I have had several insurance providers for my animals over many years. I must say Pets Best is the worst company by far. Over a 1 year term, I have had 5 claims denied and 1 pre-authorization. This is not an emotional rant, each claim had valid reason and diagnosis yet the crooks at Pets Best found a loophole or reason that it was invalid, no reason to appeal, they do not get back to you on those either.

Pets Best is a scam, and after thousands of dollars of bills I can't afford, my pet is the one who is affected at the end of the day.

I am a dog trainer in Northern CA. I train and show GSD's. About 1 1/2 years ago I decided that I wanted Pet insurance on two of my dogs and researched several different companies. Pet's Best claimed to have a quick turn around time on reimbursement of claims so I chose them. I did have claim during the first year on 1 dog and in fact it was quick and easy. This year in January I had to make a claim on the 2nd insured dog. I received a message stating that the claim turnaround time was 30 to 40 days. That is entirely unacceptable! I had planned to add a third dog and wellness package to my existing plan however....this isn't going to happen based on my recent experience. If your platform is that you pay claims quickly...I consider this to be a breach of contract when you drag it out. I have recommended this company in the past to several of our customers and unless something changes I will not be doing so anymore. I pay my bill every month on time and expect the reimbursement to be just as timely!!!

I received partial reimbursement and called to find out why I did not receive complete reimbursement. They told me I needed to submit additional information. I submitted that immediately when I got off the phone. I never heard back. On Dec 23 I got an email saying I had to submit an appeal form even though they had all the information.. I submitted that immediately. I have not received reimbursement. When I have called, they tell me it is in process. They will not tell me how long the "process" will take. Their website promotes fast reimbursement "unlike other companies which take several weeks". All I have gotten and all they will say is it is in process. They say they don't have enough people to handle the claims. But that doesn't explain why I haven't been reimbursed in 8 weeks. They are responsible for having enough employees to handle claims from their customers. Mr H the owner-manager, whatever his title, only talks to lawyers so no help there. Everyone I have spoken with tells me the same thing. Employee Brennan told me she was going to disconnect because she couldn't help me. The claim is in process. She doesn't know when they will get to it.

They claim their first priority is fast processing times however they are extremely inconsistent with delivering that promise. They claim their processing time is based on the order they are received and how many claims are happening during that time but this is false information as I have been told a different processing time by four different reps over a three-week span each call saying it will take longer than the last promised time. Run away from Pets Best, or as I like to call them, Pets Worst. They take 4-6 weeks to process claims. They will tell you this is just for the first claim but that is a lie. They must be suffering some sort of financial trouble because they always try to find excuses to delay paying out claims or deny them for no reason. They denied an ear infection claim and they coded it for Intervertebral Disc Disease and not an ear infection. Makes you wonder if they are even making any effort at all to review claims or if they are just phoning it in.

I have had other pet insurance in the past and this one is by far the very very worst pet insurance ever.

I felt as though I did a fair amount of research before deciding on Pets Best for my dog's health insurance and now wish I had found more reviews online before deciding. While PetsBest does a great job of advertising their policies and false claims regarding reimbursement, they don't recognize their inability to keep up with how many claims they receive. This company has been responding to comments and reviews online for months apologizing for how slow claims are being processed... so do something about it.
When I signed up for my policy I was told that my claims would be processed in 14-30 days MAX. I waited over a month (36 days to be exact) for my first claim to be processed and was given really lame excuses about how my vet hadn't sent over my dog's medical records in a timely fashion so they had to restart my wait period. When I spoke to my vet they informed me they had actually sent over her records THREE times and neither the vet nor myself received any confirmation. I'm now, yet again, am waiting up to 50 DAYS for my most recent claim to be processed. This is so completely unacceptable when you are dealing with expensive medical bills. I purchased pet insurance in order to avoid going into debt over vet bills but am due to the lack of competency of this company. While I would like to think PetsBest is just in a season of struggle, I now am realizing this company is a scam. They do a great job taking our expensive monthly payments on time- yet are unable to provide the services they promised when I enrolled and lack any kind of plan to better the operations going into 2020.
