Pet's Best Insurance Services Reviews (%countItem)

Claim process is Misleading. Very poor customer service. The claim process has been the worst experience. Even with all the documents and photos that I submitted, they come up with excuses after excuses to complete $57.45 claim. Customer service doesn't respond, I tried 3 times contacting them and I still cant get answers. Waiting over 9 weeks is ridiculous.

Hi ***, we understand your frustration. Some claims require medical records for accuracy. Without these records we are unable to process the claim and it delays the process. Additionally, we are currently experiencing high claims volume and ask that you allow additional time for claims to be processed. We are working on getting back to our low claim processing time and appreciate your patience. We will contact you once the claims are done processing. Have a good day.

I've always had a positive experience with Pets Best.
The customer service has always been quick and pleasant and I'm happy with my coverage.

I signed up for Pets Best insurance as it was advertised through my company. I have taken my dog in for two vet visits and have submitted claims for both. It has been over a month since I submitted my claims. I contacted the business several times and again on November 8, 2019. I was told that my claim was being processed and I would have an answer in 14 days or less. I contacted them again today and was now told it is going to be two more weeks (55 days from the date the claim is submitted). I paid good money for this insurance policy and am getting the run around from this company. When I tried to call the 800 number, I got voicemail. The only way I can contact these people is through online chatting which I find to be totally unprofessional. I am getting tired of constantly being told they need more time.

We are sorry to hear you have not had the greatest experience with your Pets Best Insurance policy. In processing your claim, additional records were needed. These were obtained on 11/15/19. Unfortunately, claims are processed in the order received and it is not possible to determine whether additional medical records will be necessary until the claim is processed. While we are unable to offer returns for dates your policy has been in effect, we have cancelled your policy as requested and you will be issued a prorated refund as a result.

we recently moved to the US from another country. Took out cat insurance for our cat - took one of the most expensive policies so the only thing that wouldn’t be covered were pre-existing conditions and routine checks. Our claim was denied because “Additional information was required to process this claim. After numerous requests, we were unable to obtain records from your veterinarian. Your claim
can be reviewed upon resubmission of the claim with required medical records.” My issue with this is that we were not once contacted by Petsbest. I reached out to them on a chat since it took a long time for my claim to be processed. They said they needed my to send as much information about my cat’s medical history (which was in another country up til now) so I dud and sent them everything immediately via email. I never got a reply and asked them for an update a couple of weeks later and they said they were sorry for the delay and will get back to me ASAP - which they didnt, I just got this denial. What is really wrong is that they send the denial THE DAY AFTER they took my payment for the next month, which seems really wrong. I also feel that they should not trick people into buying insurance and AFTER paying for several months telling them it could be an option that they cannot insure their pet. This should be checked or confirmed before having people pay. So I have not ONCE been contacted by Petsbest but they do denial my claim because they tried contacting us numerous times? It is impossible that they tried to reach our vet since they do not have her contact info. FYI Our cat was 1000% healthy before taking out the policy which makes this even more frustrating. I’ve read multiple reviews like this and feel that they should be investigated.

We are sorry your experience wasn’t as satisfactory as you expected. It appears we needed exam notes from the veterinarian in Belgium and from the ***. Our policy states in Section 6(B): “If you cannot (or refuse) to disclose a complete medical history for your Pet when requested, we may deny your claim(s).” However, you still have the option to submit the missing records and review this claim for coverage. Unfortunately, state regulations do not permit refunds of insurance policies. As noted, if you can obtain the missing medical records (exam notes, patient history reports, lab or diagnostics findings, etc.), you may submit those and your claim will be reopened.

PetsBest is insurance for your pets and my 2 tear old male cat, Kellen, is insured under them and has been since April 2019. I submitted a claim on 10/10/2019 that is still pending and it keeps getting put off due to high volume if new claims. I have been told it would be another 5 days, then 10 days and now 45 days. The advertisement for claim processing states 5 to 10 business days but I was informed that is only for routine claims and it takes 30 to 45 days for medical claims, after the fact. I contacted ins to follow up on status and found they needed copies of medical records but never asked me for them and they were to have contacted the vet at Cat Hospital in Towson Maryland but the office told me they were never contacted sobtheybemailed me all of his medical records, that I too had, and I emailed to the claims dept at ins co for review. It is my understanding they have not reviewed as of yet and it's been approx 12 days and they have informed me I still have time since it's under the 45 days processing date. Any complaints reported about PetsBest all deal with the amt of time for completing claims. You hear the same message every time you contact them. They have an overwhelming if new claims to go through and they take them in order but they xant tell me how many are ahead of me or what date of claims they are working on. They dont keep track of that information. WHAT?

Pet's Best Insurance Services Response • Nov 14, 2019

We apologize for the delay in the outcome of your claim. After we received the claim, it was reviewed in the order received. That review showed a serious condition that required a review of the pet’s medical records. We sent a request for records on 10/29/19 to the clinic’s fax number, which was not working or rejected the incoming fax at that time. We contacted the clinic on 10/30 to verbally request records and they were received on 10/31. Claims are processed in the order received. However, this can be delayed when the claim is reviewed in the order received, but additional records are needed to determine the outcome of the claim. Records are then requested and the claim is processed in order based on the date the medical records are received. Medical records do appear to be complete at this time and the claim is awaiting review in the order received. We do apologize for this delay and understand the frustration.

I am rejecting this response because: I emailed copies of my cats medical records on Oct 30 and my vets office advised they never received a request for those records. Plus if they confirmed they were received on 10/30 why request them again. Also, the claimis for tests done to confirm and verify the seriousness of his office visit results. The ran additional tests for stafe 2 kidney disease because the its unusual to see this in a cat at 2 years old. The results of the tests and xrays came back negative. This should not have caused a delay. I called 2 days ago and spoke with a manager who said she would expedite this claim and still nothing. In
13 more days it will be 45 days for this claim. Unacceptable since they advertise fast claim service and mention nothing about additional time when medical records are needed. They are advertising falsely and if you read the negative comments for PetsBest they are all for delays in processing claims. 45 plus days for some of them. The comment site is ***. The company is giving the runaround to customers and they have no tracking system to tell you how many claims they have received, what the dates are when received and where the customers claim is the process. I have been given three different time frames for completion of my claim. And they keep giving the same excuse and apologize for the inconvenience. I dont want an apology. I want my claim settled and in the time frame promised on their website. What did they do pull my claim out of the order it was in and start all over again because they needed additional information to make sure this was not a preexisting condition? I explained the visit was for additional tests not a medical claimand was told they understand that but because they were tests it is considered medical and not office visit but it was the office visit that made the tests needed. My cat luckily has no medical condition. Therefore, it should not take as long as one for a medical condition.

I purchased a health insurance policy for my pet. When she had an injury, I filed a claim to get reimbursed for the prescription which was covered under my policy. They denied it because they stated that the injury had a 14 day grace period from the effective start date. I looked at my policy and it clearly states that there is a 3 day grace period for an injury. I called and asked them what was going on, they gave me the run around of course trying to get out of honoring their policy. My dog had injured her leg and was being given pain medicine to help with the recovery. They wouldn't cover the prescription. This is nothing other than insurance scam/fraud!!!!!!!!

Unfortunately, no coverage is available for this claim as the onset of symptoms was within the waiting period outlined in both the application and policy documents. The injury this pet suffered has a specified waiting period of 6 months from the start of the policy. Because this injury occurred prior to the end of the mandatory waiting period, the condition was not covered. Further, as these documents note, prescription coverage is available only for covered conditions. Since the injury was specifically excluded, prescriptions for this injury are likewise excluded.

I am rejecting this response because: The injury to her leg was from landing on it wrong. It was not a crucial torn ligament, because if that was the case, she would have needed surgery on it. She had torn her ligament in her other rear leg back last winter. I know what that is and could accept the result. As this was an injury and didn't require surgery to repair the ligament, it was treated with medication and is now perfectly fine. That is why I'm disputing this case, and was looking for reimbursement for the prescription medications as stated in your policy for injuries of a 3 day grace period. That is why I am calling this fraudulent insurance and a case of scam!!!

Sincerely

I am rejecting this response because:

I was never given an option for an appeal. The lady I talked to told me that was their decision and that was the end of it. I was upset with their lack of caring about this situation that I no longer wanted to be a part of them. I felt like all they were concerned about were my monthly payments without any consideration for their customer. It was an injury to my pets leg, which is a 3 day grace period, and they were not interested in paying out a claim.
