PNC Financial Services Group, Inc. Reviews (1843)

Review: Dear PNC,

I was offered a $200 cash promotion for opening a new account under specified criteria. I met the specified criteria. When I did not receive the $200, I went to the bank branch to confirm I met the criteria and ask why I did not receive the $200. I again confirmed I fulfilled the criteria. Then, I spoke to the branch manager. The branch manager again confirmed that I meet the criteria and would send a note to headquarters to resolve the issue. But, no one from headquarters has contacted me. I tried to solve the issue with the lowest level of management but have not gotten the $200.

I request the $200 promised to me.Desired Settlement: I request the $200 promised to me.

Review: I am in the process of selling my vehicle. This process is difficult enough as it is, but unless you would like your bank working against you, get your loan through another financial institution. I have the funds to pay my loan off, my bank and I have provided a variety of methods to submit these funds to PNC, but PNC will accept nothing but a transfer, which they claim will take 10 business days. In case you do not make the connection, that is 2 weeks. Only then, will they release my title to me via regular postage mail, which can take another week to arrive. Though I have explained to the 7 different representatives today (they apparently do not make and/or read the file notations), I am attempting to sell the vehicle, without the title, there is no sale. If the buyer were to decide this is too overly complicated and would not want to wait a month to receive the title, I would face a monumental financial burden, all due to PNC Banks inability to progress into the current century. They have been paid, and have my funds in their possession and are holding the title to my vehicle hostage with no remorse nor validity. If you are considering this institution for any financial transactions, please, unless you truly enjoy being on the telephone frustrated with redundancy, look elsewhere.Desired Settlement: I would like PNC Bank to provide me the title to my vehicle, that I have paid for, that they have in their possession. This is not a "it takes a week to arrive in the mail" situation, PNC Bank is refusing to provide what I have rightfully purchased due to policy they cannot defend or justify. If the sale of my automobile were to crumble due to PNC Bank's negligence, there will be a suit filed against them to cover all accumulated damages.

Review: PNC shared my personal AND financial information with regards to a private banking transaction with [redacted]. which is a direct violation of the privacy policy, FDIC regulations and my phone # is on the do not call registry.[redacted] called my wife to confirm the private financial transaction that PNC sold to them and wanted to ask customer services question. She refused to answer their question so they called my cell number.I refused to answer their unethical questions and they proceeded to harass me. I asked to speak with a supervisor at [redacted] and they refuse to respond to my complaint.I informed PNC of the harassment and asked them to review the recorded conversation from [redacted] and PNC is not responding back to the customer.

I also need a copy from PNC of the FDIC requirements that allow them to sell my personal financial information regarding a transaction to [redacted]. We have informed Mr. [redacted] that we listened to the call that took place with the [redacted] consultant and she should have terminated the call after he voiced his refusal to provide feedback. PNC validated that [redacted] is provided with the client's name, phone number and location of transaction but no specifics regarding the transaction are provided. We apologized for the experience and thanked him for his feedback which gives us the opportunity to improve our process with our service vendor.

Review: Thank you, I have recieved a call and spoke with a specialist and I was explained the same thing that I have been explained to by many representative. I am want to take this higher up and I would like to escalate this unethical practice within PNC bank and also will file a complain with a the Revdex.com. Here is the situation, and please forward this to the higher up.

On the 24th of February, my ending balance was $58.53

On the 25th, an item of $5.40 cleared brought the acct to $53.13

another item cleared of $28 brought the acct to $25.13

then I have 2 pending items of $25 with [redacted] and $43.82 with [redacted] ...I understand those items were pending and posted on the 26th

Here is my formal complain

If I was to have $58.53 in my account. That money was enought to cover the ($5.04 + $25 + $28 =$58.04), leaving the account with $.49

the $43.82 would have overdrawn the account, I am ok with the NSF for this. This is the most unethical practice which I feel need to be addressed and I will file a formal complain to the Revdex.com and must be change. If someone has $58.00, they would be able to spend $5 then $28 then $25 =$58. Why would they get a NSF for the money that they have??? Yes the $43.82 would overdrawn the account and I completely understand. This makes absolutely no senses and I also have been in the finance/banking world for over 10 yrs and this is why I think it is absolutely unethical for a bank to be doing this and make money off their customers in an unethical way. Please forward this to the higher up, I will be following up in a few days. I may be contanted at ###-###-####Desired Settlement: I was charged with 4 NSF fees, absolutely unethical

I want 3 out of 4 fees to be reimbursed and this practice must be stopped. It's almost like a scam.

bank policy must be changed.

Review: We moved from Pennsylvania to Minnesota 5 years ago. For awhile we kept our Pennsylvania checking and banking accounts open. Over a year ago we purchased a second home and withdrew the money from our Pennsylvania accounts. At that time I closed our checking accounts, we had to notify several companies of the closure we did that. I have spent many hours on the phone, filled out paperwork, and still I just received a statement that we owe overdraft charges on an account we closed long ago. The last time I called was April and they are saying we closed then and that a Paypal charge came through after the call and we were charged for it. The account was closed long before April, long before 30 days after the April phone call. I don't know what else to do to close this account and to stop the charges that are accruing exponentially on an account that to me is nonexistent.Desired Settlement: I would like the account closed, and the most recent overdraft charges taken off my name.

Response:

Please allow me to respond to your complaint, filed with the Revdex.com and received on June 24, 2013, regarding your PNC Bank, National Association (“PNC”) checking account ending [redacted]. I appreciate this opportunity to address your concern.

PNC records reflect your account had a $128.49 deficiency ($5.49 in principal and $123.00 in Overdraft Item Fees and Continuous OD Charges). As such, the account was charged off and closed on May 24, 2013. When a charge off occurs, the bank brings the account to a zero balance, assesses a $30.00 charge off fee, then collection efforts begin.

Please be advised that as a courtesy, PNC is waiving the balance due and submitting a request to remove the account from ChexSystems.

Please accept our apology for the frustration you experienced. Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention and giving us an opportunity to assist you. Should you have additional concerns regarding this matter, I may be reached at ###-###-####, extension [redacted], Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. (ET).

Review: I had requested for my accounts to be closed in the early part of July 2015. I called in and spoke to a representative regarding the steps required to close my accounts as I no longer live in [redacted] and there are no PNC branches where I now reside.

In speaking with the representative, she advised that I only need to send $14.12 to close out my accounts and I promptly followed those instructions and received confirmation from PNC that my payment was posted in the amount of $14.12 on 7/7/15.

On 7/14/15, I received another letter from PNC advising that I owe $36.00.

Today 7/23/15, I called PNC to ask what this fee is for as I paid the requested amount to close my accounts and the rep advised this is now a fee for another "loan" account that was not closed as I originally requested.

I re explained to the rep that I requested all of my accounts with PNC to be closed in early July 2015 and do not understand why my requests are not being honored, and if I was told in early July 2015 there was an additional amount owed I would have sent it promptly.

The rep that I spoke to today advised that the account was not closed and that I owe $36 in order to close the acct.

I asked why all of my accounts were not closed as requested and why this amount for this additional account wasn't requested at the time I was advised only to send $14.12 and the rep advised she couldn't advise why but the account is still open and the amount is owed.

All I want is to close my accounts with PNC and be done. I have communicated clearly that I want all of my accounts closed, Asked what is required to close my accounts, and I have followed the instructions provided by PNC and have done my due diligence, why cant they do the same.Desired Settlement: Close all of my accounts and waive the fees that were not disclosed other than the $14.12 I have already provided to PNC to close all of my accounts.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Review: for over a year I have been unsatisfactorily dealing with PNC bank about a car loan. The car was purchased in my husband's name. He is deceased. We have provided PNC with proof of death and documents naming my son as executor. The car needs to be registered in my name. I inherited the entire estate. PNC will not provide me with a copy of the title so that the car can be registered in my name. I have made every payment. They accept my money but will not help me transfer ownership or prove that the car belongs to me so I can register it. I have dealt with two local branches of PNC in Springfield and Media PA. I have dealt with PNC loan offices in Pttsburgh and Michigan. The treatment we(my son as executor and I) have received from PNC has beenterrible. We have sent all necessary documents were sent to Pittsburgh. Now when I call I get transferred to Michigan and they say they do not have the documents. this has been a problem for a year. Every payment is up to date,The service from PNC has been totally unsatisfactory. Please help.Desired Settlement: I need a copy of the title so I can register the car in my name.

Review: PNC BANK is incorrectly charging overdraft fees again . They have been sued for this before. The Customer service rep I spoke to specifically told me that if I don't get charged the over draft fee sometimes then I am lucky. He stated the system may not catch it. So how is it that it is okay to charge me sometimes and not other times? Should I not be charged all the time if I overdraft? this is inconstant. They want to charge people whey they feel like it and that is wrong. [redacted] refused to transfer me to speak to anyone else said hes is the manager. He also refused to refund the fees stated this was not a bank issue. How is not a bank issue if you charged me this time and not last time? They not only charged me one fee but 2. stated they can charge for every single transaction that is negative. so for a 14.00 over draft im now paying 107.00.Desired Settlement: I want a refund for the last 2 overdraft fees I was charged. I never opted in to be on any overdraft protection plan. According to [redacted] he has opted me out. If he has not please do so and refund my last 2 charges. This should no longer occur if I am opted out and the system is updated. I would also like "manager" [redacted] to be better trained in customer service..He should have never raised his voice and he should be very careful in his choice of words. He proved PNC system is faulty.

I never received a response from them. They left a message, during the day, and I explicitly said I cannot answer phone calls between the hours of 8:00AM and 6:30PM. I said any phone calls would have to be after 7:00PM. I returned their call and left a message, to which they never responded. I want to make sure that my account is closed and that I will not receive anymore irritating emails. Furthermore I believe I should be compensated for the time I have wasted due to this long and arduous process and for the sleep I have lost because of their daytime phone calls.

Review: I went to the [redacted] to open a new checking and savings account for my business and personal too. I specifically asked Ms. [redacted] what kind of charges do they have regarding these accounts. She said ABSOLUTELY NOTHING since I will have both, BUT "you will receive $200 for opening a new account" -what I have never seen so far. I opened the accounts and days later the charges have started. When I went in to ask her about these charges, her response was "to avoid these charges just come in and I can print the information for you".I need a bank where I can access my account online without any hidden fees. She also introduced me to [redacted] - lets just say I have never met a more arrogant, dishonest person in my life until now - regarding the merchant account. I wanted to have all my business banking needs at one place, but I was very wrong! After all the charges and not having a Business Debit Card after 45 days I have decided to close the accounts on June 30 and just stay with my current bank. This is when I found out that Mr. [redacted] had me sign a 3 year contract I was NOT aware of and NEVER received a copy of it (I opened the account around May 19,2014 and as of today July 8,2014 still don't have one). I want the accounts closed and just forget about PNC Bank and the experience I had with them, but of course they want to charge to close the accounts. As a small business owner if I would mislead, lie to my customers as I was lied to I wouldn't be in business anymore!Desired Settlement: I would like the accounts closed - specifically the merchant account - without any charges and all the charges that were applied refunded!!!

Review: My mortgage payment has increased & my hometown bank sat in on a call with me. They have taken out taxes in full & 1/2 more. Refuse to correct error. Regarding my mortgage payment which has been sold from [redacted] in Ottawa, KS, to [redacted] Little Rock, AR, now, with PNC Mortgage, [redacted]. My loan number is [redacted] in my name, [redacted]. They have increased my fixed interest rate loan, blaming first time, [redacted]. No, it wasn't that. The next time they blamed my [redacted] KS taxes being needed to be made up from my initial loan from [redacted] here in town. My personal banker said that's absolutely untrue! In fact, my personal banker sat in on a phone call with me, and faxed ALL info to them, explaining that the error on the escrow stmt. had been put in for an entire year, plus 1/2 pmt. more! We asked them for a new escrow analysis, which they claimed they sent out in July, & I never received one. That's also when my banker here & I faxed & called them. They also tell me that my tax stmt. is to be paid in April, which is untrue, it is May 10th and Dec. 20, for half-pmts. My payment has gone from 689.18, from both [redacted] & [redacted], and PNC has raised it to 888.89!!! I am a 59 yr. old widow, I work in a high school, I am completely beside myself with all of this run-around and lies I'm receiving from PNC!!! This financial and emotional stress of trying to get this straightened out is very difficult for me. I should NOT have to call 3-4 times to get them to understand their error. My hometown banker told them what the error was, and they still blame it on my hometown bank where I got the loan. They told me, there's no way they can do that to customers, but according to PNC, that's the story. We even faxed them the COPIES directly from the [redacted] Treasurer's Office, from the past 3 yrs. There was only a slight difference of a few dollars in those 3 years!!! PNC has blamed first [redacted], [redacted]. KS taxes, and now my bank where I obtained my fixed rate loan!!! I finally became so angry on the phone 8/22/14 with their stories and lack of understanding, I told them I would not listen to more of their lies, but would be reporting them to the Revdex.com. I pray that you can PLEASE help me get them to get THEIR errors (and stop the lies), and get my fixed mtg. rate back to where it was, PLEASE!!! I am completely frustrated with them. If you need more information, please email me at the email I provided you!!! Thank you for your time and looking in to this matter!!! Thank You, [redacted]Desired Settlement: I would appreciate them fixing THEIR ERROR on my Real Estate Taxes, quit lying to me, and get my payment back to $689.18!!! They are a difficult company to deal with, and give a different answer every single time I have called them) and I would appreciate if they would also apologize for the lies, for the blame of 3 different businesses for THEIR mistake!!! My next RE taxes are due May 10th,(half), NOT in April as I was told yesterday, 8/21/14!!! I need my payment back to where it was PLEASE!

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. Thank You for looking at my letter. I believe someone found after several times reviewing my escrow, that PNC inherited the mistake that [redacted] made, prior to selling to PNC. It did take several times, but eventually they finally have found the error! My payment still went up a little bit (fixed rate mortgage), but I thank PNC for finally persisting, and finding where the error was made with [redacted]. Many thanks to all who have spent time on this!

Review: Due to a divorce suit, I was forced to sell my house. The escrow check was written out in both my name and the ex-wife, [redacted]. She got a hold of the check and was able to deposit it into PNC BANK and withdraw it with no signatures. I am not a PNC BANK member nor do we have a joint account with her in this bank. I spoke to the manager which in turn directed me to corporate office. They stated that since there was no " AND/OR" between the two names, PNC Banks policy allows them to cash it. When I asked to see this part of their policy, I was told it is company policy and unable to be divulged to the public. No further action was taken to retrieve the money, fraudulantly deposited into their account by their member, [redacted], who resides at [redacted]Desired Settlement: I'd like a copy of the policy stating the " AND/OR" clause allowing either person on the check to cash it without the other's signature or approval. PNC BANK need to review PA laws on fraudulant check cashing. They also need to demand the partial money, paid to thier member on the escrow check, returned for refund to me.

Review: PNC Bank overdrafted my account to collect funds. Then charged 90.00 in fees because the overdraft was nit paid back to the bank within four business days. However I (the consumer) did not overdraft the account. I was informed that the fees were irreversible. In addition, customer service representative was misrepresented to announce to me that the 90.00 funds were transferred to my credit card and infact the monies were taken by PNC Bank. This practice should be unconstitutional if the bank is responsible for the overdraft.Desired Settlement: PNC Bank should return the fee if they are responsible for the overdraft.

PNC Bank, N.A. responded to Ms. [redacted] on August 6, 2015, and considers this matter addressed.

Review: Bank Fees - Account was charged NSF fees due to a timing issue of deposits vs. auto withdraw. Also account was charged additional NSF bank fees after a deposit was made to cover the balance in the account plus additional auto withdrawals. But because of the fees already charged it left the account in a negative status so basically we were charged NSF Fees for NSF Fees. The Bank Branch and 1800 customer service would not help with the account. They both said that they had a tool to go by which would not let them adjust the bank fees. And the Branch Manager said that there is no way to override the system and that there is no one else to talk with. A computer tool should not be used to judge peoples bank accounts and whether or not they should or should not be entitled to a refund of fees.Desired Settlement: Refund for 8 out of 10 fees from July and August: $36 x 8 = $288.00

Review: Helloas a small business customer of PNC bank, I am appalled at their deceptive international exchange rates used & no explanation given. As a consumer, I deserve a right to know what calculations are being used & why market exchange rates are not used. I have tried for several months to get some concrete answers This has cost my business approx. $3500 in bank fees due to proprietary PNC rates used my two transactions that happened back in May 2013. The explanation I have so far from [redacted] on 11/15.2013 is that "any wire transaction under 10 million USD is subject to retail exchange rates - in other words "PNC" rates. NOT market rates. This can amount to 5% in my case. This is a cost I must absorb. Regarding customer service, [redacted] from the escalation group told me a letter was sent out, but I have not received anything. **week of 11/ 7/2013 PNC has agreed to re-imburse +/- $ 2300 but not the full amount. I demand the full amount re-imbursed of 3502.40. The problem is that I was unaware of such exchange rate differences and it was not informed about it. Never in 20 years of wire transfers have I ever paid such fees nor have I ever feared such costs would be involvedI demand two things1/ explanation in writing what, why and how exchange rates are calculated and what impact that has on sending wire transfers. For example, why are you not using market rate exchange rates? 2/ full refund of the 5% surcharge as a result of a deviant exchange rate used. THis amounts to $3505.42Furthermore, I asked for an explanation in writing and I was told by two representatives on 11/15/2013 that they could not provide anything in writing. On 11/13/2013, I was told that a letter was in the mail....customer service is also deceptive in their practicesI appreciate the current attempt at reimbursement, but I demand a the full amountDesired Settlement: refund of 3502.40

Review: I went to the ATM in [redacted] at 8:01am to withdrawal $600 when my ain't balance was over double the requested withdrawal amount before requesting the withdrawal (funds available). Put my pin code in, typed in the requested amount $600, the machine read "please wait, processing your transaction". I could hear the machine counting the cash repeatedly then I received a receipt that read $600 was the withdrawal amount that I received (which I didn't) and the ATM deducted the $600 from my available balance as if it gave me my money, but instead of getting my money the machine only gave me a receipt and read "thank you for choosing pnc". I immediately called customer service whom informed me to wait until 9am to go inside the branch location to have them look at the ATM and resolve the issue. I waited approximately an hour for the branch to open, spoke to a man named Vince whom informed me that nothing could be done until the next business day because the transaction hadn't posted to their system and their internet browser was down at the time. I left there extremely disappointed and without my cash being compensated. I then called customer service again and spoke to someone who called the branch himself, and also transferred me to a specialist team who he said could help me and have them post an immediate refund. After speaking with the specialist she also informed me that I would have to wait until the next day to even file a claim. It is not my fault that their ATM did not Work properly but I'm the one being punished and having my hard earned cash held up without any immediate compensation and also having to invest over 2 hours trying to correct the issue plus needing to go back tomorrow to file a claim. I think the bank should compensate me with my $600 that has been held up and an additional monetary compensation for my time, inconvience, and aggravation of their faulty product.Desired Settlement: I'd like a settlement of $600 returned to me plus an additional $300 in cash.

Review: A deposit was made into this bank on November 4th, 2013 through a branch ATM. PNC Branch ATM's now count your money immediately to verify funds and post them to your account. On that night, I had deposited $700USD into my account and verified immediately after through the banks on-line website that my funds had posted immediately to my account and my available funds now had included the $700 I had just deposited. On November 5th, my account was overdrafted stated a check had come in on November 4th and my deposits were not made until November 5th. This is a malicious attempt by PNC to defraud the consumer considering the deposit was made on the 4th and immediately posted to the account. My account has now been assessed a $36 Overdraft fee that I believe is not only unwarranted but PNC attempt to defraud the consumer by assessing the fee.Desired Settlement: Refund the $36 fee that was assessed to the account.

[redacted] has reached out to the customner to discuss the issue.

I have had an account with PNC since 2006 with a free checking account. I didn't have any problems with them until around last August, since then it seems like every month there is a new issue. The most recent and reason I believe it is time to do my banking elsewhere is I have started being charged for my checking account. I was never notified that my account was being changed from "free" to "standard". A standard account comes with a monthly charge if the customer doesn't abide by their guidelines. When I called after noticing a strange charge I went trough three representatives who could give me any real information about the change, a date that it should have been mailed or the address it was mailed to (I had to go to a branch location multiple times to change my address after moving from one state to another because they could not seem to change it after requesting that it be changed multiple times) the last representative I spoke to referred to the notice that was mailed to me as "junk mail" and told me I probably threw it away. This is theft by deception and should be illegal. PNC should not be able to access and remove my money from my account without my permission or signed consent. I am unable to do anything with my own account without jumping through hoops but they are able to change my account without my knowledge? I am very unhappy with PNC and the way this representative treated me today. I can only guess how many other people have had their checking account changed and charged without their knowledge. Beware!
