I only hope you find this before you are a victim and not after. How ironic is it that you contract a security company to protect yourself from thieves just to be dealing with them.
Long story short.
When ordering the $99 package I was promised this and lots more with monitoring at $27.99.
It then had a sum added. I asked why.
"Because you do noyt have a land line."
I said I wouldn't want to proceed and suddenly it was $27.99 again.
The tech was scheduled for next day 2-4pm.
He did not leave until 9pm!
It is one long up-sell. A had none of it including the monitoring again going up to $48.99. I was told by the installer and his manager that they would honor the $27.99. I was also told that "it might go up after 12 months but at that time I could cancel.
I even had the tech write this on my paper receipt.
It meant nothing. They plan to charge $48.99 for 3 years.
Within 24 hours the system failed and my wife and children were kept awake all night by the chirping.
It was this that made me call through and I guess fortunately discover I had been lied to by several representatives about the rates and terms.
You'd hope that cancelling would be the end but it only gets worse. You are given another number to cancel but this one you are left hanging on. I went 40 minutes before a human picked up. I was told a cancellation form would be emailed to me. REMEMBER YOU HAVE JUST 3 DAYS TO ESCAPE THESE ROBBERS.
The email did not come. I called the same evening and was told it had been sent.again. Nothing. Third time I tell the person supposedly sending it to stay on line until it comes through. Still nothing. They are not sending anything because they want you trapped in their contract.
At time of writing I have 48 hours to escape. I have yet to speak to a single person who I trust. I am completely convinced it is a giant racket.
As posters before have questioned. They are running at a 99% negative review rat. How on *** d they rate A+?

I had my ADT system installed by Defenders after an aggressive sales pitch - where I explained that I was going to remodel my house and wanted to wait until after my remodel. However, the salesman assured me that this wouldn't be a problem as unlimited service was included in my package though my subscription period. So I agreed. I paid a large sum of money to have my system installed and signed a contract. Now, that it is time to re-install my sensors they want to charge me for a service visit. I called ADT corporate, filed a complain - they sent someone out, free of charge with no hesitation.

Damien was very punctual and kind. He took his time to explain all the products and services offered and insured his installation was done well. I had a little more out of pocket expenses than I wish but he tried to help keep them down.

Horrible experience with this company since system was installed 3 weeks ago!

- Installer didn't properly connect carbon monoxide detectors as a signal wasn't being sent to monitoring station or ADT pulse.

- Installer didn't provide ADT monitoring our phone number and phone password to call us if an alarm sounded.

- Technician that was dispatched to trouble shoot carbon monoxide signal didn't put system in test mode. ADT couldn't call us as installer hadn't provided correct phone # to monitoring station. Police showed up.

- Spent 2 hours on phone with ADT and Defender requesting to cancel monitoring contract. Customer service on both sides was useless and they kept point the finger of blame at each other. I was ultimately threatened with collection action if I didn't continue to pay monthly fee for this incompetence.

Do yourself a favor and find a security firm that is competent, professional and customer serviced oriented. ADT and Defender are a joke.

Deceptive business practices. STAY AWAY! I was setting up installation for my new home. The first problem is that they didn't tell me they were charging the installation fee at the time I made the appointment. Their lingo was, "We just need a credit card to hold your appointment." The second, bigger fail, was that they LIED about the monthly monitoring cost. I was told it would be $27.99/month and when I called in to check about the charge on my credit card, the girl quoted me $48.99/month because I don't have a phone line. I confirmed with sales guy #1 AT LEAST 2-3 times that I did not have a phone line and he said as long as I have internet, which I do, it will be fine and the $27.99/month. Shady, shady, shady people. Needless to say, the installation is cancelled and my money is being refunded.

Revdex.com rating A plus , really ? 58 negative reviews Vs 2 positive ones , how does this compute ? This Richmond base service company is the worst I have ever dealt with. Revdex.com should review its rating system , otherwise it is so unreliable as the subject vendor - uselessness.

Even though the main person I got a chance to work with Danny was perfect the rest of defenders are just rude. It totally negates the good work Danny did. I had over 10k installed on two houses of mine. Because of their poor communication and attitude my house currently is unsecured due to a malfunction in one key component. I have already paid for it. Had I not called them for their failed installation it would have stayed unsecured for ever. 10/10 for the Tech who installed it but the rest of defenders and customer service are negligent Andy flat out rude and that’s who I will have to deal with for a long time. ADT won’t get into this because defenders are the installers.

Worst company I've ever dealt with! They seem to hire only incompetent individuals who don't understand plain english. They don't provide the services as stated on the signed contract. Defenders is a horrible company; as well as ADT. ADT claimed that there was an intruder initiating a break in through our front door, then the side window; however, there was no such thing. Their sensors were faulty yet they decided to deter the fault to an invisible "intruder." I know this isn't true for a fact because we have security cameras and I was able to clearly see that there was no one tryiing to break in at the time the alarm was triggered! When I called ADT and Defenders, neither one wanted to send a tech out (for which I still have a warranty) to check on the sensors.

As I understand it, ADT has Defenders under their umbrella in the Jacksonville area. I responded to a move-in offer after my family moved to Jacksonville for $27.99. After a lengthy phone call with ADT, I was able to schedule a technician to come for an estimate and installation. I knew that the price of the equipment would be steep, as I had been told by customers of ADT, so while I would have appreciated that aspect on the offer, I was not surprised. The technician was not efficient. He went on with stories about his dogs, his high school days, etc. Despite all his talking, the technician would not answer any of my questions about billing. He simply repeated that ADT handled that end. He also never mentioned that the $27.99 offer only applied to homes with a landline but he did hand me a contract for $56/month after he was done installing the equipment. This was on a weekend, but I called ADT asap the following Monday to get an explanation. Only then did I learn that the plan I had signed up for did not fit the criteria for the $28 offer because of my not having a landline. Again, the technician never brought this up at all. I was eventually transferred to a supervisor at ADT who offered me two visa gift cards and to reduce my monthly bill to $44.99. I found this a fair compromise, so I accepted that and another technician came to my home the following weekend with an updated contract for me to sign.
But, I am still being charged $56 a month. I have tried several times to correct the situation with ADT, but they only have record of the original contract. Even after I sent screen shots 4 times of the new contract, I have not received a response.
But that is not all. Last month, one of the batteries on a siren caused an alert. Not a huge deal - the technician had given us his number and said to text if anything like this occurs. So we texted and he said he would be by on noon the following Saturday to check it out. He never came. When I texted him at 3 that day, he said he forgot and was out of town, so could not help. We set up an appointment for the same time the following Saturday, same thing. He was out of town. No excuse. No apology. We had stayed home and cancelled plans two Saturdays in a row, no thanks to this service. After three weeks and more phone calls, ADT set up an appointment to have the siren serviced. Who came to the door? The original technician who installed our equipment and left us hanging two weekends in a row. I was not happy to see him.

I was sold an huge amount of equipment for my small 1300 sq ft home. I thought this was normal as I have never had a security system before, So I now own 5 fire alarms for a small 3 bedroom home. I own 2 outdoor flashing alarms, carbon monoxide monitor, motion detector, all doors sensors and breakaway window sensors, charged for a camera which I didn't get. Talk about overkill salesman! I feel ripped off for sure! I had no clue this was not the normal. Then on top of the $6,000. in equipment I did not need I was charge $59.99 per month to monitor my home this of course includes a camera which I never got. I complained and to no use at all so I cancelled my service. I can't get a refund on the overkill from DEFENDERS/ADT which is unfair. I can tell you first hand that you can spend at least 2 hours on the phone and transferred to employees that are not trained and you will get no were in conversation.
Never will I ever recommend DEFENDERS/ADT to anyone!

ABSOLUTELY. HORRIBLE. NEVER AGAIN IN MY LIFE. This business is outrageous!!! I called originally to talk about pricing and was told explicitly (and asked repeatedly to be sure) that because we had cable and internet, we didn't have to have home phone, like they advertise, because they could connect through that. I agreed and had it installed and then was given a completely different price (almost double) than what was originally quoted over the phone. Of course, this is all AFTER it's been installed. When I called to speak with them about this, they offered restitution in the form of gift cards and said that these restitution would be in addition to my original offer of $100 gift card for signing up. When I called today to learn how to submit for that $100, I was told Protect Your Home hadn't submitted for that card yet and was transferred to their customer service team. When I talked with them, they claimed that the manager I spoke with said that my restitution gift cards "were in addition to" my original $100 offer. Because I had been scammed by them once, I asked her over and over again about this just because I know they record phone calls for reference and wanted it on record should anything happen - and lo and behold, it's happening again. I was told that an email would be sent to this "manager" and they would listen to the phone call and get to the bottom of it. I completely understand them doing their due diligence in listening to the phone call, but I'd love to know just how long this is going to take and whether or not any of these ridiculous excuses for customer service reps are actually being reprimanded for their appalling, and ridiculous behavior!! The Revdex.com system is giving this company an A+ and I can't even FATHOM how or why, when there are 57 total customer reviews, and 53 of them are negative. That's 92.9% of reviews completely NEGATIVE and they have an A+?! Just save your time and energy, and use a reputable company to secure your home.

DO NOT USE PROTECT YOUR HOME OR DEFNDER- the other name they use.!!!! There have been 1160 complaints/ negative reviews with Revdex.com SINCE MARCH 2016 from multiple states. CAll the attorney general's office in your area and Mr. SEssions in Washington, D.C.. They are deceptive, use false advertising to then illegally " bait and switcht" to ridiculous priced equipment and monitoring price- all the while telling you this is what you need and why they can't use your existing systems; even though I was told they could during my initial call to ADT. These are not mistakes- this is the business model this company is using.. Shame on ADT of allowing the to use their name to mislead and use high pressure in home sales tactics to take advantage of people. And after thy start drilling holes in your walls it's hard to say stop. And then when you try to cancel- they don't have your appointment to remove th equipment. And no one will call you back. Convenient. Write down every conversation, date time, employee IID and how long you waited to get help or a call back. I see a class action suite in the future against this company.

Okay, so, I just purchased my first home, and wanted an alarm to make myself and my wife feel safer. I was on my Bank of America credit card online account, and noticed that had a cash back deal for ADT, so I thought, great! Of course, it wasn't through ADT directly, it was through Protect Your Home, which is an authorized ADT retailer. I called the 1800 number and set up the appointment and was charged the $100 installation fee immediately (it's ok, I'm getting $100 cash back through BofA anyway). During the phone call, they upgrade my package to include 2 keypads, 2 keychains, and $700 in extras. I thought great! Fast forward to the day of the install, the guy showed up early (which was great, except we were having Fios and a new water heater installed at the same time, so him being early made it even more crazy!) Off the bat, I had kind of a negative reaction to him, because I told him Fios was here and they are installing a phone line for you to connect to. His response was, oh, we don't need that, everything is done wirelessly now! My first thought was great, but I'm also not an it. So, I said to him, great, as long as its the $27.99 that we agreed to. He told me it wasn't but we can talk about that, which I then replied that as long as its $27.99 that we agreed to, then we can talk. At that point, he drills a hole where the main keypad would go, took him a while (not his fault), and then installed the keypad. We then went over all of the windows and doors, and everything fancy thing they sell. They then quote you an absurd price if you install every gadget they sell, it came out to almost $6K! Of course, no one buys every gadget, so he then takes some of it out, and quotes me around $2500 for the installation. At this point, I was really upset, because I'm not paying that kind of money, that's absurd. So, little by little, you can reduce the pricing by getting the regular window/door senors instead of the better ones, get one keychain instead of 2, one motion sensor, etc. After spending 20 minutes trying to get the price down, it got down to a more reasonable $250. Again, I'm not stupid, I know they upsell, I kind of expected it, but do it in a ethical way! They also try to upsell hard on the Pulse $52.99 package, but as long as you keep saying no, they have to give you the basic $27.99 package. So, after he installed everything and tested it, he had me sign the contracts, sign here, initial here, etc. Everything was fine, except the next day, I was charged another $96 on top of the $250 charge that was for the additional sensors/keypads/etc, which I did not authorize! It turns out, in the contract (which they do not tell you), you are agreeing to pay a prorated amount of your current month + next month's amount, but not for the monthly rate you agreed to, but for the $52.99+tax, regardless of the monthly price you signed up for. It is actually written into the contract, and they conveniently skip over it. At this point, I've had enough and contact ADT customer service directly. They have been great, they refunded me the overcharge amount, and have guaranteed I will be billed $27.99 per month starting next month. So far, I am happy with ADT, but buyer beware, if you use protectyourhome, this is what will happen! This is how they make their money, they don't do it ethically, they overcharge and upsell and hope you don't notice. But if that happens to you, contact ADT directly, they will fix whatever you were overcharged.

Had received ad through the mail with ADT emblem with Protect your Home out beside it.Told one thing on card installer comes out we talk with him about the security system, and he told us to get window alert we need glass break protectors. after he left we thought we had received what we talked about. He had not left the key bobs he was to have, left 2 he left one.our house was only protected when we use the away button ,when we used the stay(home) if some one came through a window we were not procteted. We called the company they sent out another installer. the first one had not programed our system with the things we should have . We were told if we wanted the protection we thought we had he would take the glass break monitors and place monitors on the windows program ou system and it would cost us over $ 2,000 We told him we were very disappointed with what seemed to us to be low balling us using the ad ,then the first installer, and now him.We trust ADT to monitor our home but we fill "Defenders" are are not trust worthy.
