Phoenix Car Rental Reviews (74)

DO NOT RENT from these scammers!!! Trust all the people that are posting here. I wasn't checking before I tried them. OMG, the cars were the worst I have ever seen. I rented two, and had to exchange one. The mileage on these were 180,000-215,000 miles. They should have been scrapped long ago. They must have literally bought garbage from an auction and then put them out for rental. Unpredictable, falling apart, embarrassing, and worst of all unsafe for my family and kids! Things literally broke everyday! They even charged me a cleaning fee! I have multiple pairs of clothes stained from the inside of these vehicles. They haven't been cleaned in the last 10 years. Now I talk to the CC company and they are trying to charge more money. Stay clear, as far away as you can. I cannot believe they are in business still. You have to be kidding me!

I was traveling to Phoenix – as I have several times before. I had a car rental there for two weeks and asked if I could have a total. He said he couldn't give me a total until I turn the car in – nine wired about the negative reviews, he said "I don't give a damn if you rent her or not lady." I simply was asking him what would cause there to be extra fees – he said I had to bring proof that my insurance cover car rental. I said "how would I have known that, nobody told me that over the phone." He failed to explain that when I present my insurance card he calls the insurance company to make sure that I have proof. By the end of the conversation he told me to F off and that he didn't need my business and that they do just fine without me. He talked over me, did not listen to anything I had to say, and said he didn't give a damn about is reviews. We just adopted a child and makes us a family of six – I really needed to be frugal on the car rental, but I am really scared to show up to this place and deal with this guy. It's really sad.

Dear Mr. [redacted],

I am sorry that you received inferior service when you returned your vehicle to our location. We hope you will accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience your party...

experienced when you came back. We know the incident must have been very unpleasant for you. The representative in question will receive special training during the next week so he will be better prepared to serve every customer with the utmost in customer satisfaction. Below is a break-down of your charges for your convenience.

You rented an Impala on January 29"' at 10:48pm for a week. Our normal business hours are between Sam and 6pm. Our normal after-hours rentals occur between 6pm and 10pm. We were technically closed when you landed;however, the manager made a special courtesy In your case In order to get you served that  night. As a result of being served outside the normal business hours, a $40 after-hours service fee was charged and was clear on the face of your rental agreement you signed at the beginning of the rentaI.

In regards to the condition of the vehicle, you signed a yellow "Used Car Rental" agreement at the beginning of the rental as well disclaiming that you are renting ona of our cheapest vehicles and that the vehicle might have minor defects and that you can rent a better quality vehicle at a higher price. You

chose to remain In our cheapest vehicle and drove it over 400 miles during the week constituting good use of the rental. You also kept the vehicle the entire 7 day period. If you would have experienced any safety issues with the vehicle, you could have called our establishment and we would have been more than happy to exchange vehicles for you but you did not call us to inform us of any of these concerns.

When you returned the vehicle, you were given a break-down of all the rental charges. Shuttles back to the airport are done by an independent contractor. If we feel the safety of said contractor is at risk in any capacity, we reserve the right  to  deny a shuttle  back to the airport.  If you would  like further clarification of these charges, feel free to call our office for a deeper explanation. We took an initial deposit of $400 when you rented the vehicle and when you returned,we refunded you the difference of

$93.56.

As a result of your dissatisfaction with our customer service, please accept this gift of 10% off your next rental with us. Hopefully this helps restore your faith in Phoenix Car Rental and our endless pursuit to customer satisfaction.

Please let me know If you need any additional information.

Sincerely,

I am a pastor of a church here in Phoenix Arizona and I went to this company to rent vans for our church - to take a trip to California. I had some questions about the rental contract. I asked him if I could have copies of everything I signed. He said no. I asked for a copy of the contract again and he said no. I asked for a copy of the receipt of transaction and he said no. He cursed at me using very bad language and told me to leave his property because I was asking to many questions about the contract. Other customers where surprised at the owners behavior and videoed his actions. I left the property without having anything to certify he canceled the transaction so I called the bank and my lawyer. Both are surprised at this owners behavior and so I decided to send a report concerning the negative practices of this company. We can not take the trip because, our money is held up with this company who has decided not to communicate. I am simply disappointed. I need your help. ([redacted], Pastor [redacted].

THE worst rental experience I have ever dealt with. I've been in customer service for 11 years and have never experienced people so aweful. But I'd like YOU & your hard earned money to do yourself a favor & turn around before you approach this joke of an industry.. My engine blew out on me 7 weeks ago. I travel for work and a car is essential. My research led me to "believe" it was $189 for a weekly compact rental.. I take a cab arrive to the counter where I'm greeted by an angry man that didn't have the decency to make eye contact. 1st red flag. I told him I had a debit card, he advised I get cash. "Shuttle service" drives me to an atm that only allows $300 withdrawal, I needed $400. I told the shuttle driver I'd give him $10 to drive me one more block to another atm. No can do. Rules, ok. I walked around for a bit contemplating leaving because of how poor my initial interaction was but it was so hot and I just wanted a rental so I could get back to work. So I went forth with putting it on my credit card which I was trying to avoid. The angry man threw my card and license back at me across the counter. We proceeded to rentals available.. Oh..My..God.. Missing parts, scratches, doors pried open, stains, cig burns, dirty despite $13 cleaning fee.. I asked for a compact in my original request, with the $189 "base rate, good faith estimate" because I drive for a living. I was told nothing else was available by the boy and went back in asking if different cars were available at other location and was told no and finally told there's one available, 40 extra a day (makes no sense for a compact) but we will just give it to you.. Perfect since the $189 is what I was quoted on my "base rate, good faith estimate" for a compact vehicle. This car had missing parts on the dash board, shook terribly over 50, 1 door in the back was missing a lock, wires hanging out and so dirty. I brought that thing back cleaner than its seen out of respect. My rental was due at 3 pm and I was there by 3:08. I was hours late returning my hertz rental due to unforeseen events and I've never seen the discrimination towards guests like I've seen on here. They were so understanding and not vindictive or blameful like I've seen these folks being treated. Now for the return!! I'm reading my statement and see it comes to a total of $387.15. What?? I didn't provide proof of insurance. Ok no problem. They said have it there by Monday. Monday comes. I call and ask if I can email a copy of my insurance card to them. No I must deliver it. Really? 2016 folks. I stop working race to staples pay to print my insurance card because mine is in my car, in the SHOP. Not proof of full coverage. So I go BACK to staples pay to have my full coverage printed, on a shared policy with my sister, had geico send me another sheet stating I am an insured driver on the policy as of this date requested. I go through all these hoops and hurdles. This miserable man calls me a liar saying the sheet says I was added to the policy which if he wasn't so incompetent could have read that was clearly not what the paper stated.I told him I would gladly get another letter from geico stating when I was added and when I walked out to call to get proof from geico I was locked out and told there was nothing more I can do. I've never had to provide information so detailed and the letter I brought clearly did not state I was added to the policy today. Whatever "man" that has the capability of screaming at a woman like has no place in society or service industry. I lost hours on my job trying to fulfill these tasks just to screw over another unappreciated guest. They don't care about you they want your money and will do anything necessary to ensure they get it. I was very willing to provide the info requested and was accused of lying and locked out well before they closed. There are plenty reputable, honest, willing to rent you a car for half their total price. Save yourself from this horrible pitiful disgrace of an establishment. They don't care about you and will do anything in their power to take your money.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Regards,

This company added charges AFTER we signed the bill.  Therefore the charges they added were not agreed to by us.  This is fraud.

This company has received a plethora of complaints to the Revdex.com and yet nothing has been done.  They continue to promise free shuttle service, not disclose extra fees and are horribly rude.  THIS IS A CONTINUOUS problem with this company as evidenced on your site.  No, I am not satisfied with the response.  They charged my card without my consent.  They are a shady company that continually rips their customers off.  This is not a resolution.

I tried to reserve a rental car from Phoenix Car Rental. The guy that answered that phone was completely rude. I asked for a quote for a rental car for 4 days. He said that he couldn't give me a quote, because he was too busy. He then hung up the phone. I called back and asked to speak to his manager, but he told me that he didn't have time for my complaint and hung up the phone a second time. I called back and another guy answered the phone. I told him that I would like to reserve two rental cars, and he then transferred me to the first guy. He told me to stop calling and hung up the phone a third time. I called back and different guy answered, he stated that he was the manager. I proceeded to tell him how his employee treated me. The manager stated that he didn't care how his employee treated me and that I obviously gave him a reason to hang up the phone several times. I told him I would be making a Revdex.com complaint. He then stated that he didn't care.

We contacted Phoenix Car rental at 2934 E. McDowell Rd. Phoenix, AZ 85008

and spoke to a "Denis", who is extremely RUDE person, no professional skills or manners.

He was suppose to pick us from the airport to their office to sign the a week rental car. When we called him from the airport, he claimed that he was too busy and if we rent a cab and he will reimburse us . We rented an cab, and went to the rental office. We met "Denis", who decided to increase the quoted price by $50 for no reason, saying, " take it or leave it deal". When we questioned the raise in the quote, he claimed that our insurance, does not show the proper coverage. We called our insurance company, who confirmed that everything was proper and in place. By that time, we have heard from the creature "Denis" all the LOW language words in the English dictionary. The insurance company rep, asked if he can explain to rental car person, the insurance, but at this moment, we have already decided not to rent from that company or that rude creature.. We would NOT at all, recommend this company to anybody.

This business is the most irresponsible, unprofessional, rude bunch of thieves I have ever dealt with in my life.

I called this company to try to save a bit of money on a car rental and the jerk who answered the phone couldn't have been more rude. He quoted me a price and when I commented "that doesn't seem cheaper than Avis and those big places..." and paused to ask for a price for a smaller model and he rudely said, "it is if you include taxes--good luck finding something and HE HUNG UP ON ME!! I am floored that a business would think that they could compete in a SERVICE industry by treating potential employees that way. I am going to make it the main point of my trip to Phoenix to trash this company to everyone who will listen and to all my friends and family in the area. Good luck indeed!

This company does not disclose their "clauses" to their Customers. The "legal" information that they give, is never given. The Vehicles are in EXTREME un-useable condition. Very unprofessional.

If you are thinking of renting here I advise you to turn and run. Worst possible experience I could even imagine let alone live through. Cars are rebuilds that are borderline runnable. Mine had over 200K miles on it. The noises were too numerous to distinguish. The people would rude and deragatory on the phone when I tried to get an explanation of costs after seeing the final charge through my credit card company. The old saying that if the deal sounds too good to be true it probably is. Run for the border as fast as possible!

I was involved in an accident and needed an inexpensive rental car. I went to Phoenix Car Rental because they advertised $129 a week rental. Little did I know that this rental would cost me over $240. Do NOT go here. This place lies, cheats and is the rudest business I have ever been involved with. They charge for everything. They charge 18.55% tax, which I'm going to look into. I gave them $450 deposit for $129 a week rental. I had the car 10 days. They said I still owed them $32. They added on $16.75 a day for liability. I ton them that I had my own liability insurance. They said that didn't matter, that I had paid in cash rather than by credit card. WHAT DIFFERENCE DID THAT MAKE? I still had my own insurance. They said, read the contract! I [redacted] get anyone to read the contract. You can't see it! The fine print is so tiny and so faded you can see it. I was NEVER told about any of these charges either on the phone or in person!! This business needs to be avoided like the plague! Oh, my first car from them had a quarter of a million miles on it. It would stall while driving and the engine light came on. I got a second one which got a flat tire. The spare was shredded and flat and the jack didn't work. I'm going to be looking into any legal options I can find. I spent $481 on a 10 day, $129 rental. They suck! They are also extremely rude, swearing at me and threatening small claims court because I protested the fees! Also, by my calculating, even figuring their ripoff fees I am still owed about $63!

We rented a car for 2 week's through this place via an ad saying no airports tax. We not only got taxed 19 percent, we also ended up we a car with 221,000 miles on it and a transmission that slipped. It was a 6-7 year old car.the advertise new.how ever when you get their the will tell you all the new ones are out and this is what the have leaving you with a older model. With a new car price. Never again, good to rental cars .com.
