Pet's Best Insurance Services Reviews (%countItem)

I submitted a few claims for both of my dogs. None of the claims were outside of what the policy covers. As I got closer to reaching my $500 deductable for each dog they started deny my claims saying that they couldn't get in touch with a vet that I had send my dog to, which I never sent that dog to. I told them I hadn't taken him to the vet they claimed I did and they never got back to me. I then reached out over 4 times asking to cancel my insurance via chat and email and they have never returned my emails or called me.

Pet's Best Insurance Services Response • Mar 06, 2020

Hi ***, there are only two claims closed, not denied, for lack of medical records. We contacted you by email and phone to let you know we are missing medical history dating back to 5/2018. Once we receive this information, we can reopen claims *** and ***. Per your policy, you agree to provide medical records for claim processing or accept claim denial. Additionally, should you choose to cancel your policy, a full refund of all premiums will not be provided as you carried a service with our company and claims were processed. We will issue a prorated refund of the unearned premium. Let us know if you have other questions.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:I have reached out multiple times to pets best via email and chat to get the claims reopened and they have failed to respond. I have been asking for a refund and to cancel my insurance since December of 2019. I would like a refund for December, January, February, and March.

They failed to return my messages and chats to help resolve my issue when I tried reaching out multiple times.

Sincerely

I'm convinced all these 5 star reviews are fake.

This company has denied all but one claim by trying to say it was a preexisting condition. They will label ANYTHING they can as a preexisting condition just so they won't pay it. They literally told me "A lot of people get denied."

The first claim they denied is because they said that "the vet used the exact same medication to treat a UTI previously so your claim is denied now because he has a stress induced cystitis flair up."

The UTI was treated with an antibiotic and a pain killer. The cystitis a month later was treated with a pain killer so they called it the same. The vet even noted in their medical record the second one was due to stress.

I let that go but I shouldn't have.

A few months later, out of the blue, my same cat got blocked and I had to rush him to the vet.

They found it was just a mucus plug. They flushed it out and had him stay in the hospital for 3 days. They prescribed him Prazosin just in case for when he went home.

PRAZOSIN IS COVERED IN PETS' BESTS OWN LIST OF MEDICATIONS - NO WHERE DOES IT SAY ON YOUR PAPERWORK THAT A NEW MEDICATION WILL BE DENIED FOR BEING RELATED FOR A SUPPOSED PRE-EXISTING CONDITION.*** My cat has never taken this medication before!

This all came to about $1780.

I paid $800 to the vet up front to the do the procedure and the prescription, and the vet filled out a reimbursement form for the balance because THE VET said "He had not be hospitalized before, nor had a plug before so they shouldn't have a problem reimbursing this."

It took over 30 days for any of these claims to be looked at.

LO AND BEHOLD, TODAY, EVERYTHING WAS DENIED. They told me it was a preexisting condition all because it related to the same body part.

Yes.

First they tell me it's because the medication was the same, now they're telling me it's because it's the same body part.

Then they tell me if I want to dispute it, it'll take AN ADDITIONAL 60 DAYS TO BE REVIEWED.

YES, 90 DAYS TO GET A YES OR NO. Meanwhile you're expected to make monthly payments and pay the vet because they will not wait long for their money.

THEIR WEBSITE STRAIGHT UP LIES ABOUT PROCESSING TIMES!

DON'T END UP LIKE ME! I'M POSTING MY REVIEW EVERYWHERE SO PEOPLE CAN SEE. I'VE COMPLETELY WASTED MY TIME AND MONEY ON THIS COMPANY.

Hi ***, medical records are requested for accurate claim processing. If a claim is denied is because your vet clinic submitted information indicating the condition originated prior to enrollment and the end of the waiting periods. You are welcome to file an appeal with supporting documents if you disagree with your trained veterinarian's observations. We are sorry to see you cancelled your policy and wish you the best.

This so call per insurance company is a fraud. They do not process you claim within the quoted time frame. I had to wait over 1 month to receive a response about my reimbursement. They claim it was transferred to my account which was a lie. Never received any reimbursement. This pet insurance company is a complete joke and fraud. A compliant was also filed with the Consumer Financial protection bureau.

Hi ***, we understand your frustration
regarding the delay recently experienced in claims. Your claim and your pet are
important to us. We have experienced an overwhelming amount of growth in our
business that was unexpected and are currently processing more claims than we
anticipated. We are diligently working to get back up to speed, and we
appreciate your business as we work towards that goal. At this time claims may
take up to 25-40 days to process especially if we need medical records. Per your policy, you are to receive a prorated refund of the unearned premium depending on the date the policy was cancelled. Premiums are not going to be refunded to inception of the policy as a service was provided. Have a good day.

My initial claim for vet services was filed on 12/24/19 concerning a bowel obstruction surgery and a cancer diagnosis. Over the course of the next several months, my claims were continually rejected by Pets Best, with them claiming that my vets were not providing them with the requested medical documentation.

I have called my vets and confirmed that all relevant medical documentation was faxed to the appropriate number. I was also told by the Pets Best customer service representatives over the phone, more than once, that they did in fact receive my dog's medical records from my vets.

I have just received yet another claim rejection letter from Pets Best on 3-2-20 stating that they are rejecting my claim for lack of medical records. I have filed a complaint with the California Department of Insurance #*** over this issue. I figured I file a complaint here as well before pursuing legal action.

Hi ***, we understand your concern and empathize with your situation. As discussed on YELP, we need the histopathology report from 4/21/18 and the exam notes from 7/6/18. Per our conversation you indicate you are on the phone with the clinic obtaining this information. Once received, we will be able to finish processing your claim. Have a good day.

Very slow processing time, I submitted a claim for $100 on jan 31 and to date it is still not completed. they keep making excuses about high volume of claims but the reality is that they have no business being in business if they cant handle the bulk of what they are supposed to do which is process claims. I will be cancelling. do yourself a favor skip this terrible insurance its so not work it. Considering its 2020 and everything is automated and electronic there is no reason it should take more than 5 days to process a claim. PISS POOR INSURANCE DONT DO IT!!

In response to the company's response this is not a solution as this is not a new problem this has been an issue for over a year now and they are pretending that this just happened. And they are continuing to process payments for a policy which I cancelled in writing. The customer service is *** poor and they need to close shop and refund me my monies because I have not recieved the promised coverage. This to me is fraud
I have contacted them on multiple occasions to get the same response of how sorry they are and we know you are sorry a real sorry excuse for a business but I will be making sure to make sure that I spread the word and encourage others to cancel and others to go elsewhere. You cant play with people money and I will prove so by making sure they lose all of their customers.

We appreciate your feedback. It takes time for a company to adjust after merging with a very large company such as synchrony. We are working very hard to get back to the regular processing time but its not going to happen overnight.

Customer Response • Mar 09, 2020

Once again all these things should have been taken into account prior to this merger that is well over a year which is not "overnight" just own your shortcomings and be better. Your customers dont deserve excuses thru deserve results.

I have had several insurance providers for my animals over many years. I must say Pets Best is the worst company by far. Over a 1 year term, I have had 5 claims denied and 1 pre-authorization. This is not an emotional rant, each claim had valid reason and diagnosis yet the crooks at Pets Best found a loophole or reason that it was invalid, no reason to appeal, they do not get back to you on those either.

Pets Best is a scam, and after thousands of dollars of bills I can't afford, my pet is the one who is affected at the end of the day.

Hi ***, we understand your concern. For accuracy, we request medical records to determine if a condition is eligible for coverage. When medical records are not received, claims cannot be processed. You are welcome to resubmit with the requested medical records for processing. Have a good day.

STAY AWAY....
