Dan was professional, friendly and knowledgeable. He was very helpful and did an excellent job with the consultation and installation.

Beware of this scheme! I thought the installation fee & $850 credit with the visa gift card ADT advertised was going to be a great deal for me being a first time home buyer but needless to say this experience has been far from great. Defenders is a partner company that ADT uses to install equipment so I learned. Once the service tech came in my home he installed some window alarms, a smoke detector & the monitor he said I owed $808 in total for the equipment! I asked what did my $850 credit go towards & he said I had 12 windows in my house & they only covered a certain amount so I was paying the difference on the alarms. I was in shock & payed because I assumed he was telling the truth & he had already installed everything. I did ask him twice about what all came with my deal & he kept saying let me install your equipment & then I will show you the breakdown. He finally finished
& then started showing me how the 'so called deal worked'. ALL LIES!!! I couldn't sleep well knowing I had just payed for some *** so I went online & researched the reviews somthing I normally do first. Found out that others had been scammed by the way ADT advertised the deal & Defenders was saying you pay for basically every little thing in the package. I canceled my service the next day & they only let you fax your cancelation paper in by 3 business days & was told I would receive my refund once they came & got the equipment back & it would take up to 10 business days for my installment & first month of service refund of 168.92 & another 2-4 weeks for my $808 dollars!!! I was livid & told customer service that it took DEFENDERS 2 seconds to take my money & now I have to wait almost 30 days for my money to come back to me & you have your equipment back NOT DAMAGED!!! Defenders sent me no email confirming my refund process so I had to call & they said I would have to reference back to ADT for my refund email they sent me. This company is the worst as well as ADT for the roll they play in this & I just want to WARN others about them & how their scheme works! STAY AWAY!!!!!

Extremely misleading. They are not the same company as ADT, they charge outrageous installation fees and use outdated and overpriced equipment.

I recently called ADT to install security in my mother's home. Wayne was our technician. He was absolutely thorough and did a great job with the installation, explaining it to us and was very professional to work with. He came up with the best plan for my moms home with the most efficient cost. My brother and mom and I were very pleased!!

I'm unhappy with your shady sales tactics. Your salesperson/technician Taylor E. told me I had 6 months of free trial and if I wanted to cancel I would get all my money back including installation with no strings attached. When it was time to sign papers I saw the "3 day cancellation" so I was reluctant to sign. He assured me that was only one way to cancel to get my money back quicker, but I will still be able to get a full cancellation before 6 months. He also told me to to do him a favor and wait 2 weeks before I call to request any additional sensors for free, because that's what his other customers did. Well we waited for 2 weeks to call, and when we couldn't get more sensors for free we wanted to cancel and guess what, we can't cancel anymore and we're locked in to the 2 yr contract. Shady business DEFENDERS d/b/a Protect Your Home, you should be ashamed of yourself. Just close down your business already.

Don’t consider or contact Defender Security dealer for ADT. All the literature and phone conversations are totally miss leading. As an example, the $100 gift card they promise is only sent to you after you pay them for shipping and handling. Avoid at all cost.

The technician was great very mannerly extremely knowledgeable with all questions about equipment and advice and or recommendations on equipment needed for our home, one suggestion going forward is technicians should be able to turn choices for all equipment on (outside siren) so customers can hear how loud it may or may not be. We definitely thought the siren would be much louder. All in all the experience was very very good. Would recommend for sure.

positively professional! Kyle was very professional and willing to answer any of our questions prior to and during the installation of our system.

It’s been a long time since I have felt conned. This company banks on consumers that believe they are calling Adt for service. They pull the bait in switch with there estimate over the phone vs what they try to charge you after they start installing on-site.

My Good experience! Steve was a nice guy and took his time to make sure everything was done right and that we knew how to operate the equipment....

I had a horrible experience with this company. After I spoke with sales rep who stated he worked for Adt I scheduled an appointment. After install the police arrived at my new house guns in hand due to the alarm Tech tripping the alarm. 2 weeks later I received a letter from the county stating if it happened again I would get a 75 dollar fine. Today I received a bill from defenders for an electrical permit fee for 40 dollars. This was never disclosed to me. This company should be out of business. They are a scam.

Customer Response • May 23, 2018

I also wanted to add that when I called into dispute this charge I was told that I could not speak to a manager because nothing would be changed. I would like a manager to contact me to correct this issue. I will follow up with there response next week on Revdex.com. I doubt they will respond. But will keep you all informed.

The first customer service representative got it totally wrong and emailed me a cancellation notice. I just wanted my original documents. The second representative got it right, and I was able to print out what I needed.

From start to finish, installation, technician and sales representative perfect. Activation was not realized due unforeseen circumstances. ADT should be very proud of Protect Your Home.

They hire CON artists!! I should've known something was off when EARL didn't even know what devices we were suppose to get with the offer we called for ( 7 free wireless sensors 1 motion 2 key fobs for $48.99 month) he sells us all the other window equipment (9) and he says its 2 payments of $350.. which I declined then he says we'll get a 300$ gift card in the mail so we would only pay $400 out of pocket so my husband believed him. After 7 hours he is done "installing" makes me initial a couple of pages on the tablet without letting me read the print he leaves without giving me any paper work then comes back n hands me the paperwork I read through it & my monthly is wrong ($52) & the payments for the other equipment are $400 not $350. so I txt him and he says in 3 months they'll lower my payment another lie I was informed the only way its if I give up the pulse app my payment drops $4 lol
I had a feeling he was a scam from the beginning smh DO NOT BELIEVE THESE GUYS THEY SEND .. there's no gift card. The only thing that was kinda legit was the $100 gift card for installation that the promotion offered but we paid 108$ for installation and they require u to send a copy of ur contract and a money order of $4.95 for shipping and handling' took about 6 weeks to receive.

Oh, how I wish I had read these reviews first! I agree with most of what the others have said - They promise you 'free', but won't actually sell you that package - they shame you into going with their 'recommended' solution - thousands more dollars in some cases. They pressure you to use a wireless connection, which they charge you more per month than if it were a landline connection. The salesman pressures you to make a decision right then and there, promises you the world. And so you go ahead. And that, is the GOOD part. Once you are hooked, you are of no concern to them.

And all that was the GOOD part, because once the salesperson had done his/her job, you are no longer of any interest to this company. And that is EXACTLY how they treat you if you have a service issue, and I guarantee with the system as flaky as it is, YOU WILL have a service issue!

My system was installed by Defenders a little over a month ago. First one of the control panels failed - it started arming itself over and over - all by itself. I called ADT customer service who determined the wireless unit had malfunctioned and needed to be replaced. They had me remove the battery to stop the system from continually setting the alarm, then connected me into a phone queue for Defenders. When the system finally connected me, they hung up. Now I don’t know if it was a system issue or people nearing the end of shift and didn’t want to take another call, but it has happened several times to me, and I see from these comments by others they have had the same experience. A few weeks passed, since I still had one working panel, I was at least ok until I could get Defenders to answer their phone.

However, my MAIN panel developed a permanent fault about a week ago, so now BOTH my units are defective. I again called ADT customer service on May 9th, who again put me in Queue for Defenders, and AGAIN, the phone system dropped me. I have many other things to do, so have been unable to call again until this morning, May 16th. This time, I insisted ADT customer service remain on the line until I was actually connected with Defenders. So I finally got Defenders on the phone live. But here’s where the FUN begins! Defenders advised me they could not come out for two weeks from today. TWO WEEKS for a non-functioning system!

But wait - there's MORE! They will only come out Monday-Friday 8-5 - you know, the time when most people are at work. And No weekends either! I find this interesting, since my installer had no problem working to install my system between 5 and 8 PM. But I guess there is no sales commission for repairs on a clearly troublesome system. And on top of that, the agents I spoke with were completely uncaring. At this point, I still have a non-functioning system, have had for 3+ weeks, and since I cannot take off from work, will have for the foreseeable future.
I highly recommend you go with ANYONE ELSE but these people!

Installer did an excellent job. Professional-explained options very well with no hard sell to buy. The type individual you want representing your company.

Safety first! I am very please with the information the representative told me . In order to help me to feel the best safety for my home .

Good Technician. Friendly, polite and efficient. He was clear on what he expected to do and did it well. Great service

Defenders dba Project Your Home are complete scam artists preying on the people who don't know any better. Their representative Cody M ***, came to the house of my elderly parents and promised them the wireless plan with ADT pulse for the same price as a landline plan. He installed the Pulse apps on their phones for them and everything worked, for exactly the three days it took for the contract to become binding. He then turned off the Pulse service and pointed to the fact that he hadn't ever checked that box on the contract. As such, the company had refused to make it right by saying it's not in the contract, a contract that he had my elderly, trusting parents sign on his cellphone with incredibly small font by ensuring them that it was on the up and up. Do not use this company unless you want to be ripped off. They do not care that their salespeople blatantly lie to customers about what they are getting and have very clearly demonstrated no interest in making things right. They simply say that you can cancel, but that there is a 75% cancellation penalty. The fact that these charlatans are still I business is absurd. Do yourself a favor and don't throw you're money away, go with someone who actually cares about their customers.

BUYER BEWARE DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH DEFENDER/ADT
I entered into a contract on 4/6/18. On 4/10 I received a Alternat Comm. Cell Trouble alert so I called to request a technician come out to take a look. The dates the rep. had available wouldn’t work for me because I couldn’t take off work. I was told neither my mother nor my daughter (both over 18) couldn’t be there in my place, I had to be there so I got frustrated and hung up. I called back and requested to cancel, but was told I’d have to pay 75% of my contract (apparently Saturday is now considered a business day). The next rep I got said that anyone over 18 can be there so he scheduled an appt. The technician came on 4/13 and fixed the issue. Not even 24 hours passed and the Trouble alert came back on (I wish I can attach the beeping every 15 secs. so you can hear what I was going through). I call again to schedule an appt. to have a technician come out on 4/18. I got caught up at another job and couldn’t make it. Wow, after I took off work and I had to call in to be told that. I guess no one thought my matter wasn’t important enough to notify me (great service). So I had to call again, this time I asked to speak with a manager to see if the cancellation fee can be waived, she didn’t want to transfer me, so I asked for the Corp. number and was given the same number I called in to. I let her know that’s the number I called, she didn’t seem to care, so I asked for the number to where the President if the company sits, still no luck. The only thing she kept saying was that I still have to pay a 75% cancellation fee. I mentioned that there should be an exception to ever rule especially since there’s obviously something wrong with my system. She said in order to cancel without paying the fee is that a technician would have to come out 3 times (the no call, no show don’t count) and them the technician ms supervisor has to come out (ludicrous). I requested to have some come out and downgrade my service to the basic $27.99/mo. and I’ll just cut the cables so I won’t hear the beeping sound. Today a technician came and I will wait a few days and cut the cords. It doesn’t make since to me to have to eat the cost of the defective product, but you live and you learn. I found the name of the President and mailed s letter to IN, I sent an email, and contacted my Attorney General to voice my dissatisfaction with their practices! I have my calendar set to call in and cancel their sub par service and can’t wait. In the meantime, I will take my business elsewhere. Again, DON’T USE DEFENDER/ADT.
