: I would like a complete refund of my $5,000. They mispresented themselves, their capabilities and their database.

New JerseySingles received this complaint in which Ms. [redacted] is requesting a refund. It is evident that we have worked diligentlywith Ms. [redacted] to help her find her ‘special someone’. We feel that with continued feedback and openlines of communication she can be very successful with our Service.Ms. [redacted]went in to our Hackensack, NJ office on 8/19/2014, and after an in-depth meetingwith our Counselor, [redacted], decided to become a Member of New Jersey Singles. The next day, Ms. [redacted] received a welcome call from us and the first referralwas sent to her on 8/25/2014. According to the feedback that Ms. [redacted] gave us,she met this gentleman but was not interested in pursuing things further. She did say that she liked talking to him onthe telephone, he was talkative, upbeat, nice and casual and had similar viewpoints. The next referral was[redacted]. Ms. [redacted] refused to meethim because she said he is a mechanic. [redacted] happens to be a great guy, is professional, financiallysecure and had a lot in common with Ms. [redacted]. This gentleman has a College Degree and is an Airline Engineer. Nevertheless, and to promote good will, wewere happy to add a referral in its place and we sent her another referral named[redacted], that very same day. We have notheard back from Ms. [redacted] with her feedback on [redacted], which is required per theterms of the Membership Agreement. Paragraph 3f reads, “You the Member, arerequired to provide written feedback within 10 business days of the receipt ofeach introduction. Written feedback isrequired and essential to the performance of this agreement.” [redacted], was a great ‘match’ for Ms. [redacted]. He was 44 years old, educated, bright, divorced, successful, financially secure and they have a lot of the sameinterests. Since we did not receive anyfeedback from Ms. [redacted], we have no way to know whether or not they met. On 9/10/2014 we sent Ms. [redacted] anintroduction named [redacted]. Ms. [redacted]gave us feedback that they met but he was not active and there was noattraction. Chemistry is the one thingwe cannot guarantee, but strive for. Per paragraph4a of the Membership Agreement that was initialed and signed by Ms. [redacted],indicating that she read and agreed with the terms, “EXCEPT WHAT IS OTHERWISE PROVIDED HEREIN, THERE IS NO RIGHT TO RESCINDTHIS AGREEMENT. New Jersey Singles doesnot grant refunds or accept cancellations of any kind, unless otherwise statedin this agreement.” Additionally, the credit card receipt signed by Ms. [redacted]indicates, “NO REFUNDS OR EXCHANGES”. Beforeleaving the Hackensack office, Ms. [redacted] completed and signed an “InterviewQuality Questionnaire”. Question number7 was, “Were you given adequate time to read and understand your membershipagreement?” and her answer was “yes”. Ms. [redacted] also responded to question 8 with a “yes” when she was askedif she was sufficiently explained the cancellation and non-refundableclause. Afterreviewing Ms. [redacted]’s Membership it is evident that we have been working withher to make her happy. New JerseySingles continues to be ready and eager to fulfill the terms of the MembershipAgreement. The Agreement states thatthere is to be a total of twelve (12) introductions. We have graciously agreed to add another forthe gentleman that she chose not to meet. Therefore, there is now 9 or 10 introductions remaining, depending onwhether or not she met [redacted]. New JerseySingles feels that Ms. [redacted] could be truly happy with her Membership and wealready have someone in mind for her. When she is ready to resume her Membership, wewould need her feedback on [redacted] and ask that Ms. [redacted] call [redacted] in theHackensack office, who will be very happy to assist her.

I am rejecting this response because:

This compliant is not accurate and does not depict what actually transpired. My primary compliant has nothing to do with their service in providing the matches (although this is lacking as well) it has to do with the quality of the matches ( and the fact that there were misrepresentations on 3 of 4 matches) and the quality of their database (1 match was recycled). Furthermore as explained to the matching folks and [redacted] from Hackensack, it wasn't that he was a mechanic that I was concern is that his profile misrepresented him as an 'engineer'. When I did a quick google search it revealed mechanic on google. Additionally if [redacted] feels so strongly about this, why didn't she call me to explain the dfferencecs in Sept but waited until the third time I was asking for my money to actually have a conversation?I should have never signed that agreement as I have never signed something so restrictive in the past. My gut told me this was not a reputable company (why would they need that type of agreement) but I was lured by the appeal of their representative of the quality of their matches and the fact the properly sell their Revdex.com rating (which is why I am coming to your organization first). Finally, if NJ Singles is a reputable firm who stand behind their quality, why not provide the refund and why not go into a business relationship without such a negative penalizing contract?I would also like to request to see the compliants from the 3 other individuals filed with your organization. Are they similar?

Response:

New JerseySingles is responding to Ms. [redacted]’s rejection of our previous response. Ms. [redacted] states that her complaint is not ofthe service provided but it is the quality of the matches. First, wewould like to start by saying that New Jersey Singles would like to continue towork with Ms. [redacted] to make this a successful membership for her. We feel strongly that with feedback and openlines of communication with [redacted], they can fine-tune and turn this experiencearound. We want nothing more than forher to be happy and we would like to help her meet her ‘special someone’. Since Ms.[redacted] is questioning the quality of the matches, here is a brief overview ofthe gentlemen that she was matched with. Each of these gentlemen are successful, financially secure, active, intelligent, caring gentlemen looking to find their someone ‘special’. They are hard working, honest men with goodmorals and values. Two of them haveMaster’s Degrees and the other two have Bachelor’s Degrees. They all have varied interests that are verymuch in line with what Ms. [redacted] is looking for. Ms. [redacted] likes sports, dining out, takingwalks, the beach, travel and hiking. Likeherself, they too have similar interests as well as an interest in culturalactivities and the arts. There seems tobe an issue with Ms. [redacted] questioning the occupation of one gentleman inparticular. His profile indicates thathe is an Engineer for an airline and Ms. [redacted] is stating that he is amechanic. Our records also reflect thathe has a degree in Engineering. We wouldnever intentionally mis-represent any of our Members. One gentleman is self employed, another is aDirector of Sales and then another is VP of a very prestigious firm that we arenot at liberty to divulge since that is personal and confidential. Every one of these men earn in the sameballpark as Ms. [redacted] or more. Perhapsher definition of ‘quality’ is somewhat different than ours. New Jersey Singles is not looking to arguewith Ms. [redacted], we truly would like to work this out to make her happy. The best solution is for Ms. [redacted] to discussanything that is on her mind with [redacted] and together they can resolve thesematters.Ms. [redacted] isstating that if we are a reputable company then why would we not provide herwith a refund? In addition she isquestioning the reason for the contract as she feels it is restrictive. The Membership Agreement is as much for herbenefit as it is ours. The agreed uponterms are outlined very clearly so that the Member is aware of exactly whatservices they will be receiving. Ms.[redacted] signed and initialed the Membership Agreement in several places, thusindicating that she read, understood and agreed with the terms. She absolutely knew that there were norefunds. Her credit card receipt thatshe signed, also indicated that there were no refunds. In addition, the Interview QualityQuestionnaire asked if she was given adequate time to read and understand theagreement and she said “yes”. Ms. [redacted]also said “yes” when asked if she was sufficiently explained the cancellationand non-refundable clause.Inconclusion, New Jersey Singles would like to work ‘together’ with Ms. [redacted] tohave this Membership work for her. In ourlast response, we offered to add another referral for the gentleman that shechose not to meet. That offer stillremains. We request that when Ms. [redacted]is ready to resume her Membership with New Jersey Singles, that she call [redacted]to review her profile and voice her concerns. [redacted] will be very happy toassist her.

I am rejecting this response because:- I do not want to work with [redacted]. It states with open and honest communication with [redacted] in their response. [redacted] have had open communications with me until the third time I called the head office and finally spoke with a supervisor requesting reimbursement. I told them that at the time and I don't know now what she would have to offer. - If you read my compliant, the quality of matches concern has to do with the untruths told to me and on the profiles sent to me. It has nothing to do with financial or social status. Additionally they matched me with the same guy twice after I declined the first time. Very poor quality control.- Lastly, they are right about one thing. I should HAVE NEVER signed the contract. My gut told me that when I was there and [redacted] 'talked' me into it. I should have taken it with me and thought about. I restate my words in the initial letter, if NJ Singles is a respectable business, they would offer a refund. Also can you please send me the 3 other compliants filed on the Hackensack NJ singles? When I was there [redacted] boasted about her rating with Revdex.com. I was very surprised to read there were 3 compliants (again shame on me for not checking).

Review: I signed up with this service after answering tons of questions. During the interview process I was told I need to compromise on some conditions like age and height of a potential date. So I did. Now when matches come I'm asked to compromise even further meaning the servie said they can go out side the parameters I already compromised on in the person to person meeting. I would like a refund or I would like matches well within the criteria specified. This is an expensive service and I would never have paid this much money to constantly compromise. I paid a premium for a premium service and I am not getting what I paid for.Desired Settlement: I'd like a refund or I'd like the matches I requested. I'd also like to see some activity because the matches are too few and far between. If the service can't provide what they claim to provide then they should have siad no...we do not have what you are looking for and they should not have taken my money.

I am rejecting this response because:

The response here is exactly what my complaint refers to. My daing preference was actually 5 feet 10 inches tall and up to 55 years old. I was convinced at my meeting to compromise to 5 feet 8 inches tall. Which I did. I had no idea that the computher had 5 feet 7 inshes tall. In addition it was never explained to me that the computer or the contract stated the match can go outside the preferences because (as I said the original complaint) I would have specified my preferences differently at the intial meeting. In addition, I have called numerous times and stated in the online update njsingles provides what my preferences are but the company continues to try and convince me to go outside my preferences. The sales person also negotiated price with me in the office and I was told I had to sign that day. That left little time for me to review the contract and had I taken the time I would have seen that the contract stated it would go out side the preferences stated. This to me is a dishonest practice. I can tell you it was never reviewed with me that the search would go out side my preferences. As far as age goes "48-58"

is absolutely incorrect. My preferences were 48- 55 and again I was conviced to step outsie my zone. Which I did but then was asked once again to compormise. I did agree to meet the older man because I was coerced into doing so. He was a nice man but was not for me as he was too old for me.This service claimed to be able to provide me with quality matches that meet my preferences and for a premium. They made a promise that they have yet to meet since every match except for 1 was not within my prefernces. I would love for NJ Singles to find someone who meets my preferences. But it seems they can't. Lets call it a day. Pro-rate my refund if needed or deliver what was advertised and promised. Regards,

New Jersey Singles is responding to [redacted] rejectionof our response to her complaint. Wetruly would like to come to an understanding with her and hope we can continueto work with [redacted] to help her find someone special. Whereas [redacted] states that our response is what hercomplaint refers to, we documented the fact that she signed and initialed allthe paper work indicating her understanding and agreement with the terms of theMembership Agreement. New Jersey Singleshas the original matching profile card indicating what her preferences werewhen she joined. It very clearlyindicates that the height range preferred is 5’7” – 6’2”. With that said, the Member ServicesDepartment is always available to her if she would like to alter her originalpreferences. New Jersey Singles prides themselves with having a verysuccessful, professional service and we feel that [redacted] could absolutelybe successful with feedback and open lines of communication with us. [redacted] is a very intelligent woman and ifshe did not understand or agree with the terms, she could have asked morequestions or got up and walked out. Forher to say that she had to sign that day is inaccurate. We do offer a first visit discount if youbecome a member the day you come in. This in no way means that she was forced to become a member, that washer decision. In our former response we outlined paragraph 5 of theAddendum that was signed by [redacted]. It explains that “preferences” are not “requirements”. This is also outlined in the MembershipAgreement in paragraph 3c. So as not tobe repetitious, please refer to the initial response that explains thisfurther. All of these documents wereread and signed by [redacted]. [redacted] states that she had little time to review thecontract yet according to the Interview Quality Questionnaire, she stated thatshe was there 2 ½ hours and she checked “Yes”when asked if she was given adequate time to read and understand the membershipagreement. Please refer to our initialresponse to see how [redacted] answered the questions regarding theappointment that she had with us. Theywere all positive and there is no indication that she had any questions orconcerns. Ultimately, New Jersey Singles and [redacted] have the samegoal. That is for her to find ‘someonespecial’ and be happy. We can continueto go back and forth in this manner or we could agree to move on. New Jersey Singles has graciously agreed toreplace several referrals and offered to continue ‘matching’ [redacted] with 3remaining introductions. [redacted]liked and dated one of her introductions and she would have gone out again withanother gentleman that she was matched with. It is evident that this could work for her. Our resolution would be for [redacted] tocall [redacted], the Manager of the Member Services Department to review herconcerns. Together they can fine-tuneher profile and discuss moving forward. We will be very happy to continue working with her.

Review: I have received nothing but run around and empty promises from this company.

They have wasted my time and money and have delivered nothing. I was lied to repeatedly

and ignored for months when I questioned their business practices. I was totally taken

advantage of and I'm sorry I ever got involved with such a dishonest and poorly

run company.

Response:

New Jersey Singles is responding to the complaint filed by[redacted] who is unhappy with the Service. We are truly sorry that she feels that wayand we would like to turn this experience around for her. New Jersey Singles has been working to help[redacted] find her ‘special someone’. [redacted] went in to our Bridgewater, NJ office on7/7/2012, and after an in-depth meeting with our Counselor, [redacted], she decidedto become a Member of New Jersey Singles. On 7/10 we placed a ‘welcome’ call to [redacted] and the firstintroduction went out to her on 7/11. Under the Membership Agreement that was initialed and signed by Ms.[redacted] indicating that she read, understood and agreed with the terms, shewould be provided with 5 (five) introductions. After reviewing [redacted]’s Membership, the actual numberof introductions that were sent to her is 19. That does not count the numerous introductions that we called her todiscuss and she declined. New JerseySingles has bent over backwards to help [redacted]. By calling her prior to sending her areferral, she was actually getting the benefits of a feature called ‘selectivescreening’ that is included in bigger Memberships that cost a lot more moneythan the Introductory Membership that she selected. Paragraph 3a of the Membership Agreement clearlystates, “This Membership does not include SELECTIVE SCREENING. A Member with the Selective Screening optionwill be contacted via telephone by Membership Services with potentialintroductions. At that time the membermay accept or decline such introduction.” Although [redacted] did not pay for Selective Screening we often calledfor her approval because we wanted to make her happy. The Membership Agreement outlines the terms of theMembership and there were many times that [redacted] disregarded these termseven though she signed the Agreement. [redacted] told one gentleman that she was no longer a Member anddidn’t know why he was matched with someone who wasn’t a part of theprogram. Another gentleman called her 3(three times) and left messages, and did not get a call back from [redacted]. On the other hand, we do acknowledge thatthere were a few times when the gentleman did not call [redacted]. We are very sorry that happened and can onlyapologize and move on. Unfortunately we cannot control everything, although wewish we could. Making contact is soimportant that there is a clause in the Membership Agreement, paragraph 3dregarding this. “Upon receipt of anygiven introduction, each member must make his/her best effort to meet eachintroduction in person. Two of Us (ourformer name), reserves the right to suspend the membership of any member whofails to respond to any attempted contact by any introduction.” Per paragraph 3b, “For the purposes of this agreement, anintroduction is made when Two of Us provides you, the Member, with a name andtelephone number of another member.” It goes on to say, “An introduction countsagainst the Membership once the member receives the name and contactinformation of another member, whether orally or in writing. You, the Member acknowledge that Two of Us isan introduction service and, in no way, guarantees that chemistry will resultfrom an introduction, nor any specific outcome from an introduction (i.e.dating, relationships or marriage). NewJersey Singles thus, could count ALL 19 introductions that were sent to Ms.[redacted] and her Membership would have been done a long time ago. The fact is that we replaced the referralsthat did not result in meetings, although, per the Membership Agreement, we didnot have to do so. Although [redacted] did call the office to discuss herintroductions, we actually require that feedback be emailed to the MemberServices Department. Per paragraph 3f,“You, the Member are required to provide written feedback within10 businessdays of the receipt of each Introduction. Written feedback is required and essential to the performance of thisagreement.” According to the Agreement,we could have suspended [redacted]’s Membership for lack of written feedbackbut we did not do so. We have not receivedher feedback in writing on any of the 19 referrals that were sent to her. Per paragraph 4a of the Membership Agreement, initialed by[redacted], “EXCEPT WHAT IS OTHERWISE PROVIDED HEREIN, THERE IS NO RIGHT TORESCIND THIS AGREEMENT. Two of Us does notgrant refunds or accept cancellations of any kind unless otherwise stated inthis agreement.” Additionally, thecredit card receipt, signed by [redacted] states, “NO REFUNDS”. We have been working very diligently with [redacted] tohave this Membership work for her. Frankly, we were very surprised to receive this complaint after all thatwe have done to help her. Technically[redacted]’s Membership is done since she has met 5 (five) introductions. We still want her to succeed and would liketo add 1 (one) more introduction to replace a gentleman who after meeting, shefelt was too heavy and balding. At one point we even changed [redacted]’sMatchmaker, at her request, in an attempt to make her happy. It is evident that New Jersey Singles has been workingdiligently to help Ms.[redacted] find her ‘special someone’ per the terms of theMembership Agreement. We continue to beready and eager to work with her and would like to move on to the lastintroduction. When she is ready toresume her Membership, we ask that [redacted] call [redacted] and speak tothe Manager[redacted], who will be happy to assist her.
