Review: I was quoted amount for 573 square feet when the movers came they told me I had over the amount ... When the second set of movers came to drop off my stuff they told me I had only 350 square feet and they showed me the space on the truck .. I was unable to look on the truck when they loaded it from [redacted] .. I'm very upset and was scammed . I'm a single mother of three children and they should be ashamed of themselves for taking advantage of me ...Desired Settlement: I wanted to be compensated for the items I had to leave behind I have proof of all the things I had to leave behind .

Response:

[redacted] Knows very well that the price per cubic feet will not change. So the customer has the only control over the price, and the Items that he or she want us to move.[redacted] did sign the binding price, and agreed. The trailer driver's job is to drive from point A - point B to the delivery destination. His job is to delivery multiple jobs on his route. He has no information about the actual cubic feet that is taken on each job in his truck.

These guys were fantastic. They really did a lot to decrease the cost as much as they could (combined boxes to decrease space, etc) which was lovely. I liked interacting with them. Everything was super professional and they made sure to communicate what they were doing and why every step of the way which was good for me because this is my first time hiring a company to move out of state. I'd def use them again.

Review: 1. First the company gaveme an estimate of $1255 for my move. After they load the goods in the truck they tell I'll have to pay $2450 and won't let me check the space in the truck taken from my goods. On delivery, I checked and measured the space and it was $450cf instead of 600cf that I was charged. The driver that delivered was from another company, so he let me measure. Price difference is (600-450) *4.25 = $637 over charged..

2. A watch was stollen in my house from the packers that were sent, for which I contacted the company but they won't do anything about it. Value of watch $400' purchased in December 2014.

3. Several other items were scratched and damaged, headboard, tv table, baby crib, couch.Desired Settlement: I want the watch that was stollen in my house back.

I want a refund of $637 for the extra space that I was charged for my goods. Check refund

I want a refund for all damaged items explained above .$1450 check refund

[redacted] ran to the truck and asked us to stay and to do the job at the new price. We agreed to perform that job but with a binding flat price .[redacted] agreed to it and signed all the documents before loading the truck.regarding the watch we did ask all the workers and the never saw any watch. ar this point its only [redacted] word agains the workers . but [redacted] did call the office with that issue and we gave him the claim management phone number to proceed with his claim.[redacted]

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

First of all, u show up on a sunday, when we had agreed for monday, no office informs us but a truck driver (unprofessionalism). As soon as the driver ([redacted]) gets into the house on sunday, with a very rude way, like he was a police officer and we had done smth wrong, he checks the staff and says us u have more than the estimate. Evthing in the house was what we had told [redacted](salesman) on the phone. We asked him to call [redacted] on the phone, as we wanted to clear the situation with him, he tells he cant call him cause is sunday. Another disagreement was the way of payment, he wanted us to pay 50% cash upfront and the rest again cash on delivery. We told him we weren’t going to pay cash because that’s not what we were told by [redacted]. It was at this point when your driver got mad and goes in the truck. And at this point there is no time for me, to cancel the order with u and hire smone else, cause I had dates fixed on when I needed to be @ my new location. I had to start a job in a fixed date. That’s why I went and agreed to finish the job, and he agreed to our previously set conditions of payment. I agreed for the job, but not to pay space we didn't use in the truck.[redacted] made me sign papers before loading, telling me we’re gonna fill the inventory items when we’re all done. Once they finish, he tells us we have 600cf, double the estimate and double the price. He didn’t let us get into the truck and measure. At this time he had also filled the papers leaves those to us, tells us is gonna take 5 days to deliver (when we were told by [redacted] 3-4) and goes his way. When I check the papers he had put in every inventory item, packed by [redacted] when nothing was packed by us. Why u do this ?? because the insurance company u tell , is not an insurance, is a third party who administers the claims for U, and at the end u’re the ones who pays for lost or damaged items. When I read this in the “insurances” web it was to late. That’s how u lie to people, that’s why he put PBO in the paper, so that u can be covered.2. About the watch :When your packer was packing glasses and other stuff that where in a hutch, my wife asks him where did he put the watch that was inside? He tells “oh I put it in the box”. [redacted] was in the the kitchen as well, and he translated , because the packer spoke [redacted] Filling bad, so he doesn’t have to unpack the box, my wife told him to leave it in there. Once again, we were all, outside the house, when my wife tells me about the watch, and I ask them where did u put the watch?? It was, 3 of them, and 2 of us, and he said he put it in the box. In front of every one, and nobody else touched that box, just him.Sure you will never accept the fact that your packer did still my watch, and as liars none of your employees will admit it. You gave to me that insurance phone number because you knew that [redacted] never wrote that watch on the list, and you knew that nothing was going to come out from that fake insurance thing.3. delivery dayThe delivery shows up after 8 days. It is another company ( [redacted]), for which I was never informed by your company. I hire u and u don't even inform me someone else will deliver. When the truck arrives, before unloading We ask the driver we need to check & measure the space. it ends up, we were using 450cf, and that u had charged us of 150cf more.Thats a big problem, cause I paid u, I agreed to pay, but not for space I didn’t use. anyway I have to give the driver the 50% cash, otherwise they won’t unload. As soon as they finish, we open the box, where the watch was supposed to be and it is not. Immediately we call and inform u, u just give us the “fake insurance” number. We call the next day, u tell my wife, we were trying to blackmail and get money out of this, when we never asked for money, we wanted the watch that was stolen in our house. U also accused my wife of lying, cause when she called on monday, u had checked with the [redacted] and he had told u our staff wasn’t delivered yet. I called the truck driver that delivered, and he tells me u never called him. And I have text msg from him , confirming the time of delivery. Monday feb [redacted] 12pm. were done by 1.30-2pm. We call u at 2.38pm.Beside all of these I have pictures of damaged furniture because of the poor way they packed.Once again, I want the refund for the unused space on truck, for the damaged furniture and I want my watch back.

ID#:[redacted]Thank you for the opportunity to respond to this complain. On the day of the move yes [redacted] did a walk through with [redacted], and find that there was more items then originally estimated given over the phone. Right away [redacted]'s wife started to cures at the crew with the "*" word. The crew then started to avoid any argurments and waited in the truck. That was when [redacted] came out to the truck and apologize to the crew and wanted to go ahead with the move. The move begain after the proper documents were signed and agreed by [redacted].Out Of State Movers did provide all the packing materials for the [redacted] to pack what they want to pack by them self, and they did because they wanted to save some space. Regarding the Watch, with all the respect we the crew of Out Of State Movers do not need a watch. At this point this is speculation without foundation. We expect ALL our customers keep their personal items personal. For example: Passports; jewlery; Money etc., Nobody from our crew ever saw the Watch before the move, during the move, or even after the move.Inventory list is listed by: China Boxes, Linen Boxes, Dresser, or end tables etc., Not what is insided the china boxes like....1 fork or 2 spoons.Regarding the delivery day payment, the payments was always agreed on and signed on the day of the move. So this shouldn't be a surprise [redacted]. On the delivery day, NEVER Personal checks, simply to avoid canceled check right after the delivery. Cash or postal money orders only on the day of the delivery. Finally Yes, we do have a real Claims Department. Anthem Claim Management: ###-###-####.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved becauseIt is hard to deal with some one or a company that base everything on lies and build a total new story from nothing.1- My wife never said that "*" word to anyone or any member of the crew. we are educated and polite enough not to do that, so that is a lie.2- [redacted] did walk around my apartment and we all agree he did. what we don't agree is his behavior when he was walking around. he never behaved as a professional foreman but as a cop or investigator. that was RUDE.3- We never put a "fork" or "Spoon" in any of the boxes, the crew did everything. IT was [redacted] who told me, that they are going to do everything professionally to help me saving some space. So saying that we did pack is a LIE.4- I understand that none of your workers don't need a watch as good as I understand that they need the money after selling the watch ( everybody need money). That watch wasn't a cheap one. I understand that you "may" feel embarrassed because one of your packer stole that watch and as I said before you will not accept it, but after your replay I really understand that all the 3 guys that were at my house did see the watch and they all know who did take it. You keep saying that no one did see the watch but you know that the watch was there, and you know that was going to hard to believeif u were going to say that I got that watch on the box and I already have it but I am just lying. knowing that, u choose to say that you never did see that watch. Did the packer guy share the money with you [redacted]?????5- I understand that check issue. The problem is, that when we were negotiating, [redacted] told us that we were going to pay by check all the amount. So you did lie to us at the beginning because you wanted us to hire you.6- How come you never talk about extra space that you did charge us????????? Because that is true and you are afraid to accept it. Because you know that u did lie us about the space that we used on the truck. At the end as I said on the top it is hard to deal with professional liars because that is what you are. Not professional movers as you sell your self but professional liars.Thank you.[Your Answer Here]

Sincerely,

Review: We (my wife and I) have been calling and emailing Out of State Movers for over a month to rectify problems and not only have they never answered a phone call, but they haven't bothered responding to our concerns. Any business ran by people who care so little for those whom they have wronged don't deserve to be in business.

We confirmed a moving date of Oct. [redacted] with OSM and were told there would be no changing it. Then three days before...they changed it. Told us they COULD NOT come on the confirmed moving date due to "state required vehicle inspections....ALL trucks had to be there". Lie number one. (The driver who did pick up our household goods on Oct. [redacted] let slip that he had jobs lined up the next day, our "confirmed moving day" in NJ where we were moving from AND NY, where the company is located.) Due to our apartment lease we could not move on the [redacted] and were forced to accept a move on the [redacted] instead. This was inconvenient for numerous reasons, but OSM would not budge or even apologize.

Before Oct. [redacted] we provided OSM an accurate inventory list, were told that based on the inventory list the move would take 341 cubic feet and we would be charged $3.25 per cubic foot. The inventory list is copied and pasted from an email they sent to us confirming the list:

INVENTORY LIST PROVIDED ON 10-**-14:

1-BED, QUEEN SIZE

1-DOUBLE, DRESSER

1-SINGLE, DRESSER

1-SM. ENT. CENTER

2-TV’S, 38”+42” FLAT SCREEN

2-FOLDING TABLE W/ 2-FOLDING CHAIRS

3-RUGS

1-SM. METAL TABLE

1-FLOOR LAMP

1-BOOKSHELF

1-WICKER CHAIR

5-MIRRORS

1-VACUUM CLEANER

2-HAMPERS

30-BOXES

When our driver showed up and was walked through the apt. he told us we had AT LEAST 800 cubic feet and he didn't have enough room in his truck for our move. REALLY!? So either OSM is awful at giving estimates in cubic feet, OR they purposely lower the estimate which lowers the cost and then tell their customers to pay the difference or find another mover on the day of the move. Terrible.

We were given the option of downsizing our belongings on the spot. That's right, our driver told my wife and I to our faces that we owned "too much stuff for two people". Backed into a corner we had to throw away items on the inventory list (yes, the list they had for weeks.) Out of the inventory list the following had to be thrown away because of OSM unprofessionalism:

1-SM. ENT. CENTER

1-SM. METAL TABLE

1-FLOOR LAMP

1-BOOKSHELF

1-WICKER CHAIR

5-MIRRORS

Later in the day our driver told us we got "a good deal on the price per cubic feet" because the man he had moved that morning (the only one before us) was charged over $5 per cubic feet because he had so few items. When I asked him why the truck was 7/8's full if the morning move was small he didn't have an answer for me.

The movers themselves were careless and haphazard with the belongings they packed. We caught all three of the men dumping entire drawers into boxes without protecting fragile items, not boxing musical instruments (as they had said they would) and trying to sneak them onto the truck without us seeing, and overall treating our belongings poorly.

We were told our move was over 900 cubic feet. With all the items we were forced to leave and only having 8 more boxes than estimated how on earth was the final move 62% more cubic feet than the estimate!!? Our bill of $1,108 became $3,176.83. Unbelievable.

We were told that we would receive a call three days in advance before delivery on Thursday Nov. [redacted], and when we hadn't heard from OSM by Nov. [redacted] I called to inquire. We were told that our delivery "probably" wasn't going to happen until the weekend. When I asked where my wife and I were supposed to stay until we had a bed to sleep in I was told "to sleep wherever I had that night". That was the last call OSM picked up from either my wife or I. They wouldn't return our calls and our delivery did not show up on the [redacted]. With OSM not answering calls or communicating when we should expect to see our delivery (if ever) I resorted to calling the driver from our pickup in Jersey as he had called me from his cell on the way to our apt. in Jersey. He told me our goods were in Virginia but they were stuck doing a big job and had to stop and sleep on the way to us, so Sunday the [redacted] would be our delivery date. They backed out of that too, saying the job in VA wasn't done and that Monday would happen by 12pm at the latest. At 9:14am on Monday the [redacted] I texted him to confirm the delivery time. His exact response:

"Good morning yes we are still for today I'm not sure about time we will call I 3-4 hours before"

That was the last I ever heard from that man. Our delivery did not show on Monday.

We finally received communication from our new delivery driver via his personal cell (never heard from OSM) that he was stopped at a truck stop and forbidden to continue to drive in the dark without his head lights working.

Our delivery came on Wednesday Nov. **, six days late, and it wasn't even being delivered by OSM!! They had contracted our delivery to another company without ever asking our permission. Better Rate Movers had one man deliver our entire household. That man was the only positive experience of the entire move. He was hard working and honest. He told us that he had picked up our belongings in NY on Sunday or Monday, so OSM had just lied to us when their driver told us our goods were stuck in VA on our way to us the previous weekend.

Upon arrival our delivery man and I discovered that the pick up movers had mis-numbered their "Household Goods Descriptive Inventory" so badly we couldn't verify what was being delivered and what wasn't. (Ex: The items list started at 180 and went to 259, but 180 to 189 was repeated twice and 210 to 219 didn't exist as they had gone from 207, 208, 209, 220, 221, etc.) Some items didn't correspond to their numbers either. Ex. #[redacted] was listed as a "Bedframe" and was a box of clothes. OSM didn't pick up when I called.

Our delivery man was hardworking, but he did drop a couple of items and we made notes together to ensure OSM would reimburse us. He also pointed out furniture that had been damaged in transit before taking it off the truck so we wouldn't mistakingly hold him accountable.

My wife and I took photos of all the damaged items, and know of a large bag full of hundreds, if not thousands of dollars worth of clothes, and some boxes that weren't delivered containing valuable antiques.

OSM is not responding to phone messages or emails, and their "24/7 customer service" line is in a language other than english and one I don't speak.Desired Settlement: Out of State Movers needs to replace or repair our damaged goods. They need to go above and beyond the contractual agreement of $0.60 to the pound for damaged items due to their utter lack of empathy for a family they have wronged and their embarrassingly unprofessional actions.

They need to send us the items they did not deliver.

They need to profusely apologize for their wrong-doings and dishonesty.

Customer Name: [redacted] Case #[redacted] Thank you for the opportunity to respond to this Complaint. Out of States Movers are experience and professional Moving company. We have rules and regulations that we have to follow by law. I’ve took the time to read once again the customer reasons for this complains. The price of the estimate was based on a simple phone conversation with e-mail communication the client gave us a detailed inventory list. The price is something that is pre-set before the actual job start, not at the end of the job. Therefore we offered an estimated 341 c/f @$3.25 (base on that inventory) it is at the beginning of the job that all the documents are agreed and, singed. The entire document indicates the same (time, date, price). The Forman explained to the client that the price will change if she decides to add more item to the list. This is why the price was given and, agreed before loading the truck. During the process the Forman once again explained the total cost to the client and, the Client still decided to go ahead with the move. The USDOT rules and regulations are very specific, the law must protect all the parties involved. The law requires from the carrier to provided a walk through the house/apartment to determine if the inventory that we suppose to move is the same. If for any reason is not! The following must be done: Void the first estimate and give a new binding price with everything included (gas, mileage, tolls, labor, packing supplies, stairs, travel time etc.,) If the customer agrees, we do the job, if the customer doesn’t, we just walk away. [redacted] decided to go ahead with the new price and the move. Regarding the Insurance, we are a Moving company that follows the DOT regulations. The customer chose the .60 cents per article which is the basic liability insurance provided by law. ( Customer signed) If there is a need to file any claim for lost or damages, please contact our claims department to file a claim. Anthems Claim Management@###-###-####. In regards to the delivery time, Out of States Movers do the best to satisfy all our customers. However we do have 14 Business days from the requested date to delivery. I do hope this explains all the questions. Please feel free to contact for further info. Sincerely, [redacted] ###-###-####

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[redacted] If your company, as you claim, is "experience and professional" than you would have addressed more of the issues I brought to light. First off, I am a HE ([redacted]), not a SHE. I'd think you would have remembered that from our conversations before you started rejecting my calls. Second, regardless of the fact that your company underestimated our move by 62% (the percentage you chose to ignore in your response), you also chose to ignore the fact that your "experience and professional" company LIED to me about where my household goods were, who had them, and when they would be delivered. As convenient as it must be for you to claim that you follow DOT rules and regulations, and as such, were less responsible for your actions, please choose the higher road and not blame others for your company's mistakes. As you/your company have wronged another human, please have the decency to right that wrong and go above and beyond your contract. (I would imagine that if you were in my place you would expect/demand the same thing.) Man to man.... you and your company need to own up.Sincerely, [redacted]PS. Attached is a picture of a guitar ruined in the move. It's value is over $300, yet based off your response you/your company would give me less that $6 for it... again, please do the right thing.

[redacted], I do not know if you are a man of faith or morals, but if you are, you must know the way you are handling your company's mistakes is wrong. I had hoped that you would make it right, but I feel that you are either too proud or too stubborn to admit that you/your company has "lost" or damaged thousands of dollars of worth of our belongings...at least you refuse to make it right, which is the only honorable thing to do. I have called your office many times, and left many messages asking for our order number which was not written on our paperwork and is required for us to open a claim with Anthem. It seems you are more willing to communicate on this public forum than deal with me as a man on the phone, so please respond to this with our order number and we will let Anthem do their job.Sincerely disappointed, [redacted]

Review: Out of State movers quoted me a price for moving. The day of the move they showed up 5 hrs. late and inflated the moving price to over a $1000.00. We had to move that day and had no choice but to pay what they asked for. when my furniture arrived at its destination, 95% of my furniture was damaged due to poor wrapping. My 40 inch TV screen was smashed. They gave me their insurance company's name and number to file a claim. It turns out that its not an insurance company but a mediator company who claim that OUT OF STATE MOVERS should only give us $130.00. I have pictures & video of the damaged furniture & the receipt at time of delivery stating that the furniture was received with damages.Desired Settlement: Stop the bait & switch of their quoted price, in my case over $1000.00. Replacement or cash refund of my damaged furniture that exceeds over $1000.00

Carlos and Edward were everything you want in a removal business. In and out very fast, but also thorough and professional. I immediately trusted them with all my (some very delicate and expensive) things. Friendly guys too, made the whole what could have been stressful day alot easier. Would recommend to anyone looking to do a long distance move. Thank you Carlos & Edward!

The worst experience of my life. Lies, bad information, new information and more lies is standard operating procedure for this company. As far as price, what ever they quote you, triple it, my quote $2,100 actual amount after they loaded my furniture on truck and had me hostage $5,800. Delivery was due 8/** and didn't show up until 9/*. Property was damaged and missing, hardware and screws to put furniture back together were gone. Good luck getting someone to call you back after delivery to try and resolve issues. I WARNED YOU, DON'T USE THEM.

Review: I. There were damages made during shipping and delivery.

II. The company miscalculated the volume of goods shipped from NJ to FL - therefore significantly overcharged for the service. Actual volume shipped was 336 CB/ft. @ $3.30/CB/ft. - but I was charged for 1000/CB/ft, resulting in a difference of $2191.2 - which I was forced to pay to get my goods unloaded.

I have sent the following email to the person company on 10/*/2015 with pictures and exact volume/box count - but no reply has been received.

Wish did not have to write this email – bur circumstances dictate a speedy action on both of our parts.

I. Starting with the easy one, plse look at file called Damages during move…

A. I am not addressing the fact that boxes clearly marked “This Side Up” were found upside down on the truck – or those marked “FRAGILE” were placed on a bottom of a stack. That said - one can easy see that water damage was caused during the move.

B. A “protected” statue, packed by your professional team was damaged. How do you want to handle this?

C. During delivery, a wall of a new property was damaged. Again, how do you want to handle this?

D. I have not unpack any boxes yet – so cannot comment on condition of other items.

II. Now, to the really big issue; without even taking the “terms of payment” conversation in which you have participated into consideration.

A. When the pick-up team moved some of the boxes already - a statement was made that there is more than the 300 cubic feet covered by the contract.

B. I am an Engineer with many years of practical experience – and as such, when packaging and measuring - I estimated our belonging to be in the range +/- 50 CB/ft.

C. By the time a subsequent comment was made – “estimating” the content to be 1000 CB/ft., more than half of our belonging was on the truck – and I understood that we are being held hostage. A statement that “most people think that they have one third of what they do” – only enforced my feeling.

D. As my comment about possible feedback regarding the payment terms was sharply responded to by “we can take everything of the truck and leave now” – therefore, I did not comment on that CB/ft. estimate.

E. By the end of the loading and 50% payment for 1000 CB/ft., your team left.

So, here we are now. Plse open the file titled Move – Box & Volume count. I have measured each and every box and piece of furniture. Did not even subtract areas such as an empty shelf unit (which was used to store boxes during shipping) – but took the total volume into account. One can clearly see that the total volume picked up and delivered was 336 CB/ft. – a far cry from the 1000 I paid for.

Bottom line, plse read and respond how will your company handle the damages and incorrect charge to make me whole. I will wait for your written response until the EOB this Friday before pursuing actions open to me.

Best Regards, [redacted]Desired Settlement: I. Billing adjuxtment

II. Compensation for damages.

Business

Response:

First we would like to apologize for any inconvenience. Of course we did not intend this to happen. We, like all the other moving companies have the same Insurance policy for any Damages done during the move, and we would like you to start the process if there is any lost and damages.Regarding the cubic feet issue, we except any challenges on the day of the move when our foremen and crew are present. Or with witnesses. In our paper work indicates that the customer did know about the cubic feet, the price, list of items added....etc., with the acknowledge of these changes, our customer wishes to continue with the move and told our foremen to continue with the move after agreeing and signing the contract. Yes, we did offered to not go ahead with the move if the customer did not agree. After all this is a service we provide only if the price is excepted by our clients. We respect all our clients, and we respect [redacted] as an Engineer. So, We would like to ask this question... Why didn't you measure the list of items when the foremen was there on the day of, or before you call in for an estimate. Instead you chose to challenge us after the move. And why did you [redacted] agreed on the price , and signed the paper work. How can we know you measure all the items you took, and not measure half of your move only.thank you for the opportunity to respond.Sincerely,Out of State Movers.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

I. The statements regarding

cubic feet is misleading and incorrect. The exact number and size of each and

every box and other pieces has been submitted to the company within days of

delivery and is part of the original complaint - which has not been responded

to until now. The response stating that I am purposely discounting the

number and sizes delivered is erroneous and insulting. In addition – the number

of boxes and other pieces has been documented by the foreman and is a matter of

record of which the company & myself have a record. II. Damages (most, but not all – as some were discovered only when

belongings were unpacked) were noted of delivery documents signed by me. So far

- insurance issue has been NOT been addressed by the company at

all.

Hello my name is [redacted]

This was my first respond to [redacted] on November ** 2013 "we did had a few conversation with [redacted] about the missing items we asked numerous times to get a list of what is missing because based on our records/inventories nothing is missing but only a plastic laundry basket we also offered [redacted] our claim management contact information to file a claim with a detailed description of the missing items Until this time we didn't got any inventory or description of the missing items

And even now December ** 2013 [redacted] did not contact us or our claim management in regard of anything ....

This is not a deadlock situation

Just is a simple process to file a legal claim indicating the missing items.

Look at the dates that I have submitted this response and see that we did offered [redacted] the information for the insurance to recover the items

Once again please contact our claims department and I'm sure we can resolve this case ASAP Claim management [redacted]

Carlos was our main driver, and he was very helpful in explaining the companies policies. He and [redacted] were very quick, but careful while packing our possessions. They were both very nice, and pleasant to work with. We would use this company again.

Couldn't be happier with this company. Terrific terrific terrific.

Review: I had to move my son from NYC to Florida, so I looked online and hired this company because they seemed reputable and offered great service. the nightmare started when the movers showed up at my sons NYC apartment. They were rude and unprofessional, they did not take all of his items, forcing us to have to leave about $1000 worth of furniture in the apartment. The price quoted, which I have a quote, went from $990 to $2200, and after we were told we only had to put 50% down, we were forced to give 75% down when the movers arrived at the apartment. This was very difficult to do when you are dealing with young kids on a budget, and did not take all the items you were suppose to take.

The worst part was when I called [redacted], the rep at the company I was dealing with and he said to me “you are no longer my client, I only deal with your son now”. I am the one paying for the service and who he was dealing with all along, [redacted] hung up on me. the credibility at that point dropped to the floor. I have worked in sales and customer service all my life and the one thing I have learned is that no matter what happens, “the customer is always right”.

Then the experience goes from bad to a catastrophe. After we were promised we would get our delivery on October [redacted], which is what your confirmation said. We spoke with a [redacted], one of the movers, who then told us we would not get our furniture for an additional week, forcing everyone to sleep on the floor for one week without any furniture or clothing in the entire apartment. This was horrible! We had interviews missed because we had no clothing and the expenses occurred from this where extensive.

Once the movers arrived to Florida, they would not go thru the gates to the apartment, even after the apartment manager said they could get thru, this was something that should have been discussed with us that wasn’t. So the movers left all the furniture on the side of the road in the entrance of the apartment complex. We took several pictures of this . The only ultimatum given was that they could pay an additional $400 to have items moved to a smaller truck. Also all the boxes were not in shipment dropped on the side of the road! there were items missing.

when the movers left all the items on the side of the road. I was forced to go rent a truck and help them get everything into the 4th floor apartment and in the process hurting my

back.Desired Settlement: this move ended up costing us over $5000, I was quoted $990. I want to be reimbursed for all my additional expenses and I want you to be aware that this moving company is a scam. I have all the emails and quotes from them if needed. I hope this does not happen to anyone else.

Response:

Yes, I am asking for a refund for services not provided. I paid $2200 for a move from New York City to Florida in which what was offered in contract was not what was given. I was given an invoice for $990 for the move, when the movers arrived they did not take all the items from the apartment in NYC that were suppose to be moved, they left half the items in the apartment. After the movers had everything in the truck they said that the cost for the move would now be $2200 instead of the $990 stated on the invoice. they said we had to give 75% of the money at that time and the rest when they arrived in FLorida. so we were forced to pay $1700 at that time. when I called the office to complain, they said I had no choice. then I was promised the furniture would be in FLorida on October [redacted], which was the day after we moved into new apartment in FLorida and when we called to see when truck would arrive, they said in one more week. they ended up arriving on Monday October **. when they arrived they said they could not get thru the gates of the apartment complex, after the office mgr from the apartment complex said they could get in fine. so the movers left all the furniture on the side of the busy road outside of the apartment complex. I have pictures, the only thing they offered was that for more money they could transfer it to another truck that could get thru gate. none of this was never disclosed at the beginning. we paid the remaining $500 in cash to the movers and they left all the furniture on the side of the road. I was forced to go to home depot , rent a truck and move all the items to the 4th floor of the new Florida apartment.

this is why I am requesting a refund.

Response:

Hello my name is [redacted]

Unfortunately I'm not able to respond to this complain due to the fact that [redacted] is not the actual customer respectfully im saying that she is only a contact person that called the office to give an inventory list and to provide an address.

I don't think that is fair to my customer (her son) that I will provide details/information in regard of his relocation

[redacted] didn't pay a penny or didn't signed any documentation she wasn't even in New York state ... she was in Florida the whole time (before during and after the move) ...

I can honestly say that at the day of the move her son was explained the terms and conditions also he was explained the cost of the move and he specifically said "do not pay attention to my mother I'm paying for my move she just want to control everything"

I'm asking from the Revdex.com to dismissed this complain only for the fact that this person is not legally owner of the contract she is only a contact person.

I do believe that if there is any room to complain it must comes from the actual customer

Sincerely

Review: I spoke with Noa and booked a small one bedroom move to Florida. I asked Noa if Out of State Movers was a broker and said told me no. She said they do their own driving and use their own trucks. I detailed to Noa all the items I planned on shipping because she said they have a 200 cf minimum. She assured me the amount of items I needed to have shipped would be covered under their minimum. She quoted me a price of $950 for the entire job including packing and materials. When I received the contract via email, I noticed they were charging $4.75 (other movers charge $3.25) per cf extra for going over the minimum. This concerned me and I called Noa and spoke with her. I went over all my items expressing to Noa that I have concerns that my items would be more than the minimum she quoted me, but she reassured me that I would be under the 200cf. I arrange to have the items picked up, shipped and delivered to Florida preferably on Friday 8/**/2015 and definitely no later than Saturday, 8/**/2015. I was told by Noa the items would delivered by the date promised.

The items were picked up by a crew of 3 led by Carlos on Saturday 8/**/2015 around noon. First before any thing was done, he looked at the items I needed to be shipped and he told me the items would be way more that the minimum of 200 cf. He gave me a rough estimate of an additional 100 cf ($475) needed on the truck to ship my items. So instead of a $950 total for moving it will now cost me $1425.00. After signing the paperwork, Carlos wanted me to include a 15% gratuity. I rightfully refused and told him I would add on a tip to the contract at the proper time and after the items were all loaded. I explained to Carlos the need to have the items delivered by 8/** and he promised me it won't be a problem. He also told me that a Saturday delivery would not be a problem if they couldn't deliver the items by Friday afternoon. He even told me they would deliver on Sunday if need be which would be the absolute latest. I asked him if he has made the trip to Florida before and if he was looking forward to going now. He told me he was....lies, lies, lies. I asked him when HE was leaving with HIS truck and he told me Wednesday morning. I asked him if that will give him enough time to get to Florida for the promised delivery and he told me YES. He informed me he would call the day before delivery and make arrangements. I added $100 as a gratuity to the contract because according to Carlos they do not accept cash. Total for the move......$1525.00, a far cry from the original quioted price. The truck was loaded up and off they went.

Fast forward to Thursday of that week. We were expecting a call from Carlos to tell us the items were ready to be delivered. There was no call. I called my son who was in Florida and going to take delivery of the items. I gave him Carlos' cell number and low and behold Carlos is not the driver of the truck. In fact, none of the crew who packed up the items make the trip to Florida. Carlos, gave my son the contact number of the driver. My son called the driver and he was told the truck first left New York on FRIDAY, far from the promised day of Wednesday morning. As it turned out, the truck didn't arrive in Florida until Monday evening. My son had to take time away from his law studies to take delivery of his items which we were promised he would not have to do. However, more problems arose. It seems that Out of State Movers does not do out of state moving. How ironic is that? They use another moving company to do their out of state bookings. So after Carlos and his gang left my house with the items to be shipped, they eventually drove to Brooklyn to unload their truck and load the items on another truck the size of Texas. Eventually, it was this humongous truck that took the items to Florida. Different driver, different crew, different truck and a different company from Carlos and Out of State Movers. The company that did deliver the items is Western Freightways. The driver of the truck informed my son that he and his partner do not work for Out of State Movers and are independent from them. So much for Noa and her lie to me that Out of State Movers are not brokers. In fact, that is exactly what they are when items need to be shipped interstate.

The last problem arose when the driver informed my son the truck they are driving would not make the turn into a residential area. In fact, this truck is so large (I have pictures to prove it) they would have a hard time negotiating any residential road! They had to park the truck on a main road. The driver asked for an addition $100 to hand carry the items from the main street where the truck was parked to my son's apartment. Otherwise, they would have to rent a smaller truck to bring the items closer. I wired my son $100 so he would be able to pay the driver and his helper. The total cost of my move.....$1625.00!! In my opinion, they are a bunch of thieves and should be thrown in jail for their actions.Desired Settlement: What I would like is $300 in restitution. I think that is a fair and reasonable request. Considering the other movers I was in contact with were charging me about $1200, I think restitution of $300 is fair.

Response:

We are deeply sorry for any inconvenience. Yes we gave [redacted] and estimate by phone. By law the foreman must perform a walk through before any Job. Of course the price will change if more space is needed. The price per cubic feet stayed the same. [redacted] knew, and agreed on the day of the move with the new binding price just like the information about Trailer access. [redacted] signed and agreed with the contract before we even started the Job. Yes, [redacted] did ask to have the delivery on the weekend like that his Son wouldn't have to take off from his study. We supported that decision but, we did not promise any delivery date. We did tried our best to make it possible for [redacted] like any of our customers. Due to weather conditions; traffic delays; accidents, etc... [redacted] did not mention that weekend he wanted the delivery make was the weekend HURRICANE ERIKA visited Florida. The trailer was on time, and arrived to Georgia on Saturday like we expected but, because of the warnings of high wind, flood, from hurricane Erika the Trailers did not want to take any chances to proceed their route down to Florida. The drivers did not want to bring potential damages to the trailer, or damage the goods inside the trailer, or risking being stuck on a flooded high way. This information was given to [redacted] few days before for him and his son to be prepare and plan. How ever, we did deliver to [redacted]'s Son not on the weekend but, the next day (Monday). We also managed to deliver on the time that [redacted] wanted which is... after 6pm. Regarding the Interstate Moves, YES we have license to do interstate moves. How ever, when the season get too busy we do rely on our affiliated company to fulfill all our customer's demands, such as [redacted]'s.Under these unforeseen circumstances of the weather patterns, we again apologize for your unfortunate experience.?

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

Here is my Response to their reply:My initial contact to Noa was on 8/**/15. We spoke at length about my upcoming small move and the need to have the belongings delivered to Florida no later than 8/**/15. After discussing costs, we agreed to have a truck come to the house on Thursday, 8/**/15. I explained to Noa the importance and imperativeness of the agreed delivery and I was assured it would not be a problem. My son was already in his apartment a week without any furnishings and a bed and just enough clothes for a day or so. He is also attending graduate school there and would be unable to take off from classes and his studies to receive his belongings after Sunday 8/30/15. All this was explained to Noa and she ASSURED me this would not be a problem. I get a call back from Noa and was informed that the truck she promised me for the Thursday pick up was not available and told me she had a truck that could come by Saturday. Again, I told her the importance of the following Friday or Saturday delivery and again she ASSURED me it would not be a problem. The truck came on Saturday. The "foreman's" name is Carlos. Carlos gave me every indication that he would be the one driving to Florida in the truck they drove to my house. He also told me that they would be leaving the New York area on Wednesday morning. Not so. He lied to me. He knew very well that they were only acting as a "middle man" and had no intention of delivering my things to Florida. In fact, he knew very well that the truck and different company that eventually did deliver my things would not be leaving New York until Friday. He even knew that the truck that would be making the delivery would be too big to make it through normal residential streets and also knew it would cost more money. Carlos knew the importance of making good on their promises to deliver on time. But he and his company will do and say anything to get your things packed up because once they are on the truck you are at their mercy. "All the information was not keep from [redacted]". In fact, yes it was. All information was not divulged to me. Had I known ahead of time that that they would not be leaving NY until Friday, I would have gone with a different company. I was lied to."[redacted] preferred to have the delivery on weekends so his son wouldn't have to take a day off. As always, we explained this to [redacted] that we can only do the best we can to accommodate but, we did not promise him any delivery date." Originally we agreed upon Friday, 8/**/15, as our delivery date. I was promised that they would do everything possible to get the things there by that date. More lies."Besides [redacted] signed and agreed by law we can take up to 14 business days for delivery. How ever, we did delivered to [redacted]'s Son on Monday instead of Saturday or Sunday due to HURRICANE ERIKA down in Florida." Fact. I personally never signed anything! Fact. The national weather service categorized Erica as a Class one hurricane when it was still out in the middle of the Atlantic ocean several days before it was to make landfall. By the time it reached land it was downgraded several time to a Tropical wave.....less than a tropical depression. It was nothing more than a storm with mild wind and rain. A far cry from a hurricane. Besides, had the truck left when we were told it was going to leave on Wednesday morning, 8/**/15, Erica would have been a moot point as they would have arrived two days prior to her making landfall regardless of what class she was categorized. Again....more lies by this company."[redacted]'s calls was not made with in hours of operation; calls to our office worker's personal phone; [redacted] hung up, and refuse to work with the only person who can give him direct information from A to Z". Fact. Both Noa and Carlos gave me their mobile numbers and told me to call them if I had problems. Noa even told me I could text her. When I was informed by my son that the driver of the truck (not Carlos and not Out of State Movers) could not make delivery by the promised time, Friday, Saturday or even Sunday, I called Noa. She did not answer. When problems arose the following day on Monday, when the truck was finally in Florida but couldn't make it into the complex because it was way to big for normal residential streets, I again text and called Noa with no response. I then made phone calls to the business directly on Tuesday and Wednesday leaving messages and wanting to speak with Noa, but she never returned any of my calls. The person who eventually called me back was uninformed and a business puppet. I asked specifically to talk to Noa since she was the person with whom I dealt with the most but I was blown off.I want a total of $300 in restitution. $100 for reimbursement of the extra money spent to have the belonging hand delivered to my sons apartment because the truck was too big. Another $100 for the tip which I was coerced to give Carlos and his gang of thieves. They should GET NOTHING! And lastly, another $100 for my aggravation and having my son take time away from his studies on Monday to take delivery of his items. I think $300 is a fair and reasonable amount for restitution. Right now they are lucky I feel this way as I may pursue legal and punitive damages in small claims court. Thank you for this opportunity to explain my side of the story.[redacted]
